As great as "Voodoo Chile (slight return)" and "all along the watchtower." His albums are never about how the songs are but mainly about how he uses his instrument. Which to some extent makes up for some of the songs but not quite to warrant it higher than a "3." Some of the songs I just couldn't get into.

My pick for the master's best album. It changes all the time but 'Crosstown Traffic', 'Voodoo Child', 'Come on (Let the Good Times Roll)', 'All Along the Watchtower' and 'Voodoo Child (Slight Return)' are some of the best of Jimi's short but memorable career

Most experimental and most beautiful album made by Jimi. Uneven pieces , some are truly gems while others are so so (ie "Little Miss Strange"). The best finish you could have hoped for with "All Along The Watchtower" and "Voodoo Child". Overall, one of the most intricate and inspired rock album ever.

Pure excellence from the man himself. A truly classic album that includes the Bob Dylan cover All Along the Watchtower, in which Hendrix truly made it, one of the best Rock N Roll songs ever written, his own, even Dylan admitted to that. Classic.

What can I say? It's amazing from start to finish. Even the wildly out of place Little Miss Strange is there for a reason - think of it as a kind of marker, representing what everyone else was doing in 1968, while the rest of the album is what Jimi was doing. It's kind of cruel to follow Voodoo Child with this throwaway Noel Redding number, but it helps to place the album in a wider context and makes you realise just how mind-blowing Hendrix's work was.
Why'd he die? Why?!

this album was at one point my least favorite jimi album..but i have listened to it twice this week and realized that it is close to his best work "Axis: Bold As Love" which in my opinion is a perfect album..

Not bad for a lefty! No seriously this album is and will always be considered an essential to any aspiring guitar player, stellar licks and face melting solo's from the left handed genious himself. Classic tracks all the way through, just when you think they can't fit any more into the album, bam they throw "all along the watchtower" at you followed by the wah infected "Voodoo chile (slight return)" The only fault with this masterpiece is that it doesn't flow as cohessively as I would like.
