Made of lovesick tunes full of indie angst and beachy vibe, Crazy for You shows its straightforward antics from the get-go and never strays from it. The best tracks (the first two really) thus clearly outshine the least refined ones.

Comes off as too simplistic, ditzy, and at its worst, downright dumb at times ("Happy"). It pulls off that lonely-laziness-bathed-in-California-sun feel, which gives it some pleasant moments, but other than reminding me of warm summer days this album doesn't do much for me.

So Bethany Cosentino produces a surf-inspired pop record that makes her out to be a lazy songwriter, lyrically retarded and forgettable all around. Her voice is obnoxiously lethargic and her calls of desperation come off as trite attemtps at expressing unrequited love. But even her fans make fun of her for it. So it eventually becomes clear that she wants her sound to resemble carefree summer pop, but that would require it to be catchy or slightly enjoyable.

repetitive, unapologetically simple and to be quite frank, extremely lazy. the redeeming qualities of this album lie in the fact that it's a definite summer album that feels good after you've been lying in the sun for 6 hours and your brain is too friend to process anything more complicated or profound than this album. lackluster aside, it's really quite a pleasant album. there isn't anything to hate on here, but there isn't really much to worship either, heh.

"Crazy For You" is certainly entertaining surf rock, though it cannot carry for 13 songs, as it feels overdone by the end, despite being only around 30 minutes long. And the lyrics are laughable almost throughout.
