Rotting Christ follow probably for the last time so obviously the path of their debut album but now the compositions are more mature along with the vocal performance of Necromayhem. One of their best albums and a landmark in their career.A landmark of 90s black metal even though it keeps a distance from the then-dominant Norwegian scene.
Underneath the atrociously boring artwork of this album, is a sadly underappreciated black metal gem. To me, the vocalist sounds like he's barking from underwater for someone to drag his drowning body from a murky swamp. The tone of the guitar is thick, I like this because it gives me a break from the usually thin tones of many other black metal bands. The keyboard adds a lot to the atmosphere, for an example of this I suggest you check out the title track on the bands unofficial myspace (www.myspace.com/messiahmisfortune).
This is an awesome album, one of my favorites of the genre, and it shouldn't be missed.
