Magic and Loss may be a bit overdone: the tempo is ultra-slow, the subject - a little pompous, and every single song has a subtitle, often very pretentious ("The Thesis", "The Summation"). Still, it's a beautiful elegy, telling a passionate story of pain ("Dreamin'", "Goodbye Mass"), empathy ("Magician", "Sword of Damocles") and acceptance ("Harry's Circumcision", s/t). Heart-breaking.

This one gets overlooked. Not all the songs are great, but "What's Good" is a great song that got a little ignored being on this album I tink. There are three or four other really good songs. And you get naked down to earth emotion from Lou here.

While lyrically brilliant, the instrumentation is nothing special, and Lou Reed's weak voice does little to propel the music forwards.
