    May 15 01:42 PM
  • Conmaniac haha just saw it thats great
    May 10 08:10 PM
  • JohnnyOnTheSpot and Big L is legendary so def give him some time
    May 5 02:02 PM
  • JohnnyOnTheSpot the new Lil Ugly Mane has some noise and industrial flavour to it, kinda like Dalek I suppose. also check Nickelus F and Shawn Kemp - Trick Dice (which i also reviewed). Public Enemy are also kinda essential, as Dalek took a lot of influence from their style. and maybe Tackhead
    May 5 01:53 PM
  • SowingSeason And no, not much else to impart. I don't think my posts are any better than yours so I'm not in a position to dish out advice. Just experiment with different formats and hit preview over and over until you're content - that's my method! =)
    May 5 01:43 PM
  • SowingSeason Hey! To make the paragraphs straight I just use the justify button on the toolbar and to size the images I typically just drag the corners to my liking, and use the preview post button religiously. Unfortunately they're not much of trade secrets or anything lol. It's actually a lot easier now than what it used to be - in the beginning I had to type the html code for the entire damn thing.
    May 5 01:40 PM
  • JohnnyOnTheSpot yeah can't quite decide what I want the centennial to be
    May 2 07:27 PM
  • Insurrection always open to new classical recs. will check
    April 30 06:15 PM
  • Toondude10 yeah if you liked the new Sufjan I'm sure you'll like this
    April 25 04:54 PM
  • Toondude10 I think this is a band you'd dig.
    April 24 07:10 AM
  • SowingSeason If a review isn't up by Monday night then I most likely am not covering it...I didn't have dibs though, so don't feel restricted if you really want to put one out there
    April 23 02:56 PM
  • JohnnyOnTheSpot oo nice catch
    April 22 07:27 PM
  • JohnnyOnTheSpot yeah but i think you'd appreciate the instrumental elements, maybe.. worth a shot
    April 22 12:17 PM
  • JohnnyOnTheSpot not sure if you like Dalek but give their new album a try
    April 22 12:08 PM
  • SowingSeason I'd love to. Might not get a chance for several days yet. I take it you like it?
    April 21 07:43 PM
  • JamieTwort Oh really? Nice. I had no idea about the Woods connection. I'll let you know what I think when I get around to it.
    April 21 05:03 PM
  • JamieTwort I saw it on RYM and immediately thought after seeing the mention of Dylan that I'll either dig it or consider it a cheap knock-off. Hopefully the former but either way I'm intrigued to check it out.
    April 21 04:52 PM
  • JamieTwort Interesting that you should mention that today as I only stumbled across that album earlier today and thought it might be something I'd dig. Will check it out.
    April 21 04:36 PM
  • Insurrection that should keep me busy for a while. thanks man
    April 20 09:22 PM
  • Insurrection good to see you getting into weezer btw. theyve got some great stuff
    April 20 05:32 PM
  • Insurrection so yea it was the right symphony, just broken up for some reason. my favorites by sibelius are 5 and 7 for sure but ill give them all some more time to grow. any other lesser known symphonies you recommend?
    April 20 05:14 PM
  • Insurrection agh, i guess ill compare it to a youtube performance or something. thats the only thing that sucks about classical music digitally, there are so many versions of any piece making it hard to find the perfect one
    April 19 04:18 PM
  • Insurrection the version of sibelius' 7th symphony i have has four movements, total 23 minutes. is that about right?
    April 19 03:39 PM
  • cryptside Awesome man! I will check that Woods album, reading your review of it now. Thanks, man! Glad to be back reviewing.
    April 16 05:09 PM
  • cryptside Just posted a review for Curious Things, actually.
    April 16 01:10 PM
  • cryptside I would say Curious Things by Eluvium is one of my favorites from this year so far, although it's just a b-sides comp. He's my favorite ambient artist, so there's that. I like the Starting Line's EP as well, but I've been struggling to find things that I love from this year so far. Hammock and EITS's records were pretty special as well though.
    April 16 10:45 AM
  • Rowan5215 It was god awful. Sounded like four low quality demos for Disaster off Dogs Eating Dogs. I'll check the new one tho
    April 15 07:08 PM
  • Rowan5215 For real? After ...Of Nightmares I thought they were dead tbh
    April 15 06:39 PM
  • cryptside Hey buddy. Yep, got one coming this weekend.
    April 14 05:06 PM
  • SowingSeason Track of the day seems to be losing some steam. Not sure how long/if it will last, but thanks for being incredibly active either way.
    April 14 02:47 PM
  • Insurrection ah, i guess i did start his stuff. i was trying to go chronologically but ill get to it all eventually. im feeling a classical binge coming on soon
    April 13 05:31 PM
  • Insurrection i haven't heard any sibelius actually :s I'll definitely get to him soon. and im nowhere near done with the beethoven reviews lol. i was hoping to have at least symphony no 7 done by now but it's coming in the near future for sure. anyway its nice to have a staffer repping the true classics ;)
    April 13 05:17 PM
  • Insurrection hows the transition from contrib to staff? more pressure or still pretty chill?
    April 13 04:39 PM
  • Insurrection i used the program 'sibelius' a lot for composing (dunno if the composer actually had anything to do with it lol) but yea ive had his symphonies sitting in itunes for the longest time, gotta get to em soon. but im good, school's ending in a couple weeks and im going to NY for a week on vacation after that so things are looking up. i wanted to try for staff last time but the apps are always held during my dry spells. idk why, november through january is my review drought season
    April 13 04:38 PM
  • Insurrection hey man! nice to see classical ease its way into your pie chart ;) how've you been man? how's the staff life?
    April 13 04:13 PM
  • Trebor. I'll try dude
    April 8 06:06 PM
  • Trebor. I might try. I just don't have the words for reviews anymore really. I've been writing tons of screenplays but for some reason it's hard for me to write a review. Maybe I'm burnt out from the other writing idk
    April 8 05:56 PM
  • Trebor. yeah man it's horribly depressing and relatable
    April 6 02:55 PM
  • JamieTwort Not yet but I'll definitely get on it soon :]
    April 5 02:39 PM
  • cryptside Well, I loved it for the most part. It definitely took a similar story arc to A New Hope. Overall I was really impressed with it though.
    April 5 01:36 PM
  • Trebor. I think I'm going to try. I've been having a really hard time writing reviews the last year
    April 4 08:53 PM
  • Rowan5215 Thanks my man! Couldn't have done it without your feedback over the years
    April 4 07:38 PM
  • Trebor. I think they broke up :( I just heard this album for the first time today and I haven't had such a strong immediate connection with an album in a while. The lyrics are so good and I love the way the whole album builds up and peaks on the last few tracks
    April 4 06:38 PM
  • Trebor. Dude you gotta check out this album it's ridiculous.
    April 4 03:00 PM
  • JamieTwort Cool, will have a look now.
    April 4 02:04 PM
  • cryptside Niiiice! What did you think of The Force Awakens?! And thanks for the compliments man. So psyched you're staff now.
    April 4 01:11 PM
  • cryptside Finally put out a review! I have three more planned out though. Mind taking a look at it?
    April 3 03:15 PM
  • JamieTwort Didn't even realise it was out yet. Good to hear, will check. How does it compare to their previous 2?
    April 3 09:30 AM
  • Toondude10 eh, someone else came to my aid for the review, you're still more than welcome to give out some more feedback though ;-)
    April 2 09:59 PM
  • emester Learning to italic would help immensely. Thanks
    April 2 04:06 PM
  • Toondude10 that's fine, the album came out Friday so it's no big deal
    April 2 02:48 PM
  • Toondude10 idk, am i allowed to ask staff for proofreading help
    April 2 01:41 PM
  • Judio! Oh really? I'll for sure check it out then. Their last lp was pretty underwhelming so Im excited to hear this.
    April 1 06:23 PM
  • AtomicWaste I'll have to check it. Where do you rate it among their other stuff? That should give me a good baseline on how to approach it!
    March 31 06:54 PM
  • SowingSeason Go ahead and try it again, maybe don't copy paste sometimes that screws with things
    March 31 02:39 PM
  • SowingSeason original post: You‚??re stuck with me again for this week‚??s throwback Thursday write-up, so that means me digging through my vinyl collection in search of old some old nostalgic tunes. Enjoy!and cheers Sowing, glad you like it
    March 31 02:39 PM
  • SowingSeason Or scratch that - I can it only, so looks like you're just going to have to remove your comment and re-type it.
    March 31 02:08 PM
  • SowingSeason Nope. But I can edit just about anything. What did you want it to say?
    March 31 02:07 PM
  • cryptside very belated congrats on Staff, buddy. Hope all is well.
    March 26 02:44 PM
  • Toondude10 fair enough, it'll certainly be interesting to see what they'll do for their next album
    March 22 06:48 PM
  • Toondude10 cool, can't wait to read it. It'll be interesting to see what they'll do for their next album.
    March 22 06:25 PM
  • Toondude10 ikr, definitely one of the coolest things I've seen in a long time
    March 22 05:51 PM
  • JohnnyOnTheSpot a lot of electronic albums have this cool effect when played on cassette format, idk
    March 22 02:12 PM
  • JohnnyOnTheSpot no idea man lol.
    March 22 01:48 PM
  • JohnnyOnTheSpot this Pleasure Model is available on cassette also - a must-purchase, imo
    March 22 01:33 PM
  • JohnnyOnTheSpot lol, it happened with my Currensy review too for whatever reason
    March 22 01:25 PM
  • wham49 it gets crazy, ive toned down now because I have to spend money on my daughter, but before I would spend all my extra cash, but when I started around 98, everything was a couple bucks,
    March 21 03:34 PM
  • wham49 about 2500, I have started to thin out doubles and triples to pay for some bills, I have everything from metal to jazz
    March 21 02:07 PM
  • wham49 ya mono does sound better and after 64 is the more expensive disc because there were less of them, the reason I asked is because some of the most expensive records are the freewheelin mono errors with it playing different song
    March 21 10:28 AM
  • beachdude I noticed that most Marvin Gaye albums on here don't have reviews, and some of the ones that they do have are frankly mediocre. I decided to do a seven-part retrospective series on all of Marvin's "late-period" albums, starting with What's Going On and going through his final album Midnight Love. Kind of part my thoughts on the album, part history lesson on how each ties into the time period and that point in Marvin's life. I'm starting April 2, which would've been Marvin's 77th birthday.
    March 20 06:05 PM
  • beachdude About to finally return to writing on here with hopefully a bunch of reviews in the next few weeks... I have an idea for a series of reviews in April that I think you'll dig.
    March 20 05:02 PM
  • Brostep yeah it's cool stuff
    March 19 12:35 AM
  • JohnnyOnTheSpot I think Aracde or Snox are gonna cover it. maybe
    March 18 02:04 PM
  • Brostep no worries! it's PopMatters (
    March 18 12:50 AM
  • Toondude10 if you want to do it I have no problems. Like I said there are a couple of reviews I want to do anyways. After all you're the one with the fancy staff badge. did you check out that Marble Machine video yet?
    March 17 06:03 PM
  • Toondude10 maybe, I've been planning on a couple other reviews atm
    March 17 03:25 PM
  • SowingSeason nah it's throwback thursday - it's supposed to be sentimental.
    March 17 12:41 PM
  • Toondude10 Pretty much every song stands out on that album. You can really connect with them. And yeah that last song is arguably the best.
    March 15 07:52 PM
  • Toondude10 true, check out their "Marble Machine" music video if you haven't yet. I made a news post about it not too long ago.
    March 15 07:46 PM
  • Toondude10 glad you liked it. I thought it was really fun too.
    March 15 07:36 PM
  • Willie Unless you wanted one of the days, I'll just stick with this Wednesday and next Thursday.
    March 14 10:35 PM
  • Willie That's okay. I don't want to do back-to-back days.
    March 14 09:50 PM
  • beachdude Very true haha... alright I'll give it a shot when I get some downtime.
    March 11 11:46 PM
  • beachdude I am too man! I'd be happy for us both to review it if that's what you wanna do haha
    March 11 08:28 PM
  • Jom Yes, thank you - we got it a little over a month ago. Surprised that there aren't any reviews for it yet.
    March 11 04:12 PM
  • JohnnyOnTheSpot lol. yeah it's getting kinda overlooked; could use the Atari bump
    March 11 12:25 PM
  • Toondude10 will check when I get the chance, also Flogging Molly came out with a new song
    March 10 07:22 PM
  • JohnnyOnTheSpot whew
    March 10 06:38 PM
  • JohnnyOnTheSpot i'd say it's ideal for the evening or anytime where you're alone and in solace but yeah, so nicely layered
    March 10 06:18 PM
  • JohnnyOnTheSpot def check this Boliden album man it's so choice
    March 10 06:10 PM
  • Toondude10 Wintergatan, it's a self-titled album
    March 10 06:09 PM
  • Toondude10 this is a fun album, I'd think you'd like it
    March 10 06:01 PM
  • bnelso55 I'll check those for sure! I've heard some Max Richter, but not that particular album, and Sarah Neufeld is unknown to me, so I'm looking forward to hearing something new. Thanks!
    March 10 03:03 PM
  • bnelso55 How about you? Have you found anything good lately?
    March 10 02:37 PM
  • bnelso55 Don't know if you've heard their stuff already, but if not, you might give it a shot. It's nothing too groundbreaking, but I enjoy it. Somewhere between Asya Sergeeva and Musk Ox's mellower moments, maybe?
    March 10 02:24 PM
  • bnelso55 Hey! Good to hear from you! You know, I haven't discovered any 2016 releases that have really grabbed my attention. I have been digging these guys a little bit though.
    March 10 02:18 PM
  • beachdude I think I listened a while back, but I'll definitely check it again!
    March 10 01:39 PM
  • beachdude I can give it a shot! I'm honestly not that well-versed with all of The Gaslight Anthem's albums but I'll listen to the ones I haven't heard much to make sure I have context and all that. It'll probably be next week since I'm really swamped with finals right now (I was planning to review The 1975's album and never did, I'll probably write that around the same time).
    March 10 07:58 AM
  • DaveyBoy Much appreciated Atari. Thanks mate.
    March 10 03:06 AM
  • DaveyBoy How ironic I just quoted you on my 1st comment of 2016 on Sowings blog. Anyway, thanks mate. I can only assure you that there has been a justified reason for my absence. Unsure when or if I will make a return, or what that will compose of. Ive been in touch with Jom and Sowing though.
    March 9 09:40 PM
  • ExplosiveOranges Optimistic as always, lol. If it still doesn't work in a few days, though, I'll probably contact Jom. Thanks for the advice, bruv.
    March 9 07:44 PM
  • ExplosiveOranges Thing is, I'm not sure if it's on my end or the site's, because sowing apparently seems to be fine on mobile.
    March 9 07:12 PM
  • ExplosiveOranges When I try getting on to the forums with my phone, it redirects me to some adobe flash virus popup.
    March 9 06:52 PM
  • ExplosiveOranges Hey dude, are you able to get onto the forums right now?
    March 9 06:41 PM
  • CL0VER pretty fun game, especially if you have a couple of mates. havent touched it in a while though, been more on a Counter Strike surge lately.
    March 9 12:10 PM
  • CL0VER some silly picture of the Heavy from Team Fortress 2.
    March 9 11:56 AM
  • JohnnyOnTheSpot lol unlikely but I haven't delved
    March 5 12:54 PM
  • JohnnyOnTheSpot and maybe Julia Wolfe
    March 5 12:50 PM
  • JohnnyOnTheSpot maybe Max Richter. a lot of ppl on here like him
    March 5 12:32 PM
  • JohnnyOnTheSpot sent
    March 1 06:48 PM
  • JohnnyOnTheSpot i've got an exam in like an hour so i won't get to it until probably this afternoon or whatever, but yeah i'll try and have some helpful feedback to you by this evening or tomorrow morning at the very latest
    March 1 01:15 PM
  • JohnnyOnTheSpot k will do
    March 1 01:08 PM
  • JamieTwort Damn no I didn't, thanks for the reminder.
    February 27 04:08 PM
  • Calc that's east side nonsense I've never heard of it. have fun though!
    February 27 12:00 PM
  • Calc didn't know we were facebook friends but we are so i know it's your birthday today yay happy birthday!
    February 27 11:41 AM
  • JohnnyOnTheSpot sure man. you could even post it somewhere in olympus if you wanted, but yeah feel free to send it to me if you want to be more discrete
    February 26 08:09 PM
  • JohnnyOnTheSpot wait nvm i know what it is i think
    February 26 08:06 PM
  • JohnnyOnTheSpot what's it for?
    February 26 08:03 PM
  • JohnnyOnTheSpot it just probably won't get featured until then, and, unless theres a stream, no one will really have much to add in the comment section i imagine. i recommend posting like a few days before , but w/e
    February 26 07:44 PM
  • JohnnyOnTheSpot yep. maybe just mention it in the dibs thread or something, but yeah dude. the expectation of staff is that we're good to go in that regard and don't need handholding lol
    February 26 07:37 PM
  • JohnnyOnTheSpot yeah it's a Profound Lore release so I'm sure it'll pick up a bit
    February 25 07:21 PM

  • Mongi123 Certainly no rush to cause I'll going deeper in bm and post rock atm. Some brilliant stuff in bm out there. My fav has been Storm Of The Night's Bane so far.
    February 24 02:23 PM
  • Mongi123 That's alright dude I try it eventually. That'll be at the top of my list when I'm in the mood to attempt a new pop punk album haha
    February 24 02:16 PM
  • Mongi123 Haha ok. It sound anything like The Wonder Years??
    February 24 02:04 PM
  • Willie I might review it. I have three albums that I want to review this week.

    February 23 12:57 PM
  • hogan900 Will def check it out, loved Turnovers last album a lot.
    February 22 10:29 AM
  • JamieTwort I'll give it a go and let you know what I think :]
    February 20 02:23 PM
  • JohnnyOnTheSpot cheers man. yeah idk, thought maybe it could use a bit of pizzazz given the high score. or maybe the album doesn't present a lot to discuss ?
    February 20 10:10 AM
  • JohnnyOnTheSpot sure man
    February 20 09:05 AM
  • Trebor. Congrats on staff!
    February 18 03:23 PM
  • SowingSeason Ask Jom. I just thought about it and I did the same thing last year...I emailed him, he fixed it. If I have any admin authority over email accounts I'm not aware of it otherwise I'd gladly do it. I do remember him saying it can take a while for an credential change to take hold, but if it's been over a day I'd shoot him a message just to see where things stand.
    February 18 10:57 AM
  • SowingSeason Hey, sorry about the delay. Can you still not access?
    February 18 09:01 AM
  • JohnnyOnTheSpot i guess hit up Jom if it persists
    February 17 06:10 PM
  • JohnnyOnTheSpot no problems on my end

  • Rowan5215 I actually wrote up a review on my laptop but I disliked it so Id it. That album really passed me by though I haven't listened to it since it came out
    January 29 12:36 AM
  • Hawks Yeah bro Spotify Premiun is 10 a month too and it's def worth it.
    January 26 06:17 PM
  • Hawks Yeah I always like to listen to the full album in order so Bandcamp it is!
    January 26 05:05 PM
  • Hawks Oh I didn't know you could do that I thought they just shuffled the songs if you didn't have premium hahaha. But yeah either way I'll jam bro, probably tonight.
    January 26 04:53 PM
  • Hawks I don't have premium at the moment sadly, was in between jobs and couldn't pay for it lol. You know if it's on Bandcamp?
    January 26 04:36 PM
  • Hawks Will do bro!
    January 26 04:22 PM
  • Jom Not a worry (and not a pest). That's why my shoutbox is so slow.
    January 11 04:09 PM
  • Jom I fixed it in the first iteration, but with the server change, my initial draft got lost and I had to upload everything from scratch. Thanks for the heads-up either way!

  • manosg If you enjoy cauliflower and broccoli, both are relatively easy to grow and can stand the cold weather. Same with cabbage; not only it stands the cold weather but if it snows, it tastes even better haha! I love all of them, been growing them for 4-5 years now and not once they failed me.

  • manosg Christmas holidays are the best indeed. I don't know how cold the winter was in Washington this year but in Greece its so disappointing man. Apart from a few days, its been warm and dry throughout the winter season. Ugh sucks so much. You might try to plant a couple of winter veggies as well in the future. They're great as well!
    January 6 02:08 PM
  • manosg Can't complain. Whole christmas period was great for me especially compared to last year's. How about you?
    January 6 01:50 PM
  • JohnnyOnTheSpot it was a good, light-hearted writeup. some of the landscape descriptors might be a teensy bit cheesy (the vocalist himself sounds a nightmarish creature residing among the moss covered hilltops) but i think that's totally fine for this blog. i guess I'm not entirely sure what sets this apart from other folk/BM, so maybe you could just reiterate that it captures the atmosphere better than many other 2015 acts? idk. i'm kinda biased against this musical style - maybe ComeToDaddy would be better?
    January 3 11:28 AM
  • manosg Happy new year buddy. All the best!
    January 1 11:54 AM
  • JohnnyOnTheSpot it's easier this time of year when no one is submitting anything.
    December 23 02:30 PM
  • JohnnyOnTheSpot cheers dude
    December 23 02:09 PM
  • Rowan5215 no worries, it's only a 100-word writeup anyways right?
    December 22 07:22 PM
  • Rowan5215 absolutely no worries dude, I know well how that writer's block is - I'll just check in with him to make sure it's ok and I'll get cracking
    December 22 07:09 PM
  • Rowan5215 ha I'm flattered man! Arcade actually is getting me to do We Cool by Rosenstock already, if it's alright for me to do both then I'm down for it
    December 22 06:36 PM
  • JamieTwort It's cool man, I'm pretty busy myself so I'm not sure I'd even be able to handle more than one write up at the moment so as I've said I'll do Kendrick I better stick to that one if you or someone else is ok to cover Tallest Man.
    December 22 12:16 PM
  • Jom Just putting a bug in your ear that your team will have a busy week. Shoutbox or e-mail me if you have any questions. Good luck and have fun!
    December 20 02:38 PM
  • ShakerFaker anything of his you'd especially like to see reviewed? i'll definitely consider it.
    December 10 05:37 PM
  • ShakerFaker maybe, reviewing's a pretty spontaneous thing for me. you should though! you're contrib so it'd get more attention too
    December 10 05:09 PM
  • ShakerFaker his symphonies in particular. which i should definitely do at some point. as for dvorak, i like what i've heard by him but i've never been truly captivated enough to dig on my own. i will say his cello concerto is great, and his 8th symphony is my fav (i've only heard 3 tho) and string quartet no 13 is excellent, not many talk about it for some reason but i really really like it. so yeah. also, if you have any schubert symphony/orchestral recs send them my way :]
    December 10 02:31 PM
  • ShakerFaker i'm way more familiar with schubert because i've played a lot of his stuff. he's honestly one of my favorites for piano. his pieces are consistently delightful and just pretty. i think of all classical period composers, even though not the "greatest" schubert's pieces are most beautiful. you seem to like him a lot too and might've heard these already but - wanderer fantasy, impromptus, sonatas (5, 6, 13, 15, 16, 17... love so many of them) as for orchestral stuff, i'd need to actually listen to
    December 10 02:26 PM
  • Ocean of Noise Well... more of a grower than the two that came after anyway. I guess it's not quite as immediate.
    December 9 07:45 PM
  • JohnnyOnTheSpot drop into the contrib forum when you get a chance
    December 7 12:15 AM
  • Archael omg, i swear i posted something on here. well i wanted to completely readjust my ratingz but didn't want to have to do it manually so i just switched to an old account and went from there... x_x
