I feel like these guys aren't meant to be taken seriously, but the more I see them on MTV and hear them on the radio, I can't help but feel like they're actually serious and think that this constitutes as decent music. I would really hate to knock them off of their high horse of undeserved self satisfaction, but this album fucking blows. Whether its their emo tendencies (i.e. "L-O-V-E 's just another word i never learned to pronounce"), awkward zingers ("Shh girl shut your lips/ do the Helen Keller and talk with your hips") ,even more awkward gangsta moments ("Holla' Holla' at me if you on my block"), all blended nicely together with awful, awful, just awful beats, this album pretty much fails at all fronts. I mean, is this supposed to be funny? Ok, so here is the spectrum of awkward white boy meant to be funny music: The Lonely Island's "I'm on a Boat" would be a 10. It is so blatantly and obviously meant to be ridiculous which makes is so much fun to listen to. But here (this is obviously a 1), I find myself thinking that these guys are putting up a serious effort to make real music and that this is how they write songs about how they feel. Maybe I'm wrong. Maybe I'm out to just piss some people off, but this is how i feel. This album, and this band, suck beyond belief.
It's not deep or revolutionary, but that's not what they were aiming for. You can tell throughout the whole album that they're having a damn fun time and they really enjoy what they're doing. If you're looking for an album that is just plain fun to listen to, and a band that doesn't take themselves too seriously, this is a great one.
