talented, dynamic theatrical band. i just wish the singer would make his lyrics a bit more mature. i prefer higher male vocals but sometimes he just does the feminine thing too much, none the less Craig is a good vocalist for this band. i'm glad they're alive & well with this project. again i love the dynamic of this band.
here's how to re-release an album: add some more songs (mix them into the cd so it changes the flow), take out some of the cornier parts of the original (like a stupid poem to end the CD) and add acoustic tracks that actually have some production value to them. this is better than the original because it flows a better and the new tracks are well worth listening to. my significant complaint is why they took out "teeth the size of piano keys". I actually ended up keeping that track on my itunes and intermixing it with the other tracks.
Its Bone Palace Ballet + 4 alleged "b-sides" that are better than most songs on the album proper. Had BPB included these four songs and done away with a few of the lackluster ones on the initial release, it would have been a much better album. All four extra tracks are heavier than everything on the album (save for The Undertaker's Thirst...), and show what BPB could have been had it not focused on trying to create an overly symphonic post-hardcore opera.
The DVD is fairly similar to any other DVD nowadays. It contains live footage (which is decent) and some behind the scenes stuff of the band goofing off on the tour bus and outside random venues. Basically, if you enjoyed BPB, this would be worth the extra cash. If you weren't a big fan, just download the 4 new tracks off of iTunes or something...
Also, this will not do anything to change your mind about Craig Owens for those who can't stand him...
As Chiodos evolves, Craig's voice begins to meld cleanly into the music more and more. The guitar is still melodic and technical, the drums and bass work seamlessly together, and the lyrics/vocals are strong and booming.
The new songs on the album are actually better than most on the previous version. If you aren't annoyed by Craig's singing and actually like Chiodo's other work, I definitely recommend buying this.
very good stuff. the new tracks really are better than more than half of those initially released on bone palace ballet. alls well that ends well poops all over this album tho....me gusta chiodos!
