Sleepyhead is an amazing track. It's the sort of synth-heavy, electro-pop goodness that puts a smile on your face every single time it comes on. It's that hole in one that every band dreams of hitting and on Passion Pit's debut EP no less. Unfortunately, the 5 other tracks on the EP are hardly up to par.
I've heard "Live to Tell the Tale" played at the GAP Outlet I work at all summer long. I heard other Passion Pit songs there and was happy, but did not realize it was a Passion Pit song. Long story short, today (two days before my contract at GAP is terminated) I was finally able to discern more lyrics then "whatever happens to you" (due to a particularly strong lull in back-to-school frenzy) and successfully googled the lyrics, discovering the name of the song! I'm so fucking pleased.
Quirky and delightful, with a bouncy production and sweet lyrics. I especially enjoy "Smile Upon Me." The only real hindrance to this group is that Michael Angelako cannot sing. I mean, he's close to tone deaf. While that undoubtedly is charming to some, it sucks for those of us who have perfect listening pitch and who cringe on every flat or outright incorrect note. I find myself singing along just so I can hear the notes that he's trying to reach.
