  • Atari dude I know I'm prolly notorious for overrating s***, but the new sorority noise is sooolid. the guitars on "a portrait of" get me every time
    March 21 12:11 PM
  • cryptologous Your ratings are awesome. Glad to see someone else who shares the same Dillinger and Flying Lotus top picks.
    March 10 12:16 AM
  • Frippertronics okay so apparently fb won't allow it unless you message me or something first. so here's my acct: just hit me up and i'll get it confirmed

    February 14 03:44 PM
  • bgillesp The download code is yours if you want it. I guess not many people actually wanted it.
    February 12 10:42 AM
  • bgillesp Snaggle slid in at second for me. I really loved the rec, but I'm just digging the PFM too hard. Sorry about forgetting about you. Just curious, what did you think of the snaggle album since prog rock is so big on your pie chart? I did add it to the database if you wanted to rate it.
    February 9 09:48 PM
  • bgillesp Saw your comment. I apologize, but I will give you your fair shot, don't worry.
    February 9 03:12 PM
  • VaxXi Super out of nowhere, but thanks for the indirect rec for that Bad Rabbits album that you wrote a review on ages ago.
    January 23 09:28 PM
  • beachdude I did not see your message, sorry... clearly I haven't been on enough recently. I enjoyed your review of Bad Rabbits though! I'm currently reviewing a bunch of releases I enjoyed from throughout the year as a sort of catch-up now that I have more free time, that will be one of them.

  • Thealwaysopenedmind Where do you hear touch ups at? I think I heard Mess actually overlap himself one time.
    July 12 08:53 AM
  • Thealwaysopenedmind That's just his voice, in my opinion. Not every singer can have the edge and power that Kurt and Jonny have. I will admit though, he did not do Times New Roman justice at all. I just think beauty and range wise, he's got it going on more so than the others.
    July 12 08:52 AM
  • Thealwaysopenedmind What did you think of Tree City Sessions?
    July 11 12:36 PM
  • Thealwaysopenedmind The Fall of Troy and DGD are amazing, man.
    July 11 11:55 AM
  • AtomicWaste Nice! I don't really hear the Scale the Summit, but this is pretty cool. It's amazing how Dan Wieten has gotten himself into every project under the sun in the scene haha
    June 29 10:20 AM
  • AngryLittleAlchemist Ya lol
    June 12 07:54 PM

    May 24 01:48 PM
  • jesterhead92 Hey friend, you commented on my Kashee Opeiah review awhile back saying you wanted to hear the album but I didn't have a source to listen from at the time. If you're still interested in jamming it I've uploaded the whole thing to my dropbox along with the album cover and pics with the lyrics from the booklet.

    March 10 01:06 PM
  • Piripichotes I got your back bruv... No person can have a personal (as redundant as it may sound) opinion on this website...
    March 10 09:04 AM
  • Atari It's in airway heights like a 10 minute drive from where I live in Spokane haha. Not a huge gambler, but they have a really nice hotel there
    February 27 12:20 PM
  • Atari Lol thx dude. Staying the night at Northern Quest Casino tonight, should be a blast :] You may have heard of it since you're somewhat familiar with the area

    December 22 06:45 PM
  • JohnnyOnTheSpot hey Calc. still good to go?
    December 22 04:32 PM
  • JohnnyOnTheSpot if you could have it to me by Saturday that'd be sweet. it only needs to be like a small paragraph, but if you're able to write a bit more in that timeframe then great
    December 21 01:17 PM
  • JohnnyOnTheSpot right on man. email it to . thanks
    December 21 01:15 PM
  • JohnnyOnTheSpot sup Calc. would you be interested in writing a blurb or 2 for the user AOTY list?
    December 21 01:30 AM
  • SachikoM Stay happy then. Sput needs more good vibes. :)
    November 29 04:26 PM
  • SachikoM well, this place is terrible for new music that isn't indie or metal tbh, so I don't use it for that tbh. I do feel what you're saying about the cycle of sameness, and I agree, it's ****ing s***, but it's nothing to get jaded/cynical about imo. be happy. :D
    November 29 03:51 PM
  • SachikoM Why so jaded bruh? No reason to let this site wear you down. It's not to be taken seriously by any stretch of the imagination.
    November 29 03:02 AM
  • SachikoM I could swear you've been here longer than 3 years.....
    November 28 10:08 PM
  • Wolfhorde pure coincidence, plus the rainbowdicksword is actually a sputjoke referencing noctus and goes back to '11.
    November 18 11:59 AM
  • GooGooGajoob How about you sir! Would you like to review's debut? Here's a full stream:
    November 18 05:37 AM
  • Arcade not overly invested in patton's many side projects but i won't rule out giving it a listen
    November 4 08:01 PM
  • AtomicWaste Thanks for the sweet jams, friend! I think it'll take a little while to fully click, but I'm looking forward to listening to it a lot. Never really listened to Exotic Animal Petting Zoo - assuming I should check?
    November 2 12:38 PM
  • AtomicWaste Yeahhhhhh, I can dig on this
    November 2 11:31 AM
  • AtomicWaste Word, I'll give it a play in a bit here.
    November 2 08:32 AM
  • JohnnyOnTheSpot what's your favourite part about what you're doing?
    October 17 01:36 AM
  • JohnnyOnTheSpot well yea I don't exactly want to teach because I think I'll be "making a difference" necessarily tbh. like, that'd be nice, but above all else I just think I'd enjoy it :]
    October 17 01:35 AM
  • JohnnyOnTheSpot it's difficult to have a satisfying relationship with your family when you're gone half the year, so there's that. I also didn't really believe in my career - I essentially got paid 50k a year to work out and have fun and train, which as nice a gig as it was, was pretty unfulfilling tbh. it was great for a few years but I'd rather feel more rewarded, nah mean?
    October 17 01:25 AM
  • JohnnyOnTheSpot I'd like to teach high school physics lol. idk, I've always wanted to get into education. once I realized how I didn't want to make the military my career - for a loooong list of reasons - I shifted gears. sucks having to be back in school tho yeah
    October 17 01:19 AM
  • JohnnyOnTheSpot life's alright, a bit boring in that I'm plugging away at school now. but, I'm balancing school, work, and family pretty well so I'm happy. it's exam season so my music game has been suffering a bit as well.
    October 17 01:13 AM
  • JohnnyOnTheSpot hey calc what's good. how'd police training (?) pan out? idk I'm out of the loop
    October 16 10:29 PM
  • Cygnatti but anyways, i think you'd enjoy this a lot. this is nu jazz akin to the way flying lotus is nu jazz af, but this has none of the idm/wonky that flying lotus does. instead it has gorgeous downtempo vibes with chill neo-soul singin'. i def think you'd like it.
    October 6 12:31 PM
  • Cygnatti i generally like less traditional forms of music much more now. most standard rock, punk, or metal doesn't do it for me at all anymore. stuff like ambient, folk, numerous electronic genres, some jazz. but tend to really like all things psychedelic. and most forms of POP are very very enjoyable now (be it art pop, or radio pop!) ^__^
    October 6 12:28 PM
  • Cygnatti By far my fav dance punk, almost my first modern example... Everything else I've heard pales in comparison so far, not I've jammed a whole lot to begin with.
    October 6 02:14 AM
  • Cygnatti calc jam this i think you'd dig ^__^
    October 5 04:06 PM
  • JohnnyOnTheSpot np np
    September 25 11:34 PM
  • JohnnyOnTheSpot mhmmm, i thought of you

  • JohnnyOnTheSpot
    September 25 09:57 PM
  • coneren I AGREE!!
    August 23 03:07 PM
  • Ecnalzen Well, my experience is with their previous album, Thunder Pit. I have only listened to a little bit of the newer one. Try out Highabetic and Forty Creek from here:
    July 24 11:23 AM
  • Ecnalzen I like em. They are more of that southerny metalcore I have grown to love.
    July 20 03:45 PM
  • Ecnalzen Did I ever show you the band Waster? If so, did you like it? If you answered yes to both of these questions, they have another album out that I literally just discovered.
    July 15 01:19 AM
  • Cygnatti very cool, i didn't even remember rec'ing you that. I so glad you dig it! :D
    July 6 10:24 AM
  • Ecnalzen I'm pretty excited about it. Did it leak? Or is there a stream somewhere?
    June 15 08:21 PM
  • ASnideReturns Thanks dude! Would you ever consider reviewing it?
    June 6 03:24 PM
  • ASnideReturns my EP is streaming bro!
    June 4 11:08 AM
  • JohnnyOnTheSpot ya I saw he had a new one, haven't checked but it's on the list for sure. what do you think of it?
    May 14 09:47 PM
  • JohnnyOnTheSpot did u ever end up checking l'orange and jae's?
    May 6 09:30 PM
  • JohnnyOnTheSpot might be your sorta thang
    May 6 09:07 PM
  • Ecnalzen Take One Car is about the only band I have gotten into that does the spoken word thing. Even Mewithoutyou doesn't really appeal to me. Yeah, the music is cool, but I don't think I could get past that vocal style of Lakota. It's like he is just putting ridiculous vibrato on everything he is saying, ha ha.
    May 5 09:17 PM
  • Ecnalzen If you want some more southerny metalcore, they aren't a bad band to check out. I really liked III and the S/t was pretty good too.
    April 28 07:13 PM
  • Shimana Hey man. Yeah there are several reasons for that, cheif among which is that I haven't had time to really be social here. But also, I haven't come across albums that you wouldn't have heard of that are worth recommending. It's probably downtime for album releases, or maybe music is just less distinctive. I'm waiting on that new Strawberry Girls.
    April 28 11:07 AM
  • Atari You haven't reviewed in several months and I didn't want to seem too nitpicky. They're just minor suggestions anyways haha. 'Twas a very nice review. I'll prolly be checking the album out too. As you prolly know I've been getting more into classical lately but there's still a ton I haven't heard
    April 26 05:08 PM
  • Atari Hey just a few small suggestions on your review. Second paragraph: rhapsody in blue is 'just simply'..I would just say simply because just simply is kind of redundant. And the last paragraph maybe remove the word probably as the opening word and just start the paragraph with 'my favorite'. It reads better and is more convincing that way ;) great write-up man.
    April 26 03:27 PM
  • Cygnatti sorry that was my score before my ratings wipe, i'm rating a bit more leniently recently tho so i'll jam it again soon and maybe change my mind! :]
    April 26 02:34 PM
  • Ecnalzen Yeah, I enjoyed his harsh vocals on the last one. Shame they were pretty sparse this time around. You ever heard Maylene and the Sons of Disaster?
    April 25 02:36 PM
  • Ecnalzen Aside from your rating, what did you think of the new Take One Car? I just got my copy a few days ago and am really enjoying it.
    April 16 06:56 PM
  • JohnnyOnTheSpot you bet your boots
    April 15 09:12 PM
  • Atari Gotcha, I changed it but might change again if I can actually think of something clever. I hate having to come up with summaries these days lol . By the way how's life outside of sput treating u? Aren't u on like the liquor board or something like that?
    April 15 10:05 AM
  • Atari U think I should change the summary? It doesn't really make sense with the context of the review lol
    April 15 12:17 AM
  • Atari yeah thanks again for recommending them! posted the review too
    April 14 12:38 PM
  • JohnnyOnTheSpot oh and Currensy's new album is reallll good
    April 14 08:30 AM
  • Atari posted a rough draft of a review for runaway brother in the proofreading thread if you have any suggestions. not my best review but i really want to get the band more exposure
    April 13 06:15 PM
  • JohnnyOnTheSpot sounds pretty rad. but yea i'm kinda excited for that l'orange and jaw piece based on the tracks streaming
    April 11 02:53 PM
  • JohnnyOnTheSpot upcoming l'orange and jeremiah jae collab
    April 11 08:53 AM
  • Atari i might if i can find the right thing to say but i've been busy to working overtime haha. would be nice to get them more exposure tho i feel like a lot of people on sput would dig them
    April 9 11:38 AM
  • chickasawcaleb hey sexii. remember me?
    April 8 03:14 PM
  • Atari Oh and if u write something up I'll try to get it featured too
    April 8 11:16 AM
  • Atari You sure you don't want to write a review for it? I've always enjoyed your writing man
    April 8 11:11 AM
  • Atari yeah that s*** rules. i've already jammed the album like 4 times and it just gets better every time i hear it
    April 7 08:18 PM
  • Atari i'll check them today man, thanks for the rec :]
    April 7 11:35 AM
  • BlueSwan Shark dad is perfect, I'm going crazy lol
    April 5 01:44 AM
    April 5 01:40 AM
  • StrangerofSorts might give it a look then, thanks for the shout! (:
    April 2 11:33 AM
  • StrangerofSorts Is that William Ryan Fritch's alias? Never heard the music - is there anything in particular I should check out?
    March 31 01:38 PM
  • Ecnalzen Doesn't sound familiar. This is cool, tho, thanks. He has a bit of a Buckley sound to his screams, and I really like his cleans. So, I have been trying to come back to ETID every so often to see if I changed my mind about them, and for whatever reason, New Junk Aesthetic has become appealing to me.
    March 7 06:34 AM
  • nicholasarthur Hey sorry I never got back to you about the All Human Demos. A while back they were on his bandcamp and floating around on Lastfm. As far as I know they're not on both. Hopefully he releases them at some point. Even in demo form they were pretty killer.
    March 5 04:24 PM
  • Ecnalzen Oh, also, Take One Car is releasing a new album on the 31st, if you haven't already heard about it. Here's a new song:
    March 5 12:24 AM
  • Ecnalzen Yeeessssss, I was hoping you'd like it. I was pleasantly surprised by them. They seem pretty obscure. All I could really find was that bandcamp page after I found them on here.
    March 5 12:21 AM
  • Ecnalzen So, I found this band traveling around on the similar artists page(s) from Ongoing Concept, and they have a similar southern metalcore vibe and do a pretty good job with it. Let me know what you think if you get a chance to check it out.
    March 4 07:25 PM
  • AtomicWaste Well, you know what I'll be reviewing! haha. I always worry that Jakub wants to play into too much chug djent, but his melodies are soooo good. The guest list is promising too!
    February 25 12:44 PM
  • Mad. Thanks bro will check. Glad I'm that prominent in your life x
    February 12 02:07 PM
  • Ecnalzen Have you heard the S/t EP by them? It's really good, too. They had a different vocalist, and I think he sounds better than Mullins does on Sleepwalking. It kind of sucks, tho; Mullins sounds better vocally on the newer stuff, but, like you said, they took a huge dip in quality musically after that first album.
    February 1 03:48 PM
  • Ecnalzen Ended up buying one of Lye By Mistake's albums. It'll go good with my Sts, AaL, and Exivious type of bands. Thanks for the rec! I finally figured out why you suggested Memphis May Fire when I asked you about more He Is Legend styled stuff. Their first EP and Sleepwalker are really fun albums. I haven't really cared for anything else I have heard from them after those two, tho.
    February 1 01:41 PM
  • ADanceReturns Hahaha no problem there is no way to tell who is banned and such , is there :o?
    January 28 05:31 PM
  • johnnydeking29 Wow dude, that was awesome!
    January 28 12:16 PM
  • ADanceReturns I was thinking "FML .." Lol
    January 28 03:19 AM
  • ADanceReturns Snide doesn't exist I'm dancedrewdance lol I got banned
    January 27 10:27 PM
  • ADanceReturns Thanks for the insult bb
    January 27 08:00 AM
  • ADanceReturns Hey I don't know if I told you this on my old account already but great hail the sun ep review man
    January 27 03:51 AM
  • Friday13th We need you for the last votes!
    January 15 04:28 PM
  • twlichty Did you listen to the new Solterra album? Curious what you think since you reviewed umbra
    January 5 12:14 AM
  • LordePots cool ill check it out, what made u decide to send it my way? also cheers for checking that hiatus ep!
    January 2 05:20 PM
  • JohnnyOnTheSpot yo man you might enjoy this Kate Carr album, more ambient/drone but some field recordings too
    January 1 04:07 PM
  • Friday13th Put down the nog and bring out the prog. Time is ticking and you have a day left to jam and vote!
    December 27 03:39 PM
  • Deviant. Yeah, the site's going through another malware attack. Jeremy's aware of it, he's looking into it now
    December 21 07:15 PM
  • Friday13th You have one day left to jam and vote, mr. progcrastinator.
    December 21 09:50 AM
  • Cygnatti lolol sounds lovely! considering the "similar bands" section, and the people who've rated it, it's very likely exactly what i think it is! :)
    December 20 06:33 PM
  • Cygnatti Lol I'm assuming casino wave is some kind of electronic-based easy listening bulls***? If so id probs dig. ^_^
    December 20 02:56 PM
  • Cygnatti link and his bitches, eh? :)
    December 18 01:35 PM
  • Relinquished good find with Kolchak, they sound a bit immature at the moment but I can see them getting real good soon.
    December 17 09:06 PM
  • JohnnyOnTheSpot you can tell when someone leaves a shout thend it? Damn, that's kinda embarrassing I guess. Sometimes I'm on my iphone and it's pretty easy to hit 'remove' without noticing until you look at the persons profile later and realize. Anyway I appreciate the input dude, and good luck with your training
    December 17 12:46 PM
  • Ecnalzen Damn, frost* was hard to find in the database. Apparently, Sput doesn't like asterisks. How is something like that supposed to be entered in? Listened to a song by both and they are def stuff I am interested in. I'll check them out some more. Thanks!
    December 9 02:04 PM
  • AtomicWaste Ok, that's kinda baller. Better than I thought it would be when I saw punk thrown around haha. I can dig this for sure.
    December 3 04:23 PM
  • Jade eh i have a collection brewing but ive been too broke lately to actually get a record player. when i have the funds for it ill surely have a solid collection tho! what about you man?
    December 2 01:28 PM
  • Dancedrewdance I've listened to a few tracks but only on a laptop so I haven't got the full effect yet lol
    December 1 06:43 PM
  • Dancedrewdance So excited to get my hands on that new stolas
    December 1 03:01 AM
  • Deviant. Yeah, it's alright. Apart from a few tracks I can never really deal with listening to him for any length of time though, it gets a bit much. Though his earlier stuff wasn't quite so obnoxious.
    November 20 12:42 AM
  • JohnnyOnTheSpot never really gave circa survive a fair chance. is blue sky noise the best place to start?
    November 19 09:38 PM
  • JohnnyOnTheSpot hey man. what are some upcoming albums worth keeping an eye out for?
    November 19 08:49 PM
  • Ecnalzen Whatchu talkin about? I've got plenty of good stuff from you, ha ha. I'm not sure if I can get into Miles Davis, tho. Everything I have heard from him just feels like one giant solo, and I've never been able to really get into that kind of thing.
    November 5 01:11 PM
  • Ecnalzen I'm not even through the first song on this Trioscapes album, and I think I already love it.
    November 3 04:33 PM
  • Ecnalzen Alright, cool. I'll give them a go. Thanks.
    November 3 03:53 PM
  • Ecnalzen That Thank You Scientist album is fantastic. You know any other good jazzy fusion-like stuff? Besides them, I have enjoyed album(s) from Exivious, Animals as Leaders, and Mahavishnu Orchestra.
    October 30 12:14 PM
  • JohnnyOnTheSpot aight dude, cheers
    October 13 07:20 AM
  • JohnnyOnTheSpot fair enough dude. I'm gonna try and make my reviews a bit less on the flowery side and lean a bit more towards Dev's style. I still like the personal approach, but I could be more informative for sure
    October 12 10:56 PM
  • JohnnyOnTheSpot who are your favourite reviewers on here?
    October 12 08:46 PM
  • JohnnyOnTheSpot looks cool, will do
    October 11 06:55 PM
  • JohnnyOnTheSpot that sucks man, I got lucky and had a fairly exciting time. any ideas what you wanna switch to, if you don't mind sharing?
    October 11 04:23 PM
  • JohnnyOnTheSpot you're still in? good on you man, I released about a year and a half ago for school/family reasons. I miss it a lot though. you ever serve alongside any canadians on tour?
    October 11 02:12 PM
  • Ecnalzen The weird thing is I feel like I should like them, ha ha. I hope he does something with The Damned Things again. I like Ironclast way more than I probably should have. I actually prefer his vocal style with them more than I do with ETID.
    September 30 11:31 PM
  • Ecnalzen I don't know what it is about Every Time I Die, but I just can't really get into them. It's not like I hate it, but I dunno... There's something about them that bothers me that I can't quite pinpoint.
    September 30 01:07 PM
  • Ecnalzen Oh, yeah, I loved Ironclast. I actually prefer it over Every Time I Die, but I listened to some of their most previous album and kinda dug it, so I have been thinking of trying them out again. Will try the other two, also. Thanks, guy.

  • Ecnalzen So, I was wondering if you knew of any other bands that pull off the southern hard rock/post hardcore feel that He Is Legend and Ongoing Concept do so well.
    September 29 09:59 PM
  • Insurrection nothing sounds exactly like that record unfortunately but i HIGHLY recommend checking out Burst if you havent already. origo and lazarus bird are phenomenal. and check fluxion and aeolian as well
    September 14 10:34 PM

    September 14 02:05 AM
  • Dancedrewdance That whole thread is disgusting ...
    September 13 11:32 PM
  • JohnnyOnTheSpot ah. I'm still confused what you meant with the sowingseason comment
    September 9 11:13 PM
  • JohnnyOnTheSpot not sure what you meant in your comment... care to elaborate? the Inner Stasis review was an approach I'm not used to, but are you saying it was pretty weak? any input welcome man, I'm always looking to improve
    September 9 08:44 PM
  • JohnnyOnTheSpot "It's a little... something" Huh? Should I do something different?
    September 2 03:19 AM
  • JohnnyOnTheSpot Do people actually request features?
    September 2 12:51 AM
  • atrink Plus I think it's weird if a contributor asks for a feature lol
    August 19 01:26 AM
  • atrink That's probably a good idea. At least one of them should be featured, and since yours has more discussion i'm voting yours lol. I just want more people to check it out.

  • Gameofmetal I was pretty stupefied. Thanks for turning me onto them.
    July 25 06:21 PM
  • Gameofmetal Wow you were right about Dionaea. I'm really digging them.
    July 25 03:05 PM
  • Shimana Not bad. they sound a lot like another band that I can't quite place a finger on
    July 23 09:51 PM
  • Shimana y'know what really grinds my gears? When a phxc band has a s***ty screamer. At least good screams can carry a band if clean vocals suck.
    July 23 12:09 AM
  • aok u da best. jus liettin ya knoe kthnxbai
    July 21 03:11 PM
  • OmairSh Oh, and Hugh Jackman. And wait you're married? O_O, nice. Good to see some older blood on here

  • OmairSh Dude you're a scrubs fan?
    July 18 05:02 AM
  • OmairSh Pffffft I know you're creeped out. It's okay though I stopped stalking you a couple weeks ago
    July 17 12:00 AM
  • OmairSh Yeah I should lower my standards so that I don't end up getting disappointed all the time. Well then, have fun with the little b*tch. It's a female right?
    July 16 05:27 PM
  • OmairSh I knew I could count on you to give a good response. Other people are just like WTF? How's life?

  • Atari no worries, don't feel obligated to i was just curious.
    July 7 12:49 PM
  • Atari So did u give agalloch a spin at all?
    July 6 12:58 PM
  • Atari Sweet. If u don't dig them it's all good man.
    July 1 10:54 PM
  • Atari also, that musk ox band that was on poohbear's list did all the acoustic interludes for agalloch's new album. So if you dig them the new agalloch could be a good place to start for you personally. The mantle has a lot of beautiful instrumentation too though
    July 1 08:00 PM
  • Atari that's cool man, congrats! and nah i wouldn't really compare them to finntroll lol. They mix several different genres which is why they're difficult to label. If I were you, I'd definitely give the mantle a shot as it's prolly their most accessible album. If you like it, you might dig the white as well and then pale folklore. (they're my current favorite band)
    July 1 07:49 PM
  • Atari forgive me if i've already asked you this before, but have you listened to agalloch?
    July 1 07:39 PM
  • Shimana Well you may already be familiar with them/I may have already told you about them but check out The Jonbenet, Animal Faces, Kidcrash, and Pollution People
    June 29 08:18 PM
  • Shimana Are you into mathy metalcore or posthxc
    June 29 05:23 PM
  • SPRFanOf5H Holistically? Sorry, i just don't know what you mean by that. Also, I do try to mention everything about the song aside from the sound like vocals and s***. I do appreciate the feedback again, my reviews seem to be following the same issues you talking about. I honestly don't know how to start correcting that.
    June 25 10:16 PM
  • SPRFanOf5H Thanks for the feedback man, I honestly don't know how to get over the history thing. It's been a massive struggle of mine I know, but I just don't know how to start off any other way! I thought I changed that in the first paragraph, and I am trying to not use basic words but expressive and detailed ones instead to describe the album. I definitely could use the help man.
