Even alternative rock of the late 80's was better than any 90's acts during the explosion in the genres popularity in that decade. Radiohead, Nirvana, Placebo, all of them were annihilated where they stood before they even took hold by this amazing work by none other than Jane's Addiction. It set the curve and was never beaten. A true classic

while Dave Navarro's guitar work soars, the rhythm section grooves, and Perry Farrell's lyrics haunt, the album isn't a bonafide classic. this is mainly due to dated production and occasionally uninspired songwriting (ie. Pigs in Zen, Idiots Rule)

Wedged between boisterous 80's metal and the early roots of grunge and alternative rock, with doses of heavy funk, psychedelia and guitar pyrotechnics. It's overbearing and obnoxious at its worst, pleasant and fun at its best.

one of the most amazing alternative hard rock albums in the world. its got catchy songs, roaring rockers, and spacey psychedelic moments. perry farell and dave navarro are an excellent combo

Ah, Jane's Addiction. The band that turned me onto alt-rock in the first place. How could I forget? From its progressive, moody melodies ("Ted, Just Admit It...," "Summertime Rolls") to its peppy, catchy numbers ("Had a Dad," "Standing in the Shower, Thinking...") to its abrasive, roaring rockers ("Ocean Size," "Mountain Song"), helped by the classic "Jane Says," Nothing's Shocking is easily Jane's Addiction's most classic album. Recommending it for all alt-rock diehards and most rockers.
