    February 26 12:17 PM
  • GhostOfSarcasticBtrd R.I.P. to me.
    February 25 06:52 PM
  • Rowan5215 haha yeah man, heyday by the church. they're an australian post punk band, bit darker and more jangly than the chameleons really, it shouldn't be super hard to find
    February 21 08:36 PM
  • hal1ax Ya bro chocolate habs // 7pots and u won't ever want to cook with anything else. I wonder if u can buy rare peppers around where u live? I know I'm LA there are these bi-monthly outdoor produce markets where u can buy all sorts of exotic whatever the fck
    February 21 02:28 AM
  • hal1ax yaaa the ghost is approx 1mill i think. flavor on those is ayt.. nothing too extraordinary tho. i tend to lean more toward the peppers with those tropical flavor profiles. oh dude also keep an eye out for chocolate habaneros! it's one of the hottest habanero strains, even more so than the red savina's. they have the flavor of the typical orange ones but with some smokiness and earthiness as well. i would imagine they would be killer in that bbq sauce.
    February 21 02:06 AM
  • hal1ax man my heat tolerance is so high these days that jalapenos don't even phase me. um, but ya as far as heat // flavor i would have to go with habaneros. i also really like serano's as well, those things can get way hotter than jalapenos. and yo if u ever decide to grow some u gotta cop come chocolate 7 pot seeds. they have best flavor hands down. over 1million scoville units too
    February 21 01:13 AM
  • VirtualBlaze Oh, I completely agree. I feel bad starting that album anywhere else from that track.
    February 15 05:25 PM
  • zakalwe Never!!!!!
    February 15 03:43 PM
  • VirtualBlaze Been a fan since like 2012. I didn't have AOTYs in 2014, but looking back, Deliverance was definitely my AOTY for that year. How did you find him?
    February 15 01:53 PM
  • zakalwe Ello space dude. I've just returned from a ban for ranting about Less Than Jake. lol. Hope you're well mate.
    February 15 04:08 AM
  • Chortles haha if you can call it that my dude! but yeah zen arcade was fkin unbelievable for me in my life, tbh opened my eyes to the beauty of aggression
    February 14 04:38 PM
  • Chortles nice!! that's a good way to put it. husker du pretty much molded my taste in punk and hardcore, i'll love them forever

  • modpack worth it's while in double, literally.
    February 10 06:31 PM
  • modpack "Finally, he broke through on August 19th, with the live stream changing that would be worth it's while in double, literally."
    February 10 06:24 PM
  • modpack yeah I feel that. I'm fairly sure 95% of sput can't read (sprfanof5h's approval rating should say enough)
    February 10 05:58 PM
  • modpack whatever works tbh.
    February 10 05:22 PM
  • modpack yeah aight.
    February 10 05:07 PM
  • bloc Coincidentally, I just finished checking out their discog in the past couple of weeks. I ended up liking A Northern Soul the most. A Storm and Urban Hymns were good too, but they may have to grow on me. I actually thought they were both kinda dull. Fourth was crap though.
    February 10 10:26 AM
  • guitarded_chuck i once heard that you have to be a member for one hundred years to be consider a "non-newbie"
    February 8 09:55 AM
  • sixdegrees listening as we speak, try this on for size: https://weird1.bandcamp.com/album/desert-love-for-lonely-graves-lp-2013 also The Ecstasy of Saint Theresa- Susurrate, since its a classic and you don't have it rated. also Moonshake- First and Moose- Jack for more quality 1st wave EPs.
    February 6 05:07 PM
  • sixdegrees u want the gaze?
    February 6 04:49 PM
  • Chortles very true, i'm a boring **** when it comes to variety in cooking so if it weren't for her i would probably devolve into a neanderthal in time
    February 6 07:38 AM
  • Chortles there shoulda been a severance package, you still get chili sent to you monthly or something to make it easier. but yeah if you can find anyone that can cook oh man what a deal. my current gf is pretty good at cooking but she also likes to "experiment" every now and then which can lead to varied results..
    February 6 05:15 AM
  • Chortles spicy and protein packed. van gogh chili baby. dude if you ex makes bomb chili then how is she an ex??
    February 6 04:20 AM

    February 3 01:40 PM
  • Cygnatti indeed it is. kanye wasn't the first rapper to sample a prog rock band ~~~
    February 1 09:52 PM
  • Cygnatti btw, i think you'll find this song a tad familiar ;) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3uclxW5WS-M
    February 1 09:33 PM
  • Cygnatti i'm super glad u dig, dude. and i totally understand what you're saying. i had a slight suspicion that it would be one of those albums that think it's better than it actually is, but no! quite the opposite, actually. it's incredibly subtle and nuanced the entire way through. lush and engaging but is never "too much", so to speak.
    February 1 09:32 PM
  • Cygnatti primary: neo-psych, dream pop. secondary: prog pop, post-rock, dub, ambient-pop, experimental rock, downtempo.
    January 26 07:34 PM
  • Cygnatti these tags are much much more accurate, and even then, they're pretty wrong. http://i.imgur.com/hY3EJ3K.png

  • GhostOfSarcasticBtrd Hey so Michael Tanner (https://www.cato.org/people/michael-tanner) is a great source for this and you can click the "Studies" and "Reviews and Journals" stuff on that page for some great research and analysis. Hope this helps.
    January 20 07:09 PM

    January 18 12:28 PM
  • TVC15 s*** I need to find a vinyl rip then
    January 18 12:11 PM
  • TVC15 Silver Album also kinda reminds me of A Place to Bury Strangers' album Exploding head with the drums and reverb
    January 18 09:19 AM
  • TVC15 You weren't lying when you said it's the closest album to Loveless I'll find! My jaw actually dropped when I saw that it was released in 2007. Seems like I also forgot to rate it lol.

    January 16 07:35 PM
  • OmairSh A lot of people seem to be enjoying it, but I'm a bit underwhelmed. Damn Daniel for saying it was a heavier return to their roots, that affected my expectations. I need more time to digest it properly, but I think I' just not in the right mood to appreciate it properly
    January 16 02:28 PM
  • Titan i agree, doesn't make me feel better today though.....i just want it to end now

  • OmairSh Yo Space, heard the new POS yet?
    January 16 05:25 AM
  • Rowan5215 yeah wayne is a lot less of a presence than he used to be, this is a very instrumental focused album which I'm fine with. really wish we'd got more terror-type stuff but ah well
    January 12 10:59 PM
  • Rowan5215 it's probably closest to yoshimi over anything else, really driven by some sweet trip hoppy beats all the way throughout, but it's got embryonic's psychedelic s*** happening too
    January 12 10:53 PM
  • Rowan5215 leaked today (sssh don't tell anyone)

    January 6 07:08 AM
  • LambsBread The review I wrote for that album is trash cuz I had just heard of the artist for the first time. But a couple years later it's my favorite album of all time

    December 31 03:50 PM
  • Chortles Dude shawshank is a cold classic. I saw u voted against trainspotting tho and idk if I can forgive u for that. if u haven't seen it you must watch, it might be my favorite film ever tbh or at least in the top 5

  • Chortles i really like the theaters but they are so expensive, actually going tonight for like the second time this whole year and i bought my tickets ahead of time: around 14 usd each, ****ing ridiculous
    December 30 04:09 AM
  • Chortles def get that, i was more of a video game kid too - i mean we have talked about it before a lot but it was the god damn golden ages for us (im assuming we are around the same age) to grow up with video games. movies definitely have a completely different feel and impact though, just took me a bit to realize that
    December 30 04:08 AM
  • Chortles oh really? that's pretty interesting to me. i think i've always been interested in movies but i wasn't actually seeking good stuff out until i was an adult (same for music really). imdb was/is a really good reference point but now i kind of just watch what's interesting or try to watch more movies from directors that i discover i really like etc etc
    December 30 02:54 AM
  • Chortles understandable, i mean i can definitely see why. i'm somewhere in the middle, god knows there's so many classics i haven't seen yet but i try to throw in some lesser known flicks as well. all my faves are really well known anyway tho so i'll never b elite!!!
    December 29 04:59 PM

  • hal1ax this is considered a pretty legendary coldwave album --- Siekiera~Nowa Aleksandria.
    November 30 07:56 PM
  • hal1ax coldwave is basically europe's gloomy / atmospheric / depressive version of new-wave/post-punk. it is very synth-oriented too
    November 30 07:53 PM
  • hal1ax actually maybe try /// Lebanon Hanover~Tomb for Two. they are much less 'cold'wave but they still cool as fuhh
    November 30 07:51 PM
  • hal1ax ya my man of course! and fck no that is a very insightful comparison actually. kraftwerk was one of the first every 'coldwave' groups so u more spot on than u think with that. but ya i love them. i wish i had more coldwave similar but sadly it's a pretty small musical spectrum
    November 30 07:38 PM
  • sach it's coming to a bit of a head (i.e. the choice is alcohol or homelessness), so I think there's a good chance I might kick it this time. fingers crossed at least.
    November 30 04:05 AM
  • sach it's all case-by-case yeah. but for me, at my worst with opiates, i was able to get up in the morning and function. not well necessarily, but i was able to get up and do things. with alcohol i had days where i wouldn't get out of the bed, days where all i could do was put the bottle to my mouth etc... hell even now i've had close to 1L of vodka and this is a quiet day.
    November 30 03:48 AM
  • sach i'd argue alcohol is almost as debilitating as opiates (when abused "correctly")... almost to the point where the only cure for the hangovers is/was another bottle of vodka
    November 30 03:38 AM
  • sach it unlocks my lethargy and "boredom" i know that much!!!! it also grows my brain cells, which is good. it's like a supplement for me.
    November 30 03:31 AM
  • sach yeah, dude WEED
    November 30 03:25 AM
  • sach tf u laughin at ****er
    November 30 03:17 AM
  • macman76 Yeah, the social sciences are sort of going through a realignment of sorts. There is a push to increase replications of classic or popular studies, preregistering what statistical tests are to be preformed before a study is conducted, and to in general have more scrutiny wrt what methods researchers employ. Unfortunately, the incentives will only get worse as grant money goes away from researchers.
    November 30 01:11 AM
  • macman76 "Life-Hacky" might not be the right term. Rather, some researchers are spending less time developing and testing sound theories and are rather collecting a lot of data, doing a lot of tests, and publishing papers out of statistically significant results. This article talks about how it affects nutritional sciences: http://fivethirtyeight.com/features/you-cant-trust-what-you-read-about-nutrition/.
    November 30 12:56 AM
  • macman76 The author of the power pose study published with about 40 subjects and nobody has been able to replicate her results since. However, her results got her a book deal, a TED talk, and an appearance on Colbert.
    November 30 12:51 AM
  • macman76 yeah, I read that blog regularly, the guy is a political scientist/statistician and he argues that often many experimental conditions will have some effect, but it will often be tiny relative the noise of your estimate. Sometimes you'll find an effect that's big and significant, but extremely unrealistic and unreplicable especially when you have a small sample size. Currently, though, there is an incentive for scientists to find life-hacky type effects. For example, search "power pose".
    November 30 12:49 AM
  • macman76 http://andrewgelman.com/2015/03/02/what-hypothesis-testing-is-all-about-hint-its-not-what-you-think/http://andrewgelman.com/2016/11/13/more-on-my-paper-with-john-carlin-on-type-m-and-type-s-errors/
    November 29 11:12 PM
  • macman76 I don't remember much from my formal stats courses, but the p-value would be your type 1 error. Whatever your t-stat is (which would be calculated given the difference between your mean and the null mean as your "u", and the SD as the SD calculated, and from a t-distribution with degrees of freedom of 14 (n-1)), you find the corresponding p-value for your t-stat. I hated my stats course, so I don't remember terminology very well and frankly I've read too much about how hypothesis testing is bad.

  • GhostOfSarcasticBtrd The best* yeah I know. They're also the ones that piss off lefties the most cause they are the most political of the sciences and statistics as a field is basically the left's sworn enemy when used appropriately. If you combine good stats knowledge with understanding of human biodiversity leftist ideology crumbles before you. Unfortunately most don't know how do to this and there are also SUPER taboo aspects of it.
