  • Emim Were you troll rating albums again?
    November 30 11:41 PM
  • onionbubs And we play basements so i think it'll be fine
    November 28 10:45 AM
  • onionbubs Oh that's fine. We play a ton of green day and stuff so that's not too much of a problem
    November 28 10:45 AM
  • onionbubs Hey dude. I found an ht20 for pretty cheap recently. Would 20w be loud enough to play with a drummer? I'd spend the extra money if i need the headroom, but id rather not spend the extra 250-300 bucks
    November 28 09:16 AM
  • MikeHunt yo where are all your ratings/reviews/soundoffs at?
    November 28 08:24 AM
  • Winsomniac https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-dDCbRFiTB0 Didn't know this came out this year. Not sure if you've heard it; been slacking on music this year
    November 21 06:59 PM
  • bentheREDfan I've actually got a decent amount of time on my hands and practically no life, so I've already listened to both Your Sparkling Death Cometh and Midnight On Earthship. Liked YSDC, couldn't stand MOE.
    November 9 10:29 PM
  • bentheREDfan I am probably going to review the whole Falling Up Discog, though I'll probably do Hours separately because I thought I read that the band wanted that viewed as a different project.
    November 9 10:27 PM
  • onionbubs Thanks dude!
    November 9 01:11 PM
  • onionbubs Thanks for the advice man. Yeah that's not a priority really. I was only slightly considering it i def don't need it
    November 9 11:17 AM
  • onionbubs Yeah I'm pretty cool with the axe. I just kinda want to upgrade the tuners and pickups. Ive found some decent ones and i think i'll go with em. The pickup (a 498t) is like 150 bucks and the tuners are like 85 ish
    November 9 11:16 AM
  • onionbubs yea i did haha. les paul special ii. picked it up fr less than 100 bucks. that should tell you everything you need to know
    November 9 10:34 AM
  • onionbubs Oh the guitar doesn't have a pick guard yet at all. I've heard from other people that it's safe to drill em into this one but I wanted to be sure
    November 8 10:31 PM
  • onionbubs also for asthetics i kinda want to add a pickguard
    November 8 01:50 PM
  • onionbubs Hey dude. Any advice when it comes to modding guitars? I've been using an epi les paul special 2 for like a year and a half (first guitar) and based on the research ive done, modding it is cheaper than buying a new guitar. It's pretty serviceable, but i intend on swapping out the pickups and tuners. What would you advise i do?
    November 8 01:49 PM
  • onionbubs Yea he was always one of my favorite parts about the band. He really put a lot of energy into the drumming, which always made them stand out more. Always liked the guitar work. Especially on silent alarm
    November 4 09:41 PM
  • onionbubs intimacy has like the worst two opening tracks ever haha. i can totally get how a silent alarm fan wouldnt be too down with AWITC upon its release. btw, matt tong was an incredible drummer
    November 4 09:20 PM
  • onionbubs Ive been really digging on bloc party lately. Silent alarm as you mentioned is incredible. Im in that minority of people who preferred weekend in the city, but both are excellent. Even intimacy has its moments (tho that album is incredibly shaky). Its a shame how downhill theyve gone
    November 4 08:10 PM
  • onionbubs I cant really tell what your music taste is, but does your name have anything to do with bloc party or nah?
    November 4 01:10 PM
  • onionbubs Yea it takes so much research and visits to guitarcenter haha. Im really just looking for a decent tube amp between 20-40w to replace my current amp (Tho of all the solid state stuff ive tried, the one i got a peavey vypyr 75 is the best sounding one imo)
    November 2 08:55 PM
  • onionbubs just looked some of their stuff up. it looks pretty alright. ill need to do some more digging to find one suited to my needs (a vox based amp wouldnt give me the tones im looking for) but thanks for telling me about em!
    November 2 03:44 PM
  • onionbubs And i found a few for pretty cheap used i dont think they make em new anymore
    November 2 12:52 PM
  • onionbubs They make a 20w combo
    November 2 12:50 PM
  • onionbubs What's your opinion of the peavey windsor?
    November 2 12:07 PM
  • onionbubs Alright thanks for the help dude. I'll look into the multiple wattage thing, but so far im leaning most towards the ht 40. Maybe 20 if i can find a good deal
    October 21 10:49 PM
  • onionbubs thanks for the advice. thing is although im planning to use it as a bedroom amp, i also need the headroom to keep up with a drummer. will a 15-20 watt version do the trick for that?
    October 21 03:34 PM
  • onionbubs onionbubs Hey dude. Since you know about gutiar equipment and stuff, i want your input on something. Im thinking of buying an amp, and right now its between an egnater tweaker 40 and a blackstar ht 40. Ive tried the blackstar and really dug the tones of the amp and its diversity, but after hearing about the egnater im now very interested based on what it can do. Which one do you think i should go with

  • ToMMyMiL16 Wow, u really think its that good? ThAnks man.. Actually no, one of my dads customers is an artist who does portraits and other work for people. My dad asked him one day if he could give him a picture and just do it off of that and thats what he did. But yea, i really liked how it came out. Only thing is, when i look at the pic on my profile, it looks really blurry. Can you see it good?
    August 25 12:14 AM
  • ToMMyMiL16 Im guessing RYM is rate your music right? And bloc, kinda random, but you like the portrait in my profile pic? In case you were wondering... Its a portrait of me, my son, and my dad. We had an artist do it. He did a great job for the money it costed. $300 is a pretty good deal for that kind of color and detail.
    August 24 10:23 PM
  • ToMMyMiL16 Good to be back homie. Bloc what happened to your profile. You had to get a new one?
    August 24 10:23 AM
  • ToMMyMiL16 Hey buddy, its ur boy with the god mode guitar and infinte riffs!? Lol but bloc, ive been using this site for quite some time now, do you remember/recognize my user name? Ive been a user for wow I think 5 years its been... But my first username tommymil116 got banned like 2012... Then i didnt create this name tommymil16 until like a year later. But aside from the last few weeks, i havent been active for a while... But i def remember me and you having some good discussions about music a few times

    July 31 08:55 PM
  • Willie Checked out Oracles. They sound exactly like System Divide. I mean, exactly like them. I wouldn't be surprised if they had the same members.

  • silentstar yeah it's really a really sweet gig! i'm studying industrial engineering, so i'm actually there as an analytics intern :) oh wow pretty sweet coincidence haha - what type of engineering did you do slash what's your current role? and yeah i definitely know how important internships are - 2/4 of the FTEs on my team were ex-interns so v valuable experience for sure

  • onionbubs cool i definitely wanna play it at some point, as well the other similar amps on the market. see if i can pop by a nearby sam ash or guitar center or something (theyre right across the street from each other in the area im in lol)
    May 12 02:37 PM
  • onionbubs i will definitely check them out! when looking around i stumbled across the blackstar ht 40, which is 600, but since we're not a band that focuses primarily on metal music im not sure. have you had any experience with them?
    May 12 06:18 AM
  • onionbubs probably $350-$600. i wanna try to have a fairly adaptable set up, but 90s emo and post hardcore are what my band plays most.
    May 11 05:57 PM
  • onionbubs can you help me figure out what would be a decent affordable tube amp? i really need to upgrade from not a solid state.
    May 11 02:29 PM
  • Winsomniac Yeah, my only consolation is that the vast majority of people I care to associate with are quite tolerant. I try not to think too much about the kinda s***ty things about society and just hope for the future - I mean even something like Civil Rights in the U.S. is less than 100 years old, which is nuts if you think about it.
    May 9 02:45 PM
  • Winsomniac Ah maybe that's it. I really enjoy the vocal delivery here. And as far as the Christian message hate, religion or anti-religion tends to be a flame magnet anywhere, not just sput so its understandable for me.
    May 9 02:15 PM
  • Winsomniac Yo not sure if christian-y indie rock is your jam, but https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EDAMzpJiXrI is what I'm vibin' on super hard right now. Not really about the message, but sheeeeeit does it sound good

  • DarthHideous1 After listening to the leak two weeks ago I though it was underwhelming compared to songs like Free Fall and Goddess of the Dawn, but my oh my was I so wrong. The catchy choruses and the influences from the previous records has grown on me. It sounds like a mix between between TNR and TWDA with the spacey keys from AHP. I'm considering boosting this up to a 4 because it's currently sitting at a 3.7-ish for me.
    October 28 02:21 AM
  • DarthHideous1 I've been a BoO fan since 2010. TNR and is the first piece I've ever heard by the band but I appreciate the fact they've tried to combine every album at least a little bit into Soul Sphere. The electronic elements incorporated into TWDA is actually what I enjoyed most from that album. The more and more I listen to Soul Sphere, the more I appreciate it. I recently heard that it's actually a concept record, which ties it more together.
    October 28 02:15 AM
  • DarthHideous1 I know you're a huge fan of A Higher Place and I wanted to see how Soul Sphere is treating you and your overall thoughts compared to their other work. Definitely is growing on me more and more with each listen.
    October 27 09:15 PM
  • Dmax28 I am having a tricky time with the new Gorod. Sometimes I feel like it's their best, and very mature. Other times I feel like I was expected much more. It's quirky to say the least, and often surprisingly tame, but the overall structure of the compositions is interesting. What do you think?

  • Winsomniac http://www26.zippyshare.com/v/3mhRWOLC/file.html
    October 14 11:21 PM
  • Dmax28 My first time hearing Gorod was only a few months ago. I've heard the last three albums now. Leading Vision was so tight in the songwriting department. But it seems like they ramped up the technicality on the later albums even more and that's great. I haven't heard the new songs and with the new release so close I am going to wait, but you bet I'll be jamming it day 1!
    October 13 11:47 AM
  • Dmax28 It usually jumps around between sections without a noticable flow like a tech-death album but isn't techy enough to make that fit as well as if they went more simple. Hit and miss. Good moments though. 3/5 for me. What would you rate it compared to the first?I'm looking forward to the new Gorod. What's your fav Gorod album? And do you like Perfect Absolution or Process of a New Decline more?
    October 11 11:46 AM
  • Dmax28 I don't hear much of a difference on the vox on the new Ouroboros album but they do sound a little less dynamic and powerful than before, like he is straining to sound the same. I appreciate that they went more melodic here and had the orchestral parts. It's a way different album than the first one and those looking for the straight thrash would probably like that one more. But this one has the atmosphere. I think they have all the pieces in place but could use more continuity between parts.

  • OmairSh LS has some really cool bits, and some not so cool bits. Leprous is a monstrous band. They'll hopefully be releasing the AOTY.
    February 19 01:07 AM
  • OmairSh Yeah you're right, the release is too far away!! Yeah they do the mellow and aggressive stuff equally well. I hope it's not too similar to the new LS album, that was a let down. At least Leprous' album will be released a little earlier.
    February 18 09:00 PM
  • OmairSh New Riverside album out in a few months, really excited. Although I'm a little anxious to see the direction they've taken, hopefully it will be refreshing.

  • Gmork89 I really didn't enjoy that album, I tried to get into it but the only song I ever listened to repeatedly was Down, it just seemed really uninspired. This new one is just a real surprise, especially how dark it is, I didn't think they would go back to that violet/WWS sound again after how rock oriented their last 2 were.
    November 10 10:08 AM
  • Gmork89 It is, I was worried after their last album but I think they redeemed themselves on this one.

  • OmairSh It's mainly songs from SONGS though. And Piotr G looks uninterested. Still I don't mind good quality live performances of Riverside :-). No worries.
    May 6 07:23 PM
  • OmairSh Better qualty than their first DVD, but the mix is congested http://www.polskieradio.pl/9/200/Artykul/1090228,Riverside-i-nowe-pokolenie-muzyczne-Zobacz-wideo

  • Voivod It's mostly error for me too, but every now and then, something good pops up, so the hunt is worth it overall.

    April 29 08:32 AM
  • Acanthus It's my favorite release by them, pretty sure it's almost perfect.
    April 24 09:28 PM
  • Acanthus Yeah that album slays in general, at the very least it's been a long time since you've heard it.
    April 24 10:32 AM
  • dannyboy89 Saw a post on the Violator thread. Been too busy with academic stuff man, so I haven't made time for reviewing lately. Maybe in May when class is over, I might make the time.
    April 24 12:36 AM
  • Acanthus Glad you liked it, it was a blast to sing along; hadn't heard some of those in ages.
    April 23 08:06 PM
  • Acanthus Took a lot of those new CDs and mixed with them, if you want some Futurepop nostalgia give it a go: http://www.mixcloud.com/Stygian/the-pop-dont-stop/
    April 21 09:31 AM
  • Acanthus Yeah I can understand that, especially for the rarer/lesser known albums.
    April 6 11:41 AM
  • Voivod Hi man, I think you will like this, solid thrash from Spain - http://reekofficial.bandcamp.com/album/necrogenesis

  • Acanthus I was going to buy from Amazon but then remembered that Metropolis did mail-orders; most of them were $13 each, but that was still cheaper than Amazon shipping if I bought them used (and these are new). Had to get AXOE from Amazon though, and picked up Seabound locally for $9. Been meaning to buy more music lately, and finally got around to it. Last week I did a futurepop set and it really pissed me off that I didn't have good quality bitrates on the songs I wanted to use.
    April 5 01:24 PM
  • Acanthus I have the futurepop bug again, bought these on CD today:Covenant: Leaving Babylon Covenant: Northern Light Apoptygma Berzerk: Harmonizer Assemblage 23: Storm Assemblage 23: Meta Icon Of Coil: Machines are Us Panzer AG: This is My Battlefield Rotersand: Welcome to Goodbye Flesh Field: Strain Seabound: No Sleep Demon V2.0AXOE: Telegraphic

  • Acanthus Giving "Robots Don't Lie" a listen, I think I've finally come to a point where I can enjoy THYX's sound.
    March 29 11:46 AM
  • Acanthus Well they are less known if I had to guess, but maybe the name change was just a coincidence?
    March 20 10:28 AM
  • Acanthus Yeah the original is pretty badass, though I liked how the cover turned out. Myers gave up the Destroid name for DSTR after an americanized dubstep "supergroup" started using the name; caused some confusion among fans for awhile.
    March 19 10:37 AM
  • Acanthus Assume you've heard this cover? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Nnn4ANPeC_g
    March 17 11:30 PM
  • owen Yo bloc, you are sputnik's biggest FACT fan right?Their latest album was released last week
    March 17 09:26 AM
  • Acanthus Will look at it then, thanks sir.
    March 8 07:53 PM
  • dannyboy89 KEA is way overlooked on this site, I'm thinking about doing a 5 review for it.
    March 8 06:33 PM
  • Acanthus Might have to look it up, don't think I enjoyed much of their older stuff but things change.
    March 8 11:41 AM
  • Acanthus Definitely, that's so 2010.
    March 7 11:22 PM
  • Acanthus Yup, the "classic" EBM/Futurepop sound is pretty hard to find outside the genre staples. Sucks hard, because with the influx of new electronic music in other areas I'd hoped that EBM would pick up too (and be quality).
    March 6 11:14 PM
  • Acanthus True, but Leaving Babylon has more than one great track for me; I wanted more driven songs as well. Sad to see how the music market has become, but it's also provided some cool creative bits too; I think I'd be happy with it being a 4/5.
    March 5 10:05 PM
  • Acanthus Yeah for me the Covenant album was pretty much what I'd hoped for, aka more upbeat than Modern Ruin. I haven't gone back and listened to a lot of futurepop/EBM, but lately it's been taking up more of my time; wish I had paid attention to bitrates when I first started collecting because it's just sad to have this many fun albums in low quality. I really hope Neuroticfish blow my socks off with this album, it'd be a wonderful surprise!
    March 5 09:39 AM
  • Acanthus Yeah just finally got Les Chansons Neurotiques the other day, been meaning to pick it up for years now. Looking forward to the new album, and though I know you didn't like the new Covenant it seems like we may have a pretty good lineup to the year so far.
    March 4 10:22 AM
  • Acanthus Been craving some of that futurepop sound but wanted something new and actually enjoyable, glad you enjoyed it! No news as far as I can find on a solid release date, but I assume it has to be soonish.
    March 3 10:50 AM
  • Acanthus New (3 months ago) Neuroticfish video for his upcoming album, it's ****ing awesome to have the group back and it be this enjoyable: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ywfs07VFdpM

  • Spec I was about to comment in the emmure news thread then I saw you said everyone in there was going to listen to the album so I didn't.
    February 2 07:21 PM
  • Voivod Just jammed the eponymous track from the Condition Critical album, the band cuts it indeed.
    February 2 04:10 PM
  • Voivod Shrapnel's debut album came to the site for review and while I was/am reluctant to review it due to "no free time" issues, I checked their two EPs and frankly they are one of the few decent thrash metal revival bands out there. Will check your rec and get back to you in due time.
    February 2 03:43 PM
  • Voivod This band's thrash kicks serious ass bloc, check this tune and let me know what you think - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aJIabMxhPkc
    February 2 03:10 AM
  • Insurrection I did too, but it's really not much different from what they've done before. Don't want to oversell it or anything though, let me know what you think when you get a chance to hear it.
    January 16 09:06 PM
  • Insurrection I'll admit I didn't think it was that special at first but it really grows on you.
    January 16 08:44 PM
  • Insurrection Anxiously awaiting to hear what you think of the new Periphery EP :P
    January 16 10:23 AM
  • SadAndHolyGlow Right. A shame.
    January 11 08:03 PM
  • SadAndHolyGlow Wow. Just a week or so after we talked about Benea Reach, they broke up. Weird. I'm posting a news article on it.
    January 11 02:02 PM
  • Kusangii I listened to some songs of it and it sounded really interesting, definitely going to listen in full soon. Legions was alright though, pretty unmemorable and forgettable in the end, with a few cool moments imo. And yeah, I don't think there's any classic thrash band that has released an album in this century that's worthy of a 4 or higher rating tbh.
    December 16 10:13 AM
  • DatBeefPudding oh neat, that makes sense. i just checked the wiki page and it said the album was mostly successful in japan so i guess i can understand why they did it... sort of. and also their label was Sony so that also adds to it.
    December 10 10:49 PM
  • DatBeefPudding yeah that just blows my mind. and wasn't the label canadian that they were signed to at the time as well?
    December 10 10:35 PM
  • DatBeefPudding especially since all the B-side songs are generally AWESOME. why not just extend the length of the original LP?
    December 10 09:57 PM
  • DatBeefPudding yeah i don't know why they added additional songs to the Japanese (i think it's the Japanese) version. a few bands have done this, and it seems to generally always be the punk or pop-punk bands. it baffles me.
