Whatever instrumental skills or interesting ideas these guys may have are completely suffocated by overproduction (how many reversed cymbal crashes can one album have) and a near fetishistic influence from early 2000s post-hardcore and metalcore (double-bass drum fills should be applied with ironic br00tality a la Between the Buried and Me, not seriously). Fake History is a strong example of when worship and tribute goes too far.

Daryl Palumbo + Claudio Sanchez + Poison The Well + Hopesfall + jazz rhythms = mega fucking win. There are so many awesome moments all over this record it's pointless to list them. letlive definitely have a pastiche of influences, some more obvious than others, but put them together masterfully into their own sound better than a lot of their peers. There are a few metalcore-by-numbers tracks, but nothing really dips into bad quality. Anyone who likes any of the aforementioned singers/bands/genres should make listening to this a big, big priority as it's definitely one of the strongest records out this year so far.

I've been listening to this CD on repeat since I got it. The jazz influence is HUGE, a big plus for me. The lack of breakdowns make this a total standout from the shit storm that is the hardcore/ metalcore scene. The singer brings a great amount of energy to the record. So far, one of my favorite cd's of the year.

Los Angeles' letlive have spent the last decade as rising stars in the post-hardcore world and with Fake History they've shot straight to the top. It's a glorious and furious amalgam of everything that made me fall in love with the genre years ago. If this doesn't make them huge then I don't know what will.

what you get when you mix the advanced rhythm stylings of the Refused, the vocal swagger of Glassjaw, the sociopolitical conscious lib of At The Drive-In, and the nasty ass guitar licks of He Is Legend. Everything I've ever wanted in a post-hardcore record. just wow.

Fake History is a rare beast: I first heard it last year, and immediately, before all rthe catchy-as-hell choruses and memorable lines took root in my noggin, I knew, I fuckin' knew, it was just something extra special. Every song vaguely caught my interest even initially - a rarity for me when listening to any album. I kind of worried that it would get old quick, though, given this characteristic; from reading some comments, I can see that it has for a few of the users here. But for me this mother fucker has done nothing but grow and grow over time. "Muther" may have been the song of 2010 for me, but I can recall a point in time when any of the songs present on this catchy-as-hell post-hardcore release could have made a case for that spot as well - even the fucking bonus tracks that were released this year! Call it highly produced Glassjaw-aping, marketable to angst-y youngsters that only care about fun and games - granted, Fake History is indeed that, admittedly. But it's perfectly done here, perfectly, and I seriously can't help but have a blast while playing it.

It is a great album, even if the lyrics are quite poor in some areas. The overall feel of the album is fresh, and the band sounds youthful and vibrant. I am definitely looking forward to this band's next album.

A stunning showcase of all the genre has to offer. This album literally has a little bit of everything and should be regarded as the example of how to execute the perfect post-hardcore album. Unfortunately, it doesn't break enough new ground or differentiate from an all-too-familiar formula to earn a 5.

Fake History is both the best post-hardcore album and the worst. It's energetic and exciting, and has more than enough stylistic variation. At the same time though, these two reasons are why this album saddens me. With the constant onslaught of musically great post-hardcore, most listeners can't stop and notice what this band's real problem is. Some of the things that made post-hardcore classics like Relationship of Command and Worship and Tribute so great were that they weren't trying to be something they're not. All I hear on this is a band being a ditto. I'm serious, when the Jason isn't trying to be Daryl, he's trying to be Claudio. Hopefully by next release these guys actually play their own music. 3.6/5

CLASSIC ALBUM ! Best album I've heard in a long time. Namely the re-issue because of "Lemon Party", the only song without screaming on the record, but it is the most grooviest catchy rock song I've ever heard. The rest of the album is amazing. This band somehow rules the post-hardcore genre and every song is very unique. Can't wait for their next release.

In the world of post hardcore, Letlive. prove they are miles ahead of their peers with their fantastic release "Fake History." The vocalist's screams are top notch, but his singing is just as impressive which gives the band a fresh sound. Amazing album.

Although this is not the real classic people are making it out to be it is still a fantastic album filled with some things that the hardcore scene surely needed again.While its no "Everything You Wanted to Know About Silence" it's still 10 times better then half of the crap post hardcore that has been coming out for a while now.
