Where it all began for Korn. I gotta say, in my angrier years I was a Korn fanboy and this was my favorite album by em. Years have gone by, my musical taste has matured a lot, and im not the angry young man I once was but you know what...I still can spin this album and enjoy it. It doesn't seem fake or contrived when it comes to Johnathan Davis, and I just love the groove the rest of the band displays. Blind still gets me pumped and is the highlight for me. Korn may have gone way down hill since their debut, and they may be regarded as a joke nowadays, but it should be known that they didn't always suck, becuase they released this.

In 1994, Korn unknowingly released an album that would eventually change the hard rock/metal landscape of the mid-late 90's and influence hundreds of copy-cats. Korn primarily took influences from funk-metal artists from the late 80's and early 90's (Faith No More, RHCP, Jane's Addiction, Primus, and others.) Then they took their own spin on the style by adding down-tuned 7-string guitars (a relatively new idea at the time) and hip-hop beats. That's basically the sound of the album. But what sets Korn apart from the imitators is the lead singer, Jonathan Davis, who can go from melodic singing to a guttural scream to gibberish in a snap. His lyrics are very angry and angst-ridden with claims of child abuse as well. The whole album is very angry and at the end the anger breaks down into sobbing. Whether these emotions are real or not, they are very powerful and you can really feel the pain of J.D. Detractors of the album (mainly metal elitists) complain about the simplicity of the guitars, the lack of guitar solos, and the repetitiveness. Don't listen to the metal elitists who claim Korn are posers and put aside the fact that there are few to no guitar solos and the guitar riffs are rather simple, and you still have an excellent album. Korn may not be for everyone, but if you are looking for an angry, heavy, funky, and adrenaline-filled album, then look no further than this album. Highly recommended.

This is when Korn first started out and were mostly loved by everyone. Now of course they seem to be most hated for Nu-Metal. I've always respected Korn, and they would sometimes showed some downfalls, but this didn't mean they were gonna remain terrible because of some petty weaknesses or reasons to automatically hate them it looked like.
Just because they aren't like the way they were when they made this album doesn't mean they still can't be considered good for there new sounds or discovered areas they decided to try. My favorite songs on this album are Blind, Ball Tongue, Clown, Faget, and Helmet In The Bush.

One of the greatest Nu Metal album and also one of my favorites. This album was simply nothing but angry and painful due to the songwriting and topics from Jonathan Davis. I remembered I first heard "Blind" I was like "Wow, these guys are something". I just had to check more from Korn and all the stuff I did in the past made me into a Korn fan. "Clown" and "Faget" are simply the songs I really love and cannot say anything bad about it and if you love songs like that, there's plenty of more on the album. Korn isn't a band full of complexity but they have a great harmony in their own ways and I recommand you'll enjoy their music.

Love this album. A true classic. Its real, its dark, its fantastic. Never get bored of this album. This is a great hybrid album of metal, rock, funk, hip hop. Brilliant.

Easily the best Korn album-every song on here is memorable as hell and packs so much emotion behind it-everything from the really down tuned guitars to the thundering bass lines are absolutely amazing on here and who could forget Jon Davis' emotionally intense screams and angst-filled lyrics.

One of the angriest releases out there and still something that sounds more fresh than ninety percent of music. This is actually a more than listenable slice of nu-metal that many bands wish they could have had the success of and still have lasting value but dont. Korns self titled was a landmark, innovative release that stands out as one of the best its genre ever produced

I am reluctant to call this a classic, but at the same time I can't deny Korn's debut that status. This album just about single handedly created the nu-metal genre which didn't last very long before it become overcrowded and cliche, but nonetheless continues to have an impact on popular music. This was a totally different beast with the super detuned 7-string guitars, whisper to scream vocals, and hip pop like drumbeats. The only thing that really hampered this album was Jonanthan Davis's incessant whining and sophomoric lyrics which still wasn't enough to hold this back. I can't say that this album has aged well, but it still has a rightful place atop the nu-metal heap.

1 Blind
It starts of with a catchy intro that slowly changes until Jonathan davis screams are you ready!!!!! then the riffs kick in and boy is that riff awesome. This song is very alternately and has a great sense of dread. 9.10
2 Ball tongue
This is the first song that features the jd scat. the song kicks of with the beginning riff that will groove you. this song has a weird twitchy riff an awesome chorus, a weird mid part love it. 8.10
3 Need to
This might be my favourite of the album it has a frigging catchy rif and good lyrics awesome bass and cool drum patterns. this song just screams korn. 10.10
4 Clown
this song opens with a conversation between the band members.
i personally don't like this song i just find it boring exept the weird distorted riff(love it) 6.5.10
5 Divine
This song is fast catchy vicious and as always catchy. just listen to it 9.10
6 faget
faget is a long progressive song with jonathan just freaking out about him being called gay. this song has a nasty atmosphere and cool parts 8.10
7 Shoots and ladders
a doomy song with nursery rhymes, bag pipes and jibberish you gotta love it 7.10
8 Predictable
This song starts with a very awesome riffs but the chorus and the vocals don't hold up to the riff sadly. 6.10
9 Fake
a good intro Soft couplet .Crazy chorus and an interesting mid part .8.10
10 Lies
This is the song where head sings the chorus and it works good. this song is groovy sick atmospheric an just awesome 9.10
11 helmet in the bush is a cover that works out well
12 daddy

Even if this is korn's best album i don't think ill ever wanna listen to it besides i heard a few songs from it back in the day when i still thought 'the bizkit' was cool and would listen to significant other everyday on the school bus in 4th grade.

And would sing along and its funny now that I look back on it cause the lyrics were not meant for

But Yeah This Album was the best thing to happen to Nu-Metal
And to me. I seriously love Korn But Lately There New Stuff Is...Well Shit. I Mean Come On Theres No Way I Can Seriously Sit Back In My Room And Listen To There New Stuuf. Its Just Painful.
