| 2.0 poor | myriad | August 4th 07 | Here's the scenario. Guy forms band, band gets big and hugely successful and then the band splits because the singer has a divine calling to do something special. Which is a shame. Cause this CD is not special enough to warrant the split of said band. Enter Tom Delonge. During their prime, Blink-182 massed many fans and made fun music which may not have seemed serious on the outside but was taken relatively seriously when being written. For whatever reason, Delonge chose to split Blink-182 up and chose to pursue a solo career under the band pseudonym "Angels and Airwaves". Long before it was released he was telling everyone left, right and centre that it and they were the saviours of rock 'n' roll, the sad thing was, he was actually being serious. Upon first listen the album does have catchy areas but nothing to keep you compelled to listen to it many times. The problem with this album lies in the desire of its creator to be taken seriously as an artist and the sheer repetitiveness of some of the songs. One of which the title is repeated a gazillion times. Lyrics aren't a strong point either with one song uttering the cringeworthy lines "I think I like today, I think it's good". Which is just as well as the song in question is titled "Good Day". That being said it does have some areas that aren't all that bad but are ruined by pointless whining. "The Adventure" could have been a brilliant way to show the band's ability to write a good song but around half-way through it just turns into cliched whining. The video of him walking through fields of grass does little to save the albums failed pretensions either. Delonge might not need to whisper, but he has little to shout about either with this record. Well I guess this is growing up...

| 1.5 very poor | Thomas Bambaataa Ghidrah Towers | June 25th 06 | A laughable attempt of Tom DeLonge trying to prove he's original. His voice sounds like a goat getting butchered alive, no longer accepting that he sounds like a 12 year old, he tries to lower his voice making a horrible noise that you'd only get anywhere else in a prison shower. The only thing innovative about this album is that it's been a while since anyone in pop music has thought delay pedals and ripping off U2 is cool. Oooh wow, 90 second intros to songs, and not singing about getting dumped! How groundbreaking!

| 1.5 very poor | John Kisses Boys Hanson STAFF | June 26th 06 | Angels and Airwaves? More like Angels and Suckwaves amirite? No, but seriously folks, how about them guitar effects? Yeah, they're supposed to make Tom and crew look really neat, but all they really do is make me want to listen to a better band that uses them. Did I mention Tom still can't write a good song by himself worth a shit? Well, he can't. He still also has a very, very boring voice, and we now see the genious that was Mark on the Blink records. If you want pretentious prog, get something by The Mars Volta. If you want catchy pop punk, well, get Blink 182. Just plain don't get this. It has AIDS. AIDS is evil.

| 2.5 average | Hep Kat | June 21st 06 | Tom Delonge state that A&A would create the greatest music ever to be heard. This is a gross overestimation. We Don't Need To Whisper is fairly average. On most of the album's songs, A&A seem like they are trying to hard to create something wonderful, and they fail quite handily. We Don't Need To Whisper isn't a terrible album, it's just not good.

| 2.0 poor | TBarker1202 | October 14th 06 | Tom Delonge's post Blink-182 debut was full of mega-hype that led to a whole bunch of disappointment. The first single, "The Adventure" was actually an extremely catchy, song that was praise worthy of the hype I had heard about the album. But besides that the album is full of disappointments, with Tom trying too hard to make everysong a masterpiece. You can tell there are many good ideas in the songs, but they could never connect to get them over the top. The entire album sounds forced and over produced to the point that they cannot play the material live without a recording. You should only go so far when trying to make you songs sound more complex, and Tom went too far in this case!

| 1.5 very poor | Kieran Vogel | September 5th 09 | Say what you will about Tom Delonge. He'll have heard it all before, and so will his followers. This album wasn't made for his critics to prove them wrong, or for former bandmates Travis Barker and Mark Hoppus to prove what he could do without them. This album was made for himself and himself alone- a shedding of skin, a statement, a progression from taking off his pants and jacket and singing of milfs and pirates, and into a whole new stage of his life and career. To many listeners, he failed to make much of an impact at all. But to these ears? Delonge could not have evolved with more style, or in any more exciting a fashion.
The ten songs featured on this record are breathtaking, vast and occasionally adrenalin-fuelled feelgood rock songs. On paper, sure, it's nothing special. There's something about AVA, however, that I just cannot describe. A sense of belonging, a connection, a bridged gap between listener and artist. "The Adventure" is an anthem complete with Edge guitar and urgent drums, "Distraction" is an atmospheric parade of layered synth and guitar, "It Hurts" a dizzying recollection of an affair which gives the music a distinctly honest and human touch...these are songs that are all a part of Delonge's master plan. The songs don't sit on the fence, either; you're either going to hold these songs to your heart or discard them completely.
I, for one, choose the former.
Just like Tom Delonge, you can say what you will.
He and I won't give a damn, that's for sure.

| 2.5 average | Brien C. Stevenson | July 21st 09 | This one somehow slipped in as a guilty pleasure of mine, and despite efforts to break these ties, repeated listens just won't let me for whatever reason. There are a couple good songs on here, the rest are range from decent to average to weak/filler. For what it's worth, this may be more of an easy listener than the band's follow-up.

| 0.0 | Conor Mackie | March 19th 09 | In all, not a bad album. I always, 100% of the time preferred Mark Hoppus' vocals to Tom DeLonge's on Blink-182's albums, and sadly Tom's voice gets annoying often, just like on a Blink-182 record. Because this sounds close to Blink 182's excellent last album (Self-Titled), it retains the emotion and personal feel, but not quite the charm.

| 2.5 average | deadskinmask216 | September 13th 06 | They don't really focus in on the musical side as opposed to the ambient side. If you like soundscapes, here's your album, but if you want to hear some good tunes, inspired lyrics, and overall appeal, this is not your album. It was pretty sucky, dull, and overhyped. Gross, gross, gross album.

| 2.5 average | darlingfemmefatal | March 21st 11 | Much like the title, the entire album is much like a 99cent romance novel. It's kinda fun to listen to once, but after you know the plot and read all the juicy bits, you're ready to just stack it on your self and let it gather dust... or simply throw it away. It leaves no great impression and is easily forgotten.

| 1.5 very poor | sharksinyamouth | October 2nd 08 | We Don?t Need To Whisper. Who on earth would name their debut that? Trust Tom Delonge to be involved with a band that names their debut album this. You do need to whisper because nobody wants to hear you. After the break up of Blink-182, Tom talked his band up so much that when everybody actually got to hear these songs, they all hoped that Travis and Mark weren?t going to complete waste. With very slow building pop punk rock, this album is one to skip.

| 4.0 excellent | Aj | December 10th 07 | While Tom DeLonge has had better days, his music days aren't entirely over. AVA brings a new side of Tom DeLonge to the table in a much, much different way. At first, i did not like AVA. I got the album and listened more and more. Some songs grew on me. Lyrics wise i think it's very good. The 9-and-a-half minute intros need to go though. They're annoying. And don't do any songs any more justice or anything. I don't think Tom should give up because AVA has a lot more potential. But Tom, Blink is where you need to be. Not blasting your ego somewhere and making a fool of yourself.

| 4.5 superb | Undead | February 12th 07 | This is an album that I didn't think was so special at first, but it grew on me quite a bit. Something about the music makes it sound better everytime.
It's good music to listen to on your own, obviously its not party music or anything. Its music for the conscience.

| 2.0 poor | click | December 31st 06 | this was the most over hyped album and band of all time. Firstly to have ''the best band in the world'' you have to have the best musicians. I am a drummer and i would choose 100 other drummers before Atom Willard, sure he is good but he doesnt really excel in this band. I do like some songs Valkyrie Missle and The Adventure but thats really all. The band incorparates some good musical aspects but are a bit repetative. the lyrics are poor and there is too much delay.
Tom Delonge was asleep one night not knowing what was being cooked at the Barker/Hoppus place......A better band that wasnt over-hyped. Plus 44 are much better

| 1.0 awful | alpha | October 14th 06 | there was way to much production on this album. not to mention the musicianship is not much to build off of- it a poor fusion of blink 182, u2, and the sound effects of linkin park. moreover, tom spoke of this album as if it was the word of the gods.. however it just lets you down. not to mention the album is basically the same song 10 times.

| 1.5 very poor | Chas | September 14th 06 | Well this album really is quite awful. After listening to the album to make my own mind up I came to the conclusion that all its doubters and haters were right. From the long and over pretensius intros, to the horrible vocals its just not good at all. The intros are long and very pointless, like they have tried for a prog style, and failed miserabley. The musicianship seems to simple to warrant merit at all. And Tom Delounge, he really can't sing, its the cringe facter plus the oh dear factor. Stay away from this.

| 5.0 classic | kris | July 19th 06 | I love this album, quite different from Tom Delonge's other bands, Blink and Box Car Racer...but he's still managed to pull off a classic. The lyrics have meaning, some of Blink 182's just didnt have the same effect, the only downside really...is that the songs sound very similar, and are quite slow, still...great album =]

| 5.0 classic | Vikki182 | July 19th 06 | This album has everything - Meaningful lyrics, Good music, and the best combination of bandmates we've seen. Atom's drums on this record are amazing and you can tell that The Offspring will be sound great with him in their band. The guitars have the most amazing effects and the vocals are great, even though his voice can get boring. Overall I think it is the best album this year that I own. I really have overplayed it.

| 1.0 awful | f_u_c_t | June 27th 06 | Man it was a challenge to listen all the way through this album. But I did, and with a headache after-words. I would probably never say this about any other album, but I would rather listen to a Blink-182 album instead of this. Vocals were horrid, and the music was probably as bland as bland can get. Im glad I borowed this and didnt buy it.
