What I like about this is that while it's politically motivated, it doesn't seem like one-dimensional proselytizing; they're painting an image of the angst of their era, and it's a fair one. Yes, there's only two riffs per song, but there's something about this that's more special than other dumb hardcore albums. There's a kind of oppressive melancholy about it.

HNSNSN is an album that's influence outweighs it's content. It's probably one of the first true hardcore album, with all screamed or yelled vocals. The music is relentlessly heavy, but offers almost no variation. The tracks do flow together well, but it's hard to tell each song apart from one another. The singer's voice is pretty much exactly the same on each song, and the lyrics are usually one or two lines repeated over and over. It's definitely worth a listen though, and interesting to hear where alot of legendary 80's metal and punk got their riffs from. As it often goes, a few imitators were able to do more with the sound Discharge helped to create.

You have to like this album, it is not only one the most immitated albums ever(by bands like Disclose, Recharge, and Disfear) But is also one of the first albums to feature screaming vocals which would be common place by rock bands 15 years later. Hell Metallica even cover's a song from this album so it must be good.
