While delivering a less consistent effort than their previous albums and relying more on somewhat questionable electronic work, Eternal Tears of Sorrow have improved their technical work, coming in with more blazing solos, soaring strings and well crafted song structures. The clean vocals have also improved and sound much more relaxed and controlled, the same can unfortunately not be said for his harsh vocals which are still laughable.

Quite an excellent album, my only complaint are the absolutely horrifying screams. They make me cringe.

The supposed attempt to mix styles of its two predecessors helps give the album a darker edge over Before the Bleeding Sun, but the compensation is that the tracks lack focus and, as a result, wind up not feeling nearly as driven as what the band has played in the past.
