I can't believe so many people have slept on this album this year. A mesmerizing blend of progressive rock, jazz fusion and post-hardcore with phenomenal musicianship. It's like Coheed And Cambria on drugs.
Yet another interesting experiment/progressive rock album to come out this year. Similar to the likes of Art By Numbers and Via Coma, Thank You Scientist incorporate many different genres and instruments in their music (everything from pop punk to funk to Mexican with violins, mandolins, and trombones), apply strange, sometimes awkward, songs tructures, and intensely focus on their instrumentation. The music can be described as complex, silly, gimmicky, and intricate all at once - and the band seems to be well aware of that, striving for that exact effect. At times these attitudes and musical choices seem inconsistent and ridiculous (like the overly long horn solo in track 4), but for the band is always entertaining and often refreshing.
