At times Chino's vocals and the Isis members instruments combine to create something powerful, that has the potential to stir the soul. Though too much of the album relies on the vocals to carry it through, and Chino has a few missteps (one in particular that slightly hinders what is otherwise the albums best song: Mission Sunset). Overall though very relaxing summer music!
Chino Moreno comes together with ex-Isis members to create a beautiful and emotionally entrancing album. It's powerful, gorgeous, and lets you get lost in its beauty. One of my favorite albums of 2013.
As a massive fan of both Isis and Deftones, Palms debut album is enjoyable but falls into the trap of sounding pretty much exactly like what you'd expect it to. I'm sure it could grow on me more if given the chance, but its predictability dampens the once promising impact.
Palm's first piece of music might not live up to Chino Moreno's work in The Deftones, especially after releasing "Koi No Yokan", which is the best album I have ever heard in my life, but it still is full of experimentation and diversity. I declare Palms the best debut band of 2013.
