An album that will surely divide the fans, "Vibrato" is a step in a new direction for Gilbert. Here's an album that (largely) drops the virtuoso shred for a new jazz fusion / progressive style. There's also vocals on most of the songs, and while they're not the best ever, they don't take themselves too seriously and can be a fun listen at times. IMO, this is a big step up for Gilbert. The music is jazzy, funky and just a fun listen. Listen with an open mind and give it a few spins before you judge, a brilliant record that has the balls to try something new and challenge the listener. Recommended.

I just miss the old days where Paul Gilbert used his Ibanez PGM guitars plugged to Laney amps, he was on fire those days.rThis album is sort of a mix between Fusion, Jazz and Progressive rock.rIt's not bad, but that's not the Paul Gilbert we all know from "Burning Organ" or "Flying dog".rThe "fun factor" is not there anymore. The most disappointing PG album for me, the only one that did not keep me listening for months.
