The ultimate Firewind Album. More melody than the previous albums, but does not lose any of the guitar magic that makes Firewind what they are. The cover of Maniac was inspired, even more so than the Pictured Life cover of Between Heaven and Hell. This album has launched Firewind's career from being a great band waiting to breakthrough to being the band at the forefront of Power Metal.
Top 3 songs - Maniac, Head Up High, My Loneliness
Bottom song (there is only one disappointing song) - Life Forclosed
One of the best power metal acts today...This is their best album!Amazing album and the best song here is "head up high"....also Angels forgive me,circle of life, into the fire and remebered are amaizng songs!
In my opinion their best record. Almost all songs here are 5/5 but my favourites are Into the Fire, Mercenary Man, Angels Forgive Me, Remembered, Circle of Life and specially Head Up High. Gus G is an amazing guitar player.
Despite what I think is a very valient attempt to bring out a solid Power Metal album, this one falls short. After around 4 listens through the album, I really can't say I'm feeling it.
Whilst I can't say anything's particularly BAD about the album, I find many of the songs a little bland and difficult to get into - Head up High and Mercenary Man being a few very notable exceptions - and these tracks saved the album from a poorer rating.
Maybe it'll grow on me. But I'm doubtful.
