    October 13 04:47 PM
  • ArsMoriendi And to me Amnesiac's a 5. I guess it comes down to personal preference.
    October 6 09:33 PM
  • Storm In A Teacup Yes. I did question it but I was only 14. He said he was proud of inventing it and that I was the first person he used it on...smh so dumb. My mom was not happy but I was fed up and didn't understand the consequences of not receiving treatment so we stopped going to him and I never sought treatment after that one time of trying.
    October 6 09:28 PM
  • Storm In A Teacup Also he was a therapist as well and he was fairly eccentric lol.
    October 6 07:21 PM

    October 6 07:54 AM
  • Storm In A Teacup my add test was to sit in a dark room and hit a button everytime I heard a chirp. halfway through I just hit the button multiple times and ignored the chirp because I was in there forever and going crazy. the guy said it was his new test he had invented and that I passed and didn't have add. I was pissed off.
    October 6 04:20 AM
  • zakalwe Cheers man. Absolute quality. Can't help but think of bjork coming in from the rain though. I don't know why. :D
    October 4 03:45 PM
  • Chortles been jamming that autolux alb lately and it's pretty dope dude, thanks for the baller rec!
    October 3 11:05 AM
  • MrSirLordGentleman check ELO and Supertramp for perfect mix of pop and prog m8 (specially Supertramp if you also want beautiful lyrics)
    October 2 05:51 PM
  • Cygnatti yeah dude, like handing out 4's to every other thing you hear seems disingenuous or just cheap. but at the same time, if tons and tons of your ratings are super low (1's and 2's), why are you wasting your time listening to s*** that you don't like? in the end, it's just a balance. rate what you will. listen to what you like. not everything is a 4. but don't spend too much time listening to s*** either (seems ironic for me but again 2.5 isn't bad imo). ^_^
    October 1 04:18 PM
  • Cygnatti i personally don't think "2.5/5" is such a bad rating. meaning it has some good moments and some not. 3.0's should have consistency, in that it's consistently good throughout. but i can't say something has to be "above average" to be a 3.0-good, bc music is multifaceted and subjective in nature, as are interpretations of music. so basically, just rate things based on how much you like it, what it evokes from you, what it makes you feel and so forth~
    October 1 12:16 AM
  • Cygnatti honestly dude, this issue is either extremely simple or extremely complicated. there are a lot of reasons why i rate things low, but i guess one of the bigger ones would be: oh i have this rated 3.5/5! ...but why? i don't really remember anything about this. i don't wanna question why i have something rated as "great", if it were really all that "great" why can't i remember it's greatness? so to speak. a lot of ratings wound up not really meaning anything and i wanted to adjust.
    October 1 12:12 AM
  • Futures check this lol the nra tells me a vote for johnson is a vote for hillary but nancy pelosi and obongo tell me it's a vote for trump. WHICH IS IT

    September 27 11:05 PM
  • iloveyouall DON'T DRINK FOSTERS
    September 27 10:45 PM
  • iloveyouall can get coors but only in bottles as far as i know, and it's fairly expensive too since it's an import. i normally go for stella or peroni if i'm going to part with that much... and it's not really worth getting s***faced on expensive beer because then you feel bad the next day. don't mind me a nice ipa if i'm taking it easy tho. just nothing too fruity i guess. i stay away from cider for a reason.
    September 27 10:38 PM
  • iloveyouall my go to cans are normally "victoria bitter" or as they're colloquially known "vbangas". not a great beer, but fairly cheap and quite drinkable (give or take the gassiness). tooheys new go alright too, but they are practically undrinkable unless they're ice cold (and even then the aftertaste is ****ing piss). coronas would be good if i could ****ing afford them...
    September 27 10:27 PM
  • iloveyouall yah i feel. need to get a beer or two in me to get the words flowin and the mind wanderin normally. like in the yeezus thread i was probably 8 down lmao

    September 22 07:21 AM
  • zakalwe Yes dude big time. Curry took off over here in the 60s/70s and was the nations fave dish for about 20yrs, probably still is. Birmingham, Manchester and London are curry Meccas but every small town here has a curry house.
    September 22 06:25 AM
  • Futures i know dude haha. like these people usually can see the war on drugs is a disaster but can't see how gun control won't work? prohibition has never worked in the history of the world.
    September 22 03:08 AM
  • Futures exactly lol. just so frustrating to see people ignore facts like there are 30 million ars in the us. how are you going to take them all?
    September 22 03:02 AM
  • Futures arguing with gun control proponents makes my head explode
    September 22 02:22 AM
  • RadicalEd I mean I'm super liberal and leftist and even I can't keep up with some of the things that guys like Sinternet are throwing out there, but it's good to see points from all sides being discussed. Even if many of the sputnikkers are more left/liberal, there are a good chunk of differing viewpoints as well which is nice.
    September 21 06:33 AM
  • RadicalEd Thx for the kind words. Tbh I think sput is mostly a surprisingly good place to talk about stuff like that, even though some people just s***posting, you get to see a big range of viewpoints, because we all came together as music lovers and not as democrats or republicans or feminists or whatever other identity.
    September 21 06:18 AM
  • iloveyouall i actually didn't, i just wanted to have a go at u~~
    September 21 02:02 AM
  • Futures awesome man so glad to hear that. check this out if you don't mind the length goes into a lot of issues. or just go to their campaign website. or just ask me haha.
    September 21 12:50 AM
  • Futures yep which is a ridiculous rule in the first place and put in place by the two party duopoly to keep competition out. a lot of people are pissed. there are almost a million (!) signatures on his website calling for him to be in the debates. a lot of big newspapers have come out in support of that as well. i think if we keep pushing he could get in and if he gets in i truly believe he could win.
    September 21 12:46 AM
  • Futures haha i understand being in a swing state obv makes it tougher. but if you're not voting trump give johnson a shot! he is polling around 10-11% nationally. hopefully he can get into the debates and win this whole thing.
    September 21 12:03 AM
  • Futures yep that sounds about right. anti war is another big libertarian thing. anti interventionism not isolationism. have you considered voting for gary johnson?
    September 20 11:34 PM
  • Futures hell yeah dude those are all libertarian principles especially the cake thing freedom of association. basically libertarianism is as long as you aren't harming anybody anything goes as well as having conservative anti spending, anti inflation economic policy.
    September 20 11:11 PM
  • Futures oh hell yeah dude. any questions i could answer i've been one since 2012. i would venture to say most people who call themselves republicans and are young are actually libertarians. assuming your down with gay marriage, marijuana legalization and pro choice?
    September 20 10:57 PM
  • Futures ah you're republican? kinda in the same boat i'm libertarian. get a lot of s*** on here and in general

  • sixdegrees yeah I like how serene that album sounds even when they go for the wall of of the guitarists plays drums now in a band called La Casa al Mare, who are a bit more conventional shoegaze but still very good.
    September 18 07:53 AM
  • sixdegrees fair enough, good to know they haven't dropped off the face of the earth at least.
    September 18 07:35 AM

    September 18 07:16 AM

    September 18 06:39 AM

  • Tyler. i got to the guitar melody about 30 seconds in and was sold
    September 1 03:58 PM
  • zakalwe It's more or less all in jest bro. Take 80% of what I say about you lot with a pinch of salt.
    August 29 05:47 PM
  • zakalwe All the time dude. There's some things I'd have loved growing up. Surfing, skateboarding and all that stuff if I was California but I'd be more at home as a New York Street urchin doing petty thefts to pay for musical equipment and being in an alt/punk band with connections to the art elite. COOL!!!!!
    August 29 05:27 PM
  • OmairSh Nusrat's strength for me is the emotion in his vocals (having a good range also helps obviously). People really connect with his poetry and lyrics on an emotional level, and that's one of the reasons he stood out in the entire subcontinent. He was also not afraid to collaborate with artists of other genres, and I really like that. He was also pretty great at improvising during live performances. Glad you're enjoying his stuff
    August 29 04:19 PM
  • Chortles so all this ts2 talk made me go through my closet and find my old copy, finally found it after digging around and i played siberia first thing. what a level man ugh it's still amazing. really holds up even if the aiming is a little wonkier than i remember
    August 26 11:57 PM
  • demigod! yeah. the whole ending of the show could've used some work honestly. I still liked it but it seemed like they were rushing to end it. still sad we never got a third season :'(
    August 26 05:56 PM
  • demigod! Have a head that's always screaming!
    August 25 01:01 PM
  • OmairSh Sorry to bombard you with so much stuff :-P. As we're talking I've gotten in the mood for Nusrat and some other Pakistani music after a while. So I thought I'd share a few songs I'm listening to. And yeah, the emotion and anguish is a mainstay of classical/folk singers, that modern Pakistani vocalists replicate. And also the extreme vibrato that you hear. That's also inspired by the folk singers
    August 25 01:39 AM
  • OmairSh Nusrat's featured on songs with a few Western musicians like Eddie Vedder. (Soundtrack of Natural Born Killers), (Collab with Michael Brook),, (Collab with Eddie Vedder)
    August 25 01:33 AM
  • OmairSh Classical singers of the sub continent have a lot of anguish in their vocals, and of course they have very high octave range. Muazzam Ali is actually the nephew of the late Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan, who's basically the most famous classical/folk singer of the sub continent. Helps to have good genes :-D. Nusrat actually featured on a couple of live performances with Peter Gabriel. They were cool
    August 25 12:46 AM
  • OmairSh Yeah man I LOVE the atmosphere and groove of Neer Bharan. Zara does a fantastic job on vocals, and the backing vocalists support her brilliantly. I also love how they brought Muazzam Ali Khan for the outro (that's the guy on the second half of song #4). Zara Madani performed on another song and that one's amazing as well.
    August 25 12:18 AM
  • OmairSh Was listening to this just now. Another one of my personal favourites. Incredible atmosphere and groove. Love the bassline. I'll stop bugging you for now :-P
    August 24 01:57 AM
  • OmairSh Another couple of songs you might enjoy (I especially love the second one, haunting atmosphere). Dark folk/psychedlia. I love their instrumental outros,
    August 24 01:26 AM
  • TVC15 Did you look at my soundoff for Forged Prescription
    August 18 06:26 PM
  • Chortles ah yes i still need to download thanks for reminding! no shame in whoring out the really good stuff my man
    August 18 12:12 AM
  • Chortles word dude, so glad you dig it! like any good puzzler, that eureka feeling when you solve one is like crack man. i haven't played in awhile because i got pretty stuck, some of the later puzzles are insane. i don't want to have to look stuff up but i may be too dumb to solve them otherwise lol and i really want to finish the game because it totally absorbed me
    August 16 09:19 PM
  • zakalwe I could kiss you man. I bloody love that Autolux album, its like a more rooted deerhunter. Appalling title though.
    August 16 11:34 AM
  • Cygnatti oh no no, nothing like that pansy ass woe is me modern indie folk type s***. this s*** is bonifide and vintage bro, but i think u already figured that out lol. im drunk
    August 13 02:29 AM
  • Cygnatti psychedelic folk and not psych rock. this s*** is vintage as ****. made by some caribbean shaman or some s***. very rhythmic yet can even get heartfelt at times. it actually kinda means a lot to me somehow lol.
    August 12 05:35 AM
  • Cygnatti Exuma by exuma
    August 12 05:20 AM
  • BADBOY do you really not like music? or is that a joke? seems kind of silly that you would be on sputnikmusic if you dont even like music after all.
    August 10 09:25 PM
  • Chortles dang dude I'm so glad you're interested! no problem, always glad to spread the love. we'll definitely have to chat about it once you get it and play a bit. I'm not sure how much it is usually but I got it on a discount and it was an absolute steal
    August 8 05:37 PM
  • Chortles I got it for a few bucks on psn awhile back but I'd be surprised if it's not on steam. glad to hear it, it's pretty neat and crazy atmospheric for an indie game
    August 8 04:15 PM
  • Chortles yooo have you ever heard of/played The Swapper? all that talk in that bigass games thread has me thinking about it. really really cool 2d puzzle game, not sure if you're into that stuff but you play as an astronaut clone in space so I associate it with something you'd like automatically lol
    August 8 12:12 PM
  • zakalwe lol. Floyd have the albums and are better but I'd rather be in the trench next to sabbath man.
    August 2 01:10 AM
  • Jasdevi087 putting their names under the albums was my method of determining who had voted or not to avoid that problem, but it's irrelevant now
    July 16 02:43 AM
  • Jasdevi087 Yeah I said in the comments a couple of hours ago I'm letting in second choices cause the thread is just dead now lol. I've put in like 5 myself lmao
    July 16 02:36 AM
  • Chortles and yes the supernatural stuff was so perfectly done. just the right amount of mystery and intrigue without going into some cheezy schlog
    July 5 11:34 AM
  • Chortles word word word. I was hoping they would nail the same creepy vibes of the first season but transferred to a grimy urban sprawl locale but it really fell on its face. very boring setting and the direction was nowhere near the beauty of the first season. like there could have never been a scene as incredible as the projects scene in s1 (best single sequence I've ever seen probably) with the setting and direction of s2. such a shame. maybe they learned tho
    July 5 11:31 AM
  • Chortles damn u clever bastard. did you hear matty and nic want to do a third season? Idk how I feel about it tbh
    July 3 01:27 PM
  • Chortles brother it hurt me too. the last few times I have listened to it I haven't felt the same magic I felt when I started listening to it years ago, idk what happened man. I hope we can still be buds

  • zakalwe Yep I'll definitely have some of that mainly for the first 1min and 30secs cos it makes me feel like I'm Guybrush Threepwood traipsing around Meelee Island (the secret of monkey island, classic game, the soundtrack is uncannily similar. I lol'd) and the last 1min and 30secs cos it melts face. Cheers dude.
    April 29 06:35 PM

    April 22 11:40 PM
  • lalchimiste Sure, my favorite classics are any of Jimi Hendrix Experience. Since you dig Colour Haze, i'd rec to you the new Elder LP entitled Lore and Samsara Blues Experiment's debut. I haven't listened to it much, but Storm Corrosion's self titled (Opeth and Steven Wilson collab) sounded cool. Also, one of the most underrated band of all time : Psychotic Waltz, the best prog metal band with psych tendencies. I'd start with their first 2 LPs, A Social Grace and Into The Everflow
    April 22 10:31 AM
  • johnnydeking29 Haha you bastard! I am not wasting that comment on how I think Rush are pretty good but no way near the greatest thing ever and are pretty much my definition of a solid but not mind-blowing band
    April 14 02:35 PM
  • rockandmetaljunkie "looks like you had some really good picks even before you stumbled onto this website" Actually, I had. I started digging Rock and Metal music in 2007 and by the time I was a member of this community, I had a pretty good idea about many albums, so I didn't had to rely on the average rating. And it just so happens that I'm not influenced by the public opinion. If I listen to a low-rated album and it feels a 5 to me, I will give it a 5.
    April 10 01:47 PM
  • rockandmetaljunkie I also love your profile pic. One of the best I have seen on Sputnik.

  • OmairSh I liked it, but the lack of diversity is the issue. I'll revisit in when in the mood and might appreciate it more then. 4.5 for Holy Diver?! Yeah that's aight :-P
