Its complicated being a wizard is a quick listen. I've listened to this album many times and just found out its based off when Jordan played for the wizards, with number 23. There catchy beats and breakdowns, but the large amount of atmospheric sound gets pretty boring alot of the time. Also the fact that it plays the one song (23 minute song) then repeats the whole thing with isolated shorter songs is a turn-off.
i don't even know man. it sounds like portugal. the man messing around with a computer accompanied with some fucking great beer and then forgetting about it the next morning, uncovering it a few weeks later and deciding to release the thing. it's a fun listen, but the entire time a general though of 'what the hell?' goes through your mind. this album had a smooth feel but doesn't seem to have any specific intention other than to entertain a little.
Portugal. The Man's weirdest endeavor proves to be one of their best. It's Complicated Being A Wizard is a 23 minute long track that attempts to blend electronic noise with alt/indie rock (sounds like another famous record I recall, Boy B or something like that,) which they do surprisingly well. The track flows well throughout and has a few standout moments. It's a new take on an old formula that isn't seen too often, It's Complicated Being A Wizard is a fun EP that shows a different side of Portugal.
