What gives Freaky Styley the edge over all other RHCP albums is
how catchy, fresh and fun it is. Extremely underrated, this is a true
gem, and revolutionized music in general. One of my all-time fave
albums.

Albeit a hint of context and some structure, Freaky Styley is an improvement from the debut album despite its immaturity and obnoxiousness. Its more groovy, funky and leans towards a punk attitude. There are no standout tracks enabling it to reach high levels of quality but nevertheless, a necessary step for the band to develop and craft its own style. Recommendations: Freaky Styley, Jungle Man, Hollywood (Africa).

What a record. You?ll be hard pressed to find anything similar. It isn?t outright bad, and has some solid cuts like Sex Rap, Blackeyed Blonde and Catholic School Girls Rule. Overall it suffers from horrible lyrics and some too experimental tracks for my taste e. g. closer Yertle the Turtle.

It's a marginal improvement over their self-titled debut, thanks to the first four tracks and the closer, but on the whole Freaky Styley suffers from the same problems that plagued their debut: immature, obnoxious, unrefined, and ultimately ineffective. George Clinton provides the production here, and while he does do a decent job, it is not enough to save the bulk of this record from being unsatisfactory. While tracks like "American Ghost Dance" and "Yertle The Turtle" have some great moments, like the always-excellent backing vocals the Peppers employ, and the incredible catchy trumpet on the latter track, there are simply too many moments like those on "Blackeyed Blonde", just too crude and unamusing to be good. It's good to know that they'd improve very much from this, eventually making some truly spectacular records.

if you ask me one of their best efforts ever
really unique mixture of punk rock and funk
the rhythm reveals that these guys have been soooo full of energy they could burn any stage just by playing music on it - honestly: any album that starts with a bass line as powerful as Jungle Man cannot be bad, also mind Yertle the Tertle - very different to their recent material but just a lovely tune and of course listen to the message that American Ghost Dance or Hollywood (Africa) bring to your ears with rhythm and a lot of passion
If you want to listen to love incorporated in music then you should always mind the Peppers!

This is probably tha funkiest of all of tha Cracka albums . Aint no L-I-M-I-to-tha-T. The fizzy is absolutely pure, whizzich is mainly coz of them bring'n in George Clinton ta produce it. I like tha way almost every siznong has a crap load of brass instruments in it, like Hollywood like a tru playa'. The lyrics is sometizzles stupid, yet very enjoyable. Its weird how this band has different personnel now, yet when I listen it seems like tha very same band. This album shows T-H-to-tha-izzat even in 1985 tha Red Hot Chili Peppa were one of tha most talented bands on tha planet . Aint no L-I-M-I-to-tha-T.
