Wardrum strive to establish themselves firmly within the old school heavy/power/progressive metal circuit and they are in a haste. Messenger is the third Wardrum album in three years and sees the band in further refining its many merits, namely the crisp sound production of bassist Kostas Scandalis, the excellent (almost tech-thrash at times) rhythm section of Stergios Kourou and Kostas Scandalis, the technical riffing and the keen sense in melody of guitar shredder Kostas Vretto, and last but not least, the passionate vocals of Yiannis Papadopoulos. However, the album is plagued by songs which seem to have been written overnight, and unfortunately I've caught myself skipping them quite often. With less songs (for example, tracks 1-5,8,9 and 11), the album would be granted a much better flow and a merit similar to the previous two Wardrum albums (especially its immediate predecessor).
