The Minutemen realized what the progressive rockers and the glam metallers never did: technical and instrumental talent must be balanced with strong songwriting ability, restraint, individuality, and something to say.
i'm coming clean, i'm rating this album without actually listening to every song. I don't need to though, the first 20 are so spectacular i dont even need the rest. but i guess i have them for when i'm ready. But seriously, these songs have huge grooves and huge heart, and that in itself is a accomplishment. D. Boon and Mike Watt did great things for punk.
