they get lumped in with a lot of garbage thanks to the grunge tag but along with the best
nirvana material and a couple other lesser known bands, mudhoney were more representative
of the actual worthwhile music brewing around seattle in the late 80s/early 90s. march to
fuzz does a nice job of culling most of the key songs from their records up until 1998 as
well as a bunch of cover tunes and soundtrack contributions, acting as both a good intro
for new listeners and a handy one stop comp for people who are already familiar but dont
feel like wading through their sometimes uneven releases. listening to the record it's
pretty obvious that they weren't remotely innovative or interested in moving beyond
writing songs inspired by 60s garage rockers and the stooges but this is one of the
positive example of a band finding a niche and having the riffs and hooks (and a great
frontman in mark arm) to mostly sustain it. bonus points for some sweet covers of songs
by the crucifucks, fang and void.

Can be considered "The Bible" of grunge. Essential compilation.
