I don't know if it's beatdown hardcore or some sludgier form of deathcore, but whatever it is, it's pretty punishing. It's kind of monochromatic, given that not many riffs are actually played and those that do always come with chugs, so there isn't much in the way of dynamics. It's boneheaded, almost humorously so, but darned if it's not catchy as can be. No matter what, be they breakdowns, slams, or what ever else have you, they're catchy and mosh-worthy through and through. The only times where this is broken are the opening minutes to "Mala Mujer" and "Cold", which have clean sung female vocals and a decent drone respectively. Alas, an album consisting of this type playing style can get a bit tiresome after a while, and the album's later tracks suffer as a result. Despite that, this is a good beatdown hardcore/sludgy deathcore album that really packs a punch.

An absolutely crushing and brutal Combo of Hardcore, Sludge Metal, Death Metal and a spicy Mexican twist. Essential listen for those who are fans of this new wave of Fuck-You-Up-Hardcore-Meets-Metal. Hard 3.5-Light 4

With a doom edge, this hardcore band really puts a through bullets through your ears with this stunning and heavy release. The drawn out guitars and heavy drumming (and heavy EVERYTHING), Xibalba is a force to be reckoned. They show that they may be a slave only to their own redundant sound, but are otherwise very creative and enjoyable.

"I've found peace in darkness" one sentence that sums up the whole album

First listen is a 3. Some of the riffs are fucking awesome and they blend many different influences really well. The production's crazy good as well. My only problem with it is the length. 55 minutes is too long, especially for a hardcore album. With a lot of the tracks running over 5 minutes, even up to 8 minutes, it makes it difficult to keep concentration. An improvement over their debut, but still has many flaws.

This band gets a lot of hype and I don't really get it I guess. This album has a few stand out moments but its quite boring as well. Its good for when you just want something heavy, even though there are still many far better options to choose from.

WTF guys ?! This album is awesome ! The production is just one of the best I've ever heard on CD and it's a perfect blend of death metal, sludge and hardcore. In comparison to this, any All Out War album is a My Little Pony episode !
