Bumpin' this rating up cuz I believe it's their best album so far. They've matured, they didn't have a record company calling shots on this one, and all four members seem to have a good chemistry goin' on. Plus, they're better musicians now. Tara brings her jazz+blues-influenced solos to nearly every track, Morgan brings twelve times the growls+screams that Funeral wished it had, and Mercedes and Ivy keep the whole group grounded and moving forward on the low end.
I'm quite likin' this and hope they continue in this direction.
It's a really good album but can do a lot better. I mean it has it's hardcore moments like Cut Throat and Forgive and Forget. And Morgan really shines with her clean vocals in Sorrow I Know. But then u have some not so good songs like Sleepwalking which if you think about, there isn't much metal to it. I mean it's a good album and it really show how much they've matured as a band since Spit. But if they add better solos and some more memorable riffs I think that their next album can really top them all!
To me Cut Throat is the best song on the album. It's the only one that has that apt combination of growled
vocals/fast heavy drumming and clean vocals or melodic sections. The production is top notch all throughout
the album, as are the girls but their riffs are sometimes bland and lack intuition. Just my opinion, sorry if it
differs to yours.
This is Kittie's best album since the classic album Oracle. I can't understand the negative reviews. Make sure to catch them live. They are a behemoth of a band and they have proven to me to have the chops.
A decent romp through Kittie's latest metal mindfuck. Give them credit for stepping into the alt-metal world, with the atmospheric intro that blends very well with the second cut. It shows them a step further in maturing their style, which isn't bad at all.
