2.5 average | GamamJ | July 13th 20 | The only thing on here not BANG average is Broderick?s ridiculous skill. His solos and classical guitar parts like on Oney the Fallen are amazing. Unfortunately, the music surrounding them is nothing but very generic thrash-riffage with big choruses.

2.9 good | Trey STAFF | September 11th 15 | Kind of like Testament meets Nevermore with a singer that kind of reminds me of a more aggressive take on early Trivium vocals. There's a few parts that scream Megadeth, but mostly it's obvious why none of this would work with the previous band. Shawn Drover is as boring (yet solid) as always.

3.3 great | Voivod STAFF | August 22nd 15 | If anything, Birth and the Burial is a solid heavy/thrash metal album, but it falls a bit short as a whole; The hard vocals are excellent, but the melodic ones need to become stronger and more colorful in future releases; the arrangements themselves are merely holding their own weight, whereas the production could be a bit "louder". On the other hand, Broderick's lead guitars are on fire, whereas the band's urge in making a great album, is keeping the latter (and the band) afloat. Favourite track: Throwback.
