  • Flugmorph Last song is a total nightwish epic ripoff hahaha
    May 27 10:26 AM
  • Flugmorph feels more like Power metal with screamy vocals than mdm to me. But in the end many finish mdm bands are like that I guess. Thats why I could never really get into children of bodom, kalmah or norther.
    May 27 09:30 AM
  • Flugmorph It's to much dragonforce-like wankery in there to truly enjoy it atm.
    May 27 08:04 AM
  • Flugmorph Yo dawg. What do u think about the new whispered album? How does it compare to their last effort.
    May 26 01:22 PM
  • AnimalsAsSummit hell yes!!!! Album is too amazing, deserves every bit of attention it can get
    May 22 11:53 AM
  • manosg For what it's worth, I had a lot of second thoughts about my rating but I just went with how I felt ;)
    May 22 05:00 AM
  • manosg Oh man, I was about to write a soundoff in order to explain myself but I was so fed up after hearing the whole thing. Don't get me wrong, in terms of music the album is great but I just couldn't stand listening to grown men whining song after song after song. During the first 4-5 songs I enjoyed the album a lot but then it became just very linear, samey and whiny. I mean early Anathema was all about human pain and anguish... Universal felt like moaning and griping.
    May 22 04:59 AM
  • manosg For sure. And that lineup is dream. Listening to Andy LaRocque playing death metal is so awesome.
    May 19 07:52 AM
  • manosg Awesome! I was almost sure you'd enjoy it because of all the influences that Oceans of Slumber have incorporated to their music. I've been also jamming the new Vektor the last few days and it's seriously one of the best metal albums I've heard over the past years.
    May 7 07:31 AM
  • manosg Nice. Gonna give em a chance.
    April 28 03:07 PM
  • manosg For sure, repercussions might not be temporary but the way we feel about them might as well be ;) Played Skyrim too but didn't love it. Oblivion is on a whole another level though. I see you've rated Howls of Ebb. Never checked anything by them. Do you think their latest is a good starting point?
    April 28 02:26 PM
  • manosg Yeah, real life's hard some times. Whenever I'm down, I like to think that everything is temporary which might not say much when you're feeling down but it's true. Never played Dark Souls but I started playing Oblivion after many years and been really enjoying it. This year is solid in terms of new releases. New Rimfrost is some of the best Immortal worship I've listened and Ripper - Experiment of Existence is as good as modern death/thrash gets.
    April 28 02:00 PM
  • manosg They're a good choice for support given the music they play. You'll probably enjoy the album whenever you check it. How's everything?

    April 15 01:35 PM
  • manosg Yeah, I saw your rating and a couple of other guys' and thought to give it a chance. Great album, with a lot of variation and emotion.
    April 7 05:15 AM
  • RunOfTheMill Yeah, it's one of my favourites from her. So far, I think TInderbox and Juju are def their best albums, but they have so many worthwhile tracks on other albums and b-sides.
    April 4 02:49 PM
  • RunOfTheMill Hmmm I've been checking them out constantly for the past 3-4 weeks, they have a lot of great songs and albums. Ever listen to Dazzle?
    April 4 11:36 AM
  • DrGonzo1937 Yeah, agreed there. And cheers, we've always had the intention of having the art tell as much of the story as the song, so it's good to hear that it works. lol Like the wintery black metal albums, their artwork works so well with the songs.
    April 3 04:24 AM
  • DrGonzo1937 I didn't realise it painted a picture that strongly? haha
    April 3 03:51 AM
  • DrGonzo1937 Yeah, always found that EP a little weak imo. Cheers dude! Means a lot.
    April 3 03:50 AM
  • DrGonzo1937 You digging the Six Ugly EP a lot these days?
    April 3 03:36 AM
  • DrGonzo1937 haha nice one. How you doing?
    April 2 03:36 AM
  • DrGonzo1937 Exactly hahaha
    April 2 02:17 AM
  • DrGonzo1937 I didn't realise you liked the page? Haha
    April 1 04:27 PM
  • DrGonzo1937 My band's second ep dropped today if you wanna check it out dude? https://deepsands.bandcamp.com/album/endless-reflection
    April 1 10:16 AM
  • RunOfTheMill Hey out of curiosity, how much Siouxsie have you listened to?
    April 1 09:20 AM
  • Sinternet yeah it was pretty dope, kinda given me the enthusiasm to check out some Buck-Tick stuff considering I've always ignored them a little
    March 25 08:10 PM
  • manosg For sure haha. That Necrophobic album is awesome as well.
    March 22 02:56 AM
  • manosg To be honest, it felt like Anneke is wasting her potential singing this kind of music. She's like extra-constrained and that really bothers me. The album isn't bad per se but my thought was that any other female vocalist could be in her place and the result would be as good. So the rating is the sum of my enjoyment of the album and frustration at the same time haha.
    March 21 04:23 PM
  • Angelboros Uroboros is one of my all-time favorite albums, so I'll have to check Nippon Budokan at some point; speaking of NB, there's the one for Dum Spiro Spero which is on my checklist, and Arche's will be out eventually. As far as other lives go, Tabula Rasa and It Withers and Withers will be up my alley :)
    March 15 11:37 AM
  • Angelboros Damn, man, nice!
    March 14 10:26 AM
  • Aberf Dude, I'd cry an ocean If I were to see Dir En Grey live.
    March 11 05:32 PM
  • Aberf Exactly. It was one of the best camera work out there for a concert. And it's actually funny how the crowd is pretty much in tears when they see their favorite band. Japanese crowd best crowd.
    March 11 09:43 AM
  • Aberf it's actually insane. The crowd is amazing as well.
    March 11 09:25 AM
  • Spacesh1p Will definitely do that. Always on the look out for death/black recs.
    March 8 03:28 PM
  • Spacesh1p That's me agreeing with you, to be clear, haha
    March 8 03:20 PM
  • Spacesh1p Hey if I can jam Greek BM I can jam Japanese rock lol.
    March 8 03:20 PM
  • Spacesh1p A lot more doom and drone influences, yeah, for sure. I didn't think it was what could be called J-rock. Still a fantastic band of course.
    March 8 03:12 PM
  • Spacesh1p Awesome, thanks. I'll let you know how it all goes. Been digging a lot of Boris lately which is not J-Rock as I understand it (could be wrong, I am extremely inexperienced with the genre) but has primed the pump a bit for Japanese music more generally.
    March 8 03:02 PM
  • Spacesh1p Sup Evo, wanted to ask you for a good place to start with DeG. I jammed GAUZE once and it didn't really click for me but they look like a sweet band so I'd love to explore them more.
    March 8 02:22 PM
  • manosg Glad you enjoyed Ravensire, man. You're the only one who's checked it haha.
    March 7 03:09 AM
  • manosg Definitely, Evo. Anneke's still got it and I'm surprised by her singing on classic stuff tbh. Is a reunion and a new album with her on vox too much to ask?
    March 6 02:54 PM
  • Angelboros Correct rating for Babymetal ;)
    March 5 09:01 PM

    February 23 12:42 AM
  • manosg Gotta love those Haggard and Fleurety ratings ;)
    February 18 07:54 AM
  • TalonsOfFire Thanks dude m/
    February 12 04:31 PM
  • manosg haha yeah just saw you! Followed you back.
    February 12 03:42 PM
  • TalonsOfFire Cool, I was on there briefly today but no one I really knew was in there. I'll probably use it more now that I've discovered this replacement tho, since the original plug.dj site is gone.
    February 8 02:44 PM
  • TalonsOfFire I know right? My step-brother, who listens to all kinds of weird s*** played it for me in his car a few weeks back and I loved it, he showed me Ghost too last year.
    February 8 02:27 PM
  • RunOfTheMill Wooh thanks buddy!
    February 5 07:33 AM
  • OmairSh I'm just happy to have a Rikard solo album

    February 5 02:06 AM
  • RunOfTheMill Btw you seem to have a knack for gothic stuff, got any recs? My gf is really getting into it and admittedly a little has rubbed off on me
    February 4 08:19 PM
  • RunOfTheMill Had to be done man, couldn't bear the sight of that 4.3 :P
    February 4 08:12 PM
  • manosg Always a good thing. I've been jamming their whole discog lately as well. Not a bad album imo.
    February 3 03:13 PM
  • manosg ahaha! Two years late to the party but definitely a brilliant album. Great rating for At the Heart of Winter too. Have you checked Abbath's solo album by any chance?
    February 3 02:39 PM
  • Vorpax Yume Miru Uchuu tour is totally awesome, everything is perfect.
    January 31 05:34 PM
  • Angelboros Tour13 Ghoul and Dum Spiro Spero at Budokan are next on my long bucket list once I get back to something Diru-related ;)
    January 31 01:37 PM
  • Vorpax Yay \o/ and arui wa anarchy deserves a better rating, wtf is this 3.5? Really great album.
    January 21 04:11 PM
  • AnimalsAsSummit its wonderful man, its amazing how cohesive yet varied it is. one of the best jrock albums ive heard
    January 19 01:40 PM
  • DrGonzo1937 Damn, just checked that site and you're right, it's a gold mine.
    January 13 09:38 AM
  • DrGonzo1937 Cheers for the stream dude. ****ing good stuff.
    January 13 06:05 AM
  • DrGonzo1937 I haven't watched them ones yet. One or two are fan club exclusives I think so are near impossible to track down and buy ha have you got a link for it so I can watch?
    January 11 02:58 PM
  • crossparallel Awesome! Should totally do something like that some day.
    January 7 03:44 PM
  • crossparallel Well I have a sorta love/hate thing with John Zorn's compositions, often falling on the side of hate, so no surprise Mr. Patton will be affected too. They are a perfect match though XD And both undeniably talented. And now I remember Calc recommended me to listen to Electric Masada, should get right to it.
    January 7 03:38 PM
  • crossparallel When I listen to stuff like this, I'm not so sure: youtu.be/qPsXRiV6yo4 If you could do all that... why would you do all that? Though it may not be showing off. It may be abstract art XD Anyway, Mr. Bungle is fun indeed.
    January 7 03:28 PM
  • crossparallel When even you agree, I should get used I guess XD It's not just that he's versatile though, right? He uses all the variation in the songs in a way that makes a whole lot of sense to me, to convey a certain emotion, he's not showing off. *cough*mikepatton*cough* (though I like some of his music)
    January 7 03:19 PM
  • crossparallel You know, Kyo was the vocalist that made me say "wow, those metal growls can be a real art". And since I wasn't really into metal before that, now I have real trouble getting into anything else, because I'm comparing every vocalist to Kyo - and they are hella boring.
    January 7 03:08 PM
  • crossparallel I had a really weird feeling when I was listening to them - like this should be right up my alley, but why can't I follow it? The live naturally corrects this, and Kyo's live performance just blows the studio one out of the water. And given how Kyo-centric these albums are, it makes all the difference in the world.
    January 7 03:00 PM
  • crossparallel I should do something similar soon. I've only heard Uroboros, Arche and Gauze. Didn't really like Gauze, though I recognize it's super influential. The thing with sukekiyo is that the melodies are kinda meandering, they seem to form a web around Kyo's vocals, as the focus should be on him and the scenes he's painting. I just don't feel there's any kind of focus in the CDs though.
    January 7 02:59 PM
  • crossparallel Sorry man, incidentally removed your shout. I know this sounds unfair, but how do you rate songs that have *a lot* of potential - just not realized in the CD? Anyway, I'm not aiming for any kind of objectivity - the ratings are my way of saying "I'm really digging this, people, check it out!"
    January 7 02:34 PM
  • crossparallel Hahah, I'm not sure that makes it a good introductory song anyway, most people aren't ready for B-T's brilliance ^^ I've actually wondered about this a lot. Two of my (girl) friends fell head over heels for the CT performance of Taiyou ni Korosareta. The "(girl)" part may have something to do with this, don't know XD
    January 3 10:51 AM
  • crossparallel Asylum Garden, yes, a thousand times. It's weird that the one song I'd show anyone if I was asked to explain what B-T is about is a B-side ^^
    January 3 10:38 AM
  • crossparallel And now I'm thinking it's such a pity that Sputnik doesn't allow for singles to be added. No way to show my adoration for Gessekai, Miu and Kagerou. And what about the perfection that are Bran-New Lover's B-sides?
    January 3 10:31 AM
  • crossparallel Well thank you for provoking the completist in me. Now I've added At the Night Side, Tour2014 AwA and of course Climax Together ^^ That last one is legendary. But Diana is just a perfect show. I heard somewhere, no official source so I guess we'll never know for sure, that Sakurai was sick and had a fever when they recorded that - but still he went and sung and acted the hell out of it.
    January 3 10:29 AM
  • Vorpax j-rock fairy godmother *blush* Now let me check those snatches
    January 1 08:00 PM
  • crossparallel Hahah, yes. She's our j-rock fairy godmother.
    January 1 06:36 PM
  • crossparallel As far as I understand they should get renewed monthly for power users (I'll get there after I upload 2 more torrents). She's not a power user though... so, magic? XD Anyway, she's the one who invited me.
    January 1 06:28 PM
  • crossparallel Aw man, glad to see you registered! I had one invite left, but Vorpax is the one that pulls invites like a magician out of her sleeves. No idea how she does it XD
    January 1 06:20 PM
  • Vorpax forget it, I can see you in my invite tree
    January 1 05:39 PM
  • Vorpax Nope! Just make sure you follow the rules and keep up your ratio. What's your name there?
    January 1 05:39 PM
  • Vorpax Sent!
    January 1 05:33 PM
  • Vorpax Hi Evo, my fellow B-T fan and redditor! Give me your e-mail
    January 1 05:26 PM
  • crossparallel Nega to Poji, and maybe Cell later ^^
    January 1 03:06 PM
  • crossparallel Noisy be it! Think I'm in the mood. Thanks!
    January 1 02:54 PM
  • crossparallel Speaking of charming... I've been thinking I should listen to more Plastic Tree. Which album to give a go?
    January 1 02:47 PM
  • crossparallel It's not that I thought you wouldn't enjoy it, I was just very happy to see your rating, really felt like a surprise gift. *shrug* fangirl things XD
    January 1 02:30 PM
  • crossparallel Yay! You liked it! That's a surprise present if there is one. Happy New Year! With wishes for lots of great new music ahead.
    January 1 01:22 PM
  • Tunaboy45 Happy new year man! Hope you had a good nye and here's to a great 2016.
    January 1 08:16 AM
  • manosg Thanks Evo! Happy new year to you too! Yeah had a good albeit quiet new year's eve, just me and the girl. I really needed it after attending various dinners and stuff the previous days. How about you?
    January 1 06:34 AM
  • manosg Yeah had a really nice Christmas; lots of relatives, dinners and stuff. How about you, Evo? Regarding The Mortal, I checked the album in the previous week. Tbh, my first reaction was that it wasn't for me. But then I just got into it and felt like the album finished in zero time. It kinda has that special value to draw you in. Nevertheless, I need to keep listening. It felt a bit over dramatic at some points and the Japanese lyrics sound very exotic to me. Overall, very interesting though!
    December 27 07:38 AM
  • crossparallel And v-kei is another bubble, but at least it is different, that was such a mindblowing discovery to me. A friend of mine on the other hand is really into 80s kiwi rock, that's also amazing. And now I wonder how much great music there is out there I simply do not know.
    December 26 06:54 PM
  • crossparallel Yes, true. I tend to use that term super broadly, because using it to refer to a style makes no sense to me. What I really meant was that once you get out of the bubble of the most popular music, you just find yourself in a greater bubble ^^ Like the albums you see on music reiewing sites are the albums you see on "most mentioned on Tumblr" end-of-year lists are the albums you hear on mixtapes people make on the net. It's not that they are bad, but it's kinda depressing.
    December 26 06:45 PM
  • crossparallel Read: they would have 5 fans. The internet is our only hope for discovering such music, but what she said in the beginning about popular indie music like Grimes and co. is just so true. Makes me remember that rather than going by hype we should maintain networks of musical friends too. That's one reason I like this site for all my hate of the idea of ratings.
    December 26 05:42 PM
  • crossparallel Just read it, amazing, though I feel her pain about the fans. One could hope that more people would hear about The Mortal outside of die-hard fangirls, it's a pity.
    December 26 05:31 PM
  • crossparallel Ah, the torture route. I might 5 it again someday. Just not now. It's an important album, it taught me the beauty in goth and telling stories.
    December 26 04:34 PM
  • crossparallel I wonder what your preferred method might be? Anyway, this feels right to me. If it will cost me my life, so be it.
    December 26 04:20 PM
  • manosg haha yeah. The reviewer's summary is pretty spot on, I really got a St. Anger feeling while listening to the album. I'm actually trying to check the whole Bathory discog chronologically and the last couple of albums I've jammed are pretty bad.
    December 22 01:22 PM
  • crossparallel Always found this song a bit silly to be honest, but this really shows its epicness. Good job!
    December 21 02:01 PM
  • crossparallel Hahah, really? Keeping up the tradition to write songs for vampire and supernatural anime even outside of B-T XD
    December 21 01:34 PM
  • crossparallel I know! I'm kinda hoping that it sounds like it looks.
    December 21 01:18 PM
  • crossparallel instagram.com/schaft2016/ Scroll to the bottom, there's also the Sakurai poster XD
    December 21 12:59 PM
  • crossparallel Nah, not cool. Their second post on instagram was a creepy baby pedal(?) though, so I am hopeful.
    December 21 12:43 PM
  • crossparallel I know, right! And some of these look really funky too. Hahah, I wonder if Imai and Maki can match with that.
    December 21 12:37 PM
  • crossparallel And Niwlun ^^
    December 21 12:29 PM
  • crossparallel Some of the early tracks with Jake. I read how a lot of the later tracks turned out to be plagiarized before I had heard them and it really spoiled them for me. Damn that Asaki.
    December 21 12:25 PM
  • crossparallel Actually all of Merry is like... Dir en grey was an early influence. Probably also cali-gari. But think with more jazz, punk and blues added, and Nero is a killer drummer, and Gara has a really unique voice.
    December 21 12:11 PM
  • crossparallel Depends on what album you pick. They are all over the place stylistically... but that should be no surprise in j-rock. But let's tell you about my (current) faves. PEEP SHOW is like j-rock mixed with some chill lounge jazz/blues vibe, the atmosphere of that one is just delicious. Guess that's why it took me some more time to appreciate, the uniqueness of the different tracks kind of drowns in the sound. And under-world is... well, this: youtu.be/LCVhOhEWYiE.
    December 21 12:00 PM
  • crossparallel Hahah, that slippery slope, not going there again! Pretty happy hanging with you guys here and giving the occasional 5. While I'm at it, I should try to get you too into Merry XD Can't seem to stop rambling about them in the last week or so, it seems.
    December 21 11:47 AM
  • crossparallel I think there was a reason not to 5 that back at the time... not sure what it was now!
    December 21 11:41 AM
  • manosg Excellent, I'm intrigued!
    December 21 06:39 AM
  • manosg Thanks! Yeah, the damn thing is neither on Deezer nor on Spotify. I'm very intrigued by the album. And it has a track named Dead Can Dance which is always nice.
    December 21 06:13 AM
  • AnimalsAsSummit yea 13kai just is melodically/ conceptually perfect to me. this is wounderful by all accounts, but i can't say that i enjoy it as much nor does it emotionally effect me in the same way. im still glad sakurai decided to bring back the goth vibes tho, it's a brilliant album. it may grow on me more with time
    December 15 08:34 AM
  • AnimalsAsSummit i enjoyed the mortal debut a ton. probably a solid 4/5 for me after a few listens, moments bring me back to 13kai hard
    December 14 09:17 AM
  • manosg Glad you dig KD, Evo. Which one you prefer has to do with the mood one's in, I think. If you're in a more old school mood, Melissa is quite the jam. Otherwise, Abigail is incredible.
    December 4 02:12 PM
  • manosg Nice. Abi personally didn't catch my attention like Melissa at first but grew over the years. Probably his greatest solo achievement instrumentally and maybe story wise. Hope you enjoy dude.
    December 3 03:49 PM
  • manosg Yes!!! That rating makes my evil heart warm!
    December 3 03:19 PM
  • manosg Sweet. If you're OK with his vox, you'll love both acts.
    December 2 02:21 PM
  • manosg Not yet but I see a couple of dudes who love 666 International but don't dig it a lot. I've actually only checked 666 and Satanic Art that rules too. Hey, have you jammed Mercyful Fate's Melissa? I'm listening to it atm and is one of my all-time favorites.
    December 2 01:40 PM
  • manosg Glad you enjoyed, Evo. It was out of the ordinary in the time of its release definitely a very interesting album.
    December 2 01:15 PM
  • AnimalsAsSummit hell yea! such a cool album that is dancey yet really atmospheric and meticulous at the same time; not an easy task but these guys do it with ease. ive only jammed it twice so far and its gonna take some more listens to fully absorb everything going on in it
    November 30 10:47 AM
  • crossparallel Friend did an amazing job summing up the album's strengths without going into superlatives as I would undoubtedly have! Thanks for letting me know.
    November 30 07:18 AM
  • manosg Low is probably my favorite of his but I haven't checked Station to Station yet. The thing with Bowie is that, instrumentally, nothing feels really special. But I listened to The Man Who Sold the World yesterday and read the lyrics at the same time and it really helped. So this is probably what I need to do with Ziggy.
    November 29 01:19 PM
  • manosg Unfortunately no. I've jammed the album no more that 5-6 times the last few years but I always feel like I'm missing something. I love Five Years and Ziggy Stardust but the rest of the album doesn't do much for me. What am I missing dude?
    November 29 12:44 PM
  • crossparallel Thanks for a recommendation! I've been meaning to expand my listening towards more metal after seriously digging Diru's Arche this year, I never gave it the attention it deserves.
    November 27 06:33 PM
  • crossparallel What other album could compete? (Serious question, haven't been up to date with music recently.) That said, it had better be a 5-star review.
    November 27 06:04 PM
  • crossparallel Likewise. Let's get this album some recognition! I couldn't resist, freaking instant classic.
    November 26 08:49 PM
  • RadicalEd Too bad buddy. Another time ;). Currently there isn't much going on, so you're not missing out.
    November 17 02:49 PM
  • RadicalEd dubtrack?
    November 17 02:28 PM
  • manosg Hey Evo! Yeah, Into the Void is pretty cool. My three favorites are probably The Warning, Hole in the Sky and Electric Funeral. Overall, it's a good compilation but a few tracks are a bit muddy for my liking.
    November 16 01:18 PM
  • Thealwaysopenedmind Thanks for the insight. That's a good reason. It's a shame this happened.
    November 13 08:59 PM
  • manosg Listening to Arcane Rain Fell atm and I like it a long. Which is kinda weird for me considering that it's post mid '90s doom/death/gothic/whatever. Also, checked today Weeping Silence - Opus IV Oblivion and I was impressed. If you're up for some modern doom/gothic, it's pretty good.
    November 10 01:58 PM
  • Flugmorph Yeah I remembered something like that but didnt exactly knew what band we talked about hehehe
    November 10 11:31 AM
  • Flugmorph U wanna make a evo brand killing joke list? Would be amazing :)
    November 10 11:06 AM
  • manosg Instrumentally, it's very very solid. However, it's not easy for me to digest the Japanese vocals. Probably has to do with the fact that I haven't listened to any Japanese bands or watched movies. The thing is that, musically, they sound odd to my ears.
    November 10 04:17 AM
  • Flugmorph has the righteous beats hehe
    November 9 04:24 PM
  • Flugmorph check their discog asap its really varied and every album has its own distinctive feel and mood
    November 9 04:23 PM
  • Flugmorph selfless from godflesh is such a damn good album i would've never known
    November 9 04:17 PM
  • manosg Definitely dude.
    November 9 03:22 PM
  • Flugmorph Not really i listened here and there and pandemonium was my fav from these
    November 9 07:07 AM
  • Flugmorph nice dig bro killing joke i mean
    November 9 03:02 AM
  • Jasdevi087 goodness, that's an interesting rating for Cell.
    November 7 04:13 PM
  • manosg There's so much quality in the mid '90s. If you're up for some experimental black metal, there's a band called Fleurety. Their album, Min Tid Skal Komme is pretty interesting. The guitar reminds me of Mandylion at various points but the songs develop to black metal.
    November 7 03:13 PM
  • manosg Nice. I have the original CD release of Nighttime Birds and Mandylion on a copied cassette! Never decided buying Mandylion on CD when I was younger because I was so in love with how it sounded that I didn't want to change anything haha. And now, unfortunately, I don't buy CDs anymore because the closest store is more or less 20 km from where I live and I listen music mostly on my laptop. Where do you listen to music?
    November 6 03:17 PM
  • manosg haha on a good day Nighttime Birds is definitely a 5! Its only flaw is that it's not Mandylion. But both albums have that magic in them; the one that makes me bond with an album emotionally.
    November 6 02:27 PM
  • manosg One of my all time favorites. Bought the album on the same day as Nighttime Birds when I was younger and to this day I can't decide which one I like best haha.
    November 6 12:35 PM
  • manosg Yes! Glad you enjoyed bro. The album is as majestic just as its cover suggests.
    November 6 08:09 AM
  • manosg Oh definitely. A lot of metalheads who reject them haven't even checked them.
    October 31 04:36 PM
  • manosg They've positioned themselves in a way metalheads cannot accept. But they are what they are and they certainly have their moments.
    October 31 04:21 PM
  • manosg Nice, gonna give it a shot when I'm in a mood for some doom. Nice rating on Deep Shadows and Brilliant Highlights. My favorite HIM and probably the only one I enjoy anymore from these guys.
    October 31 03:28 PM
  • manosg I was oblivious regarding its existence tbh! Is it any good?
    October 31 08:26 AM
  • Willie I like it. My favorite was Brighter Than 1000 Suns, and they'll never go back to that, but this one seems like it has a little more of that era in there mixed with the newer heavier sound. Probably one of my top five KJ albums.
    October 26 05:47 PM
  • manosg First time I heard it, my thought was that if the end of the world has a soundtrack, that's it. I know guys who love it and others who can't stand it haha.
    October 26 04:31 PM
  • manosg That I can agree with. It can make a song feel more futuristic/cold or robotic as you've said. By the way, have you checked Dodheimsgard's 666 International? Pretty awesome black metal/industrial hybrid.
    October 26 04:21 PM
  • manosg Yeah, not bad at all. Pretty Sabbathian but I don't understand why so many band add effects and s*** to their vocals. Maybe they're trying to use them more like an instrument but for fuvk's sake, if you have a good vocalist just let him/her sing. For example, Windhand's singer has a pretty good voice as shown on her solo record but with her band her voice is buried upon layers and layers of s***.
    October 26 03:47 PM
  • manosg Yeah those touches can make a big difference sometimes. I'm down with epic doom as well such as Sorcerer, Veni Domine, Solitude Aeturnus, etc. Only doom I can't digest is funeral doom and that s*** with one riff played to eternity and the distorted vocals. Sludge you call it?
    October 26 03:24 PM
  • manosg Definitely. Dude sings like he has the whole world on his shoulders. In a way, this album reminded me of My Dying Bride even though I easily prefer the poetic nature of Aaron's lyrics.
    October 26 02:52 PM
  • OmairSh I'm not complaining :-P
    October 20 11:19 PM
  • manosg hmm, The Karelian Isthmus and Tuonela are probably my favorite 3.5s. Second tier, I'd put Silent Waters, Skyforger and Under the Red Cloud. Third tier would have to be The Beginning of Times and Eclipse. How about you?
    October 20 08:07 AM
  • manosg Niiice! It has some amazing crescendos and even though the male vox aren't the greatest, he's got soul. I see you've rated Killing Joke and I must admit I haven't heard more than a couple of songs by them. Which album of theirs do you suggest I check?
    October 17 06:37 AM
  • OmairSh Soooooooo this is happening https://www.facebook.com/Evergrey/photos/a.141135285938028.32755.133190223399201/1043385912379623/?type=3
    October 17 01:38 AM
  • CamiloG Yeah. I think The artwork affected the expectations I created towards this record before hearing it. Though it is very enjoyable. It took me a while to get into it.
    October 15 02:52 PM
  • CamiloG Gave it a new spin and it grew a little bit in me. I finally made up my mind.
    October 15 02:30 PM
  • CamiloG Well, I find it kind of mainstream, and the music feels happy, if you know what I mean, cheesy at moments, it has great moments such as Breathe, Extinct, Funeral Bloom, but it doesn't grab me that much. I think my main issue is with the atmosphere.
    October 15 02:15 PM
  • CamiloG Dude, I'm not digging that much the new Moonspell album, I haven't been able to rate it.
    October 15 02:09 PM
  • CamiloG I've heard some nice comments about MDB, I also have to check them out, and yeah paradise lost is gonna take a while. I did the same with Katatonia and it took me almost two weeks hahaha.
    October 14 03:54 PM
  • CamiloG You got me some serious work to do hahaha.
    October 14 03:51 PM
  • CamiloG Infinite thanks again, now I have a nice list to check. From the last one I've only heard The Cure's Disintegration and Lake of Tears. I think I'll begin rating Paradise Lost after I end with Moonspell.
    October 14 03:48 PM
  • CamiloG I'm into everything that's good, no matter the genre. Recently I've been digging some metal, since it was a long time without listening. I was more on a Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin vibe. But I do like all kinds of music to be honest.
    October 14 03:33 PM
  • CamiloG Thanks a lot man. I haven't heard some of the bands you listed, I'll surely check them. Paradise Lost and early Theatre of Tragedy are awesome though. I've also heard some Type O Negative, but never gave them the attention they deserved. Anyway, I appreciate your recommendations.
    October 14 03:26 PM
  • Angelboros I'm evil. By that logic, it had to be done, or else I'd be sleeping with the fishes.
    October 5 01:04 PM
  • OmairSh Glad you enjoyed them man. Just felt like sharing some local stuff as a change of pace.
    October 1 10:53 PM
  • Jasdevi087 Well I do still need to check out Turn Loose the Swans and all that
    October 1 02:16 AM
  • Jasdevi087 Yeah :/ I mean, it's fine, I like it but I didn't really get much out of it.
    October 1 01:35 AM
  • OmairSh Evo I think you'll enjoy the first 2 tracks off this http://www.sputnikmusic.com/list.php?memberid=673174
    September 30 11:37 PM
  • manosg Indeed. Their vocalist had serious drinking issues so that might have been a reason. But the dude could really sing. Seeing as you're into progressive metal, you'll enjoy both bands.
    September 29 01:32 PM
  • manosg Nice! It's got that american power metal sound and few progressive elements so you'll probably dig it. It's kinda similar to Crimson Glory, if you've checked them.
    September 29 01:22 PM
  • manosg haha yeah! My plan is to initially go through some older albums of theirs that I haven't listened for a long time. So now I first need to check The Beginning of Times and then jam Under the Red Cloud. But after our morning discussion today, I've been jamming some older Blind Guardian and Gamma Ray. So I'm in a power metal mood today haha!
    September 29 01:08 PM
  • IhateMana Moi Dix Mois is a conspiracy. Dix has three letters. Dix looks like dicks, Mana likes dicks.
    September 28 07:14 AM
  • Jasdevi087 Yeah, yeah. RIP
    September 28 02:59 AM
  • manosg Maybe yeah. Didn't feel as grand and epic as some of their older releases.
    September 27 04:24 PM
  • manosg Yeah but one of my browser's extensions kept blocking it. I downloaded it from Kickass Torrents though. Can't put my finger on it just yet but there's something about the album that bothers me. On my final listen, I was between a 3 and a 3.5!
    September 27 04:17 PM
  • manosg Damn, if I want to raise my objectivity I'll give it a spin.
    September 27 04:07 PM
  • manosg lol how bad is this ep? hahaha
    September 27 03:49 PM
  • manosg haha just found it on Deezer's new releases section and thought I'll give it a try even though I knew nothing of the band. Pretty disjointed and boring.
    September 27 02:34 AM
  • manosg I have no idea tbh haha. I think Deezer works similarly to Spotify, judging by the fact that their contents are almost identical.
    September 26 11:37 AM
  • manosg Has to be the initial leak plus the one that's streaming on Deezer.
    September 26 11:15 AM
  • manosg I've listened to it 3-4 times but I'm still torn between a 3.5 and a 4. I don't like it as much as A Map of All Our Failures or The Dreadful Hours and I have both of these at 4. Maybe a 3.5 is where it's at for me but I'll decide on my next listen.
    September 26 11:00 AM
  • manosg Brings the early Bride vibes hard. Sweet rating for Night of the Stormrider too!
    September 26 10:45 AM
  • manosg Yup. Unless one managed to live in a quiet village far from all the intrigues haha.
    September 23 03:07 PM
  • manosg For sure, even though I've kinda lost touch with modern films. Watched the first two seasons of GoT but stopped there. Can't say that it's poor or anything but I lost the will to further watch it I guess haha.
    September 23 02:31 PM
  • manosg Oh definitely. For me, the switch was a few years ago when I got bored of mainstream modern films with all the special fx, unnecessary violence and nudity. So I tried a couple of '40s movies and got hooked since them. The actors' playing is so much better on older films.
    September 23 02:23 PM
  • manosg Yeah I used not to like older movies as well. To be honest, I completely rejected black and white films solely for not being in color. But nowadays some of my favorite movies are from the '40s haha.
    September 23 02:16 PM
  • manosg Very good lyrics indeed. The movie, The Masque of the Red Death, is pretty good too. Stars Vincent Price and definitely has that gothic feeling.
    September 23 02:05 PM
  • manosg Actually, no haha. Which is pretty weird because I've been listening to the album since it was released. The reason is probably because every time I listen to the album my mind travels in imaginary places and scenes that come from the movie which the dialogues were taken on And When He Falleth.
    September 23 01:53 PM
  • manosg So you must be quite the fluent speaker! I almost followed the same path with English. Started in kindergarten and my college education was in English so that helped a lot. If I remember correctly you're British, right?
    September 23 01:41 PM
  • manosg That's cool. Tried to learn German a couple of times but didn't have the necessary perseverance.
