  • Keyblade No prob dude. Dvorak's Symphony No.9, Bach's The Art of Fugue (actually the Brandenburg Concertos, especially #3 are my favorite but you've heard that one), and Brahms' Violin Concerto in D off the top of my head are my favs
    December 28 12:08 AM
  • Keyblade See you're digging a lot of classical lately man. Check out Mozart's Clarinet Concerto in A Major. My favorite piece right there, the second movement especially. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JcIyTiKwDvU

  • Havey check the New World symphony, that was my favourite for a long time. now i can't decide, but it's probably one of these (sorry to overwhelm you with recs): Messiaen's Turangalila symphony, Mahler's 9th and Shostakovich no. 5 or 15
    December 24 05:06 AM
  • Frippertronics it's the Resident's very first EP, Santa Dog. Somewhat Christmas related, but it's a quick jam clocking in at 11 minutes. Far far more digestible than Eskimo for sure, I think you'd find some enjoyment in it.
    December 23 05:06 PM
  • Frippertronics not gonna lie, you should check this since it's pretty relevant this week: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j6UoYi1EADs

    December 16 08:57 PM
  • thacoconut94 Oh yeah that's right people on this site quite like their music hahaha, no worries my friend! I once heard a brilliant album by a black metal band but I can't remember their name, it was "October" something, if I ever remember I must hit you up
    December 16 06:10 PM
  • ExplosiveOranges Duuuuuuude, you would kill it as staff.
    December 16 04:59 PM
  • ExplosiveOranges 111 REVIEWS HOLY s***
    December 13 07:10 PM
  • JohnnyOnTheSpot oh sweet, thx for the feature request
    December 13 07:58 AM
  • Mongi123 However here's one of their many awesome songs https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TBYOgS7USGk
    December 11 09:53 PM
  • Mongi123 Yes dude one of my fav bands. http://www2.zippyshare.com/v/57668652/file.html Here's a download for this new one. They do everything COMPLETELY independently and the album isn't available to purchase directly yet so they can only move so fast. You can pre order a physical copy and get a download to listen too but in the meantime we have this haha
    December 11 09:49 PM
  • Mongi123 Ok man thanks. I'll prob try paysage next though cause max has been pushing them on me haha. You ever listen to Rishloo btw?
    December 11 09:24 PM
  • Mongi123 Ok man eventually. I'm a little caught up in my dig right now haha
    December 11 07:41 PM
  • JohnnyOnTheSpot yeah not for everyone
    December 11 07:16 PM
  • JohnnyOnTheSpot I gave your review another read and honestly, I don't think I'd change anything tbh.
    December 11 07:04 PM
  • JohnnyOnTheSpot np man
    December 11 06:50 PM
  • JohnnyOnTheSpot that's the ticket!
    December 11 05:40 PM
  • JohnnyOnTheSpot lol plenty of writers have influenced my style, it's nothing new
    December 11 05:37 PM
  • JohnnyOnTheSpot I'm a fan of shorter 3 para reviews tbh. as for criticisms, might have to wait until I'm at home and have access to a proper computer, but I'll let you know in an hour-ish
    December 11 05:33 PM
  • JohnnyOnTheSpot I will probably cry reading it
    December 11 12:30 PM
  • JohnnyOnTheSpot sweet
    December 11 12:25 PM
  • JohnnyOnTheSpot maybe just take a break and gather some inspiration lol, you've reviewed a a hell of a lot in the past couple years.
    December 11 12:16 PM
  • JohnnyOnTheSpot kinda bummed it wasn't featured, though I guess not a lot of people would vibe with this tbh. do you have any reviews upcoming?
    December 11 11:58 AM
  • JohnnyOnTheSpot cheers, lemme know what you think of that album if you end up listening
    December 10 05:11 PM
  • thelastsignal Nice dude! Yeah, PVRIS is a female-fronted pop rock/alt rock band. I think you'd like them alot. Yeah, my dept is open 24/7, so I have to work Christmas Eve which is kind of a bummer.
    December 10 04:21 PM
  • thelastsignal Not much, dude. Gearing up with the kids for Christmas time, hanging out with my girlfriend, and working a ton. Listening to a ton more 2014 stuff recently. Have you listened to PVRIS yet? What about you? Anything cool going on?
    December 10 04:04 PM
  • SnakeDelilah check foxing
    December 9 08:47 PM
  • SnakeDelilah actually the first track is like one of my favorites of that
    December 9 05:40 PM
  • SnakeDelilah gonna listen right now
    December 9 03:24 PM
  • Mongi123 Haha I hear ya. Dude I'll be hooked on Escape for a while now.
    December 8 07:23 PM
  • Mongi123 I wonder how it even happened in the first place. Life goes on of course but it looks so stupid on our pages haha
    December 8 07:08 PM
  • Mongi123 I wonder if the broken last.fm thing will ever get fixed lol
    December 8 07:05 PM
  • Mongi123 Yea definitely dude the ambient sections are killer
    December 8 03:39 PM
  • Mongi123 Dude Escape is an amazing track holy crap. Totally unexpected on that record.
    December 8 02:05 PM
  • CaptainDooRight so you prefer hybrids im assuming. yeah ill go as low as hybrids too but indica's don't really make me pass out, but it does depending on the type though sometimes
    December 5 05:20 PM
  • Mongi123 Cool man! Yea it's a one of a kind experience that demands you're full attention. It's like audio storytelling basically. It's like falling into a terrible dream and trying to find your way out.
    December 5 04:34 PM
  • Mongi123 Haha yep! As you listen more, the length won't affect you anymore and every second is essential. You finish it?
    December 5 04:22 PM
  • Mongi123 Man that is quite an experience that one. Enjoy the journey, cause that's basically what it is.
    December 5 02:57 PM
  • Mongi123 Well yea time passes and things change. A year ago I barely loved harsh vox and look at me now now; jamming hard to Burzum lol Explosions and Hammock are completely aggression free but the others all have some moments where they get a tad "heavier" than normal, though all of them have different styles. Godspeed is definitely the heaviest and darkest I'd say.
    December 5 02:48 PM
  • Mongi123 For Godspeed it's in the second track. Believe me, you'll know when you get to it haha. And also draining puddles gets heavy as **** at the end too but I still don't think you could call any of it metal.
    December 5 02:23 PM
  • Mongi123 Nah Skinny fists definitely gets heavy at some points and there's one point in skinny fists where people, serious and sometimes not, call it one of the heavier moments in music but it's different than metal really. And ( ) gets a tad heavy in te final minutes but honestly no.
    December 5 02:19 PM
  • Mongi123 Also if you want a little ambient and shoegaze with your post rock go with Raising Your Voice by Hammock or if you want some emo with it go with Draining Puddles, Retrieving Treasures by A Bunny's Caravan or The Dark Dark Bright by There Will Be Fireworks.
    December 5 01:51 PM
  • Mongi123 If you want to start with when the genre was still young, which also has some of the best I might add, I'd go with either Hex by Bark Psychosis or Laughing Stock by Talk Talk. However, if you wanna jump right into the thick of things you could go with Lift Your Skinny Fists by Godspeed You! Black Emperor or ( ) by Sigur Ros, which also happens to be my all time fav album! You choose haha
    December 5 01:48 PM
  • Mongi123 Oh sweet my time to shine! Well if you wanna ease into the genre then I'd start off with All Is Violent, All Is Bright by God Is An Astronaut or The Earth Is Not A Cold Dead Place by Explosions In The Sky.
    December 5 01:47 PM
  • Mongi123 Yea dude of course. I definitely think I'm good for now but I'll let you know definitely.
    December 5 01:35 PM
  • Mongi123 Dude Autumn Aurora is amazing!
    December 5 01:04 PM
  • JohnnyOnTheSpot thanks, means a lot man
    December 4 07:49 PM
  • JohnnyOnTheSpot I try to only review stuff that grabs me in some sort of interesting way. There's plenty of albums I've wanted to review, but didn't bother because I couldn't connect with them for whatever reason.
    December 4 07:37 PM
  • JohnnyOnTheSpot Thx dude. Yeah that one track is neat
    December 4 07:33 PM
  • JohnnyOnTheSpot sup man. I'd like a bit of feedback for my newest rev if you're available. Definitely a more personal/conversational approach, but hopefully it reads well
    December 4 07:19 PM
  • Ecnalzen http://baysidebayside.com/
    December 4 04:35 PM
  • Ecnalzen There are two shows "near" me. My friends and I are gonna have to drive about 3 hours to get to one, if we go.
    December 4 04:25 PM
  • Ecnalzen Have you heard about the Senses Fail/Bayside tour yet?
    December 4 02:28 PM
  • SnakeDelilah i actually should've described them as AvA if their godfather was American Football
    December 3 06:31 PM
  • SnakeDelilah Band: Deer Leap; Song: We Are Not Who We Are
    December 3 06:30 PM
  • SnakeDelilah check this out it's like ava minus tom delonge plus prog https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8RznvBqjjaU
    December 3 06:13 PM
  • SnakeDelilah i've never been happier for a band tbh
    December 3 05:52 PM
  • Mongi123 That's awesome dude I think it's pretty underrated.
    December 3 01:59 PM
  • Mongi123 It's funny that you say that I really don't want one haha I love it. It's become one of my fav hobbies but yea I agree I gotta see how much goddamn work I have.
    December 3 12:27 PM
  • Mongi123 Yea I know lol that's what I'll prob do! Maybe asking to drop the tag in the future is a bit hasty xD
    December 3 12:14 PM
  • thelastsignal Hey I downloaded Circa's new one, going to listen tonight. : )
    December 3 12:36 AM
  • Mongi123 That'll definitely be the next album I listen to though! I remember when I first joined here, I literally tried out three albums a day. Not ****ing doing that anymore lol it's too much. It's more enjoyable to try new music at a slow pace :)
    December 2 08:28 PM
  • Mongi123 Thanks dude! Yea I plan on trying music a lot slower now cause I have more than enough to last me two lifetimes haha
    December 2 08:16 PM
  • Mongi123 I'm downloading it now btw I'll try to listen to it ASAP!
    December 2 07:58 PM
  • Mongi123 Cool man will do! Listened to Hvis twice today it's so awesome.
    December 2 07:53 PM
  • thelastsignal I will need to catch up on their discog. Is the Violent Waves one any good?
    November 29 03:31 PM
  • thelastsignal Thanks again for the advice on my Ab-Soul review; finally made the changes on it.
    November 28 05:27 PM
  • thelastsignal I used to love Juturna, but it kind of grew off me. I really liked Blue Sky Noise just haven't heard it in awhile.
    November 27 11:15 AM
  • Gameofmetal Will do
    November 26 04:37 PM
  • Gameofmetal Honestly that's longer than me. I liked Mayhem's classic album. The vocals are weird but the atmosphere is about as dark as BM gets.
    November 26 04:22 PM
  • Gameofmetal I doubt there's anything I could rec that you don't already know. I'm sticking with paysage, Coldworld, Agalloch, etc. Actually really any black metal band fits the weather. I jammed Immortal and Mayhem yesterday, that worked well.
    November 26 04:16 PM
  • thelastsignal I don't mind some of their stuff, but I don't really listen to them anymore. If their new one is good, I might try it out. Is it heavier than usual?
    November 26 02:06 PM
  • thelastsignal Hey dude, mind reading my review from today when you have the chance? Just a short writeup to get the cobwebs out of my head for review writing lol.
    November 26 10:44 AM
  • ExplosiveOranges Yukon Cornelius?
    November 25 05:22 PM
  • Mongi123 Yea and he seems more refined on that entire record in general. His intense vocals on Schema are amazing.
    November 24 07:58 PM
  • Mongi123 Idk man they're both pretty awesome. I may like the new one better though because you know...Schema and Nesting Dolls ;)
    November 24 07:50 PM
  • Mongi123 Same here I kinda just listened to their first record and wrote it off a long time ago but now I'm on a circa kick like you and greens voice has really grown on me. It took some work but now I like him a lot haha
    November 24 01:30 PM
  • Mongi123 What you find boring about it? The people talk about it it seems like the masses think the same.
    November 24 01:11 PM
  • Mongi123 Sweet! I'm jamming violent waves right now. About half way through and im loving it! Surprised that's their lowest average actually.
    November 24 12:52 PM
  • Mongi123 Yo dude, this Circa album is so awesome. I may even bump this one to 4.5. I've honestly never liked a Circa album this much.
    November 24 10:43 AM
  • Ecnalzen But I already bought it! Damn it. It kind of irks me when bands do this. I guess I could always buy it again and sell the original.
    November 23 04:08 PM
  • Mister Twister You should check out Panikk. Cool thrash from last March. Also it's from Slovenia. You know the Slovenes make good stuff. (I have no reason to believe that, I just assume it's a nice place)
    November 22 07:16 PM
  • thelastsignal Getting into the Christmas spirit, huh? Lol I love the Rudolph movie.
    November 22 03:32 PM
  • Mongi123 Cool man! I gotta finish it later.
    November 22 01:44 PM
  • Mongi123 Yea when I finish it I hope it doesn't start to go downhill
    November 21 05:37 PM
  • Mongi123 I only listened to the first four tracks but so far I like what I hear! They went a little heavier for sure. The first two songs rule.
    November 21 05:02 PM
  • Mongi123 So how you liking the new Circa?
    November 21 04:43 PM
  • Gameofmetal Yeah, I might have to bump it higher even. Awesome stuff for winter, although I often tend to want to listen to happy music in winter more. Pop punk usually.
    November 21 03:16 PM
  • Gameofmetal Yep, loved it. Very cold atmosphere lol. Kinda want to listen to it again before I rate but I'm feeling something high
    November 20 08:26 PM
  • JohnnyOnTheSpot thx for the continuous feedback man
    November 17 12:08 PM
  • Ecnalzen Will do. I might like Cult the most so far. It's pretty close between it and TWW. Walking has Choice Hops tho, and it's probably my favorite Bayside song, so that might give it the edge instead of Cult, but Bear With Me is also pretty glorious. Gonna buy Above The Weeping World next week. Thanks for that rec, btw.
    November 16 02:33 PM
  • Ecnalzen Fair enough. I supposed I can't be mad about too much Bayside, right? What's your favorite by them?
    November 14 11:22 PM
  • JohnnyOnTheSpot ughhh! lol, fixed
    November 14 07:28 PM
  • manosg The Doors at a beautiful 4.5, now that's what I'm talking about!
    November 14 03:50 AM
  • Gameofmetal Lol yeah it looks like something I'll dig. Probably hit it up later tonight. Thx for the rec homie
    November 13 05:15 PM
  • Ecnalzen So, I was looking into trying another Bayside album. I've got Killing Time, Walking Wounded, and Cult. Where should I head next?
    November 12 07:03 PM
  • JohnnyOnTheSpot I'll throw my name in the hat, feeling good about it
    November 12 04:17 PM
  • JohnnyOnTheSpot Thanks man, that's a big compliment coming from you tbh
    November 12 03:45 PM
  • JohnnyOnTheSpot no rush man, it's no big d if you're busy
    November 12 01:32 PM
  • JohnnyOnTheSpot when I'm on my phone I sometimes hit the remove button by accident lol, I didn't actually mean to. thanks in advance
    November 11 07:32 PM
  • ExplosiveOranges http://img4.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20140219021116/sistersgrimm/images/2/22/AW_Yeah.gif
    November 10 05:27 PM
  • ExplosiveOranges Lol, you don't actually have to comment on it. But yeah, no prob. Looking forward to it.
    November 8 03:31 PM
  • ExplosiveOranges Comment on my newest review when it shows up on the front page!
    November 8 03:25 PM
  • ExplosiveOranges You almost have 20000 comments!
    November 8 03:03 PM
  • Ecnalzen I've listened/skimmed about half of the album. I like it for what it is, but I don't think it would be something I'd be willing to buy. Like, if it came on the radio, I'd be like "Hey, that's cool," but that would probably be as far as I go. Maps for the Getaway was really nice, tho. It was a standout among the other songs I listened to.
    November 6 04:53 PM
  • Ecnalzen Probably will! I listened to some Andrew McMahon yesterday. It was way poppier than I thought it was going to be. I thought he was more pop punk and whatnot.
    November 6 04:10 PM
  • Ecnalzen Yeah, that is true. Nintendo does make some really great games, but sometimes it just kind of feels like the same game over and over again, but with little improvements/changes here and there. So, I just found that I have a digital copy of lowcountry by Envy on the Coast, and I have no idea where I got it at, lol.
    November 5 06:59 PM
  • Ecnalzen Same here, but I know it won't drop in price anytime soon since it's a Zelda game and all that. All I have on the WiiU so far is Mario Kart 8 and the new Donkey Kong. Both are super fun. Nintendo games don't like to drop in price, tho, so it's hard to get them cheap unless they have been out for a really long time, so I only have the two games so far, ha ha.
    November 5 06:42 PM
  • Ecnalzen Will do. I might end up renting Bayonetta 2 one of these days, then. It's pretty cool that it comes with the first one. I wonder if that's a temporary thing. Have you played Hyrule Warriors yet? I want it, but I am skeptical.
    November 5 06:06 PM
  • Ecnalzen I know of Envy on the Coast, but I'm not sure if I have ever listened to them.
    November 5 01:32 PM
  • Ecnalzen Awesome! I'm really glad you like them. They have such a fascinating sound. And yeah, I have heard some Coheed resemblances while I have been listening to them over the past week or so, too. Gonna try out that Andrew McMahon album you suggested later today to see what I think of it.
    November 5 01:17 PM
  • JamieTwort Folk and ambient are easily two of my most listened to genres, probably my actual top 2 at the moment. Ambient is a wonderful genre when you find albums/artists that really click with you.
    November 4 04:55 PM
  • JamieTwort Oh really? That's surprising given how much more into folk you are than ambient. I definitely prefer Dragging to her new one. It was a bit of a grower for me so you might get into it more with repeated listens.
    November 4 01:53 PM
  • JamieTwort If you want more stuff that combines ambient, folk and ethereal vocals (but male vox this time) check out Benoit Pioulard - Hymnal. I'm not sure if I've ever rec'd you any of Benoit's stuff before but I'm almost positive you'd like him. Hymnal isn't my favourite of his but it's more centred on ambience than some of his others.
    November 4 12:31 PM
  • JamieTwort Yeah the ratings wipe was intentional. I decided that my ratings on here were such a mess (in the sense that they didn't reflect my current taste/opinions) that I might as well get them wiped and just re-rate stuff when/if I feel like it. I've been rating a lot of stuff on Rate Your Music so that'll probably end up being my main place for ratings.
    November 4 12:07 PM
  • JamieTwort Nice, yeah it's a lot different to her new one and not folky at all unlike a lot of her other stuff. You might actually prefer Dragging a Dead Deer... as it's much more folk-based but Alien Observer has always been my personal favourite.
    November 4 12:02 PM
  • thelastsignal sweet! let me know what you think! : )
    November 3 08:08 PM
  • Ecnalzen I've been getting into a decent amount of jazzy prog fusion type of stuff lately, so I was pretty much sold from the first song I heard.
    November 3 07:44 PM
  • Ecnalzen I'll try coming back to it further down the road. I have changed my mind about many a things by doing that before. Decide if Thank You Scientist was a band for you or not?
    November 3 06:46 PM
  • Ecnalzen Ha ha, sounds mysterious and maybe a little bit sexy. Sometimes, I like his voice on Captain, but then sometimes I don't. I like the way he sings better on his solo outing, but I still find his voice a bit grating in general.
    November 3 06:25 PM
  • Ecnalzen It's the guy that sings the majority of the time that bothers me. I like the other guy alright.
    November 3 06:06 PM
  • Ecnalzen Hmm... I don't know... I like it, and, at the same time, I don't. It just depends on if I could get used to his voice or not. If they had a different vocal style (or singer in general, possibly), I think I would be kind of in love with it, but his voice just takes me away from fully enjoying it.
    November 3 04:26 PM
  • CrimsonFloyd Hey man, check out my EP from 2013 univers-cicatrice.bandcamp.comIts been sitting around for over a year with no criticism or listens, a short review would do it some good.
    November 3 04:23 PM
  • thelastsignal I haven't heard it yet, but I would advise checking stolen youth.
    November 3 04:13 PM
  • Ecnalzen I went out of town for the weekend, and don't have a mobile really anything at the moment, so I haven't listened to the album since we were talking about them. I'll throw them on again here in a bit and see what happens!
    November 3 03:56 PM
  • Evreaia Sorry my friend, my pc broke down (the reason for my sudden inactivity), I will post some recs the moment I have a new one.
    November 3 07:12 AM
  • thelastsignal Yeah, it's a rotating schedule so it's different days pretty much every week lol. I am digging on Run the Jewels 2; very good stuff. Vince Staples' new mixtape Shyne Coldchain Vol. 2 is really great as well, he is probably my favorite rapper. It's been a ton of hip-hop lately, honestly. I know that's not in your wheelhouse lol.
    November 1 12:18 PM
  • JohnnyOnTheSpot thanks dude, that's my goal so it's cool to hear you think that
    October 31 08:03 PM
  • JohnnyOnTheSpot oh there's plenty of nice tracks on Ruins :) I don't usually bother with every single track in my reviews because I usually prefer the 'big picture' if that makes sense lol. I definitely want the listener to discover their own favourite tracks, assuming my review was interesting enough to pique some interest in the album.
    October 31 07:52 PM
  • JohnnyOnTheSpot Thanks, I can always improve though. You got any reviews in the works?
    October 31 06:29 PM
  • JohnnyOnTheSpot Yo man, I'd appreciate any input on my Grouper review if you're able to take a look
    October 31 06:21 PM
  • thelastsignal Thanks dude, I am a Network Support Specialist for a telecommunications company. It's a good company to work for, and now I am working four tens and it's second shift lol. I'm glad to hear that the new house is good, sucks that you don't have a working computer though.
    October 31 03:07 PM
  • thelastsignal I've been better than ever, my friend! Miss everyone here though, it's just been kind of a life reset that was necessary. Plus a new job and shift at work that's been kicking my ass. How are you dude?
    October 31 02:46 PM
  • thelastsignal Sup buddy?!
    October 31 02:29 PM
  • Ecnalzen i don't know if my opinion has changed, or it's because I have been drinking a bit, but I'm really starting to like this Captain, We're Sinking album.
    October 30 07:13 PM
  • Ecnalzen I listened to the first song from both today, and I preferred his vocals on the solo compared to with the band. The vocals were one of the deciding factors of me not really giving it (Captain, We're Sinking) the time of day originally, if I remember right. But, I did like them more this time around after giving the first song from Future is Canceled a full listen, tho.
    October 30 06:02 PM
  • Ecnalzen That's interesting. I don't really hear it, but I'm glad I don't, because I wouldn't like them near as much as I do if I did, ha ha. I like this first song from Barnett's album. You know, I remember trying out Captain, We're Sinking a long time ago and not thinking much of it. Maybe I will give them another go, too, since it's the same guy.
    October 30 05:15 PM
  • Ecnalzen Really? I hate the guy from PtV, ha ha. He's the main reason I don't like the band. It is a pretty strange combination, but I think they pull it off. Blues Pills is more accessible if you are still interested in trying them out, too. It's very rock/hard rock with a big blues influence and an incredible vocalist.
    October 30 04:39 PM
  • Ecnalzen SWEET. Do you hear some MCS in his voice? It's been a long time since I've listened to them, but it reminds me of the album I had of theirs with My Favorite Accident on it. Anyway, yeah, I just can't seem to get enough of the album. I heard it 2 or 3 times through before I bought it earlier this week, and I have still listened to it straight through at least once a day since then. I just haven't heard anything quite like it before.
    October 30 04:24 PM
  • manosg Nah not yet but it's gonna happen sooner or later. We've been together for 12 years now so it's a matter of us deciding to go for it.
    October 30 03:32 AM
  • manosg A ping pong table in the basement would be great indeed even though I've only played a couple of times lol. But yeah it's awesome to have a place that you can call yours. The house that I've been living the last few years is basically a summer house we used to visit with my family only for a couple of months every year. I always liked it but since I moved full time with my wife to be, I absolutely love it. But as you said, there's always something to do, something to fix or repair lol.
    October 29 03:19 PM
  • manosg Thanks man, I'm really glad that people enjoyed it. I wasn't in the mood to write a review lately so that was the main reason I made this list. How's life in the new house for you?
    October 29 02:55 PM
  • Evreaia What kind of style are you looking for? (the classical inspired in the vein of Musk Ox, Vali, etc..), The original Neofolk (Sol Invictus, Current 93, etc..), or the more metal like (Certain Ulver, Dornenreich, October Fall-albums)?
    October 25 06:41 AM
  • nononsense Yeah man, I think the bassist's voice compliments his beautifully.
    October 23 02:35 PM
  • nononsense Oh, man brilliant band. Outstanding vocals.
    October 23 01:29 PM
  • nononsense You heard the new Mallory Knox album yet? The link to the album stream is on the front page.
    October 23 12:32 PM
  • JohnnyOnTheSpot haha well I've been getting more features than I probably deserve but hey I won't complain if it's a Today is the Day album getting some recognitions. Cheers
    October 15 07:04 PM
  • JohnnyOnTheSpot Oh sweet thanks man, didn't have to.
    October 15 06:52 PM
  • JohnnyOnTheSpot cheers, glad you liked. too bad it's going unnoticed - killer band that deserves the recognition - but ah well.
    October 15 06:43 PM
  • JohnnyOnTheSpot Oh, no biggie man, whenever
    October 15 05:45 PM
  • JohnnyOnTheSpot Lol no prob. If you aren't busy it'd be sweet to get a bit of input on my latest rev :)
    October 15 05:18 PM
  • Artuma i can see that. and yeah dornenreich rules
    October 14 03:16 PM
  • Judio! Yeah I get that. Still haven't listened to the new one, but I guess I'm not expecting it to be on par with Saor or Panopticon or even Spectral Lore.
    October 14 02:51 PM
  • Artuma Pop Punk 18%, Black Metal 15% ...
    October 14 09:44 AM
  • SowingSeason But life happens too, so if you're anything like me that gets in the way of reviewing frequently. However, life is definitely more important than getting your flow back so you can write staff/contrib reviews haha
    October 13 03:42 PM
  • SowingSeason If I'm being honest, I haven't done more than skim your NFG review. But I'm sure it's better than you think. I was the same way this summer coming out of retirement, so to speak. I still question whether my reviews are as good as they used to be, but I know for a fact that I've gotten it back at least a little bit compared to my emeritus reviews (which in my opinion were just mediocre). Flow comes with practice, so the only way to get your flow back is to keep writing.
    October 13 03:41 PM
  • SowingSeason I get the whole writer's block thing though. It's so frustrating when I feel so much positively or negatively about something and just can't string the words together. I've had it go one of two ways - either I sat down and cranked it out until the words started flowing or I just gave up and waited for inspiration to strike. Usually the first one works better for me though because if I let it go I typically never end up writing about it at all.
    October 13 03:33 PM
  • SowingSeason Nah man you should review it anyway! Mine probably won't be up until later in the week anyway.
    October 13 03:31 PM
  • SowingSeason That's cool that you're reviewing it too. I look forward to reading your opinion on it, because right now I'm digging it, just not as much as EIT of course.
    October 13 03:17 PM
  • Gameofmetal Did my Caladan Brood review if you're curious.
    October 13 08:13 AM
  • Ecnalzen The one you suggested... Weeping World, I think. I found an album stream on Youtube. I have no idea what songs I listened to, but I liked it, ha ha.
    October 12 05:53 PM
  • ExplosiveOranges No problem, man. I feel like commas can really help the flow of a review, but, if used too often, then, they could end up seeming really annoying, as opposed to, say, helpful, or something like that, and try to avoid run-on sentences with commas, because they can end up being really long, and also, they're painful to read.
    October 12 12:02 PM
  • ExplosiveOranges Done.
    October 12 10:37 AM
  • ExplosiveOranges Dammit, I forgot to. I will when I'm not tired as **** and can actually proofread stuff, lol.
    October 12 05:50 AM
  • Ecnalzen Seeing your NFG review reminded me I needed to listen to Insomnium. This is some pretty good stuff right here.
    October 10 11:19 PM
  • evilford hell yeah dude...it's a non-stop rocker
    October 10 05:45 PM
  • Judio! I'll probably make a favorite twilight zones episode list at the end of the month. And thanks for the rec, will check it soon.
    October 10 01:11 PM
  • toxin. and the only tracks I heard were the released ones... Cecilia and the Satellite, High Dive, Canyon Moon, and See Her On the Weekend
    October 9 10:26 PM
  • toxin. mm i think i know what you mean! hopefully i agree with your evaluation. i'll probably have time on saturday to check it out, so i should have an opinion by then. my expectations are pretty high now though haha
    October 9 10:25 PM
  • Willie I liked it, but I didn't think it was anything special. It might take more listens.
    October 9 07:14 PM
  • Judio! pretty much just been revisiting the classics. Just watched The Masks...forgot how dark that episode is. Brilliant.
    October 9 01:30 PM
  • Judio! **** yeah dude! Rod Serling is probably one of the most awesome people ever to walk this Earth.
    October 9 01:07 PM
  • toxin. ooh that's great to hear, definitely gets me hyped! i haven't had a chance to listen... i really wanted to review it actually but i just have no time due to school and work. is it really like everything in transit though? EiT had so much youthful energy, while the released tracks from the new album seemed a little bit more mellow. i definitely didn't get an EiT vibe from those ones
    October 9 04:43 AM
  • CaptainDooRight right on bro, I hope you enjoy the others too
    October 8 05:15 PM
  • CaptainDooRight yeah bro it has its pros and cons. glad you liked it nonetheless. Yeah black gaze is a genre im still inquiring on myself. Heard a few but I'm interested in investigating it a bit more. The sub genres of bm have really taken off and I'm exciting about because I've always favored darker music filled with emotion since I was a child.
    October 8 02:39 PM
  • scottpilgrim10 Alright, I won't expect a 5 then lol
    October 7 06:53 PM
  • scottpilgrim10 sweet, I'll definitely listen to the new album in the next few days. It must be fantastic if it's as good as Weezer's first album. And I'll add their self titled onto my list of things to check out.
    October 7 06:17 PM
  • scottpilgrim10 I like Sticks and Stones, but I haven't really heard anything else.
    October 7 06:04 PM
  • scottpilgrim10 Are you going to write a review for the new nfg album?
    October 7 05:57 PM
  • evilford lol yeah leprosy is prob my fav death anymore, so good
    October 7 03:51 PM
  • ExplosiveOranges smh aaron why did you post in the community thread
    October 6 06:06 PM
  • SnakeDelilah Have you listened to the song? It's actually very refreshing for AvA tbh, especially that guitar tone. I'm very hopeful for this album, especially since Eddie has joined the band. Maybe AvA will move farther from the U2 spectrum and more towards being like Vheissu.
    October 6 04:29 PM
  • Gameofmetal Considering doing it next I think. Give me a day or two and it'll probably be on the homepage.
    October 6 03:43 PM
  • Gameofmetal Decided to review Set It Off's Cinematics after all. Check it out if you like. Still might go back and do Caladan Brood though....
    October 5 10:30 PM
  • Xar So smash is by far my fav 3DS game at this point. It's everything brawl should have been and ~more~
    October 5 01:36 PM
  • ExplosiveOranges Never really had a chance to get into it. Aren't they having a Halloween marathon or something like that coming up?
    October 4 11:52 AM
  • ExplosiveOranges Twilight Zone, eh?
    October 4 11:46 AM
  • Judio! I can definitely agree with that. It's actually probably the darkest neofolk album I've ever listened to haha, it really is special. Hopefully they'll begin to get more attention because they are obscure as **** right now.
    October 3 09:14 PM
  • Judio! Sweet rating for Life Era yo! Actually working on a review for that album right now.
    October 3 09:06 PM
  • SnakeDelilah it sounds like a watered down carbon copy of the blue album only with sum 41-esque vocals
    October 3 07:44 PM
  • SnakeDelilah this new gob album is terrible btw
    October 3 06:56 PM
