This is a really unique black metal venture. AW borrows alot of civil war era musical technique... from the way certain passages are chanted to flutes and fiddles. Eastcoast USBM at it's finest. It's very epic in some places where the folk metal almost transcends to viking metal. I can't explain exactly what happens in Patriarchs, but it's one of the strangest black metal songs I've ever heard. Any fan of black, folk, or even viking metal should definitely check this.
