 | MisterTornado yeah exactly, it's difficult to pinpoint. feel like it can only grow on you. you thinking about reviewing it?
 | MisterTornado i feel like a rag doll whore. it's really interesting, weird mix of sound collage, field recordings, orchestral sweeps, and pop structures. dean blunt is something else.
 | MisterTornado =[ it cut off my message.... and DJ Smokey - Guerilla Warfare, 2 Mounts - Sycamore, Memorex Dawn - Galleria, HNNY - Yearning, and ADR - Chunky Monkey.
 | MisterTornado C H E C K O U T - Jefre Cantu-Ledesma - Devotion, Mark Templeton - Jealous Heart, Benoit Pioulard - Hymnal, Livetune - Re:Dial, Dirty Beaches - Drifters / Love Is The Devil, Slim Guerilla

 | klap going off to college and it's like i don't even know you anymore *single tear rolls down cheek*
 | klap lol AP tests you don't have to study for those
 | klap hey review vampire weekend i'm swamped
 | Romulus sorry late response but that's a very fair criticism.. most people who critique the book go the opposite way and say it starts slow. i'm just a sucker for fitzgerald's prose so he could write about a shoe and i'd call it the best thing ever, but his plots are often disjointed/basic/nonexistent so fair game. have you read any of his other work?
 | Romulus "first like four chapters of gatsby are pretty incredible to me and then the rest is "good"" explain yourself you monster
 | theacademy i did for four glorious years but sadly i have moved :(... i do believe conrad is up there tho
 | Omaha I take it you don't care for the .1 increments?
 | gabethepiratesquid oh and soulja's verse was one of my favorite part of the album. i'm pretty sure it had like 10 different words in it.
 | gabethepiratesquid it's pretty trash. the best songs are Gunwalk and Trippy (juicy j tha pill saint blesses everything he touches and gudda even manages to not make gunwalk worse which is the most anyone can hope from him), and rich as ****/bitches love me are kinda nice to listen to and Gunplay's verse on Beat the s*** makes up for the hook that made me puke up my small intestines. the intro is interesting. and Hello is hilarious
 | kingsoby1 i really wanted to like black radio based on the players. but they just really found a way to dissuade the boner nahmean
 | kingsoby1 it feels like elevator music tbh, really smooth/tame/boring jazz. bilal's writing is a lot better, but pulls more from more interesting genres (pop, R
 | fromtheinside you just ruined every chevelle song for me. no i have to restart music
 | NigelH Lovin these hip hop reviews man. Great idea, great reads.
 | Tyrael Congrats on the promotion, well deserved!
 | Voivod Congratulations on the promotion :-D
 | andcas congrats on the promotion. no joke right back atcha.
 | Gyromania i think i speak for pretty much everyone when i say you deserved this promotion most. congrats man
 | Xenophanes Well it was a surprise to me too haha. A couple of us thought to give you a trial time because even you have to admit that you weren't the most active contributor. But you seem like a cool dude who could readily step up to the plate. So like I said, I look forward to seeing what you can bring to the position!
 | Xenophanes You can send Robin and I's thank you letters in the mail lol. All joking aside I hope to see a lot from you because you're a stand up writer with a great style. Congrats.
 | pianotuna i just want us to do the fabled collab
 | pianotuna one day we're gonna collab on the 33 1/3 book for Change
 | plane Life happened. Sputbug
 | taylormemer I just wanted to give a quick shout to commend your write-ups, which, out of all those who contributed, were easily the best. Well done.
 | Deviant. Oh s*** I didn't even see that either haha. Changed it
 | 666Micrograms ya Fell Voices' first LP has terrible recording quality. Well not terrible, its actually very layered, but still raw as all hell
 | klap thoroughly enjoying the new tame impala
 | breakingthefragile Hell yeah I do. That is seriously the most impressive debut album this year in my opinion. Easily my favorite female R
 | breakingthefragile Okay so, I guess what I was saying is to recognize the difference between not liking something because of personal taste and not liking something for logical reasons? Like, I don't like the Beatles, and the only reason I don't like the Beatles isn't because of any flaws in the music, it's just because it's not my style of music, it doesn't appeal to me and my personal tastes. It's not like I have any real criticisms of it, so I'll go beyond my personal bias to rate it accordingly.
 | pianotuna we still need to do our collab dismemberment plan review
 | gabethepiratesquid omg thanks a ton for the Miguel rec. I'm loving these EPs. I never even really listened to him much before this.
 | Yotimi I assume you've heard this but just in case: The Go-Betweens - 16 Lovers Lane. I get a Prefab Sprout vibe each time I listen to it (especially the song "Streets of Your Town") so I thought I'd rec it to you.
 | andcas check out katy perry's new music video for 'part of me.' pretty cool song/video.
 | pianotuna rec me hugely loveable s*** i want to love music again beyond just listenign to the same stuff over and over again. make me a playlist or something.
 | aokuneff http://www.csschurch.org/?page=calendar

 | Tyrael Oh please please please write a negative review of the new Of Montreal
 | pianotuna super fast response: i have, you jerk. do you think i wouldnt listen to a band who okkervil river covered i mean really. also: what's up with you?
 | klap by the way finally heard that real estate record really good
 | klap yeah they are one of my sister's favorite bands so i've been listening to them since i was in elementary school lol. classic stuff
 | gabethepiratesquid OHs*** son I forgot. If you like Main Attrakionz, you need to listen to one of the members' new solo mixtape. MondreM.A.N - M A N http://dreamcollabo.com/ (download) The first two tracks are kind of weak but the rest is soooo good. Definitely one of my favorite Green OVA releases. Just listen to Surprise http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QBGNdzXhPyk
 | gabethepiratesquid Yeaaaa boi. Camp Lo is great and Uptown Saturday Night is probably THE jazz rap record. Too bad everything they released after it sucked.
 | qwe3 yo i remember you saying you liked beats wif floots in them dunno how much TI youve heard but http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tjjDDEJB-JU
 | pizzamachine http://gotupload.com/sv4wbv1p8f7x This should probably still work.
 | Romulus THERE'S NOT ENOUGH ROOM IN THIS TOWN FOR BOTH OF US ELMO
 | gabethepiratesquid Yeah, it's really good. You should also check out Cocaine 80s' mixtape this year and The-Dream's new mixtape under his real name "Terius Nash", it's called 1977. Really good, he produced it all himself.
 | SamJPassion Just joined this site and already looked through hundreds of bands / artists. Just wanted to say, I see your posts, on almost every artist I look into, lol.
 | gabethepiratesquid Ay yo, you need to check out Trey Songz latest mixtape "Anticipation 2". He gets a lot of influence from Drizzy with the atmsopheric, synthy production and almost like his melodies but with a Trey touch. Pretty good stuff.
 | Xenophanes http://www.facebook.com/groups/162548580510089/Here, this may work better, so no one is forcibly friended and whatnot.
 | Xenophanes So apparently the Contributors need to begin thinking about the User's End of the Year list. Deviant. is heading the whole thing, but we as a group need to get together to get it all organized. A Facebook group/thread was suggested, and would give us a great medium to work together. I realize privacy is a big issue, so if you would like, we could figure something out via e-mail or what have you. Thank you!
 | pianotuna seeing st. vincent completed my life
 | gabethepiratesquid Yes, let's! What's your opinion? To be honest I think the rapping overall is a little bit weaker on Take Care, but it also doesn't have as many filler tracks and the production is more cohesive overall and fantastic in a subtle way. The R
 | cbmartinez WHO'S THAT BABE IN YOUR ICON NOT THE ONE ON THIS PAGE BUT THAT ONE THAT COMES UP WHEN YOU POST YEAH
 | Hawks Dude would you possibly have a link for the new Drake album?
 | Xenophanes Gratz on the promotion! You have a different kind of style that I just so happen to really dig. Completely forgot to congratulate you earlier, sorry : [
 | Enotron is the new james blake really that bad? congrats btw.
 | wabbit 82% approval lol. Good job though your avalanches review made me join the site (take that as you will). Also you dropped a 5 on the Caretaker?
 | Crysis Be sure to join the contributors last.fm group: http://www.last.fm/group/Sputnikmusic.com Contributors
 | klap god dammit. yankees
 | klap congrats although personally i think we need less new yorkers
 | wabbit hi5 for liking good music
 | pianotuna downloaded, let's see how long it takes me to get around to it. :)
 | AggravatedYeti I love BossaNova and coincidentally have not heard of this woman so props homie. I thank you : )
 | Yotimi You're killing me with those BoC comments. But yeah, Roygbiv is definitely the most immediate track. Let the others sink in though - maybe with time. You don't even like the keyboard chords in Turquoise Hexagon Sun??
 | aokuneff missed ya at animal collective but they killed the set amirite?
 | pianotuna haunt me again is probably my favourite tim hecker release, super "review" alexrobertson
 | Enotron http://tawnypeaks.bandcamp.com/album/harris-harris-harris-ep i know you are big on introducing sputnik to your own musical works, here listen to my friends ep its nice you might like it good lyrics read up maybe : / ?

 | Yotimi ya heard any of these?: Secede - Tryshasla / VHS Head - Trademark Ribbons of Gold / Out Hud - S.T.R.E.E.T. D.A.D. / Metro Area - S/T
 | Yotimi Really liked Synthesist, especially the title track. Thanks man
 | qwe3 haha nice, will check out
 | Yotimi Just picked it up, I'll let you know what I think.
 | Yotimi Genuinely impressed with your album man. Good stuff.
 | omnipanzer Really like the album bro. It is a little more laid back than I typically like but it is perfect for when I'm in that mood.
 | Yotimi I'll check it out. Btw, I enjoyed Phaedra. I need to give it a devoted headphones listen before I rate though.
 | Electric City end of the month, probably. as for wonderbear: will listen
 | Yotimi The KLF is awesome man, thanks.
 | klap that's off the new album right? had that for the longest time and didnt get around to it, will now
 | Yotimi Definitely one of the better albums I've come across lately. I might have got it b/c of you - if so, thanks man.
 | wabbit ha ha thanks man. I used to adore those elitist genre names but as I get (older isn't really the term)...maybe less douchey I've really grown to hate them. (Also you better be able to tell this is couldwinarabbit)
 | pianotuna i condone al stewart listening though. i have pretty much all his stuff so just yell.
 | pianotuna maybe im a bigger prefab sprout fan than you.
 | pianotuna i recently listened to a lot of his stuff (youtube still, sorry, but i have been listening to it a fair bit) and it's so obvious what you mean with the whole kapput thing. it's not even the music, the voice feels familiar. 'the sound of crying' is rly rly destroyer. also reminds me of george michael, but what can you do.
 | AggravatedYeti trustmeimapro.blogspot.com --I made you another post -- YOU'RE WELCOME : )
 | AggravatedYeti posted made n all that. Soon enough we can both talk about how awesome Prefab and Al are. YESYESYES.
 | AggravatedYeti anytime. I'll even make a post with his other brilliant record 'Modern Times' fer you. I think you'll eat this s*** right up.
 | AggravatedYeti http://trustmeimapro.blogspot.com/2010/05/al-stewart-past-present-and-future.html -- BAM!!!
 | AggravatedYeti hahahaha. well ok, can't argue with that. Have you ever heard any Al Stewart, Alex?
 | AggravatedYeti is pretty damn good, but I haven't given it enough time. Actually thanks for reminding me I'll play that shiz today. Also: wtf 2.5 McLusky?
 | klap hey new bibio leaked you should review it i don't have time

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
 | Bitchfork lol i know. you should check out either ulixkwescent or music for flutes by torpor since both are like that-ish but the latter's more your speed
 | pianotuna i meant to respond. will get on it although i intend to listen to the beatles in great depth after learning to love hey jude.
 | pianotuna d/led the album with the yellowy album cover so will listen to that soon.
 | pianotuna i like the piano but i don't think it sits too right with the vocals. the whole thing is purdy tho.
 | pianotuna i remember listening to the one with the bird on the front cover, dragonboy etc. im not sure if that was the same project. was just piano and samples, good for that kinda stuff though. one day i'll bombard you with awful sufjanette demos. i was made to sing shady lane on our latest recording :(
 | Polymath Animal Collective 4726 plays...eff yeah
 | Bitchfork you seem to like things that are out-there but not out-there in the out-there which is what makes me mad about u
 | Electric City thanks man, we have a whole set of home recorded demos done if you want to listen
 | Electric City tell you what, i'll trade you. take a listen to one of the new Ghost Ship demos, "But Nothing." I'll listen to your song right now.http://ghostship.bandcamp.com/track/but-nothing
 | LegendofPittman I have to agree with Bitchfork for the most part. The songs start off so strong but seem to drone off. I don't think your vocals are as bad as what he says, but they could use a little improvement. The "breaks" in your song where you increase dynamics would maybe sound better with some drums to make it stand out a bit more. To be honest, I like both songs equally. I can tell you 2 are finally finding some direction. There are just some problems that can be fixed.
 | Bitchfork i have no idea they were both in the 2.3/5.0 range - if he can sing you shouldn't. if he can write songs, you should only write the melodies. He can structure better than you but you write melodies much better.
 | Bitchfork d'ling now in ogg vorbis form love ogg so much.
you need to check out ulix kk? and in return i'll review that shizit and then you can listen to my forthcoming collabos and i will review yours it will be like a you suck me i take your AP Chem final exam relationship
 | Bitchfork so i wasn't a big fan of s.b. because you had a great drone thing going on and then you sacrifice it for some whack synths and martial industial techniques. i wish you would have kept with the rumbles and the sporadic percussion rather than that cheap as s*** 200 dollar keyboard tone and the beats.
 | Bitchfork d'ling spartan blues now so when i relisten to the lp i have a better chance of fully understanding it.
um did you check out ulixkwescent yet or did i neglect to give you a link to that? it's noise 6 mins. atmospheric/surreal and reminiscent of dystopian societies. yup. 6 mbs.
 | Bitchfork why the **** is that album 104 mb that s***s ridiculous.
 | Bitchfork yeah, i'm trying to get back into reviewing, and i tried to review yours last night but the review was terrible. :c
 | Realm i own u. i own all of u
 | Bitchfork yeah. is your copy not numbered? it should be... if so i'd like to fix that.
 | Bitchfork well i don't really pay attention to bit rates for anything and i've never gotten complaints that it's too lo-fi. plus my computer is prehistoric so i need smaller file sizes for exports less i use the library.
um your last.fm says you're listening to it out of order, switch the order of an epilogue and precious mag fields
thanks. how do you like thus far?
 | Bitchfork and don't be discouraged by ratings because a lot of my friends who rated it are bitches with their average ratings starting anywhere from 1.5 or 1 rather than 2.5 or 3.
 | Bitchfork Okay well I'll get started on it. Here is my s***:
http://rateyourmusic.com/artist/unfathoms (click on the albums for mediafire and deions)
bypass rogue, you listened to that split already so yeah you have two releases. i'm also working on some eai, p.e., and chamber-influenced noise/eai pieces so I'll send you those later.
 | Bitchfork this is your project, right? and if i review it you have to listen to my stuff, deal?
 | Yotimi I'll listen if you listen to David Axelrod's "The Human Abstract" and tell me it's awesome.
 | Deviant. Hey man, I have a favor to ask you regarding the upcoming user 2010 feature. Would I be able to grab your email so I can discuss it with you?
 | Yotimi I'm actually digging your Stringer Barksdale stuff. It's pretty good man. Your piano playing and Singing kind of reminds me of my buddy's band: http://www.myspace.com/spruceleaves
 | pianotuna hey where the hell is my change review. also the new tim hecker is great, have you heard it?
 | Bitchfork so chambered and i were talking about how he doesn't think favorite=best music (lies) and he said i agreed with you. was like wtf, but props for understanding music and not being dumb thinking that music is inherently better than another type of music for dumb reasons.
 | Bitchfork http://www.mediafire.com/?vnqtwuynqgn#1
Guernica - Shinseiki E No Unga
japanese progressive pop with huge classical and cabaret influences and you'd love it.
 | Bitchfork my rym bud made an album i think you'd enjoy
http://www.mediafire.com/?adgnwa17n0uov37
experimental ambient/drone with Indian classical influences (not going to get into describing it all).
 | pianotuna http://www.cokemachineglow.com/feature/5961/concert-dplan-2011 this article really made me teary.
 | couldwinarabbit So you got a nice big list of albums you have already heard
 | pianotuna haha yes well we could form some sort of brain trust while you write it and then i could take all the credit in the comments section. ;)
 | pianotuna as with most good things i have it ready to listen to but not, er, listened to. :( i will, but i really expect this review.
 | pianotuna i need a reflective alex robertson one.
 | pianotuna can i have a really indepth alex robertson 5 star review of change?
 | Bitchfork meet me at the door by the garden i'll be at the door by the garden.
 | Electric City the golden years ep is sweet so far, i like the droney folk with crystal clear female vocals thing you have going
 | porch i keep clicking but cant add my fav bands ****
 | Enotron haha thanks. keep reviewing, hopefully you'll make it next time around.
 | Tyrael Thanks for helping me improve my review. I appreciate it very much.
 | GeorgeCostanza i live in New York so i'm sort of obligated to love Gershwin. but it's a happy obligation. the man was a genius. anyone who loves jazz music should also pay his respects to the master
 | Yotimi Did I ever rec you Velella Velella - The Bay of Biscay? Due to your love of The Avalanches I highly recommend it.
 | Spec I pos'd but say goodbye to your approval rating soon haha.
 | Yotimi a 4 for Keith Fullerton Whitman - hey we agree on something
 | Ire nice soundoff
 | pianotuna there. those are my favourite beatles albums!
 | theacademy "also in my reviews, of which I've written 71." gotta be careful with 'of which,' robbo.. you usually want to use this with dependent subjective/objective possessive clauses, which is not the case in your sentence. To explain, we simplify your clause to '71 of which I have written' (from the independent clause 'I have written 71 of my reviews'). The problem that you probably pick up on from inserting this in place of your dependent clause becomes, well, 'if you wrote 71, who wrote the others?'
 | Motiv3 whos the girl in your profile pic?
 | Ponton eh, i hate the guy's voice
 | pianotuna i listen to your recs sometimes. you never return my calls.
