I stumbled upon a song called "Living Life" while watching the end credits of the movie Before Sunrise, and I can't remember when it happened but I fell in love with it so much. The song was covered by Kathy McCarty, so I then decided to Google the original songwriter and that's when I learned about Daniel Johnston. I checked the original version and I have to say that hearing it for the first time is quite an experience for me. It is haunting and beautiful at the same time. The voice. The piano. And then this album. All of it is so honest and real. This album deserves the truth of its title, Songs of Pain. It allows the listener to feel just that: pain. And it is what brings tears to my eyes. Thank you, Daniel Johnston.
