  • ZippaThaRippa It was good as fvck! For the first time in a long time I didn't feel tremendous existential dread at the thought of working.

  • AngryLittleAlchemist Thanks. Its funny, I said I would leave multiple times in the past, and now that i haven't even leaved(I get on every once in a while about once a week) people are noticing my activity on the threads and telling me "don't leave". Its kind of funny. I really appreciate it. Even with all the support, I was thinking of leaving because I won't be taken seriously for a while and I have a lot to say about music. I appreciate it a lot dude :) youre cool

  • Spacesh1p Atmo BM dude check Drudkh, Paysage, Wolves in the Throne Room, Darkspace, Ash Borer and most stuff on the Atmospheric Black Metal YT channel. In my humble opinion Paysage is best for atmosphere, especially in those cold Chi City winds.

  • ZippaThaRippa I would ask either The Spirit (I know) or SitruK.
    October 16 11:18 AM
  • ZippaThaRippa I don't know what to tell you man. I generally don't listen to ambient bm so all of my recs would be extremely old and pedestrian. I like my riffs raw, fast and questionably racist. I would definitely check out Xothist if you haven't already. It's emotive, haunting and extremely well produced (in a manner of speaking).
    October 16 11:15 AM
  • FullOfSounds I'll give em a listen, thanks dude
    October 16 09:17 AM
  • theBoneyKing I don't actually jam a ton of bluegrass to be honest, though I do have a ~50-song Bill Monroe comp in my collection. Sweet stuff. Admittedly when it comes to country (and to be fair, music in general) I've heard mostly modern stuff and really need to educate myself more on the classics.
    October 16 01:36 AM
  • theBoneyKing Thanks for the kind words man! Yeah those genres just don't get the proper representation here and in the music community in general. I actually just finished up a review for American Band which will go live in the morning (or my morning; I have no idea where you're from lol). Sowing beat me to it but I felt I should have my say as well.

    October 12 05:42 PM
  • ZippaThaRippa Come jam buddy
    October 11 11:26 PM
  • Frippertronics pre I posted streams of them on my reviews, but the original Region can be identified by its song titles (76 ver: "Fool...The Falling Tower" v. 84 ver: "Fool" and "The Tower of Babel"). The Spell's original version, which only has like one minor difference at the end of "Elephants Never Die", isn't available digitally, but the version available is essentially the same. If you need to know more, just let me know.

  • evilford hey bro you should totally give plug a chance. really inviting layout even though it doesn't gather quite as many users as dub these days, but I'm trying to change that. https://plug.dj/hard-jammers
    October 6 01:22 AM
  • FullOfSounds Thank you so much for queuing Kiss the Anus of a Black Cat, this record is ****ing stellar.

    October 3 10:24 AM
  • LotusFlower hey thanks for plugging in VOLCANO in the dub today, this band rocks.

  • Ziguvan Agree. Amazing filmmaking going on in that trilogy, must say. Have you ever seen The Decalogue ? That must be epic, dude!
    March 30 07:27 PM
  • Ziguvan Appreciate it, dude. Never thought Robbe-Grillet could direct. Recently, I've been checking Kie?lowski's Trilogy of Colors. Great stuff.
    March 27 06:50 AM
  • Anthracks Finally got around to Ultimate Spinach. Behold and See is great, but I still prefer their first album.
    November 29 06:53 PM
  • hentaislut Hey I saw that you rec'd me a film called "Free Fall" last night and i just wanted to make sure it was the foreign one about the old woman that falls out of her apartment window??
    November 5 09:52 PM
  • Anthracks By Ultimate Spinach? I'm not near finished with listening to 1968 albums yet. I think I'm only at the letter C in my list of stuff. It'll probably be another month before I finish the year.
    October 20 10:20 AM
  • SachikoM I'm the only PE master around here fuccboi. No one listens to it (there's less than a handful of listeners on this site. That's why it flog it so much. Have you had a specific favourite?
    October 9 05:49 AM
  • SachikoM Did you ever listen to all that PE?
    October 9 05:12 AM
  • SachikoM Also, if you want to get into the genre, I made this list on my old account: http://www.sputnikmusic.com/list.php?memberid=985848
    September 2 05:47 AM
  • SachikoM I think I'm going to like you. :]
    September 2 05:43 AM
  • SachikoM Here's the recs babe: Brethren - Savage inequalities, Machismo - Severe Disconnect, Whitehouse - Bird Seed (if you want to know the classics), Genocide Organ - Leichenlinie, Pogrom - Liberal ****, Koufar - Lebanon for Lebanese. They're a good start (although they may not be the most accessible, if too harsh, I can give you some softer stuff).
    September 2 04:43 AM
  • ChoccyPhilly No problem, you all like it better than me anyway. Dornenreich is pretty sweet too by the way
    May 4 05:41 PM
  • OmairSh Riverside's brilliant for sure. I've heard Dan's Edge of Sanity stuff and his solo album. His Nightingale albums are on my to listen to list. He's brilliant from the stuff I've heard. New Nightingale album's coming out next year as well right?
    November 20 12:25 PM
  • OmairSh No worries dude, dam you have the most important three of their albums. I'd suggest listening to the albums chronologically. They're currently in the studio recording the follow up to Coal!! Album's release can't come sooner. Riverside's also working on new music. 2015 is shaping up to be delicious already.
    November 20 01:02 AM
  • OmairSh Fun fact, Leprous is also Ihsahn's live band since the vocalist/keyboardist is Ihsahn's brother in law.
    November 12 01:26 PM
  • OmairSh Hey porc I don't know you've already checked Leprous out, but Bilateral is one of the greatest and most diverse prog metal albums in history imo. Really worth checking out since you're a fan of the genre. Beware however, all of the band's albums take a while to properly digest, and Bilateral takes the longest. It took me around 5 or 6 listens to actually "get" it. Then it never stopped growing on me. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=986iAyQpr1U

  • SnakeDelilah who's the bird in your profile picture?

  • ohioprog Hey there! are you still planning on coming to the festival? Did you pledge your ticket yet?
    December 10 04:58 PM
  • ohioprog Awesome! Cheers!!
    November 1 03:15 PM
  • ohioprog Hello fellow Nightingale fan! Might be interested to hear that Nightingale return to the USA for OhioProg 2012!
    October 5 03:05 AM
  • jybt Lost in Thought is excellent, just picked up their album; noticed you had added them to this site when I rated it. Assimulate, Destroy plain SMOKES! An army of martyrs preparing to make one final stand against the forces of evil = 1,000,000 TIMES MORE METAL THAN YOU. The chorus riff can be heard over the Atlantis launch.
    July 12 07:35 PM
  • jybt Notice that since you've heard Power of Omens, I've put up reviews of both their albums. Don't miss...and Kekal is coming :)
    May 12 08:04 PM
  • jybt I've heard all nine Opeth albums and, at one time, owned six of them. I no longer enjoy their music, mostly for some quite extreme, disturbing lyrics. Listening to each of Deliverance and Ghost Reveries in their last listens felt like a demonic experience. I don't go for that, but nevertheless I won't discourage, disparage or hate Opeth. Orphaned Land, on their latest album, had quite some influence from Opeth. This is the only reviewing community that hates that album, so ignore them.
    December 18 04:21 PM
  • jybt Check out pretty much ANYONE I have an album rated 4 and higher of. :D
    December 18 02:32 PM
  • jybt Thanks! The three major bands I would recommend you hear IMMEDIATELY are Orphaned Land (prog/folk), Tourniquet (prog/tech thrash) and Circus Maximus (more prog, but very melodic and accessible). You may know these bands or just checked them out too, but that ratings gallery of yours isn't very full.
    December 17 10:22 PM
  • jybt I enjoy much of the same music, of course - prog and post-metal are the big ones. I upload very little music to YouTube, and only with permission, but I collect other people's uploads into album playlists on my channel: http://www.youtube.com/user/quadrupleplay Listen to whatever you want - plenty of review-worthy material here.
