  • avonbarksdale221 Sorry man totally spaced on your post, yeah man I just haven't synced it up to sputnik for some reason. Add me, you can have the honor of being my first friend on For some reason its always ****ing up my recent plays, like giving certain artists double the amount of plays than it does on iTunes.

  • Brostep been away from home for a little bit and it's one of about 3 or 4 albums I'm gonna dl when I get home, but if TMobo's given it the seal of approval it's probably quite good. I hear it's better than Swindle's Long Live the Jazz, and I loved that.

  • Guzzo10 I actually have a lot of favorites on that tape, but definitely my two favs are Shot You Down remix, and Heavenly Father. The final verse on Heavenly Father is definitely my favorite verse so far this year. Other recs from the tape are: West Savannah, Soliloquy, Brad Jordan and Webbie Flow. Is this your first time listening?

  • joomisy That's cool, that'd be kick ass to meet a sputnik user in real life. Wish I could see Tangerine Dream live, I've yet to a band live -__- (pathetic I know but I live in the middle of nowhere)
    September 20 09:44 AM
  • EaglesBecomeVultures sorry brother andy i think they're kinda wack =\
    September 19 11:19 PM
  • joomisy Haha yeah, thanks. Most of it is trance and futurepop esque stuff. My favorite is actually their latest one tbh, I really, really seemed to enjoy it
    September 19 01:39 PM

    August 22 09:35 PM
  • GnarlyShillelagh Sorry for the long ass posts, hope it helps and you enjoy some of those albums. lmk if you'd like me to clarify anything else, but yeah let me know what you think of those albums if you get the chance. I'd also recommend all the Wu-Tang albums but it doesn't seem like you're a fan, though they've been pretty good (although very obviously Wu-Tang so might not be your thing; none of them can even touch 36 Chambers and you have it 3.5'd so might not be your thing).Anyway, enjoy man!
    July 30 05:51 AM
  • GnarlyShillelagh He's very similar to Big Pun if Pun was white as hell and bats*** insane. Those are the main ones I think you'll enjoy, and then my other favorites that I didn't already mention are Freddie Gibbs (gangsta rap, Tupac worship in the very best of ways), The Doppelgangaz (straight boom bap, kind of darker New York hip hop), and 7 G.E.M.S. (Tragedy Khadafi, who I think is really underappreciated as a rapper. If you're a fan of Jedi Mind Tricks you'll probably enjoy this).
    July 30 05:48 AM
  • GnarlyShillelagh album but it's really nothing special, only slightly better than his last one. Chance the Rapper is a really really fun up and comer who I think you'll like a lot. Acid Rap is a really quick listen and it's hard not to enjoy his happy go lucky do-fun-s***-in-high-school style. If you're a fan of Papoose his new album is pretty good too, and I'd recommend the new R.A. the Rugged Man album. Dude has that legendary flow, although it sometimes gets old and the album is consistently pretty good.
    July 30 05:44 AM
  • GnarlyShillelagh =/ -- some of the other albums I think you'll dig are The Underachievers' tape, who are kind of similar to Flatbush. They have really great beats, and as lyricists they're not bad, even if their content gets old after a while. The new Joey Bada$$ tape is not bad, if you're a fan of him. His wordplay is generally pretty great ("I don't drink much, I know that the bud wiser"), although Summer Knights isn't as good as 1999, if you've heard that. If you're a fan of J. Cole you can check out his new
    July 30 05:40 AM
  • GnarlyShillelagh hey sorry, i saw your post while mobile and then forgot to respond when I got back to a computer. There hasn't been a whole lot of great hip hop this year but there have been a few quality albums. There are the big ones that you're probably aware of: Run the Jewels, Kanye, A$AP, Logic (although the new mixtape really just goes to show how one dimensional Logic really is - you're better off just listening to anything else he's ever made b/c this is much of the same). I think the albums that you'l

  • demigod! man i gotta check Tricky, everyone goes on about how great he is and i always feel like a fool for knowing nothing about him other than his name.
    July 1 10:46 PM
  • Brostep haha definitely check it out, it's worth your time
    July 1 10:00 PM
  • Brostep i give that song a solid 3.5/5 but there are so many 5/5 moments on the album that it kind of fades into obscurity
    July 1 07:59 PM
  • demigod! just got into btmi so i've been really jamming them hard. other than that lots of boards of canada, beulah, and idk a bunch of other stuff in between, whatever i'm in the mood for. Hopesfall right now. you?
    June 30 11:03 PM
  • SgtPepper I've been okay. How about you, man? Hope all is well. And thanks, I found it on google a while back. About NY, I haven't really brought it up with my parents yet. I'm still kind of wondering what it is I'm going to do, and where I'll go. So I don't really know what will happen to me, but I'm trying to plan out a trip to New York this summer and visit some friends, maybe you and I can hang out then, I'd love to meet you finally. Cheers, man. Good to hear from you.

  • PotsyTater "jumped outta mezz too? hmm" kinda like when you poured your heart out to me and then id facebook shortly after and you assumed it was because of you and how youve barely said a word to me since even though that was entirely not the case? you should stop making conclusions you're bad at it man. pretty sure my comment count is a pretty big indicator of how much of a time waster this site is for me and so is mezz and i wont stop wasting my time on either of them any other way.

    August 17 07:34 PM
  • jackalope11 Such a different vibe. A lot more people were there for the music and not just there to get high as hell. Better food, too. Coachella has the better stage setup, though. There's only one at Coachella, but there're two at Lolla and the set times don't vary too much with surrounding stages

  • MO man from what I've seen in debriefs it's just so intense over there. Basically we send people to wherever there is a humanitarian crisis, notably middle east and africa. In terms of elections, they include south america, africa, and asia. pretty much all over the place really.
    August 1 11:42 AM
  • theacademy ill come visit soon dude... going out of the country for a spell so it will not be for a few weeks, but the time will come for my great pilgrimage to bushwick
    July 31 04:29 PM
  • Rikardur That's dandy, indeed. I was a lurker during the hiatus of my presence, definitely. It was time to return and start anew, for sure. So yeah, I've been trying to reinsert myself into this fine community even though I am not doing a quaint job at it, of course.Good day to you, yes.
    July 31 02:43 PM

  • MO hey man, yea I actually do, it's also a Canadian NGO called CANADEM ( we actually have a section that does placements kind of similar to the ones provided by operationgroundswell, which are basically univ or college kids can fund their own program for a 6 month period and we try and connect them with a host organization/agency, it's cool stuff, fulfilling work as well

    June 28 02:08 AM
  • silentpotato the Love You Gotta Lose, Marks
    June 28 02:08 AM
  • TMobotron Word yeah well check out George FitzGerald's Child EP - kind of a slick house-ish listen, Mosca's Eva Mendes EP, Girl Unit's Club Rez, and if you're really jonesing for some electro check huoratron's album, or if you're looking for more minimal stuff check Claro Intelo's latest.Volor Flex'es My Story album from this year is streaming free and sounds totally like Burial (kind of a rip-off but also surprisingly great), so if you're really loving that you should give it a listen. Good luck man.
    June 28 12:34 AM
  • TMobotron Hey man, anything specific you're looking for? I'm really digging Untold's new EP, Mosca's Eva Mendes EP, Fantastic Mr. Fox's San'en EP, and Disclosure's The Face EP - I think all from this month, and I'm really falling in love with L-Vis 1990's Club Constructions which is just dirty and dancy as hell... There's been some more introspective LP releases this year but let me know what kind of stuff you're digging/looking for and I'll try to narrow it down.
    June 27 11:49 PM
  • Aids alternatively, i will go to coachella one day, hopefully....
    June 19 10:26 AM
  • Aids hey man. seeing as you love music festivals, and I go to Sasquatch every year, you should totally try to go one year, possibly 2013? I know you have limited time off and Sasquatch generally has weaker lineups, but it's worth considering because a. the best venue in the world, absolutely no contest b. I'll be there c. bungy will be there d. i'm trying to get Jash and his gf to come next year. anyway, consider it, it would be a ****ing sweet way to meet up.
    June 19 10:25 AM
  • greg84 Thanks a bunch bud.
    June 18 06:45 AM
  • Hyperion1001 i just started the reading Hyperion Cantos by dan simmons, its more sci fi but i've had a ton of people recommend it to me. i have scanners in right now and i think im gonna watch it soon, ill let you know how it is.
    June 17 10:56 PM
  • Hyperion1001 videodrome is sort of like a happy medium between dead ringers and the fly. it still has some of the weird effects and strange themes, but its less out there than the fly was. if you liked the viceral sexual themes and imagery in dead ringers you should enjoy videodrome. but the weirdness is what i like cronenberg for. i just watched the brood and i am amazed every time i see a new movie of his that he can come up with so many strange ideas.
    June 17 10:08 PM

    May 25 09:07 PM
  • robin i am unsure as to what you are referring to in the past, but i'll give it a listen. :)
    May 21 10:22 AM
  • mindleviticus Drift is good. I must say though I can hear a lot of post-dubstep/2 step garage influences here and I'm not really digging that
    May 21 01:28 AM
  • Shadow17 A couple of recs: DJ Sprinkles Midtown 120 Blues (Deep House), Fennesz (specifically Endless Summer and Venice), Shpongle (saw you listened to 1 album, these are great: Ineffable Mysteries From Shpongleland and Nothing Lasts), Stars Of The Lid (Tired Sounds and Decline), Tim Hecker (Ravedeath, Imaginary Country, Ultraviolet). I recommend just listening to a song or 2 per album. Want more recs? Feel free to ask. Also, I rate things highly quite easily, but check out any 5s
    May 20 07:24 AM

  • mindleviticus Certainly, You should totally listen to Marc Leclair's album "Musique Pour 3 Femmes Enceintes" it's bloody brilliant. It's like ambient, glitch and drone with some minimal techno influences Marc Leclair is also known as Akufen and Akufen's album "My Way" is also really good, very microhouse based music. I hope you have a great music experience =)

  • Kellerdeck I usually go on the site every night, and get people I know to check it out too. I bring a fair bit of traffic here, I guess. *shrugs*
    April 27 01:05 AM
  • Kellerdeck and, after hours of messaging people and rallying them up, we got our ratings back up. Music is one of the few things that can bring me the joy of knowing people are there in life.
    April 27 01:03 AM
  • Kellerdeck When we want them to read a review. That's why the view counts were so high. The music is also quite popular in our small town local scene. Over time and with dedication we've built a small but supportive fanbase. What you saw tonight was what I like to call the peoples opinion. I posted a status on the bands facebook page telling them to make an account on this site and vote for us and their favorite music because naysayers decided they didn't like it
    April 27 01:02 AM
  • Kellerdeck Hey Aekuneff, thanks for asking! It's not a problem at all, really. I've been using sputnik since early 2011. I would've been in My first semester of grade 10 when I started, I'm in My second half of grade 12 now. If you're wondering about the influx of votes that the album Rest has gotten, it's because I have this outlook on life, if people are going to hit Me, I'll get them right back. Sputnik, being like a second home for my band, is where we post all of our material and send all the fans

  • balcaen do you know what an analogical argument is? i guess you were implying one without coming to the conclusion where you said you could probably beat me. IT'S WEAK!
    April 4 08:44 PM
  • balcaen hm, were they stoned? how often did they play? have you won against them before? your analogical argument is missing some respects, entities...

    March 30 06:23 PM
  • MassiveAttack In a way I think both are disappointing for the fact they kind of wander a bit and almost in a derivative way scale back her aspirations. In Quixotic I can appreciate the diversity with lumbering mood, but The Blue God takes risk in a far more focused production. They both feel out of place for the majority of the time; still I prefer Quixotic.
    March 29 10:02 PM
  • MassiveAttack Quixotic
    March 29 09:59 PM
  • silentpotato uh have u ever heard dis;

  • Vesper Say hello to Conrad for me from a fellow Asian Sputniker. I don't think he knows me, though, other than the time we argued over whether Nicki Minaj was a successful parody of hip-hop culture or not, lol.
    March 27 02:01 PM
  • Vesper I actually can't anymore, because my boyfriend's family decided to fly me out to Minnesota for a few days, lol. And, yeah, my art blog:

    March 27 01:59 PM
  • Graveyard thanks ;)
    March 27 01:39 PM
  • MassiveAttack It felt too warped in its production, whereas it was like that in Maxinquaye, vocally she was much more seductive and piercing. Here I can barely understand her, it is disappointing.
    March 26 10:02 PM
  • MassiveAttack Finally listened to Blue God, its not what I expected. For one, the production seems to be overbearing on her vocals, like its muddled and overly focused within the album. Her voice isn't quite as alluring with that in play; I've heard her debut was amazing, so I'll check that out.
