    September 2 09:59 AM
  • Spacesh1p Appreciate it man, glad all is well. I've been busy so commenting less and checking less stuff unfortunately. Saw Neurosis the other night though, that was excellent. Still on a hip hop binge?
    August 7 05:01 PM
  • Spacesh1p How you been dude? Hopefully doing big stuff while absent from Sput.
    August 6 10:11 PM
  • Dissonant Havent jammed that one yet, will check soon. Need to get Streetcleaner on vinyl
    August 5 11:56 PM
  • Dissonant For sure man! Houdini tho
    August 5 11:05 PM
  • Typhoon24 no worries, im going through an industrial phase and am listening to jams from the 60s, so spin whatever you please. if you have the time tho, i have a feeling you're gonna be 5'ing viktor vaughn lol
    August 3 10:41 PM
  • Typhoon24 good to have you back man! before the unheard wu albums, you should check out doom's vaudeville villain. for real! It's been about a month now where he's been my fav rapper
    August 3 10:33 PM
  • Relinquished nice dude great to read u staying busy. i'm slayin life as per usual. peeps treatin u like a celeb now and are wonderin where their brad pitt went.
    July 11 04:59 PM
  • Relinquished sup dude
    July 11 04:29 PM
  • Typhoon24 lemme know what u think of vaudeville villain, i was blown away haha. but yeah the thing about gang star is that they have too many good albums from different eras. if u like jazz and hip hop try guru's jazzmatazz
    July 6 12:10 PM
  • necropig ever tried this http://www.sputnikmusic.com/bands/Altar-and-Cartilage/20763/
    July 3 03:37 PM
  • Typhoon24  Hey long time no talk. Wanted to tell you that i think Mf doom might be the best rapper/persona. I made a list since you liked mm food. I am certain youd give my 1 a 5. http://www.sputnikmusic.com/list.php?memberid=1077413
    June 27 11:13 AM
  • Typhoon24 fav hip hop song atm
    June 8 01:15 AM
  • Typhoon24 i feel you, im studying for the bar which is no fun but managed to find this cool song through rowan. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h0boHcBFSR0idk how familiar you are with danny brown (he's a modern rapper but is 35 really modern? he struck gold late) but it's my fav song and a worth tribute
    June 8 01:14 AM
  • Typhoon24 listen to any good hip hop recently? been a while since we talked
    May 31 11:13 PM
  • Typhoon24 i mean 2010 for guru
    May 18 04:21 AM
  • Typhoon24 shower thoughts, ford, shower thoughts. or guru not dying in 03, pick one of the three
    May 18 04:20 AM
  • Typhoon24 oh i feel the same way. that hook ruins the song. always skip. still my favorite but sometimes I give the edge to atliens for being more consistent . I have a deceptive hypo: who would you rather bring back from the dead healthy and ready to jam? Pimp C or Chuck? keep in mind that the catch is that Metal continued to expand and thrive even after chuck's passing (at least much better than hip hop has since 2007).is that enough to steer us away from our personal connection to chuck all theseyears?
    May 18 04:19 AM
  • Typhoon24 haha dont worry, it took me about a year to stop exclusively listening to them and that was just as I got into death and deftones lol. Just last week I relistened to a gorillaz album I loved as a teen and it's been the only thing I can listen to. "Babylon" and da art of storytellin pt 2 might be my most listened to songs
    May 17 12:41 AM
  • Typhoon24 sure does lol. mine is prolly the same with gangstarr switched with ghost/raek or meth/red. I was expecting you to say black star since ur feelin' mos def's album
    May 14 11:38 PM
  • Typhoon24 also dj emcee duos like gangster count as duos and situations where you have 2 rappers and a dj like outkast count too
    May 14 02:46 AM
  • Typhoon24 im curious. gimme ur top 5/3 hip hop duos so far. btw ghost/raek count and method and red count since they released albums where they essentially were on every track together. also yeah like them other dudes said check out gravediggaz if you havent-- it's excellent and mid tempo
    May 14 02:45 AM
  • Typhoon24 feel free to savor it man. wu and kast are too infectious.
    May 8 11:26 PM
  • Typhoon24 but then again, outkast is my fav group of all time period all genres so i hope i dont have to wait too long to keep reccing stuff to ya :D
    May 8 10:54 PM
  • Typhoon24 I understand. took me 6 months to get off listening to outkast exclusively straight so maybe im overwhelming ya haha. but if you want the best album I think to check out next re krino, it would probably be the maven (of his recent stuff)
    May 8 10:53 PM
  • Typhoon24 phanthom's anthem is interesting because it's lyrical as hell, but more so funny and slow paced instead of fast and intense.
    May 8 10:22 PM
  • Typhoon24 grown man grind is on enter the iron trap. just two interesting songs by rino, no need to listen to the whole album unless you're about that life haha, even though both albums are good. this is ****ing krino, all of it is good.
    May 8 10:21 PM
  • Typhoon24 same here! all these fools thinking that love below was better need to reconsider their critical faculties. but yeah, if you look at the 90s andre's peaks were higher even though big boi was able to hold it down (i liked big boi stankonia a lot)
    May 8 10:17 PM
  • Typhoon24 ah i see. then dont see idlewild hahaha. it's kind of a soundtrack to a bad movie with one good song. ya my problems probably pale in comparison so we can spare each other details to keep the mood lively. yo i recommend you check out the song Grown Man Grind (equivalent of dad rap LOL) and Phantom's Anthem from Alien Baby by Krino if you haven't.
    May 8 10:15 PM
  • Typhoon24 hate on a playa but i always felt big boi was more consistent over the years, especially 00s. idlewild is like a 3 and the other is a 4 (big boi debut)
    May 8 10:12 PM
  • Typhoon24 yooo ford whats happening man? (i've got a super busy hell week and some visitors crashing at my place this weekend so it's been rough here on my end). it is worth checking out and i found myself liking a couple of songs. if u fiending for more outkast tho i recommend big boi's 2010 album. it's mainstream but very well done
    May 8 10:08 PM
  • dbizzles Thanks. Somehow I've found 2-3 bands (ISIS, Thou, Neurosis) in the last three months that have supreme catalogs at 4 each. Unbelievable. ISIS is ****ing fantastic, I hate that I slept on them for so long.
    May 7 02:51 AM
  • Hawks I see you're still hip hop binging but jam new Full of Hell when you can. m/
    May 5 03:09 PM
  • Typhoon24 mm food and ironman 4.5s? you da man jack
    May 3 03:37 AM
  • dbizzles I don't usually vibe with blind recs or whatever, but it's always good to explore a band when you know a user that cares about them a lot. m/m/m/
    May 2 12:57 AM
  • dbizzles **** yeah, man. Can't wait to hear it. Thanks. Sput has always been great for finding music, but over the last month or two you are one of a few users that has guided me into uncharted territory as far as metal goes and I can't express my appreciation enough. Slept on lots of established bands, but now I'm woke, fam. (Thought I'd slip that in since you finna be bumping hip hop for a bit lol)
    May 2 12:43 AM
  • Hawks Hahaha sweet bro, I'm gonna check it tonight.
    April 30 10:27 PM
  • frigyourgenre Blazing arrow is ****ing incredible
    April 30 07:16 PM
  • frigyourgenre Have you checked blackalicious yet?
    April 30 07:15 PM
  • frigyourgenre Hes a great rapper but his beats are hit and miss for me
    April 30 07:15 PM
  • Typhoon24 truth
    April 30 03:24 AM
  • Typhoon24 in the sense that I can't handle the pressure. I felt i should've been like burt reynolds or one smooth son of a bitch to pull off that combo. plus it was at an uncomfortable event haha
    April 30 03:21 AM
  • Typhoon24 I mean old can also mean badass haha, i smoke a cigar and drink a scotch and water maybe once a year. feels too manly haha
    April 30 03:13 AM
  • Typhoon24 current song to get in the moodhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=POU26j61LhE
    April 30 03:01 AM
  • Typhoon24 rip for real that was uncalled for lol. im dead. it's 2 am over there?once i put ridin dirty and roll this second sweet, ill get her back i promise on my own grave #RipBeerus. outkast is too friendly for the game now bruh
    April 30 02:59 AM
  • Typhoon24 just texted my wife "my oral illustration be like clitoral stimulation." got a "is that another way for saying average" AHHHHHHHGHHHHHHHHHH my souuuul
    April 30 02:46 AM
  • Typhoon24 plus u know in rap albums when they say "smoke one" or something like that? you're supposed to listen haha. most of 90s rap was recorded and listened to under the influence of cannabis (at a minimum). ****ing shame that ur in iowa but at least u have beer
    April 30 02:43 AM
  • Typhoon24 im usually pretty reserved but you could probably notice my comments on threads getting more ratchet/trolly. that's what happens when you're comfy and the zone and the ego inflates. 1st step is awareness
    April 30 02:40 AM
  • Typhoon24 when im home alone to in peace, after a blunt, a glass of cheep of red wine and southernplayalisticcadillacmuzik (the song) playing in thebackground, everything i say you, can true
    April 30 02:32 AM
  • Typhoon24 idk i think even heaven would be boring after the first 1000 years of getting everything i want and being stuck around family. plus eventually someone's gonna wanna kill another mother****er. prolly on day 1 too. god should've planned it out better
    April 30 02:24 AM
  • Typhoon24 yep. outkast ugk dj paul juicy j on the same song. probably not a heaven up there for me after talking down on that song
    April 30 02:15 AM
  • Typhoon24 I wonder if there's a heaven up there for people who dont pay for music
    April 30 02:13 AM
  • Jacquibim Yeah i did, a lot of my ratings were outdated and I didn't even remember anything from the albums so I thought "eh, start anew"
    April 30 02:00 AM
  • Typhoon24 and thanks for the pos haha, i wrote the article when i had a few beers after a long day and actually cried to how long can it last, so maybe it was skewed in its 'objectivity.' you dont have to cut off your pinky either ;)
    April 30 01:21 AM
  • Typhoon24 haha im just breakin' ur balls. ugk came into my life at just the right time so im eternally biased towards them and outkast. isn't it funny i dont like int'l players anthem even tho it has 3-6 co producing? i legitimately think it doesn't bang nor is it that interesting
    April 30 01:12 AM
  • 50iL Ah yes, fantastic pickup! Can't wait to have it. Good way to end the day too, so good night :D
    April 30 12:50 AM
  • 50iL Ayyyy this dude already accepted it and I already paid, ****ING sweet
    April 30 12:45 AM
  • Typhoon24 also did you make sure to read the correct review for UGK before checking it out? (lol) Even tho 4 is excellent it pains me still
    April 30 12:18 AM
  • Typhoon24 also before i forget, did you know chuck said he was into most types of music, just not hip hop? lol how do you feel about that? idk when he made the statement but it was prolly late 80s
    April 30 12:11 AM
  • Typhoon24 gkmc i liked more because i tend to prefer focused albums. imo the two most focused lyrical albums production wise are atliens and gza. kinda unfair but hey, atliens got a 4.3 and tpab got a 4.4 so haters gonna hate
    April 30 12:10 AM
  • Typhoon24 i dont like it lol im afraid to say. i dont like his lyrics. i appreciate his anger but i feel like it's uncontrolled, and not in a converge way where it seems like madness but is orchestrated. this is just a dense amalgamation of dense production and as many original topics kendrick couldn't think about. but hey it has a 4.4 and a lot of people who like the 90s like it so maybe im an outCast. get it? haha
    April 30 12:08 AM
  • Jacquibim Nigga don't you be holding a grudge; grudge rhymes with fudge and I like fudge. But if I eat too much fudge I get a pudge and then I can't budge.
    April 29 09:43 PM
  • FullOfSounds and yeah his production jobs are class
    April 29 09:42 PM
  • FullOfSounds I've only heard Damn and needta get to TPaB and good kid. his voice is pretty amazing imo, just love the vibes he gives off yknow?
    April 29 09:36 PM
  • FullOfSounds ye still very satisfied with damn
    April 29 09:33 PM
  • FullOfSounds It's just a meme now, it never dropped (would've liked it to tho)
    April 29 09:30 PM
  • Relinquished rorcal kehlvin collab record ascension. you need it.
    April 29 09:09 PM
  • necropig Cant win em all
    April 29 05:50 PM
  • necropig Have you never checked Fall of Efrafa?
    April 29 05:45 PM
  • hal1ax yo u might like this. decent hip hop album from 2015 --- https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ENn0V2VjNhs
    April 29 05:21 PM
  • frigyourgenre dude check blackalicious
    April 29 03:26 PM
  • Typhoon24 Just gonna follow that with a "yup2all"
    April 29 02:27 PM
  • Typhoon24 you're not an old head because A. you just started hip hop and are getting the best education imo (not biased obv) and B. you have more hope in the future than i do, you seemed slightly upset when i semi dissed kendrick. wait till u hear about what i have to say about earl sweatshirt who is also good lol
    April 29 01:41 PM
  • Typhoon24 exactly my position. but this begs the question, are we oldheads if we simply think one (or two generations) are the best? I mean avenged sevenfold's album was good but there' no way you could compare that to and justice for all... (keeping it mainstream metal). so how should we look at hip hop moving forward? kendrick danny brown freddie gibbs are nice, but that lyricism you mentioned is losing popularity quick, even in the underground.
    April 29 01:39 PM
  • Typhoon24 Haha he sounds exactly like his name suggests check. I like how ur listening to all kinds of hip hop, not just hardcore 90s. My problem is I love it so much that it's hard to appreciate certain beats and flows. Like yes public enemy has ridiculously good reviews for example (it takes a nation and foab check Wikipedia reception tab) and I thought it was substantive and had energy and I liked the politics, but it just wasn't JAMMIN? Feel me? Nowadays I'm afraid of meme rap.
    April 29 01:23 PM
  • Typhoon24 never heard. should i take him seriously? because his name would offend guru RIP
    April 29 12:53 PM
  • Typhoon24 spotify, even premium, doesn't have ugk's 2007 explicit (only clean) yet they have all these screwed and chopped and collaboration mix tapes. pimp would be rolling in the grave if he found out one of the biggest music databases/whatever was putting out clean versions of his songs only. been thinking of switching but they've pretty much got it all
    April 29 12:45 PM
  • Typhoon24 ya the moral side for me doesn't burn either of getting free songs because nowadays the richest stars aren't the most skilled or paid...so im like either get better rappers or im not buying albums any more. ill just listen to em for free or on spotify or get a jammin single if the artist doesnt care about albums (sad state of affairs). i think spotify's interface is better, even the free version, but ill spend time today exploring soulseek.
    April 29 12:44 PM
  • Typhoon24 sorry for the tmi on the last post, i just sent you a friend request on soulseek. how's its library overall?
    April 29 11:19 AM
  • Typhoon24 hmmmm, never heard. checking it out now. and yeah my album budget is pretty steep considering my wife things a 3 year old needs an (in my pov) expensive birthday party so thats less money on me. i dont care if these rich kids who moved in the bay with their tech jobs want to out piss contest the next man as to their kids' party, i was fine without a fancy birthday party at 3, and i think my daughter will too. she wont remember s***. just potluck with family and friends like normal people.
    April 29 11:18 AM
  • Typhoon24 drinking my coffee after a night of s***ty legal writing that made my morning. just the fact that you knew they were good (especially since thought drones isn't even on an album on sputnik). what do u use to listen to music, spotify? i'd be impressed if you bought all these hip hop albums
    April 29 10:44 AM
  • Typhoon24 also what're your favorite straight lyrical destruction songs by K-Rino that you'll feeeling rn? For me it's Spinal Vortex (2008, ok beat but lyrics are 10/10) and thought drones (2016, but it's funny how he destroys a trap beat you feel like they're two different genres). Are you still trying to fully absorb AotEM? that one had duality, sorceror's den, oblivion's scroll, epitome and the sorceror's den (which is a story that is explored in his subsequent albums all the way to 2016). too much lol
    April 29 06:07 AM
  • Typhoon24 Also I know that their sophomore album has a higher score but the debut was released 1997 (94-98 peak again) haha so it was harder to get known when wu was dropping a record and u were underground
    April 29 05:05 AM
  • Typhoon24 Thanks for peeping Jdilla and can ox since it was a crime for me not to sooner lol
    April 29 04:56 AM
  • Typhoon24 Hate to overkill the recs, but seeing your recent ratings I think you might like jedi mind tricks. Super lyrical 90s nation of islam/ violent/anti establishment s*** (debut album). Stoupe, the producer of jmt did the production on rip the jacker if you liked it. As a whole, it's clearly inspired by wutang with nonstop gritty lyrics (Like cold vein), but they still have a nice sound overall and are loved on the NE
    April 29 04:53 AM
  • Aiwaz I just found a sick band because of Neurosis bro. They had it as a Neurosis song but it's a song by Thirdmoon called Obsolete Scars. It's killer, check it out!
    April 28 07:06 PM
  • Typhoon24 94 to 98 were undeniably the peak hip hop years imo
    April 28 04:34 PM
  • Typhoon24 nowadays i dont have as much free time with the family and finally started playing guitar again. wont be covering see through dreams any time soon but im always glad to talk about what i do listen to. also i dont tend to listen to as much recent hip hop. mostly 90s. and the og ice t
    April 28 05:13 AM
  • Typhoon24 and shad is like a canadian rapper with the skills of wutang and mobb deep yet he doesnt swear and raps about positivity. i thought he made lupe fiasco look like a punk. plus he needs more love for being able to rhyme cleanly about real s***. tell me this flows aint nicehttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uQZ2g1s8e4s
    April 28 04:41 AM
  • Typhoon24 also it's super hard for me because i started listening to hip hop heavily in college which was like 10 years ago, so it's hard to remember the smaller or more mainstream (since i always liked underground) albums I listened to. I tend to only remember what I really like but I just rated a shad album and re-rated a trae the truth record i would listen to as much as z-ro's one album. (warning, trae is fast, but his songs are smooooooooth)--also pimp c feature on "Swang"
    April 28 04:40 AM
  • Typhoon24 Maybe haha but I'll try and rate more
    April 28 01:16 AM
  • Spacesh1p It's a ridiculous album but like metal, if you suspend disbelief, it's a fun as hell listen.
    April 27 11:25 PM
  • Spacesh1p I used to have it 5'd actually but I cleaned up my ratings a bit a couple months back and decided it wasn't worth that kind of statement lol.
    April 27 11:15 PM
  • Spacesh1p I spent most of high school and early college jamming basically just hip hop, so my affinity for metal that I show here is a kind of narrow slice of what I've listened to... haven't had a big hip hop binge in forever.
    April 27 11:13 PM
  • Spacesh1p Actually man I have a strong belief in the musical significance of that album. I could not know my history well enough to properly make this claim, but from what I know, that album popularized the style of rap production that's pretty much ubiquitous in hip hop today. Booming bass, ticking hi hat triplets, little to no regard for lyrics. Lex Luger's influence is everywhere.
    April 27 11:12 PM
  • Typhoon24 plus this is one of those cases where you see how having "late" production didn't get commercial or critical respect ...but as you'll see, daz isn't that much worse than early dre, he just did it 95, 1 year after biggie and nas debut. and now hip hop production is back in ny. Kurupt is interesting because he raps very lyrically and with a lot of wordplay but at 50% speed of ny rappers. smooth, clearly enunciated and very LA
    April 27 07:18 PM
  • Typhoon24 Potentially the smoothest rapper low key.
    April 27 06:48 PM
  • Typhoon24 Ok I'll give you a rec that has an average score rating. Most ive recced so far have been 4 or more, peep dogg food - dogg pound gangstas (Daz and Kurupt). Kurupt is a damn impressive emcee slept on even though he was famous with snoop
    April 27 06:47 PM
  • Typhoon24 funny thing is that she isn't into them at all. she only likes hey ya which makes me wanna cry more, but she puts up w/ way more bs from me than me from her so we're cool like that.
    April 27 03:16 PM
  • Typhoon24 that's how i was, but with weed and xanax in college. gf at the time, who is now wife made me choose between outkast and her and i said outkast. it made her laugh how quickly i answered and she realized it was a dumb ultimatum
    April 27 03:11 PM
  • Typhoon24 Slow down and go one band at a time and dig deep when u find something you like. Then also try and learn the history and the importance of region in hip hop. Equipped with all that and taking your time or switching between genres is always recommended. You still have about 1000 hours of outkast to listen to :S
    April 27 02:22 PM
  • Typhoon24 Think it might a been cube or maybe ice t?
    April 27 02:15 PM
  • Typhoon24 Word up 100% always easy to look down at another's flaws but harder to understand why they're flawed in the first place. And on the cool, zro might be g-emo with his lyrics but irl he's the coolest dude. Same with rino. My friend saw him in Austin and was shocked haha
    April 27 02:07 PM
  • Typhoon24 Haha its half persona half real. Both in a hell ghetto, homeless teen, hustler, then rapper. All because he stays in his hood. Remember when 3-2 (the first verse on ugk - one day) got killed at a gas station. Also zro has been in jail a couple of tkmes.sometimes I feel I'm just reading his diary and it's sad af. Also the ppl from his own hood think they have a right to his money so he packs a gun...but good luck getting a legal gun in texas as a black ex con? Vicious circle
    April 27 02:00 PM
  • deezer666 While youre on your hip hop s*** check Juggaknots- Clear Blue Skies. One of the GOATS yet somehow still slept on.
    April 27 01:57 PM
  • Typhoon24 And we've been dick riding death for months too lol
    April 27 01:52 PM
  • Typhoon24 Yeah the album is pretty depressive so he only raps fast a handful. This is more so bleak merciless yet he still heart type of southern raps where he literally sing the chorus. So funny hearing a straight up g say "Help me Please" in a vulnerable tone
    April 27 01:52 PM
  • Typhoon24 Ya I think I got a bullseye with krino but it's not hard to see why
    April 27 01:47 PM
  • Typhoon24 Likewise I love sharing and discussing music maybe so it ain't nothin
    April 27 01:46 PM
  • Typhoon24 Listen to mo city don. That's one of his best songs. Or talkin loud where he was featured on krino's time traveler album
    April 27 01:43 PM
  • Typhoon24 Also have you been feeling Z-Ro. That 2005 album had me in a state of mind
    April 27 01:28 PM
  • Keyblade he's dope bro. I don't listen to him nearly enough as I should
    April 27 01:10 PM
  • Typhoon24 the song full clip by gang starr. i think it's their most popular too
    April 27 11:24 AM
  • Typhoon24 for real. pure tragedy. gotta listen to full clip now haha just for that Primo "big l rest in peace"
    April 27 11:12 AM
  • Typhoon24 went to visit a friend and got gunned down in front of the house. they said the killer was tryna get him back for what his brother did or mistook him for his brother or whatever. killer ended up killed in more or less the same way he took out L. i would've been okay if it ended there, but i dug too deep one night and found an eye witness report stating that big L was crying/screaming in his final moments holding on to the locked gate that wouldn't let him run away.
    April 27 11:10 AM
  • Typhoon24 just listened to street struck again and got mad tingles. just hearing him (for the only time in the album) give out a positive message/cautionary warning and then reading up about how he went was earthshattering
    April 27 11:00 AM
  • Typhoon24 yeah pour one for biggie and pac. wait it's 8 am.....drink some orange juice nigga haha
    April 27 10:56 AM
  • Typhoon24 RIP. in hip hop, whose death was the saddest? odb was on some next level drug/jail s*** before he passed....big L dies exactly the way he tries to avoid in "Street struck" and pimp c and dj screw lost to ****ing codiene and promethazine...for me probably pimp c
    April 27 10:43 AM
  • Typhoon24 ya and odb's son was there and did a good impression of his old man on shame on a nigga
    April 27 10:37 AM
  • Typhoon24 the usuals, protect ya beck, wutang aint nothing to **** with, 7th chamber, shame on a nigga, triumph etc
    April 27 10:33 AM
  • Typhoon24 you know that you mention it, they only did wutang (not solo album) songs except for ice cream, which they managed to do without method haha
    April 27 10:32 AM
  • Typhoon24 wu in SF and method, red, snoop and cypress hill in concord, which is about an hour northeast of that if you take the train. i live equidistant from both venues so i went haha
    April 27 10:25 AM
  • Typhoon24 i think it's genetic too lol. btw i saw wu live 3 weeks ago ad they killed it. especially deck raek and ghostface. then i saw method and red 10 days ago and they didn't let up either. good to know that my fav generation can still perform
    April 27 10:19 AM
  • Typhoon24 funny how you like outkast, gangstarr and wu tang. i think earlier this year i did a top 20 fav rapper list and 3 stacks was one, gza 2 and guru 3. what are the odds of that haha
    April 27 10:07 AM
  • Typhoon24 you won't find better lyricism than k-rino, canibus and gza. also canibus' voice is perfect and k-rino's does its job. dont really care for gza's heavy brooklyn accent tho..what about you?
    April 27 09:54 AM
  • Typhoon24 yup. he's one of the few trying to push things forward while being original
    April 27 07:51 AM
  • Typhoon24 he's all right overall. humble dude, respects the craft. i dont think he's gonna save hip hop though lol, its best years are behind us
    April 27 07:37 AM
  • Rowan5215 this gang starr album is incredible thanks for putting me onto it. once you've finished your hip-hop odyssey please share with me your findings
    April 27 04:24 AM
  • Typhoon24 everything post 2006 is consistent. no mercy (1998) was also great but I think he wasn't as good in the 90s
    April 27 12:53 AM
  • Typhoon24 prolly around 70-80% of his songs
    April 27 12:49 AM
  • Typhoon24 oh dang i didn't notice that it was so close between some
    April 27 12:47 AM
  • Typhoon24 haha yea that's the k-rino effect. after hearing his bars all other rap seems a bit less impressive
    April 27 12:35 AM
  • LordePots Anything for u
    April 27 12:33 AM
  • Typhoon24 nah ive been meaning to though. I listened to slaughterhouse and liked it. def needs more love
    April 27 12:26 AM
  • BigPleb Not jammed for s couple of years so maybe it's time for me to go back!
    April 26 11:55 PM
  • BigPleb OutKast binge? They're pure gold.
    April 26 11:50 PM
  • BigPleb Not been on one of those for a while, the riffs always pull me back in lol
    April 26 11:46 PM
  • BigPleb Dude you gotta jam that new Artificial Brain, so so good.
    April 26 11:43 PM
  • DominionMM1 yeah man. check bloody kisses and october rust.
    April 26 11:27 PM
  • DominionMM1 dude you ever jam type o negative?
    April 26 11:20 PM
  • Typhoon24 i think it's because hiphop is about constant short-term gratification (I remember. each line is funny, real or interesting and it rhymes and the beats jam. metal (let me use black metal) can be more so trying to just make an atmosphere or express an emotion and it might take a while for it to be fun. and if ur not in the mood you just aren't
    April 26 12:51 AM
  • Typhoon24 they need to get some sociologists on this s***: A Treatise on the Correlation Between 90s hip hop and Metal. im damn sure it's not it's a demographics thing because i grew up in a mostly black low-income environment but still knew who metallica and megadeth were. "so why is it always one white dude?" lmao it would be funny to read
    April 25 11:29 PM
  • Typhoon24 to hip hop move
    April 25 11:10 PM
  • Typhoon24 btw dont mean to pry, but you're white, right? reason i ask is because as black 27 yr dude with an asian wife, living in the bay area with a pretty decent blend of friend/family race-wise, only one liked death metal, and he knew some hip hop. he was white lol. eventually he loved it and is one of the few people I can talk to about music outside sputnik. i wanted to give some context as to why i was so excited by your death (rip chuck) -
    April 25 10:59 PM
  • Typhoon24 And if you don't wanna leave the south (can is ny), peep "let the truth be told." Z-ro collaborates and was inspired by k-rino, and it's fair to say he surpassed his influence. It's a 5 and I'll fight any nigga who disagrees
    April 25 08:12 PM
  • Typhoon24 fk yeah I know you'd like K-Rino. My obvious next rec would be Canibus since he's a similarly lyrically-focused rapper. He isn't as consistent album-wise as Rino but he does have a few albums with top notch lyricism (K-Rino level) and the production is amazing. Check out "Rip The Jacker" and you might end up liking him more than Rino :) I love both
    April 25 06:04 PM
  • Hawks Yeah I've always known about him but never jammed, will get on that one too. m/
    April 24 12:02 AM
  • Frippertronics Saul Williams. Since you got your hip hop marathon going on.
    April 23 11:59 PM
  • Hawks **** yeah bro def gonna get on that one.
    April 23 11:56 PM
  • Frippertronics check niggy tardust
    April 23 11:55 PM
  • Typhoon24 move to cali if i never smoked pot in undergrad id be listening to who knows what. i technically was a metal fan first since i played bass since high school but I could never cover technical metal songs so idk if it counts haha. plus i only knew wintersun opeth metallica and megadeth well at the time
    April 23 11:26 PM
  • Typhoon24 Yeah kast was perfect because they evolved while expanding the genre every time...even if it wasn't always for the perfect. Southern playa through stankonia was when they earned the hip hop crown. I know u got beer but I hope to got u got weed when u jam these joints
    April 23 11:04 PM
  • Typhoon24 Take ur time just know typhoon24 is down to talk metal and hip hop and metal any time, just shoutbox. Have fun I'm gonna explore black metal soon
    April 23 10:51 PM
  • Typhoon24 Yeah most sputnikers are biased to the east or the west coast. The whole black metal group prolly loves mystic stylez. Neo always shoutouts ugk when is mentioned and says Houston is best region period, while I'll fight any nigga talkin down on outkast. They're like death to me. Glad ur hearing what the southern classics are too. Help you grasp the history
    April 23 10:50 PM
  • Typhoon24 Haha idk if /m works for hip hop, but as a southern brother that's cool with DM, I love seeing this renaissance happen. Definitely ride with you mayne. And you actually listen to our recs!! Evil for user of 2017
    April 23 10:43 PM
  • Typhoon24 you're the opposite of me i feel. i started with hip hop and found metal afterwards and you're the opposite so it's so curious to me. I wanna recommend Z-Ro - Let the Truth Be Told album as a starting point (when he was the houston ghetto rap king) and he's been consistent since then. I guess you could say he can sing better than K-rino, has better beats, and isn't too far behind lyrically. oh and he's way more popular and underrated. that album is an easy 5 imo. perfect for sad nights
    April 23 05:57 AM
  • Hovse Ur getting more into hiphop nice m/
    April 22 10:59 PM
  • Aiwaz Through Silver in Blood! Great album bro :)
    April 22 01:10 PM
  • Hawks Nice rating for Capital Punishment too lol. Get on The Chronic next!!
    April 22 11:30 AM

    April 22 04:55 AM
  • TheMrAlexK Yo try typing in the album name and nothing else, it just worked for me.
    April 22 12:31 AM
  • DrMaximus You should check Triple Six Mafia - Underground vol 1. Essential, and since you dig Mystic Stylez you'll def like it
    April 21 11:09 PM
  • hal1ax for sure. ya the southern stuff can take a while to get into. it's usually slower flows // more bass-oriented, and lyrically it's typically a lot more sleazy (women//drugs) lol. it's my favvvv
    April 21 10:55 PM
  • hal1ax also u might be into this --- https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hBQeQKh2q7k
    April 21 10:46 PM
  • hal1ax yea if u like southern sh1t like three 6 mafia // ugk, etc. u will most likely enjoy screw. the mixtape that that song i linked u belongs to is his best. called All Screwed Up.
    April 21 10:44 PM
  • hal1ax have u ever heard of the chopped n screwed style of hip hop? it's slowed // pitched down southern hip hop mostly, but it's tite. chekk --- https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K_h55O66uf0
    April 21 10:30 PM
  • Hawks You checked Mystic Stylez niceeeee.
    April 20 11:36 PM
  • Rowan5215 Aquemini is the album that introduced me to hip hop fam. Probably in my top 20 albums all time
    April 19 10:03 PM

  • Hawks I was just thinking to myself that I need to hear that one too, will check soon.
    April 19 12:28 AM
  • Hawks Been meaning to jam him too damn so much to check.
    April 18 11:18 PM
  • Hawks Yeah same feels good. m/ Jam Cunninlynguists too bro I'm jamming their debut now. Oneirology is a 5 for me though and Piece of Strange rules too.
    April 18 10:33 PM
  • Hawks Damn bro you got me on a hip hop binge lol.
    April 18 10:30 PM
  • Typhoon24 He used to speedball heroin and cocaine at the same time and martial arts and religion led him out of that life. I'm not religious nor would I ever speedball s*** but if it helped him it's cool with me. Idk if he's trump bad but I don't think so because civil war was not what you think (white conservative vs black liberal) and is actually cool
    April 18 02:18 AM
  • Typhoon24 if post '00 rap-metal makes you cringe, as it should, understandably, at least listen to "No Lives Matter" off Bloodlust. it's probably as good as the body count song on the Ice-T album. Hahahaha i know this is a lot to take in but the album's got well-known conservative dave mustaine on the opener called "civil war." I wonder how that song went...hehe
    April 18 02:02 AM
  • Typhoon24 wait bodycount started as all black but 2 died. race doesn't matter, they're more so about police brutality than black empowerment but the two kinda overlap
    April 18 01:42 AM
  • Typhoon24 oh and he also was about that whole gangster life before he got into music, unlike ice cube. talk about going places.
    April 18 01:40 AM
  • Typhoon24 this may sound ridiculous, but if you thought his "Body Count" song on Ice-T's album was good, then you definitely need to listen to Body Count's album they just released last month, "Bloodlust". it aint a classic (3.5 ish) but it's funny how Ice-T is Coco's husband, that dude from boston legal, the OG of Gangster rap, and part of an all black rap metal band that had a 5 star debut album accding to Allmusic. he's amazing haha. 40 million net worth aint shabby either?
    April 18 01:39 AM
  • famousghost check some good rap homie
    April 18 12:21 AM
  • Frippertronics just 1 the entire snoop dogg and hopsin discog and you'll get 5% at least
    April 18 12:17 AM
  • 50iL ****in great :) also don't forget Mystic Stylez by Three 6 Mafia. It's like hip-hop with BM-esque, dark lyrics about gang life
    April 18 12:06 AM
  • Hawks The Blueprint and Ghetto Fabolous also just popped into my mind. Lifestyles Ov Da Poor and Dangerous and The Pimp and Da Gangsta too, mentioned those before but they got cut off lol.
    April 17 11:52 PM
  • 50iL OMG YES Illmatic 5 :D don't forget A Tribe Called Quest
    April 17 11:51 PM
  • Hawks So many bro uhhh how about Doggy style, Me Against the World, Picture This, Soul Food, Midnight Marauders, Bow Down, E. 1999 Eternal, Doe or Die and Capital Punishment... That's what I can think off of the top of my head lol.
    April 17 11:41 PM
  • Frippertronics always at the cutting edge, mr. close-to-2112
    April 17 11:33 PM

    April 17 05:57 PM
  • oresttt oh wow. didn't even see your your dm. hm, fav album would be Fall of Efrafa - Inle.
    April 17 04:50 PM
  • Typhoon24 Their music isn't as eclectic as outkast but it's some of the most jamming s*** ever. The north might have the best emcees, but the south is just as good at music :)
    April 16 10:02 PM
  • Typhoon24 That's awesome. I consider outkast my fav group of all time across all genres (even more than Death :P). Idk if you're familiar with UGK, because outside of Ghostface and Raekwon, no duo comes closer to outkast. I miiight be a bit biased because I reviewed 2 of UGK's albums and gave 3 a 5 (same amount of 5s as outkast) I figure I'd recommend them.
    April 16 10:02 PM
  • Hawks Yeah bro I love Outkast, been a long time since I heard that one though I'm gonna have to get back on it.
    April 16 06:01 PM
  • Typhoon24 Seeing u are on a hip hop ratings run and that you fived my 2 fav albums (atliens and aquemini.) Keep up the good work! Also koopsta for sure. Ugk is pretty much as popular in the sput hip hop crowd as outkast so idk if they belong. Those fronting can eat a fick
