  • Archael omg, i swear i posted something on here. well i wanted to completely readjust my ratingz but didn't want to have to do it manually so i just switched to an old account and went from there... x_x

  • bnelso55 This is great! Man, what a year for neofolk. So much good stuff in 2015. Thanks for referring me to this!
    November 19 01:57 PM
  • bnelso55 Awesome! Thanks! I'll check them out today. It's a neofolk sort of day. I assume they have a bandcamp or something similar?
    November 19 12:59 PM
  • Evreaia oh? theirs a new Nhor out? I didn't even knew that haha. I do know their is a new Nest (but I have yet to give it a spin, it has a daunting playtime).
    November 17 01:17 PM
  • Evreaia Sangre sadly did little too me, a pity because I liked their earlier stuff. Still hoping for something of the caliber of Vali/Musk Ox this year though.
    November 17 12:42 PM
  • Evreaia After checking out the (very few) Neofolk albums this year has offerred, only Ulvesang is the only thing I'd personally rate higher than a 3,5. It was not a good year for the genre. :(
    November 17 10:00 AM
  • Evreaia Hey my friend, check out "Evergreen refuge - earthborn" and in particular "Ulvesang - Ulvesang"!
    November 13 11:51 AM
  • CamiloG Hey man, I followed your suggestion and checked Sibelius' concerto and I have to say it was completely great, wonderful 35 minutes of sheer emotion. Thanks for the rec!
    November 13 09:58 AM
  • DaveyBoy Most of my message cut off. Was gonna say that the other 3 songs were nothing more than good. They seem really young, possibly under 18. Lots of potential though. Im not a huge fan of the vocalist, but solid musically and above average lyrics. Gonna pass on the whole LP due to time of year. We have 3 weeks left to year end voting and I still have about 20 LPs to get through. Argh!
    November 8 01:25 AM
  • DaveyBoy That Valentine song is rather touching. Liked it a lot, but the other 3 songs I heard were good
    November 8 01:22 AM
  • DaveyBoy No probs. A 3 for most people is a 3.7 for me. LOL.
    November 6 03:35 AM
  • DaveyBoy Will check out 3-4 songs. If they pass the Davey test, I will give the whole LP a listen. Ta for the reco. Unsure it's been a great year for pop-punk really. I think I have no true pop-punk LP rated a 4 or above. My 2 best thus far may be Knuckle Puck and Broadside!
    November 5 05:20 AM
  • Archael I honestly have no clue man, I kinda technically quit Facebook now too so I couldn't tell ya.
    November 3 01:00 AM
  • manosg Sweet! Just added it to my list and I'll definitely give it a listen soon enough.
    November 2 03:09 PM
  • Jethro42 1969, really! It's quite ahead for its time! In effect, I dig this. Great acoustic folk that sometimes flirts both with jazz rhythm, rock, blues, or even psych, all layered with great melodies/arrangements. We can see where Loreena McKennitt is coming from ;) Btw, the female singer sounds pretty much like Annie Haslam (Are you familiar with Renaissance? If not, try it). I think I'm gonna give a try to Fairport Convention, while I'm at it. Thanks for the rec!
    October 30 06:54 PM
  • Jethro42 Recs would be welcome, don't get me wrong, but let's concentrate to your 4's or 5's. You could also go and give me some straight folk music a la Bob Dylan, but not too focused to lyrics since I'm a french speaker (I always focus towards good musicianship before the lyrics). I thank you in advance.
    October 30 04:09 PM
  • Jethro42 I couldn't refuse any suggestions, but on the other hand, I don't think I'll become an adept of the genre. I'm listening to Musk Ox (Woodfall) atm, and it's hard for me to know exactly how I feel about it. While there are some rare exciting passages, I feel it's too repetitive and not enough moving. Maybe it would take some more spins (not necessarily willing for that), or the style doesn't suit me.If you know some more ''moving'' neofolk or something similar to Agalloch, go ahead ;) Thanks!
    October 28 06:23 PM
  • Jethro42 Yeah, thanks for showing me these guys. Music is a blend of cold and warmth like only Agalloch (out of what I'm familiar with) can do well.
    October 28 01:22 PM
  • bnelso55 Thanks for the recs! I actually have a Novemthree 7" at home somewhere. "From These Ashes" I'm pretty sure it's called. I like it, but I haven't really heard anything else in their discography. I'll start with your suggestions. Thanks again.
    October 28 09:42 AM
  • JohnnyOnTheSpot no prob. it's kinda hard to rec similar artists because a)free folk tends to be a bit all over the place, and b)i don't know much about polish avant folk-y stuff, so i don't have much to pull from. but yeah dude, happy listening. as far as specific albums, i guess just go on RYM and pick whatever's highest rated lol. Big Blood and Natural Snow Buildings both have pretty huge discogs
    October 27 07:09 PM
  • JohnnyOnTheSpot and you might wanna check Big Blood.
    October 27 07:02 PM
  • JohnnyOnTheSpot some of snox's music is actually in a similar vein (Lost Salt Blood Purges). you should also give some of Natural Snow Buildings' stuff a try (not from this year though lol, they kinda disappointed).
    October 27 06:54 PM
  • JohnnyOnTheSpot also, this Helde album is great
    October 24 03:13 PM
  • JohnnyOnTheSpot it was definitely a headphones album for me, if that makes sense
    October 24 03:12 PM
  • JohnnyOnTheSpot : ] thankkkkssss man
    October 24 01:19 PM
  • MistaCrave They rule pretty hard. They're no Spectral Lore IMO, but they're awsome either may.
    October 22 10:48 PM
  • ASnideReturns Everyone seems to be falling out of Metalcore these days.
    October 22 08:17 PM
  • MistaCrave I haven't, I've unfortunately been having some computer problems lately. I just finished fixing up my PC, so I'll check them tonight. m/
    October 22 07:48 PM
  • TalonsOfFire Nah, I only had about a paragraph down and most of it was unusable and cliched. I got the new Abigail Williams to cover anyway, I was stressed with having to do both so I'm relieved you came along and did it. Poor Essence didn't get any spotlight though lol I think you both thought you'd be the only ones, but Crysis said he might review it when he listens more.
    October 22 12:38 PM
  • ASnideReturns Check my new track man -
    October 22 08:47 AM
  • TheSupernatural Yeah, I'm not surprised they took off the list given the title. The music's back up on Spotify now at least, but I can't believe they're actually suing Streetlight. Should be the other way around
    October 21 09:20 PM
  • JohnnyOnTheSpot yeah feels good to come out of hiding with a solid writeup
    October 21 07:31 PM
  • bnelso55 OK. Are you sure then? I can think of other titles I could review, so I could change gears if you wanted to take the Sangre de Muerdago record. I know you've been digging that one for a while and I wouldn't want to steal it from you.
    October 21 12:19 PM
  • bnelso55 Thank you! OK. I'll try to at least start something and try to finish up before the weekend.
    October 21 12:03 PM
  • bnelso55 Thank you for considering me! I was hoping to review it, but I'm not sure when I'll get the chance. I've got a few notes, but nothing concrete. If you beat me to it I wouldn't be offended. Have you started writing?
    October 20 10:26 PM
  • MistaCrave Thanks dude, I'll check them out ASAP!
    October 20 07:30 PM
  • JohnnyOnTheSpot just busy IRL?
    October 20 04:25 PM
  • JohnnyOnTheSpot thx man. u gonna go for it?
    October 20 03:58 PM
  • JohnnyOnTheSpot yeah i've tried to keep that momentum haha. and yeah might as well. i like getting exposure for music i like, and getting staff definitely doesn't hurt. plus there's perks here and there, and pretty minimal responsibility honestly. i think my chances are decent, so i'll give it a whirl. cheers, dude.
    October 20 03:45 PM
  • Evreaia I'll check it out right away, sorry for the late response btw.
    October 18 09:29 AM
  • zaruyache ya i know I JUST posted a news article about it :3
    October 16 09:30 AM
  • DarkNoctus i've had a lot of abuse in the past, people downrating my music for nothing, insulting me, even going onto rateyourmusic to downrate my stuff there... i've just had enough. i've been commenting less on the site as it is, only been using it to find stuff but now i might just slow down my activity completely. i really appreciate what you said, though, it's great that i was able to show people music they like!
    October 15 09:35 PM
  • DarkNoctus thank you! i really hope you enjoy revisiting it! i put a lot of hard work in it. tbh, i doubt i'll be reviewing here again simply due to the negative attitude people have had towards me lately, regardless of the negs.
    October 15 07:31 PM
  • DarkNoctus i really appreciate what you said, thank you
    October 15 07:11 PM
  • manosg Oh I know what you mean. The challenge is to initially fit exercise in your schedule and the follow through. I'm struggling myself with that, not gonna lie.
    October 15 02:23 AM
  • TalonsOfFire I actually haven't, most of the neofolk I've jammed is from all over the place so I'm not surprised I've missed essentials. I'm checking Tenhi's debut now and it's very interesting and different for sure.
    October 15 12:34 AM
  • Cygnatti Pooh yea buddy. But it honestly doesn't even feel like it. So damn captivating. ^__^
    October 14 07:12 PM
  • Cygnatti Natural snow buildings - the dance of the sun and moon (full album)
    October 14 05:07 PM
  • manosg Nice! I've only met one Norwegian and the dude was smart but very weird at the same time. You're much more grounded. Same here man. Working, trying to exercise and minding my own business haha.
    October 14 03:08 PM
  • manosg Hey bud, what is up? I know you're always up for some good black metal, especially this time of the year. I'm not sure if you're gonna like it but it's definitely interesting and mind provoking and it was released in the mid '90s by Norwegians which is always a plus. Anyway, here it is.
    October 14 02:14 PM
  • Judio! Oh man, the Oregon Coast sounds like a wonderful place to vacation. I've been good dude, busy with school and work everyday basically but I'm still finding plenty of time for leisure. I'm actually in Disneyland today lol. And awesome man, when you check it out let me know what you think I really value your opinion.
    October 13 09:27 PM
  • Mongi123 I haven't tried their new one haha I've heard bad things but they're a stellar band for sure!
    October 13 07:57 PM
  • Mongi123 Yea this is stellar so far. Haven't disliked anything by this band yet.
    October 13 07:17 PM
  • Mongi123 I actually just started listening now haha
    October 13 07:06 PM
  • Mongi123 I haven't actually I do have to jam it
    October 13 05:10 PM
  • Crysis i honestly haven't heard it yet. so far behind on music this year. i'll be sure to check it out and maybe review it if i like it
    October 12 05:28 PM
  • wham49 thanks dude, couldn't find it, this will help
    October 12 03:53 PM
  • Judio! Sweet thanks for the rec, I'll definitely give it a listen. How've you been man?
    October 10 03:54 PM
  • wham49 hey dude, what am I missing, why can't I get a forum profile
    October 10 03:14 PM
  • bnelso55 Really liked "The Light that Dwells..". It's sort of a crisscross between Agalloch's sound and a more depressive style, like Austere or something. I'll check the rest of the Falls of Rauros discog. Thanks for the rec! I do think we share a similar taste when it comes to those genres, which is cool. I often don't seem to find much common ground with others when it comes to music.
    October 8 03:10 PM
  • bnelso55 I hear you. This time of year is perfect for it, and Tenhi really is the pinnacle of the genre for me. I've heard some good bands, but not one of them tops those guys. Fall of Rauros is a familiar name. Where should I start? Also, I remember reading your soundoff for Windfaerer. Still need to check that album out. Today may be the day.
    October 8 01:12 PM
  • bnelso55 Glad to hear that you think so! I like that album quite a bit. It hit me pretty hard when I first heard it and I can see staying in my collection of regular listening for a long time to come. I worked my way through a couple albums on that last list you posted and I jammed Strawbs like crazy yesterday. Anything else you've been digging lately?
    October 8 09:36 AM
  • bnelso55 Please do! I hope those other recs are decent. Of the three, Solitude's Call may be the best followed Alvaro Barcala.
    October 6 02:18 PM
  • bnelso55 Yeah! That split was solid. That's actually what originally put Sangre de Muerdago on my radar. Definitely a good one that I need to listen to again.
    October 6 02:13 PM
  • bnelso55 I think Solitude?s Call is worth a listen. When he manages to hold on to the atmosphere he?s going for, it?s good - Ek uses field recordings and it can get annoying in places, but I still found some music to enjoy here- Alvaro Barcala is more piano-based and maybe a little more neo-classical than neofolk, but I thought his latest was decent -
    October 6 02:11 PM
  • bnelso55 Oops, I forgot about the latest Sangre De Muerdago! ( Forgot about how much I enjoyed that. Also, the latest Imbaru should be enjoyable. That's coming up at the end of the month. (
    October 6 01:55 PM
  • bnelso55 That's a good question! Unless I've missed something, it's really been a weak year for neofolk. However, I'm excited about the upcoming Nhor release ( That should have at least some solid material on it. Aside from the latest Nest album, The Twa Corbies album released in April ( is probably the only other 2015 neofolk album I've been revisiting.
    October 6 12:53 PM
  • Aids thanks pal but I quit reviewing, wasn't getting anything from it except circlejerks on this site hehe. I do very much miss writing however, and sputnik was a neat outlet for a while. (I gather you post in lots of people's shoutboxes, so FYI this is me responding to something you said months ago that I'm just seeing now)
    October 5 01:57 AM
  • AaronIsCrunchy Awesome, well that's encouraging :] Haha, yeah but you DID review Downfall of Nur so that's like 3 reviews
    October 4 12:08 PM
  • bnelso55 Awesome! Im glad it made to you! Enjoy! Are you satsfied with its condition? I do try to take care of my records.
    October 4 11:05 AM
  • AaronIsCrunchy Haha, we can make that 6 today as I churned out another one ;] But really, that's an OK rate? I might go for it then, thanks for the heads up!
    October 4 10:47 AM
  • loveisamixtape dude no it's perfect, i only want tru feedback. you killed it! thank you again. our new ep is, in my opinion, a lot better and it'll be out in a couple of months. can't wait for you to hear it!!
    October 2 07:58 PM
  • loveisamixtape definitely not just emo, hahah. instrumentally i sought a lot of influence from bands like misery signals, radiohead, minus the bear, the fall of troy, norma jean, deftones, etc. i just didn't know what to talk about vocally and it turned into emo but i was also 19 when all of that was written. not making excuses or trying to disown it at all bc i am very proud of it. but just so you have some insight
    October 2 04:04 PM
  • loveisamixtape everything but the drums is me. i didn't do any of the mixing but i did write all of it
    October 2 02:56 PM
  • loveisamixtape we're actually demo-ing a new album right now that i think is waaay better but i have always wanted a review for the first one so i'm excited to see what you think
    October 2 01:38 PM
  • loveisamixtape dude it would seriously make my life, haha. even if it's a 1. thank you so much
    October 1 09:04 PM
  • bnelso55 Hello! Boxed up the record last night and I should be able to make it to the post office today. Hopefully the package will make it to you early next week.
    October 1 11:15 AM
  • ExplosiveOranges POSTED FEEDBACK
    September 30 06:56 PM
  • ExplosiveOranges i was actually gonna ask you to check that review in the proofing thread since it had been just sitting there for two days, but thankfully arcade got on it.
    September 30 06:28 PM
  • ExplosiveOranges sorry i didn't get a chance to give you feedback on your review. i was planning to, but the power went out and i wasn't able to use my computer until this morning.
    September 30 06:20 PM
  • ExplosiveOranges bruh
    September 30 06:03 PM
  • bnelso55 I'll keep that in mind. I hope to make out there again someday. When I do, I'll remember to check out the border.
    September 30 04:49 PM
  • bnelso55 Do you like where you live? I suppose I've always idealized the Northwest and hoped to live out that way someday. The places I've been there are beautiful.
    September 30 04:31 PM
  • bnelso55 Thanks. I didn't see it. Maybe I'm not allowed to view the page or something. I don't know. Anyway, I'll protect the record as best as I can and get it on its way to you hopefully by tomorrow. I don't think I can make it to the post before it closes today.
    September 30 04:27 PM
  • bnelso55 That was fast! Thank you! I'll get the record sent your way as soon as possible. Did you attach a mailing address to a comment box or is it somewhere else?
    September 30 04:20 PM
  • bnelso55 Yeah. It's a pretty simple system I think. is my email. Can you see a comment section or some way for you to convey the mailing address?
    September 30 04:02 PM
  • bnelso55 OK. Sounds good to me. Did you have another suggestion? I'm open to other methods. That's just the first that came to mind.
    September 30 03:33 PM
  • bnelso55 Currently, I'm living near Kansas City, Missouri. How do you feel about Paypal? I've used it a few times and it seems like a pretty secure way to exchange more sensitive information (mailing addresses, etc.). I'll pick up some packing materials on the way home and get the record shipped out as soon as possible.
    September 30 03:21 PM
  • Evreaia Thanks for mentioning ! I've been out of the loop for a while, will surely check it out quickly.
    September 30 02:10 PM
  • bnelso55 Nice! I think it would be mine too. I didn't think too many others would put it ahead of Faustian Echoes. That's cool. Nothing tops the White though! I gave the record a once over. I do think it's in near mint condition and plays clwan. Light light dings on a couple corners of the sleeve, consistent with shelf wear, but no ring wear. poster is included and unused. I've tried to think of a way to get a picture to you.
    September 29 09:04 PM
  • bnelso55 Sounds good! I'll get back with you later on. And thanks for your consideration. I know this whole thing is a little out of the blue.
    September 29 05:17 PM
  • bnelso55 OK. I'm not looking to gouge you and I'll double check the record's quality when I get home. If you're good with helping with shipping and maybe a little extra to soothe the pain of separation, I'm good. You're in the U.S., right? How about 20 USD?
    September 29 05:08 PM
  • bnelso55 I don't recall exactly. I ordered it from Eisenwald back when they re-released it. That was 4-5 years ago, maybe? It couldn't have been more than $30-$35 after shipping and everything. I think I would remember paying more.
    September 29 04:18 PM
  • bnelso55 Thank you. I'm offering because I'm having to downsize a little, which means less room for storage and more shared space with the Mrs., who has little tolerance for metal. It's in the collection, but it's not getting much appreciation, you know?
    September 29 03:53 PM
  • bnelso55 Cool! It's in good shape. I've only played it a handful of times because I ended up putting it up for display in a protective frame. It should have an unused poster of the artwork with it too. I'll double check when I get home.
    September 29 03:36 PM
  • bnelso55 It was a while ago, but I recall your expressing interest in acquiring Agalloch LPs. Would you have any interest in a picture disc, vinyl edition of Agalloch?s ?From Which of This Oak? EP?
    September 29 03:23 PM
  • doctorjimmy will get down to the papas review one of these days definitely ;)
    August 22 03:19 PM
  • doctorjimmy @Atari that sounds perfect! i haven't got around to listening to the albums by that band, so it's a good opportunity ;) tomorrow i'm uploading Arthur by the Kinks, if you're interested :)
    August 21 07:52 PM
  • JWT155 What did you think of Exile on Main St?
    August 12 11:35 AM
  • Cygnatti shoot sorry for responding late, but idk if they're adding characters SOON, however, the creator said that he wants as much DLC characters as possible. so there's potential for almost infinite new characters x.x
    August 10 03:24 PM
  • Cygnatti oh yes, still smashin' like nobodys business. :]
    August 7 04:41 PM
  • Cygnatti decently. no current issues except that i won't be able to go to school in the fall which is a bummer, but honestly i haven't even figured out what i wanna do just yet either so it's probs for the best. :/ still lookin to get a new place, we'll hopefully be able to have that over and done with by 2 weeks, maybe less.
    August 7 04:18 PM
  • bnelso55 Also, good advice. I'll certainly keep that in mind.
    August 6 12:57 PM
  • bnelso55 I hear you. That one is definitely 5 worthy in my book."..sometimes it helps to try reviewing a different genre or something out of your comfort zone as well."I do try to be accepting of criticisms and this^ is good advice. I'll look into trying it. Thanks.
    August 6 12:36 PM
  • bnelso55 Thanks for the kind words. I'm trying to nail down an effective style. Hopefully I'm on the right track. It's nice to know there others out there that appreciate Tenhi. By the way, I just read your review for The White ep. I think that is my favorite Agalloch record and your descriptions expertly captured the essence of the music.
    August 6 12:20 PM
  • bnelso55 Thanks for taking the time to read and comment on my reviews as well as consider the music. I appreciate it and I try to return the favor as often I can. You're a tad more prolific than I am though when it comes to reviews. It's tough to keep up!
    August 5 10:14 PM
  • Rowan5215 Sleepyhead might be my favourite Skiba song tbh. you're scratchiiin AND ITCHIIIIIIIIING
    July 27 10:14 PM
  • Rowan5215 you figured right :-) the song "Emma" on Good Mourning was written by Matt but given to Dan to sing, I guess they just unanimously agreed that Dan's voice would fit it better. Apart from that, I don't know of any other instances where they haven't sung a song that they wrote themselves. The only exceptions to that are the occasional co-lead (eg Back to Hell from Crimson, Old School Reasons is a b-side) and the songs that their drummer writes which are usually then given lyrics by Matt or Dan
    July 24 01:26 PM
  • manosg glad you enjoyed hard my man!
    July 24 11:42 AM
  • manosg Hell yeah! I'm very happy you enjoyed Donovan, man. His blend of folk with psych is special. His lyrics are also pretty good, in a trippy way ofc haha.
    July 24 02:42 AM
  • manosg Nice, dude. I'm confident you'll enjoy both.
    July 23 03:04 PM
  • manosg haha so much good stuff that rarely gets bumped on Sput. Knowing that you're into quality folk, I think you'd dig The Pentangle - Basket of Light and Donovan - Sunshine Superman. For some reason, I've associated both (especially the latter) with summer and are criminally overlooked on here.
    July 23 02:18 PM
  • manosg Will definitely do! I'm still undecided whether Lola vs. Powerman is a 4 or a 4.5 for me but man I wasn't expecting to dig a Kinks album that much.
    July 23 02:03 PM
  • Rowan5215 Yeah I'm planning on it. Really enjoy Pretty Teeth, My Human Being, Haunt Your House and Plain Old Whiskey.
    July 22 06:32 PM
  • Rowan5215 Dan's one of my all-time favourite songwriters and Hurricane Season is like top 10 albums bro
    July 21 10:55 PM
  • hogan900 Doesn't really touch Renacer though, thing kicked ass.
    July 13 01:34 PM
  • manosg haha thanks for the support man!
    July 11 03:33 AM
  • manosg People are getting really fed up with this s*** and this is the second straight week that the banks are closed because if they were open, citizens would withdraw all their money. So we're left with withdrawing only $50/day via atm's because there have been capital controls for the last 10 days or so. So I'm almost unable to even work because my job (investment services) has to do a lot with the banks. Nevertheless, I remain optimistic and eager to see how this situation unfolds. Good stuff haha.
    July 10 03:45 AM
  • manosg Long story short, I'm pretty good. Gardening, swimming daily, working and jamming good music. Long story though, is that the situation in Greece is pretty bad atm. My country has been run by corrupt/useless politicians for 35 years now which has resulted in a huge public debt. Consequently and in order to repay the debt, taxation has been rising significantly each year leading to less and less disposable income.
    July 10 03:40 AM
  • BigHans Haha sorry. Got you mixed up with Arcade
    July 9 05:53 PM
  • BigHans Blue Murder album is gloriously cheesy
    July 9 05:05 PM
  • manosg haha that's the spirit! Apart from the beloved veggies, how's everything with you?

  • manosg oh man, that's hard to say. But if I have to choose just one, I'd say broccoli. Not hard to grow and much better than those we buy. How about you?
    July 9 02:03 AM
  • manosg haha nice! It's going very well this year. I've grown a lot of tomatoes, cucumbers, zucchinis and peppers and I'm waiting for some eggplants. The only thing that worries me is that my tomatoes seem to have some bugs that eat them (lol!) lately so I'll have to do something for it. I have no problem in sharing with mother nature but the damned bugs have a larger appetite than me haha.
    July 8 03:57 PM
  • manosg whoa, congrats dude! I've never grown strawberries but I've heard that they're infinitely better than those we buy at the grocery. I'm glad you enjoy this hobby, it's indeed very addictive and fulfilling. And the best thing is that it never stops! Once you've grown one thing, you want to grow another. And then do it better. Great stuff.
    July 8 01:11 PM
  • manosg haha yeah. It was supposed to have a second part but it was never released. I don't know if it's my enthusiasm but it's probably favorite Kinks atm.
    July 8 11:24 AM
  • BigHans Didn't see it anywhere on Spotify, found a live version on YouTube. Sounds like a good drinking song
    July 7 01:35 PM
  • BigHans jamming now, liking it. Up the punx!
    July 7 12:53 PM
  • manosg Hey man, just listened to Lola vs. Powerman and what can I say? It's brilliant, I'm honestly surprised by how much I enjoyed it.
    July 7 06:07 AM
  • Judio! Oh no worries dude, just wanted to make sure you knew the game was going on.
    July 6 02:04 PM
  • cryptside Hey buddy, doing okay. Just trying to get through this transition of being single and losing my makeshift family. What's going on with you? Message me on FB if you need to.
    July 5 02:06 PM
  • Judio! You should sign up for this, bud :)
    July 4 11:09 PM
  • JamieTwort Sorry for the late response, just seen your last post in my shoutbox again after forgetting to reply. My favourite Holter album is Loud City Song. Got it on vinyl not so long ago.
    July 4 08:28 AM
  • NorthernSkylark yeah i'll make it a priority and let you know how i feel about it. so many great female artists these days!
    July 1 08:41 PM
  • Ecnalzen It sounds intriguing. Will do.
    June 30 11:41 PM
  • loveisamixtape haha! that's the song everyone compares to b
    June 30 05:00 PM
  • JamieTwort Also check out Grouper's collaboration with Tiny Vipers under the name Mirrorring if you haven't already. Foreign Body, the album they did together, is great.
    June 30 03:23 PM
  • JamieTwort Definitely check out Jasmine Guffond - Yellow Bell, it's possibly my AOTY so far and has is similar to Grouper's ambient stuff in style. Also Julianna Barwick is quite similar to Grouper and also to a lesser extent Julia Holter (despite not sounding THAT much like Grouper some of her material has a similar feel).
    June 30 03:21 PM
  • Ecnalzen I don't know if I have checked any of his solo stuff. What kind of vibe does it have?
    June 29 11:46 PM
  • DaveyBoy Yeah, I knew. Gave the single a listen and it didn't really do all that much for me. I recall thinking the same of his debut though, but eventually coming around to it.
    June 29 07:43 PM
  • Ecnalzen I might have to go for the whole thing and see what happens. I thought the pre-release songs they put out weren't all that interesting, but I only tried them once or twice. I mean, I didn't like Renacer much at all on first listen, so I may have the same thing happen with this one.
    June 28 04:16 PM
  • cryptside Miss you too man.
    June 28 01:13 PM
  • Ecnalzen You gonna review new Senses Fail?
    June 27 03:04 PM
  • loveisamixtape thanks dawg. do you have an email address or something? i gotsa question for ya
    June 25 05:00 PM
  • loveisamixtape think i'm gonna. i haven't reviewed anything in a while so don't destroy me if it sucks
    June 23 03:46 PM
  • Evreaia I found neofolk-ish album thats not bad (I liked it), its more like current 93 than Vali though.
    June 20 01:38 PM
  • DaveyBoy Yep. Review will be up soon. The issue Im having at the moment is the words maybe not matching up with the rating. It's great, but I think theyre capable of better. Maybe Ive misjudged their ceiling. Dunno.
    June 18 07:55 PM
  • Evreaia No good ones, sadly :/
    June 18 07:50 AM
  • Lucid that sorority noise record is giving me so many hotelier feelings
    June 17 02:45 AM
  • DaveyBoy Since our reviewing paths cross so often, I thought I should let you know that I will likely be reviewing the new vs the world. Fingers crossed its a good un.
    June 13 08:15 PM
  • Toondude10 alright, thanks!
    June 12 04:34 PM
  • Toondude10 hahaha, that's fine
    June 12 03:48 PM
  • Toondude10 sweet thanks :-)
    June 12 02:22 PM
  • Toondude10 Think you could proofread my review? It's on the proofreading thread.
    June 12 02:11 PM
  • NorthernSkylark cool. should i check no one gets lost anymore too? i see that u prefer it over their new, which resonated so much with me!
    June 10 03:14 PM
  • NorthernSkylark sorry for the late response. yeah gave it a go yesterday it's prob a solid 4! very nice album
    June 10 09:04 AM
  • JohnnyOnTheSpot yeah man hope it goes well
    June 9 12:53 AM
  • JohnnyOnTheSpot just plan for whatever case, kinda impossible to give good advice on such a complicated topic via shoutbox lol but the best thing in any situation is to just support each other. guess now you'll have to play the waiting game
    June 8 10:57 PM
  • JohnnyOnTheSpot congrats, dude. any questions, hmu
    June 8 06:28 PM
  • DaveyBoy I know, I know. It was just a constant exercise in bad timing.
    June 5 08:27 PM
  • pissbore oh s*** yeah plug doesnt work on mobile yet, only PC
    June 4 05:44 PM

    June 4 02:20 AM
  • Artuma yeah i saw that list but i think you already got a s*** ton of great recs in there so didn't feel the need to give any recs myself
    June 3 10:00 PM
  • Hep Kat Pretty overrated, but overall satisfactory jams.
    June 3 08:36 PM
  • Trebor. What it Takes To Move Forward is my favorite album in general
    June 3 03:26 PM
  • pissbore Why do you not plug bro
    June 3 02:25 PM
  • pissbore
    June 2 07:10 PM
  • Ecnalzen I just put in my car for the first time. Gonna see how it is as a full album. Just been listening to it on shuffle with other stuff before. Glad you are liking it more.
    May 31 09:59 PM
  • Ecnalzen I really liked Wolf King I just thought most of the clean vocals were a bit s***ty. I am glad they got the guitarist that normally does them back for Coward. Pressure the Hinges is also pretty good, but isn't quite as musically interesting as Wolf King, but the better clean singer is on that album, so it makes up for it a bit.
    May 27 07:58 PM
  • Ecnalzen Pretty well. Got most of our stuff at the new place. Just need to finish cleaning the old one so we can (hopefully) get most of our deposit back. Liked the new Haste the Day, Eh? Didn't know you had any interest in them.
    May 27 07:38 PM
  • Rowan5215 yeah it's been pretty sweet although I just came out of a six-hour rehearsal and I feel like I've been pooped out by a horse. I dunno if we have that holiday here in aus though lol
    May 23 02:41 AM
  • Rowan5215 haha it was actually my first time on the bud and quite frankly I'm amazed I made it this long into life without getting high before. I'm studying Theatre/Media which is a very unique course where we learn lots of critical thinking skills and writing skills as well as how to do basically every job you can get in a theatre
    May 22 07:28 PM
  • Ecnalzen Nope! This is when we are moving, ha ha. It was about the only time we could get some of our family members over here to help us with the Uhaul and all that since it's a holiday weekend. We have about a 3 hour drive to where we are going. It's going to suck. I am still working next week, too, so once we get most of our stuff in the new apt between Sunday/Monday, I get to come right back and finish out work and cleaning this place up.
    May 22 07:15 PM
  • Ecnalzen I do, but I haven't spent a lot of time with it yet. I think I have heard every song at least once, but the only standouts I can remember so far are Thrash and What's Stopping You. I am still waiting for my backer copy to come in so I can take it in my car and give it some good spins. I haven't really had the chance to just sit down and give all my attention to it with the moving and whatnot.
    May 22 07:08 PM
  • Cygnatti yeah, this is like deep s*** man. I really don't know what to do.
    May 22 02:46 PM
  • Cygnatti So things are pretty rough for me right now. I could really use some life advice right now..
    May 22 01:47 PM
  • Rowan5215 yeah same here - guessing I'm a fair bit younger than you, haha. I'm just doing generic first year uni stuff rn aka getting high, doing assignments, listening to Blur etc its been a really good couple of days for me actually. Where are you vacationing? sounds like a wonderful time
    May 22 03:59 AM
  • Ecnalzen Maybe I just haven't listened to new Emery enough, but it doesn't seem like he is on it as much as the previous ones. I also heard him say on the album commentary that he didn't really have much to do with the songwriting, so that might have something to do with it.
    May 22 03:32 AM
  • Artuma sorry bro haven't gotten around to it yet. i will check it at some point tho i promise
    May 21 06:59 PM
  • Hawks Sweet I'll check it bro. Thanks for the rec. m/
    May 21 05:28 PM
  • Hawks I'll def let you know man. Probably will get to it within the next few days.
    May 21 05:21 PM
  • Hep Kat listen to fresh kills first. that's the comp of everything from 2009-2011. then check out the LPs in order, and then the other two EPs
    May 21 01:29 PM
  • Hep Kat their entire discography is on spotify cuz
    May 21 01:23 PM
  • Hep Kat you mean you havent ALREADY DONE SO WTF?!?? ****ign unbelievable
    May 21 01:07 PM
  • Hep Kat usually they would listen ye, but i blew that chance card on requesting staff reviews of the upcoming tenement and night birds albums. im prayin to jah they come thru 4 me on this one b
    May 21 12:46 PM
  • Rowan5215 haha it's no big deal but thanks for trying lad you're a true brother. I feel like I should ask how's life going right now?
    May 20 08:54 PM
  • Crysis thanks for the rec i'll be sure to give it a listen. been behind on music this year
    May 20 06:19 PM
  • evilford lol yeah give it some time, you don't have to send it to me. I appreciate the thought tho...but yeah just let it sink in for a while, it'll come around ;-)
    May 20 05:15 PM
  • evilford oh you hadn't heard it??? wow that's a big one. it took a long time to grow on me. I went from kind of liking it, to not liking it, to loving it. it's not an album most people are gonna get right away...I would give it a couple months
    May 20 05:08 PM
  • evilford hell yeah that's awesome dude
    May 20 09:11 AM
  • evilford ****in sweet rock on brother m/
    May 19 09:16 PM
  • Ecnalzen Also, you checked out much of the new Emery? I likes it. I want to say we have talked about them before, but I can't remember how much of a fan you are of them.
    May 19 07:00 PM
  • Ecnalzen It's kind of gorgeous. I generally don't like their slower songs, but this one is pretty damn good.
    May 19 06:59 PM
  • Rowan5215 enjoy!
    May 19 07:34 AM
  • Rowan5215 The Mother and the Mechanic aren't really anything special so I don't blame you for not enjoying the album as a whole but good lord I love the Path. One of my favourite (and best-executed) concept albums ever
