Flawless. I started off by giving them a 4. Then after a couple months I gave this album a 4.5. After a year of listening to this album i realized that there is not a dull moment. Darroh Suddereth is emerging as one of the most talented vocalists IMO. I am eagerly awaiting their next album and if my expectations are met then FTM will be one of the best bands today

At this point, with the current musical scene, I am desperate for music that is different. Fair to Midland is not the most out there music ever, but it is unique and creative and satisfies my craving for new music. It is epic, without being over the top, it is catchy without being fake and poppy. I strongly recommend it.

The seeds of an apple are inserted into your mind the moment Fables from a Mayfly commences, and it becomes apparent that this is an album formidable enough to soothe and poison the most neurotic of creatures. While undeniably carrying progressive influences made far more prevalent due to David Bottrill's presence, this record tells us about how Fair to Midland also don't seem too concerned on keeping things streamlined as possible whilst jumbling the strongest aspects, to the point where there's seldom brain bleach called for. Putting it all in concise, bare bones English, Fables from a Mayfly has that epic, big feel right up until the very end of its time span.

A unique and captivating record highlighted by the outstanding range of the vocalist, seemlessly transisting from unholy high notes to a deep growl. Lyrics are full of cliches and witty humour. The music itself is experimental for a band of this genre, most notably the introductions (on some tracks they fall at the end leading up to the next). Enough can't be said about this album, it's heavy, soft, emotional and meaningless at the same time. Could be the best modern rock record in the past 10 years

if not for "The Wife, The Kids, and the White Picket Fence", this album would be a god damn masterpiece. i don't hate the song, it's just a bit too pop-y for my tastes. weakest on the album simply because i don't think it quite fits, but still one of my favorite albums of all time.

This album is one of those albums where upon first listen, you realize you've stumbled upon something golden. From the first time I listened to Fables, I was incredibly intrigued and continued listening-- until it became one of my favorite albums of all time. An absolute masterpiece.

If there's one word I hate more than any word in the English language, it's "epic." I understand it being used to describe a poem, book or anything else that actually stands by the definition of "epic". This album stands by the definition. While not "epic" in length, the sure quality of it is absolutely fantastic. Although the lyrics rarely make any sense, I want to sing along with every song. The vocalist has such a great range it just helps the "epic-ness" of the album.

I admit...I gave this a 4.5 about 6 months ago. Since then, it has entered the classic realm. Not a bad song on the album, smart lyrics, great musicianship....one of the best albums of the decade.

The band's "heavy" moments are the only thing that I can see wrong with this album, they're mostly uncalled for, and actually offputting. Other then that it's an oringinal album, by an ambitious band, which is very much welcome in this day of generic "bad boys with a soft side" bands.

I've been listening to this album more than almost any other this year so far. And it's worth the repeat listens. It's really hard for me to describe the sound these guys create; it is at once complex and simplistic. I think a lot of that has to do with the lead vocalist, who puts a lot of dynamic in the band and drives a few of the songs. Or perhaps it's the keyboardist who is barely heard in the background of the album, yet adds so much to each song. Not sure...and to be frank, I don't care. All I know is that this album sounds better and better every time I listen to it, and I'd recommend it to fans of almost any type of music.

The first time i listened to this album, i knew that i had stumbled onto something great. This was the first time that i had listened to Fair to Midland, and what an experience it was. This album promises to become a classic among music lovers from several different genres, as Fair to Midland does not let any specific genre limit their sound. Fair to Midland will be a longstanding musical sensation for their sound is incredibly unique and non-genre specific.
