  • RunOfTheMill Hey Jamie, I was wondering what your thoughts were on the new Vektor record, if you've checked it out yet.
    June 5 05:48 PM
  • TVC15 I just want to give you a massive thank you for reccing the Miles/Robert album. I've been listening to it nonstop all day and, unless your going to, I'm olanning on writing up a review for it to give it the recognition it deserves. I've already got an intro worked out whichh involves Spike Lee's movie Do the Right Thing and Nujabes lol
    May 30 12:58 AM
  • Frippertronics Just browsing around and saw that again. Don't worry, he's nowhere to be found.
    May 22 05:10 AM
  • Frippertronics Raaaah, my man must be deaf if he likes visions and not dis. This is way superior, man's gettin' vexed now; Rah. My man needs to re-listen; chattin' s*** when he clearly don't know what he is on about. Rah.
    May 22 05:01 AM
  • sailSAway Thanks a bunch. You were very thorough!
    April 29 01:34 AM
  • Atari Wrote a little track of the day blurb on Kevin Morby if u wanna check it out haha.
    April 23 12:55 PM
  • Atari yeah nothing beats Dylan so it's a dangerous comparison haha. His vocals sound like Dylan at times, but I think there are definitely enough differences musically to prevent it from being just another Dylan clone. still not sure how I feel about the whole album, but several songs are quite excellent. happy listening bro
    April 21 05:01 PM
  • Atari also, an interesting tidbit: he's the former bassist for Woods
    April 21 04:49 PM
  • Atari yeah I actually discovered it today as well per SowingSeason's list, but I immediately realized you'd probably dig it after hearing it. definitely some Dylan vibes going on, so just figured I'd mention it ;) Dorothy and Black Flowers are two initial standouts for me
    April 21 04:43 PM
  • Atari yo, check kevin morby - singing saw for something similar to Dylan/Tallest Man on Earth
    April 21 02:10 PM
  • FearThyEvil I guarantee that guy is a troll. If not, well then that's embarrassing. Either way, I appreciate the help in that thread. It's been me and him back and forth and I can't believe the s*** he's saying.
    April 17 04:50 AM
  • Atari ah, no rush man. you're just one of the only guys on this site I know who digs them so that's why I've been wondering haha. I think it's similar to the last tallest man on earth record in the fact that it's more expansive and accessible, but doesn't sacrifice their great songwriting
    April 5 02:48 PM
  • Atari so did you check the rest of that woods album? just curious how you think it stacks up to their other stuff, I might review it
    April 5 02:37 PM
  • Atari sweet man, hope you dig it. the full album is streaming too :]
    April 4 02:13 PM
  • Atari I actually wrote a blurb for the opening track on the new woods album on the staff track of the day blog that nobody reads if you wanna check it out haha. I'm loving the new one, gonna revisit their last few albums today
    April 4 01:16 PM
  • Atari I'm actually gonna have to revisit their last 2 albums, but I just figured I'd mention it because I remembered u digging them. Idk there's like subtle country and Latin influences so it's kinda different than their last one if I'm not mistaken
    April 3 07:28 PM
  • Atari This new woods album is pretty great man
    April 3 09:24 AM
  • BigHans Bro just one question, do you still dig the Rawk? Looks like you are totally into underground ambient/electronic/trip hop stuff. Wheres the WASP bro.
    April 2 07:55 PM
  • tempest-- I think you will rly like this record -- https://wwnbb.bandcamp.com/album/wwnbb-076-forget-me-not
    April 2 11:21 AM
  • RadicalEd I remember that you like "The Sea Swells A Bit", Check out the new Aidan Baker album "Dualism" which is pretty similar except it's themed around space instead of being themed around the sea.
    March 7 07:00 AM
  • Atari No problem haha. U mentioned u thought the songs I recommended sounded pleasant so I was just interested to hear what u thought of the rest of it if u get around to it. No rush or anything
    February 27 04:13 PM
  • Atari Hey man, did u ever get around to hearing the rest of that Somos album? Just curious ;)
    February 27 04:04 PM
  • blatho blatho.
    February 25 05:01 AM
  • Atari I think tracks 6-8 would be the best starting point for u. Opening track is nice but it's only 50 seconds lol
    February 20 01:09 PM
  • Atari Definitely curious to hear what u think if you check that new Somos. Hopefully my turnover comparison isn't too far off lol
    February 20 12:49 PM
  • Atari I do hope you go for it next time by the way, you're a fantastic writer
    February 15 05:07 PM
  • Atari I don't know about that haha, but thanks man I appreciate it :] honestly I think if more people had actually applied for staff I prolly wouldn't have made the cut
    February 15 04:53 PM
  • DoofusWainwright Ah cool, you'll be reviewing more frequently - will keep an eye out for your reviews
    February 14 08:02 AM
  • DoofusWainwright Thanks JT, any chance you'll get promoted in the promised second wave?
    February 14 06:38 AM
  • JohnnyOnTheSpot thx man. and if I see it I'll tell you
    February 13 07:32 AM
  • JohnnyOnTheSpot new Fodd Dod
    February 13 01:14 AM
  • Gyromania such a shame you didn't get a promotion tbh. out of the contribs you, johnny, and jac were the best candidates.
    February 12 01:58 PM
  • Boyproblems Ahem...Ebonics: 'American black English regarded as a language in its own right rather than as a dialect of standard English.'
    February 6 09:57 AM
  • Frippertronics *by saying ebonics and his idea of slang is stupid both in context and on paper means that all Brits are black - truly, decay is the future innovator of British innovations or whatever
    February 3 10:38 PM
  • Frippertronics no prob dude, did you know that by saying ebonics and his idea of slang means all Brits are black? I had zero clue, but now I know.
    February 3 08:08 PM
  • hal1ax have you listened to the new Roly Porter from this year? pretty dece ambient/drone/industrial from this year.
    February 3 05:47 PM
  • Frippertronics Raaaah, my man must be deaf if he likes visions and not dis. This is way superior, man's gettin' vexed now; Rah. My man needs to re-listen; chattin' s*** when he clearly don't know what he is on about. Rah.
    February 1 05:35 PM
  • RadicalEd Doing fine myself. It's actually a leak (which I didn't even realize until you asked because it has so many ratings on RYM already).
    January 31 01:47 PM
  • RadicalEd Hey dude, hope you're doing alright. Since you rated their last album quiet favorably I thought I'd remind you to check out the new "Quilt" LP, which is really good imo.
    January 31 03:23 AM
  • Atari totally fine man, I only offered because I remember you enjoyed the album. I'll see if I can come up with a decent blurb for it
    December 22 12:30 PM
  • Atari hey I dibbed the new tallest man on earth album but if you are interested in writing something for it you should just go for it. I've been quite busy, and I remember you enjoying his new one. of course if you don't want to that's completely fine too!
    December 21 05:32 PM
  • Jom Just putting a bug in your ear that your team will have a busy week. Shoutbox or e-mail me if you have any questions. Good luck and have fun!

    October 2 06:53 PM
  • LordePots damn son ur vanilla rating is 'ignant as fuk. sall good tho i still love u even tho hip hop is your glaring musical weak spot
    October 1 09:09 PM

    August 29 03:42 PM
  • Rowan5215 Yea one of his best, shame it never made it onto an album but it's uniqueness is what makes it so good for me
    August 22 06:57 AM
  • Rowan5215 have you ever heard this? It was the song that really made me realise he was a thinking, feeling person and not just a pen writing lyrics for David to sing. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pXn0RwGhUf4
    August 21 02:29 AM
  • Totengott Mezzanine is amazing, I listened to it twice and found it really enjoyable, then I started listening again a couple days later and it grew on me even more. It was pretty accessible for me. Once again thanks for your recommendations.
    August 1 08:38 AM
  • RadicalEd Yeah for sure, it's a luxury. Definitely one of the biggest upsides for me =D.
    July 25 04:10 AM
  • RadicalEd Fine. Getting ready for my exams which is a bit nerve wrecking, but I'll manage. Mostly studying and listening to music right now.
    July 25 03:54 AM
  • RadicalEd Hey Jamie, how you're doing these days. Have you ever heard of Patrick Watson. If not I'd recommend you check his new album. I think it may be up your alley. I'm really diggin it a lot lately.
    July 25 03:37 AM
  • Graveyard Since you like venn rain type of ambient stuff, I recommend you check out tanner garza. He's amazing and this is my favorite release by him atm. Listen to With a Heavy Heart: https://tannergarza.bandcamp.com/album/regret
    July 24 05:33 PM
  • Totengott I've wrote them all down, thanks again. I'm not going to lie, I've been checking Ulver's Facebook page multiple times everyday to see if they're selling the reissues.
    July 19 05:33 PM
  • Totengott Thanks a lot, I will check them out. Do you have Perdition City on vinyl by the way?
    July 19 05:06 PM
  • Totengott Yeah I can understand why. About the trip hop you also mentioned, do you have a few recommendations for me?
    July 19 04:46 PM
  • Totengott That Spirit album you told me about is absolutely amazing, thanks for showing me!
    July 19 04:14 PM
  • Graveyard Cool man and yea just take your time. Like I said before, if you have any questions regarding that album that might help with your review just let me know.
    July 19 01:23 PM
  • Graveyard I'll be releasing a small EP titled "Photography Shield" later this month or the beginning of the next. It'll sort of be an extension of "The Structure of Hidden Fire." Containing about 3 or 4 tracks. I think you'll like it.
    July 18 06:20 PM
  • Atari no worries man, yeah loud city song is amazing i thought about 4.5'ing it already but trying to give it more time to sink in haha. also really starting to enjoy yellow bell by jasmine guffond - especially lisa's opening and the title track
    July 6 12:41 PM
  • Frippertronics The Wall thread is beautiful good to see you walked in on it
    July 5 02:48 PM
  • Atari of the recs you gave me, i'm enjoying julia holter the most so far. her voice is beautiful and i love some of the brass instruments on loud city song. what's your favorite album by her?
    June 30 06:03 PM
  • Atari right on thanks, i appreciate it and will give those recs a shot! : ]
    June 30 03:59 PM
  • Atari hey man not sure if i asked you before but can you recommend me more stuff similar to grouper? i like grouper's folk and ambient stuff so anything similar to both would be sweet
    June 30 01:37 PM
  • Graveyard Awesome! If you have any questions regarding that album, just ask me.
    June 28 01:15 PM
  • Graveyard would be totally awesome if you could review the structure of hidden fire ;)
    June 28 12:09 PM
  • Frippertronics Sup, hope you know that Permission is a Decayingmajesty alt like the Grand account, who was ousted by his own older brother (although it's obvious that Permission is Decay because the godawful grammar/punctuation with random words and repeated phrases)
    June 27 02:03 PM
  • Permission Perhaps you are correct...perhaps indeed.
    June 27 11:40 AM
  • rockandmetaljunkie Thanks dude, cheers !!

  • rockandmetaljunkie https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6b2uuCk8Wj0 it's a bit all over the place considering the fact that I hadn't play this for 2-3 years, but i tried to do my best
    June 24 09:53 AM
  • Rowan5215 You should give him a shot dude - he's like the Australian Leonard Cohen. Has the same sort of deep rumbling voice (albeit with a lot more range than Cohen), same kind of expansive poetic writing (although relying far more on wit and violence than Cohen's sensitivity to emotion) and he hops from genre to genre expertly. Seriously one of my favourite discographies overall.
    June 23 03:52 AM
  • Rowan5215 will definitely buy when I have the chance. Are you into any Nick Cave?
    June 22 07:50 AM
  • Rowan5215 Yeah Avalanche, Dress Rehearsal Rag, Raincoat and Joan of Arc are all top-tier stuff. I haven't heard Room all the way through yet but Bird on a Wire is classic. I can't say I have, are they all collections of poetry?
    June 21 10:26 PM
  • SoccerRiot For sure, man. I feel like I'm one of the only people who doesn't like Wilson's solo stuff either. But it's one of the few times I actually agree with Anthony Fantano on something, which is that it feels too much like a textbook on prog music and not actually heartfelt and well-made prog music on its own. Pale Communion kinda felt the same way; too many nods to other bands and not enough of its own identity.
    June 21 12:25 PM
  • Rowan5215 One Of Us Cannot Be Wrong might be his best song ever but as an album I'd say Love and Hate personally, too good from start to finish. I'm Your Man is also terrific
    June 21 09:42 AM
  • Rowan5215 been obsessively listening over the last few nights, Famous Blue Raincoat at 4 in the morning is something special
    June 21 09:31 AM
  • SoccerRiot http://www.sputnikmusic.com/review/67486/Porcupine-Tree-The-Incident/ I've finally seen the light...

    June 17 12:59 PM
  • Grand Interesting... how are you good fellow?
    June 17 12:51 PM

    June 12 05:31 PM
  • rockandmetaljunkie Hey man, what's up ? I've been listening to Black Bombaim the last couple of days. I think you should review Far Out.

    April 8 07:46 AM
  • RadicalEd Yeah agreed. Btw, if you have time maybe check the review that I did today, would like to get some feedback.
    April 2 12:47 PM
  • RadicalEd It's the evolution of the third lp, more varied instrumentations, his voice is a lot smoother most of the time and the sound is more layered. I think it's great his songwriting is top notch as usual and I dig the overall sound. I could see some people disliking it because it's not "Wild Hunt pt.2"
    April 2 12:22 PM
  • RadicalEd Have you already checked "Dark bird is home"? It leaked yesterday! If so, what are your first impressions?
    April 2 03:40 AM
  • Snowdog808 I'm glad to know we share a kickass live Genesis vinyl Jamie. If you are interested, I'd love for you to post your favorite songs by progressive metal's big three on my new list.
    March 28 12:11 AM
  • ExplosiveOranges Sad but true. Also, love the new profile pic.
    March 27 07:46 PM
  • Frippertronics oh damn rip in pepperoni JT's chance of making it past this round, also this match against Chan is gonna be real close
    March 26 09:46 PM
  • ExplosiveOranges Goddammit Jamie, you're a total broseph, but you and I both know that nobody can defeat Jombomb.com.
    March 26 09:37 PM
  • Snowdog808 Hi again Jamie. I hope you are having a nice month. I just found the vinyl version of Too Old to Rock n Roll: Too Young to Die six days ago. You may like some of the others I obtained lately on my recent list.
    March 25 09:22 PM
  • Frippertronics haha man thanks, though I've not really been paying much attention to the thing besides the occasion check-up, I'm surprised I even made it.

    March 16 04:57 PM
  • Atari dude, i have 4 tull vinyls already! even scored a used copy of taab with the newspaper that you told me about. for some reason jethro tull records are a lot cheaper at my record store than most popular bands so i pretty much bought out all their tull
    March 16 02:56 PM
  • CaptainDooRight everytime i hit submit it errors and goes back to the list start page, so annoying, i already talked to mods about it and they said everything is fine
    March 16 10:21 AM
  • Rowan5215 good convo there
    March 16 12:43 AM
  • RadicalEd I'm pretty much on the same page about lesser known prog, but I think that this one is up there.
    March 15 11:27 AM
  • RadicalEd You like good prog, so I figure you'll like this good prog album. It's a bit hard to swallow at first because it's in portuguese, but I think it's very good overall.
    March 15 11:18 AM
  • RadicalEd Hey jamie, have you listened to that Jose Cid album (10.000 anos?)
    March 15 11:12 AM

  • JohnnyOnTheSpot have you checked the new biosphere / deathprod collab by any chance?
    March 14 08:42 AM
  • CaptainDooRight how do you make lists on this site, doesn't work anymore
    March 13 12:16 PM
  • Cygnatti I'm glad you dig it. The rest if the album is just as good, tho generally more subtle. Personally, mother sky has never done anything for me but I have been rather neglectful of it. so I we both got some listening to do, eh.
    March 11 07:27 PM
  • Cygnatti i think you'd really appreciate this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_4eXMRPKy50
    March 11 10:30 AM
  • Torontonian been listening to that Spirit album so hard lately. Definetly see why you love it so much. THat album really should be on every RockNRoll fans essential listening list.
    March 10 11:28 PM
  • RadicalEd Nice, I'm stoked to read your thoughts on that one. Already rec'd it to some guys, but a proper review will help increasing the profile for sure.
    March 7 04:56 PM
  • RadicalEd RR Variation is definitely one of the best tracks of 2015 so far.
    March 6 01:54 AM
  • RadicalEd Yeah it's great. I just love the atmosphere.
    March 6 01:50 AM
  • RadicalEd Just stumbled upon that Yasmin Guffond album, pretty sweet huh?
    March 5 02:12 PM
  • Rowan5215 Can't say I have, I've heard no 2015 stuff really except Bjork which obviously was fantastic. Will check thanks
    March 1 04:12 AM
  • Rowan5215 Veedon Fleece is even better man, I'm 100% sure you'd love it. It's like Roy Harper's best stuff with Jeff Buckley on vocals (best approximation I can give). Also, got any recent recommendations for me?
    March 1 03:36 AM
  • Rowan5215 are you into Van Morrison bruh
    March 1 03:16 AM

    February 20 08:18 AM
  • ExplosiveOranges You got demoted? Damn, that sucks. Hope the staff reinstate your position.
    February 8 05:20 PM
  • JohnnyOnTheSpot cheers. you might dig my current dig too come to think of it... maybe. very sparse ambient with some varied instruments.
    February 7 03:08 PM
  • JohnnyOnTheSpot woa, i'm surprised you got the cut. hopefully they reconsider it - you were easily one of the better contribs in all honesty
    February 7 02:46 PM

  • CaptainDooRight check Sean McCann - Ten Impressions For Piano And Strings
    January 26 05:05 PM
  • CaptainDooRight Yeah i thought that Gazpacho album was weak too. I've been way into ambient lately bro
    January 21 04:27 PM

    January 9 07:39 AM
  • RadicalEd I checked Orcas - Yearling, because it was pretty high on your list and it's amazing =)
    January 9 03:34 AM
  • JohnnyOnTheSpot apparently it's leaked but idk. I'll probably review it if no one else bites
    January 8 11:18 AM
  • JohnnyOnTheSpot yeah i bet, haven't heard gimu's latest yet tbh. are you excited for the new jefre cantu-ledesma?
    January 8 11:13 AM
  • JohnnyOnTheSpot this leonardo rosado - "adrift" is probably my drone aoty, might be up your alley too
    January 8 11:07 AM
  • Cygnatti Honestly don't know why I didn't think of it sooner but try Jon Hopkins - Immunity. It's probably my favorite house record by a long shot (it happens to be idm too). It's very spacious with plenty of ambient so I think there's at least a good chance that you'd enjoy it.
    January 6 08:35 PM
  • Cygnatti hmm, try yor - lack of being. on of my favorites of 2014, but i'll try to find a few more you might dig later. bit busy for now.
    January 5 04:56 PM
  • Cygnatti just curious, but i take it that you're too big on house music, eh?
    January 5 02:51 PM
  • Wizard Have you ever given Nadja a try? They're dark, droning doom with a huge emphasis on melody. Touched, Body Cage and Radiance in Shadows are all a good start. New Agalloch is pretty dark as well if you haven't given that it's due spins.
    January 4 06:47 PM
  • Wizard New Dawnbringer 'Night of the Hammer' and Slough Feg's 'Digital Resistance' are modern NWOBHM essentials in my opinion. I have no idea why I forgot about them but I will change that on my list.
    January 4 11:31 AM
  • Snowdog808 Happy New Year Jamie! Thanks for being an awesome user to me throughout 2014. I recently bumped up A Passion Play a half point after several listens to my copy. I seriously think it's a beyond worthy successor to Thick as a Brick.

  • Titan You really should review Made In Japan. The passion you have for that record is second to none. I'd be interested in that for sure, especially because I don't quite hail it the way the rest of you guys do.
    December 17 08:18 AM
  • rockandmetaljunkie Yeah, I wasn't here so I couldn't know. :P
    December 16 05:08 PM
  • rockandmetaljunkie Hey Jamie what's up ? I was checking your reviewing list and I think there are some missing reviews. I'm quite sure "We Want Moore" wasn't your first one. I think you had reviewed VH II and a couple of others.
