Yes a female R&B artist has released an amazing record, this coming from a guy who thinks Mesa Verde's The Old Road is one of the best records of 08. But other then being incredibly smooth and low-fi what makes this so great are some things that make The Old Road great, undeniable talent and passion. On Spirit Leona Lewis' voice soars above almost every current R&B babe out there and she doesnt need to use her (beautiful sculped) body to sell her music. Her lyrisism isn't fantastic but compared to other 'pop' 'artists' out there her lyrics are above average and if songs like Bleeding Love and Footprints in the Sand don't make you melt then you dont have a soul.
