 | toxin. yeah this isn't a bad piece but i'm just not a fan of the sound of a violin when it goes high. it sounds wayyyy too strained for me. this piece is no different, though to be fair i'm not fond of this performance either. 3:48, the violin shredding (basically), is pretty awesome though

 | Omaha Honestly, man, I can't really pinpoint myself down to a specific genre or scene. As of late, I've been particularly interested in math rock groups, but I'm not sure if it's a lasting or temporary phase. And that's really cool! What characters did you find yourself using the most? I think my favorites are Falco, Sonic and Lucas.

| Atari well if you like dio i would recommend dio-era rainbow. they're techinically hard rock not metal but whatevs. also can't really think of too many band's that sound like metallica but you might actually like anthrax. check the song 'armed and dangerous' for a sample of the some of the vocalists most impressive singing voice.

 | CK In reference to your soundoff, no it is not the same Rest. This Rest is from Ireland and they started off as a post-rock band which basically became a Mastodon without vocals. Seriously, if you like Mastodon's first three albums but hate the vocals then I Hold The Wolf is probably for you

| Lakes i don't have any experience with vx but i'm pretty sure it's very similar to ace. and i have a few issues with ace (the mapping system is stupid, everything's on one layer), but on the whole i'd rather use it than 2k3 any day of the week. everything is color coded in events and the font is much larger and more readable so it's really easy to see what you're doing

He's greatly overrated as far as the actual music goes, but his compositional methods , processes and directional theories were seminal in enhancing 20th century avant-garde, plus he gave us Feldman.... a post-genius. I think Cage's sonatas for prep. Piano are pretty decent, try those; but I would rather start with Schoenberg/Webern, Wolpe, Berg, then Ustvolskaya/Guba etc
