Powerful guitar work from Dimebag showing that Pantera isn't the only place where he can work his magic really made this album great.
Unlike Pantera, the other aspects of the band seem to step-up just as high.

Really nice album,
as far as I'm concerned the best tracks are Blunt Force Trauma, Save Me and Fuck You.
Admittedly the lyrics are a bit dull but the performance hides it well.

Oh dear. What were the Abbott boys thinking? New Found Power takes the most forgettable elements of Pantera's so-so final album and throws in a fair chunk of neo-metal influence to make an utterly boring album. This is so painfully generic that I feel empathetic embarrasment for the brothers in that not only did they release it, but at no time did they ever think 'hey, this fucking sucks'. Pat Lachman is a combination of a cheapo Layne Staley with a cheapo Phil Anselmo with no personality or intensity at all, and does nothing but aid the feeling that zero effort was put into this release. The greatest travesty is of course that this would be the last disc released by the pre-eminent metal guitarist of the 1990s. Shame.
