A surprisingly decent album. No, the band does absolutely nothing new in the almost completely stale metalcore genre, but the execution is done well enough that it's not a real chore or pain to listen to. The instrumental performances are pretty solid, and with all the screaming you might not notice the lyrics might as well be written by Hawthorne Heights. Yes, there are much better bands that play quite similar music; yes, they'll be forgotten in several years along with 80% of the metalcore 'scene'; and no, The Poison isn't a terrible album. Actually, it's better than several other bands at the bottom of the spectrum.

I find this album way overated, I admit that i liked these guys when this album was released. But when i found out other Metalcore band such as Unearth, Parkway Drive and As i lay Dying, i couldn't match this album up against theres. Still this album has a few good tracks which make this album average.

Bullet for my valentine did a great job on this album. Songs like hit the floor and poison make this album worth listening to. Bullet for my valentine shows much skill in their Genre. Their newer album still doesnt compare to it.

This album is absolutely amazing. I usually listen to Punk but this album has opened my eyes to so much other metal. The vocal mixtures are awesome and the guitars are just as good.

BFMV's only better than average album in my opinion. I owe a lot this album because a few of the songs off here were key components in my beginning love for heavy music. After this album, however, the band went really generic and I lost all interest. Just my opinion of course.

Influential metalcore that really helped me get into screaming music. The drums are above average, the riffing is awesome, and the vocals are great. "4 Words" is my favorite song.

BFMV?s debut is a well-written metalcore album. The first song, Her Voice Resides, is a good way to open a metalcore release. The album has its fair share of songs that scream and songs that don?t scream. This is probably to even it out. All These Things I Hate is a great song, with the acoustic at the start and then it gets into it with enthusiasm. This is a major improvement from their self-titled EP. Its downfall would be the fact that some songs seem to go for too long, such as Tears Don?t Fall. The standout tracks are: 4 Words (To Choke Upon), Suffocating Under Words Of Sorrow (What Can I Do) and All These Things I Hate (Revolve Around Me). All in all this is a great debut for the metalcore genre.

On BFMV's Debut full length, they utilise vaguely catchy but horribly cliched melodies to create a somewhat bland album. But that is only looking at what the guitars play. Add to this Matt Tuck's terrible screaming and whining, and you get an album that can only reach a 1.5 at max. Positive points include the guitar tone (it's quite a heavy distortion) and the drums and drum sound. In short, if you are into good metal, avoid this album unless you want to be majorly irritated. However, i'm sure all the scene and emo fags love this. and no wonder.
