The only ...And You Will Know Us By The Trail of Dead album worth bothering with? I won't pretend to have heard them all, but from what I do know, that's the simple truth. "It Was There That I Saw You", "Invocation", "Another Morning Stoner", and "Source Tags & Codes" are all stunners, and even if the rest can occasionally feel like the band are making noise for the sake of it, it works, and the record remains a joy to listen to throughout. This album fits neatly into the lineage of epic, noisy blasts that somehow sound both dirty and heavenly, and while it's not a record that can beat Loveless or the best Sonic Youth moments on its own terms, the comparison doesn't shame them, and that is enough for me to declare this one of the finest rock records of the 21st century so far. 1 Bumps | Bump

It may have been a near perfect fluke, but 'Source Tags and Codes' is nothing less than a beast of a record. Band wistfully moves between moments of ear assaulting walls of sound to relaxed, almost jammy beauty. 'It Was There That I Saw You', 'Another Morning Stoner', 'Source Tags and Codes' are amazing, and even 'Homage' is a nice blast down AFI lane. Bump

Incredible album start to finish. One of those albums you can't just like one track but have to listen to all the way to appreciate it. But then again isn't that what all classic albums are all about? Bump

Simply one of my favorite albums ever. All the songs flow together while standing on their own merits, and the band effectively creates its own little world to explore as the dynamics shift throughout the record. Bump
