  • thelastsignal Yeah, it's also name your price on Deep Elm records if you'd like to go that route. :)
    March 25 01:11 AM
  • thelastsignal Thank you, I appreciate the praise; agree with you about the punctuation errors that plague the site. I loved this one, and definitely recommend it. Let me know what you think if you check it out.

  • thelastsignal Hey friend, was wondering if you minded checking out my most recent review. I'd like to get some feedback on it from users that I respect, so let me know if you have the time.

  • boredcore Didn't see yr post dude, but thanks for the welcome. I was an extra in one of DPU's videos that didn't get released funnily enough! ha. the old bassist is in a new band though called Brawlers who are like DPU but less grungy and more pop punk. check it out! recommend Instagram Famous.

    March 15 09:52 PM
  • Guzzo10 Or on "35" where the crashing drums, and the chaos of the chorus simulate the event that just occurred. There was just so much to like with this album.
    March 14 02:21 PM
  • Guzzo10 I like both a lot. I actually didn't enjoy Wildlife when it first came out, but after I got used to it I really enjoyed it. This album really does abandon just about every sound they had on Somewhere at the Bottom, but I was more prepared for this than I was with Wildlife. I just think that the band sounds so much more focused on a common goal here. They know how to make a subdued, sorrowful lead guitar line for a backdrop on tracks like the "Woman's" (My favs).
    March 14 02:20 PM
  • Guzzo10 Yeah, I'm really not understanding the hate the site is giving it. Well, not necessarily "Hate" per se, but not the praise I think it deserves. I actually felt pretty bad after I posted my review, because when I started on the review there was no other review. After I posted it I noticed we posted at like the same time. Really enjoyed your review though, sorry about the bump off :/. But there are like 4 sites that have posted reviews for this so far and they've all gave it high praise.
    March 14 01:28 AM
  • thelastsignal No worries, the review was very articulate. It's one of the best that I have read in while because it described the music well while still allowing for some personal interpretation.
    March 11 10:47 PM

    February 23 02:18 AM
  • laughingman22 Subrosa released one my favorite albums of 2013 so their live set was amazing, and I think deafheaven was more fun a second time.
    February 18 04:30 PM
  • laughingman22 Sweet, I super excited to hear it myself. Where you able to make it to the subrosa/deafheaven show?
    February 18 02:51 PM
  • Judio! Haha no problem. And thanks, I hope you like it! It has a higher rating than my EP on Sput so far so I think you'll dig.
    February 18 01:19 PM
  • omik1116 They created that 'wall of sound' thing you heard on 'Psalms' on like every song. "Middle Missing" is close to 6 minutes, and it just sounds massive. As strange an adjective as it is, this is the most soothing screamo record I've ever heard. This is now my unwinding album. "Shouldn't Have Used Black Magic," "Middle Missing," and "Letter to my Child" are my favorites. You're in for a treat.
    February 14 03:06 PM
  • omik1116 Just got an email from Flannel Gurl with a DL code for the Caution Children!
    February 14 01:45 PM
  • atrink Thanks man! Appreciate the kind words.
    February 14 01:03 AM
  • 2453 Only now I realize their homepage's dead. That EP had been a free download for ages man. Kinda disappointing. But well, at least you found it :D I have to say I'm pretty biased considering this EP. It has accompanied me on my listening journey since its release back in 2010 and I always came back to it since :D
    February 13 05:49 PM
  • 2453 Finally listened to A Great Big Pile of Leaves today. Pretty chill stuff, i can certainly dig it :D
    February 13 10:22 AM
  • mindleviticus haha sorry man i was pretty stoned. I just think Music For Airports is pretty overrated.
    February 12 06:21 PM
  • laughingman22 after one listen I like off minor more just because there seems to be more of those jazzy post rocky segments (or atleast I noticed it happening more), but I liked both a lot
    February 12 05:14 PM
  • mindleviticus lol Brian Eno Ambient 1: Music For Airports that album is so dated
    February 12 05:01 PM
  • laughingman22 I know, what is going on, I'm trying all these genres that I would not have touched with a ten foot pole a year ago
    February 12 04:58 PM
  • laughingman22 yeah off minor is my first taste of screamo/emo and I have to say I enjoy the heat death of the universe a lot more than I expected to. Just listened to saetia yesterday too
    February 12 04:40 PM
  • MusicTalent Same here, I haven't even listened to Team Sleep yet though
    February 12 03:57 PM
  • MusicTalent Did you listen to Crosses?
    February 12 03:31 PM

    February 10 10:08 PM
  • Judio! Wow, that is really cool! How does my album sound on cassette?
    February 10 09:58 PM
  • 2453 Listened to Heir a few seconds ago. It left me speechless.
    February 10 08:21 AM
  • spookynewghostfriend SKRAMZ
    February 9 10:56 AM
  • spookynewghostfriend i dont really skramz tbh
    February 9 10:44 AM
  • 2453 Native Wildlife is a band I really admire for their musical progress. No release sounds the same, yet still in it's own rights awesome. Their first EP for example sounded, at least to me, very reminiscent of bands like Defeater or Verse, while upping the atmosphere and catchiness by incorporating some pretty haunting lead lines.I in turn listened to Merchant Ships. What if pre-Wildlife Jordan Dreyer decided to front a midwest emo outfit partly inspired by greats like Saetia? Awesomeness ensues.
    February 9 07:32 AM
  • chemicalmarriage Cool cool, yeah he has a cool site up I see, Potsy also offered to put some music on a comp in the near future, if either of them use the music for anything I'm very cool with it. Surprising amount of support from the site tho. You dudes are pretty awesome
    February 8 11:55 PM
  • chemicalmarriage Killer man! I hope you dig some of it. If you have any jams online just let me know, I love to hear what users are up to. Thanks dude!
    February 8 11:40 PM
  • chemicalmarriage What's up man, and yep, I am.
    February 8 11:30 PM
  • 2453 This is what I could think of:1) Native Wildlife - "A Simple Life, A Quiet Mind" 2) Boxer/Eyes Wide "Split" (especially Boxers side) 3) Pacifica - "The Process of Illumination" EPYeah, I'll do, but you too! :D
    February 8 08:51 PM
  • 2453 Great, I'm going to give 'em a spin.Well, it could take a while for me to figure out some artists/records you're not aware of yet and could possibly like, as you have almost thrice as many ratings as me.But I'll try my hardest to give you some recs as soon as possible.
    February 8 08:11 PM
  • 2453 Thanks, dude, yours too! Which bands/records would you recommend, based on my taste?
    February 8 08:12 AM
  • MyLittlePenis yep, ill be listening and rating to more since my ratings got wiped and i dont feel like rating all the industrial albums i had again lol
    February 7 03:55 PM
  • MortimusPrime yes you 5d it!! yeah its a beautiful ep, its modern scream done perfect
    February 7 01:41 PM
  • MyLittlePenis not intentionally by any means, im just listening to sputnik artists
    February 7 08:22 AM
  • LordPots I shall do just that!
    February 6 08:04 PM
  • LordPots thanks bud. I might just download it off what.cd if its on there anyway, I liked to archive all the s*** I listen to
    February 6 07:52 PM
  • MortimusPrime my friend, I see your getting into much scream, I see you have listened to suis la lune - quiet pull the strings and now I must implore you to listen to their ep "heir". it is a short ep, which can be found on youtube and it is very very good.
    February 6 06:53 PM
  • YakNips Yeah I get you. I remember digging what I've heard of that band though.
    February 6 06:36 PM
  • YakNips Dude thanks so much for your purchase! I'll ship it out today hopefully
    February 6 04:44 PM
  • YakNips I believe I fixed it, but I'm not 100% positive. Try it now.
    February 6 02:07 PM
  • YakNips Okay, I understand why it's not working. I'll fix this as soon as I get home.
    February 6 01:54 PM
  • YakNips Bro, I have no idea why. They payment should go straight to my PayPal account, Idk man. I guess I'll make a new one, since there are some issues with mine currently, but I mean it says I can accept payment and I have done that for digital downloads in the last few days, so that is odd.
    February 6 01:48 PM
  • NocteDominum You should check my bong review
    February 5 04:32 AM
  • omik1116 Hey I saw you soundoff-ed Funeral Diner. Definitely check out Difference of Potential by them, too. The intro to Syncope is reason enough.
    February 4 10:09 PM
  • YakNips Yay :D I just want to help passionate artists out
    February 4 08:58 PM
  • laughingman22 I haven't bought tickets yet either because I just found out and I have no way to buy anything at the moment
    February 4 08:55 PM
  • YakNips I'd be happy to release whatever you make :)
    February 4 08:42 PM
  • YakNips Dude they are huge :3 Maybe I could do a split release with them. But yeah I understand if you'd rather go with them, since they're yknow.. better
    February 4 08:34 PM
  • laughingman22 sweet, also I am hoping to go to the deafheaven/subrosa show on the 16th. Have you made plans to go to that?
    February 4 08:27 PM
  • YakNips Lol I didn't know I had you on FB. What was the other label that contacted you? I must know who my enemies are
    February 4 08:23 PM
  • YakNips Wait a second... your Micah?
    February 4 08:13 PM
  • laughingman22 are you going to do the vocals?
    February 4 07:51 PM
  • laughingman22 wow everyone wants you. What type of music are you thinking of making
    February 4 07:20 PM
  • YakNips I'll definitely come up there if I ever go on tour :)
    February 4 06:46 PM
  • YakNips Nice! Id love to live in the state with legal weed :D I hope you guys get a band put together soon, I really dig your taste
    February 4 05:23 PM
  • YakNips Damn man, where you at now?
    February 4 05:04 PM
  • laughingman22 sweet lets make the hard jammers label the grow :D
    February 4 04:51 PM
  • YakNips Bro skramz with keys sounds badass. I play guitar, but I guess that Im not local to you probably :P
    February 4 04:31 PM
  • Judio! Oh sorry, I just saw your shoutbox post. Thanks for the support, I'm glad you like my stuff enough to buy it! Seriously made my day. I'll keep you posted if I release anything else.
    February 4 04:27 PM
  • laughingman22 also let me know if you put out any recordings, I saw you make a list awhile ago about starting a band
    February 4 04:24 PM
  • Judio! Thanks for your soundoff for my album, man. Means a lot :)
    February 4 04:23 PM
  • laughingman22 yeah yak is awesome. both him and judio supported me when I was nervous about sharing my music. I am planning to support the label as soon as I can get my credit card, and it would be awesome if you could buy a tape
    February 4 04:23 PM
  • laughingman22 thanks that means a lot coming from you
    February 4 04:15 PM
  • YakNips That's sweet man, what do you play? I always love user bands, maybe we could do like a split or something. But yeah definitely hit me up once you guys get going!
    February 4 03:34 PM
  • YakNips Hey man I heard you skramz pretty hard, you make any music of your own? I could always use more skramz for my label :)
    February 4 12:48 PM
  • StallionMang Yup, amazing album btw
    February 2 02:28 PM
  • MortimusPrime ah that's good then man I wish him the best of luck. and btw I see your getting into skramz, well done. funeral diner is very very good. especially "its good that me and you never met."
    February 2 02:13 PM
  • StallionMang Np m8, and yeah Nayru is fantastic, been jamming em a lot lately. If you need anymore recs, lemme know
    February 1 06:22 PM
  • StallionMang Oh definitely check their self-titled, it's a masterpiece of post-rock/screamo and totally essential. I'd also rec Funeral Diner - The Underdark, Suis La Lune - Heir, and Nayru - Recollections
    February 1 05:21 PM
  • StallionMang Sweet dude best of luck to you guys, and thanks! I've been getting into skramz recently too, and while I've heard quite a few albums, YakNips is the man you wanna go to for recs. He's way into the obscure side of skramz, and looking at your ratings you've pretty much listened to most of the essentials anyway. Have you heard of City of Caterpillar?
    February 1 03:59 PM
  • butchinette hey! thanks for the shoutout! do you have any recs for me? :)
    February 1 03:42 PM
  • StallionMang Hey bro I see you're getting into skramz, nice
    February 1 03:39 PM
  • omik1116 Haha yes I do: omik11303. That's my username for Deadformat and Vinyl Collective, too.
    February 1 02:01 PM
  • omik1116 That's sweet. They do seem like stand-up guys, and thats cool of them to appreciate your review. Mesa Verde is another one of my favorites, yes, and I, Robot's S/T 7" is a screamo classic. Another one worth checking out is definitely. Carrion Spring "A Short History of Decay". Let me know what you think!
    February 1 11:18 AM
  • omik1116 Man you're more dedicated than me. I just picked up the blue variant. Just wondering, have you ever listened to anything from Rinoa, Mesa Verde, or I, Robot?
    January 31 10:38 PM
  • omik1116 That new Caution Children song is so good! Especially that guitar at the end, I love it. Did you ever get a chance to pre-order the vinyl?
    January 31 10:01 PM
  • sramisetty Cheers for recommending AMDBL's Bloom, it's a great album.
    January 28 04:04 AM
  • omik1116 Alright sweet I'll keep an eye out!
    January 27 06:36 AM
  • spookynewghostfriend =^]!!! wow thx friend
    January 26 09:29 PM
  • Pagan Actually, you're right. I don't think Belus is a 4. Considering some of the other albums I have given 4s, Belus is no where near that.
    January 23 12:10 AM
  • omik1116 I ran across that 7" about three weeks ago. Really solid stuff. I had forgotten about it. sweetbabyjaysus has the BEST youtube channel. He rips all his videos straight from vinyl and he has some gems. My all-time favorite screamo album isn't from his channel, but if you're interested, go here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aDM8JXtAXO4
    January 22 08:17 PM
  • Pagan Hey I just saw your post on my shoutbox. Regarding Liber III: While it is certainly not their best work, I believe it fits in with the rest of the EPs quite well. The vocals and guitars are something I can imagine only BAN sounding like; for example, the song "II". I also appreciate it for the contrast it displays towards their other trilogies.
    January 22 07:24 PM
  • FindingEmo Thanks man! Maybe you can give me some recommendations on what to check out.
    January 22 01:59 PM
  • Mad. Make sure you check more Thumpermonkey brah, that EP's only the beginning
    January 22 02:58 AM
  • Sithese Thanks bro, it looks like we're on a pretty similar emo wavelength. Saetia's been one of my favorite albums for a long time now and I'm glad there are other people on this site that agree with me when I say it's brilliant.
    January 21 01:01 AM
  • NoSons Hey man! Just saw the shoutbox, thanks very much! Our music tastes are strikingly similar, thanks for the words on the review, I am trying my best to write as much as I can about music, used to review regularly on ultimate-guitar, now that college is almost over I want back into it!
    January 18 01:42 AM
  • mttgry hey man! i've been great, just a whole lot of work and not enough sputnik, how about you?
    January 14 11:01 PM
  • 1992 im already finding fantastic stuff
    January 13 11:02 AM
  • 1992 hi! i cant wait to learn more about music from this place :D
    January 13 08:18 AM
  • Vakarian12 ha, yeah. Just can't get into it, gave it a few listens and just don't see what's so appealing. Oh well, can't like everything!
    January 12 06:09 AM
  • Mad. I'm so happy someone found them! I think Sleep Furiously and Bring Me The Sun For Breakfast are their best albums, haven't heard the EP or first LP though.Perhaps some reviews are in order, eh?
    January 12 05:55 AM
  • skoopy48 Yeah it's too bad their vocalist was one of my favorites in the genre.
    January 12 02:49 AM
  • bloc Haha yeah man, it's terrible news. They're not too popular around here though sadly.
    January 11 07:11 PM
  • omik1116 I know, exactly. I loved Vacations, but its production was so hazy (a word I think fits for the album) so I just didnt know what to think of it. Honestly the song they just released was one of the best songs I've heard in a while. That instrumental part like 25 seconds in just pumps me up for some reason
    January 10 02:57 PM
  • TayBad Thank you very much SadAndHolyGlow.
    January 10 11:14 AM
  • omik1116 No problem. That new song is so epic, too. I'd been watching out for the new album for a couple months and I jumped on the pre-order right when it went up. Also I've been going back and checking out more of their discog. It's making me realize just how good of a band they are.
    January 10 06:56 AM
  • Kusangii No problemo! :)
    January 8 10:21 AM
  • Kusangii I see. Then I strongly recommend you to check out "Artifacts", by The End of All Reason, it's one of my favorite metal albums ever. Brutal, technical, complex, yet melodic. I honestly think it might very well be your type of thing. Definitely worth giving a shot at least!
    January 7 04:56 PM
  • Calc Id it so your honor is not totally sullied...you're welcome
    January 5 02:32 PM
  • Calc that's the wrong thing to say bud. but w/e sorry to offend you so severely lol
    January 5 02:31 PM
  • Calc lol I just don't care, you'll get over it, I'll get over it. In three days hopefully you'll forget any of this happened. I know I will. Then life will turn rosy again deal?
    January 5 12:25 PM
  • greg84 I dig both actually. Sharing Space ventures into this grand progressive spaces, and is incredibly diverse. But The New Normal seems more accessible and hook-laden. That's why it's more popular of the two.
    January 5 06:02 AM
  • Calc i'm sure you'll be fine dude.....
    January 5 03:38 AM
  • Calc cuz regardless i'ma express my opinion, be it naught or nice.
    January 5 02:22 AM
  • Calc delete it* my bad... and im very aware what it makes me look like :]
    January 5 01:55 AM
  • Calc twas a rhetorical question and no offense but I didn't wanna know your reasoning it still doesn't make any sense. I'm it on monday anyway
    January 5 01:33 AM
  • Brostep if nothing else then watch their videos, some of the best music videos out today
    January 4 10:50 PM
  • Brostep loving your current dig. did you back them on kickstarter? they sent backers their new album (stupid and weird) two weeks ago and it's pretty good. definitely a little weirder and less energetic than their previous stuff but I'm not sure if that's bad or good, so a tentative 3.5 from me
    January 4 10:40 PM
  • Deviant. It's gone, thanks for reporting!
    January 4 08:48 PM
  • Pheromone Yeah man, I mean for me I was never really anticipating it but for long term fans this had to be the most disappointing album to leave on (I think it was their final?)
    January 3 09:19 PM
  • Kusangii I'm honestly not even sure what my AOTY is for 2013 lol. Speaking of metal, do you enjoy tech-death?
    January 2 02:51 PM
  • laughingman22 I didn't know that. Where did you find dates for a denver concert
    December 28 02:09 AM
  • laughingman22 it's going pretty good, How are you doing?
    December 26 11:08 PM
  • Kusangii Pretty impressive, Times of Yore is such an awesome song. Rating might go up, gonna jam it soon again and decide after that. Probably not 4.5/5 material for me though.
    December 25 01:42 PM

  • MoosechriS Hey dude, my quincunx tape finally got here. Sounds awesome. Definately a punkish groove to things mixed with the black metal feel of the production. The production reminded me of some of the early vlad tepes demos ive been listening to recently. Good stuff
    December 23 11:35 AM
  • Willie I listened to it a few more times. It's good (not average), but it just doesn't catch my attention.

    December 18 01:38 AM

  • ethos tfw when you're shunned for trying to properly express yourself on a music/art website :" ( i would just laugh it off
    December 1 11:29 PM
  • ethos haha, yeah. man i find it so awesome how often you write out soundoffs for your ratings. gives a lot more insight on your taste//personality. pretty cool
    December 1 11:13 PM
  • ethos hate claiming stuff like that, don't feel as though anyone has the position to do so... but it's honestly how i view interpol's rapid decline - i guess for some people, a certain period or state of mind is the only place you can draw properly expressed and well thought out inspiration from. or just $$$$$$$
    December 1 04:24 PM
  • ethos i shouldn't make comparisons to a band's/artists previous work but it's just like ...wow lmao the charm that made them so distinct and fresh in the first place is undoubtedly gone. hate when bands purposely slab on lazy ideas because they're "still a band, and have to continue to create music" only to find themselves actually churning out poor ideas that have been recycled from their prime only 30x worse
    December 1 04:20 PM
  • YankeeDudel uhhhh ra huh ha haowwww
    November 30 07:30 PM
  • ethos it's one of the few albums i would give a 1 to if i had the opportunity (i don't give out 1s) that's how badly i feel as though they sold out on it. absolutely terrible compared to turn on the bright lights, i dont even understand how they're the same band. i can't finish it. i can't even get halfway through the album.
    November 30 06:38 PM
