The Bells is arguably the most varied album Lou has ever recorded, both stylistically and quality-wise: there's the lame disco parody (?) of "Disco Mystic" and the poor pop of "I Want to Boogie with You" or "Looking for Love", but also the failed cinematic masterpiece of the title track and the accomplished family tragedies of "Stupid Man" and "Families".
