  • BeneaththeDarkOcean Hey Davey! Listening to that new Sasha Siem, pretty crazy sounds out of that record. You gonna do a review?
    July 28 06:08 PM
  • RoundOnEndHiInMiddle Thanks Davey! But yeah, give it a jam sometime. Pretty solid stuff
    July 23 05:17 AM
  • Toondude10 I just remembered, you haven't listened to the new Hey Rosetta! album yet.
    July 17 09:18 PM
  • Toondude10 you know, with albums being released on Firday now, how about a discussion? I know I've been rec-ing a lot of these but it's just a thought.
    July 11 12:29 PM
  • Toondude10 fair enough, I liked that album a bit even though it's not really original. Has a kind of Muse vibe to it. (At least for me it does unlike Red XP)
    July 11 12:10 PM
  • Toondude10 I think you might like this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F4FwMux9Jrw
    July 11 12:04 PM
  • Fugue Hah, as if anyone else even remembers who I am :P I'm thinking of giving the FFS album a go actually. You heard it?
    July 9 07:55 PM
  • Ponton if i am sober enough to vote it will
    July 6 08:49 PM
  • Toondude10 yeah that is pretty much my overall opinion of it as well. Right now the average for it is perfect for me. Though the last three songs are great imo.
    July 4 08:29 PM
  • Atari just looking out for you cause i know you reviewed their last one - it is slightly underwhelming at first but gets more enjoyable with repeated listens. still, i know he's capable of better and it would be nice if he put out an entire solo album rather than just EP's
    June 29 07:51 PM
  • Atari new anthony raneri EP is out if you didn't notice
    June 29 12:51 PM
  • Fugue I'm also being worked like a slave IRL, but in return I'm being taken to Germany for the next 5 days so that's pretty exciting I guess. Also kinda maybe feeling a review coming on, haven't really stretched my writing skills in a while - and I've just noticed that like the Nostradamus I am, my prediction of a new Foals album this year was indeed correct! Quite enjoying the blogs btw.
    June 23 05:33 PM
  • CalculatingInfinity I do since I follow Botchamania and OSW Review, it had too much of a big impact on my life and I love the dumb s***/complexities in the wrestling industry so much I can't not stay in touch. If you have 2 hours free someday I highly recommend you watch this, OSW reviewed Summerslam 92 which is Davey's biggest moment in wrestling. They reviewed the whole Hulkamania era if you're intrested, hilarious lads: https://vimeo.com/68310381
    June 23 09:30 AM
  • CalculatingInfinity Just saw your profile, and British Bulldog picture and reference nice. "There is no bull, in this British Bulldog" ;)
    June 23 09:07 AM
  • Mort. no Enter Shikari ratings Davey, that needs to be fixed
    June 23 07:55 AM
  • Fugue sup
    June 22 04:57 PM
  • elcrawfodor You said to let you know next time I had a review for feedback, well it's here three months later, concept-album free. I know metal isn't your forte but would appreciate anything you had to say!
    June 19 08:07 PM
  • Toondude10 I'll admit I thought it was a little too long at first but then I remembered it's a concept album :P
    June 19 07:23 AM
  • Toondude10 Did you listen to that new Dear Hunter song?
    June 18 10:19 PM
  • Atari just based on the 2 songs i've heard from the new album, it does sound pretty similar to their last album, but still great. I'm just glad you're reviewing it, they're underrated and deserve some more exposure on sput!
    June 18 07:59 PM
  • Atari i see your jamming the new versus the world! you get a promo? on another note, you should check out sorority noise, i think you'd dig
    June 18 04:03 PM
  • Toondude10 You know with Breaking Benjamin's new album I just thought of a discussion topic: Reunions! Some of your favorite bands from the past reuniting after a hiatus or break-up and possibly doing new material. I've got a couple of bands I can think of (*cough* Tool *cough*).
    June 16 11:01 PM
  • Toondude10 Yeah I'll admit it's probably their weakest since their debut. It has a few pretty good songs though.
    June 16 09:01 AM
  • Toondude10 Dear Hunter song came out http://www.dailymotion.com/video/x2u1i7e_the-dear-hunter-a-night-on-the-town_music
    June 15 06:06 PM
  • Toondude10 Did you ever listen to this yet or is it still on your "delayed" list? https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL-XbTEkQt3TZO1wznlyvZpbotymY6PDvy
    June 14 08:15 PM
  • Atari *their new album
    June 13 08:35 PM
  • Atari Sounds good man! Funny enough I was gonna tell u the other day u should review there new album haha. Seems like it was forever ago they announced homesick/roadsick honestly.
    June 13 08:34 PM
  • Ecnalzen Sometimes, I think I am just a sucker for Gustav's singing voice, and I probably won't ever really dislike anything the do purely for that, ha ha. They pretty much went straight pop/rock on here, but I still think it turned out fine. It's even more stripped down musically than Bones was from Kings. They were going for the hooks, I guess. SwS have some fun stuff, but I just can't handle that dudes singing voice.
    June 12 09:52 PM
  • Ecnalzen I just noticed the new Young Guns has been getting crapped on a bit here, so I was curious what you thought of it. I def don't think it's better than their first two, but I still really like it, and I'm glad they haven't tried to make the same album twice yet.
    June 12 01:31 PM
  • Ecnalzen Have you heard new Young Guns and/or Emery, yet, Davey?
    June 11 03:29 PM
  • paradox1216 Oh man I concur with atari do the silverstein discographyBut anyway I'm here to say that you calling me Double D reminds me of my elementary school days :D so nostalgic lol
    June 6 01:47 AM
  • Atari how have you not heard silverstein's discog srsly
    June 5 01:40 PM
  • Toondude10 Kerrang! gave it a 5/5 and it's at an 84 on Metacritic last time I checked.
    June 5 07:36 AM
  • Toondude10 Lol, well I'd consider it, half-hype or something. After all it is on the trending list :P
    June 4 07:25 PM
  • Toondude10 found a stream for Drones if you're interested: http://www.goldenmp3.ru/muse/drones
    June 4 01:18 PM
  • Toondude10 ah okay then
    June 3 09:17 AM
  • SowingSeason Huh that is weird. I figured you weren't into her enough to dl a leak but cool!
    June 3 08:38 AM
  • SowingSeason New Zella Day is out. I think you'd like it. Because you're me.
    June 3 08:25 AM
  • Toondude10 Also I haven another idea for a discussion (I'm practically throwing them at you :P), how about local bands? Not just small time bands that you've seen/heard at a concert some 20 years ago, although they're included, but even famous bands that I'm sure most people on the site will know about.
    June 2 09:03 PM
  • Toondude10 ah, okay. That's a good topic to do I guess. I do enjoy me some acoustic songs every now and then.
    June 2 08:47 PM
  • Toondude10 Just curious, will the next discussion be the one on covers?
    June 2 08:36 PM
  • OmairSh Oh okay, thanks anyway
    May 30 09:11 PM
  • OmairSh Hey I just wanted to ask how to embed a soundcloud link in a review?
    May 30 04:05 PM
  • trackbytrackreviews Is there a rule against having scary gifs/images as your avatar?
    May 27 05:19 PM
  • Toondude10 Did you ever listen to that new 10 Years album?
    May 26 06:48 PM
  • tempest-- hahaha I came here to be like "omg Davey, Def Leppard Aus tour!" looks like Arcade here beat me to it!
    May 25 10:49 AM
  • Arcade perth is basically the anus of Australia in fairness
    May 25 10:33 AM
  • Arcade was surprised by how few dates there are. and wtf is with Live opening? crazy times, i tell ya
    May 25 09:33 AM
  • Arcade it's a midrange open air amphitheater, so i guess they're going for a more intimate air this time around. last time they played NIB Stadium so it's a fair step down in terms of capacity
    May 25 07:27 AM
  • Arcade this will be my first time seeing them, seeing as they were my favourite band for a solid year in high school i feel I owe it myself
    May 25 04:28 AM
  • Arcade so on a scale from 9 to 9, how excited are you for the Def Leppard tour?
    May 24 08:48 PM
  • Toondude10 Yeah it's a pretty decent album, though some of the songs sound too similar to each other.
    May 20 10:11 AM
  • Toondude10 here you go, just discovered these guys and thought you might enjoy this: https://play.spotify.com/album/0FyPTDIxMz7vdDltTfLcce
    May 19 12:17 PM
  • Toondude10 gosh there so much things about music to talk about :P
    May 18 07:16 PM
  • Toondude10 here's another idea for a discussion: concept albums
    May 18 10:17 AM
  • Toondude10 That's a neat idea! I'd say go for it.
    May 18 10:12 AM
  • Jom When people complain that their ratings disappeared due to trolling, I tell them that we're in the same boat, with one obvious exception!
    May 12 03:51 PM
  • AmericnZero02 Great! I'm really glad you liked those records. Before the Storm and I Know I are a couple of my favorites. I slightly prefer Burn also. I enjoyed the more moody atmosphere of Isla along with it being a more varied album. but the hooks weren't quite on par with Burn and it has a bit more filler. Like you said, probably a transitional album. They're already working on their third album so we won't have to wait long to see where they go next!
    May 11 11:33 AM
  • Brostep Will definitely check him out - thanks for the tip-off!

  • SowingSeason I have not been fostering, but if I come up with something I'll let you know immediately!
    April 30 04:11 AM
  • SowingSeason Do you want to write about the new Breaking Benjamin June 23? I don't think I'll be able to/want to when that time rolls around...
    April 28 11:46 AM
  • AmericnZero02 Ok, yeah. That TCTT record is really good. Not the most varied of albums, but really polished and leagues more mature than most bands' debut. I'm looking forward to see what those guys do in the future.
    April 25 05:22 PM
  • Toondude10 Thanks! Yeah it's kinda disappointing honestly but there are some really solid songs, especially the last three.
    April 24 09:16 AM
  • Toondude10 That new 10 Years album is out in case if your interested.
    April 24 08:08 AM
  • trackbytrackreviews Any chance you could chance the name of mewithoutyou's fourth album to it's full title aka It's All Crazy! It's All False! It's All a Dream! It's Alright, pretty please
    April 19 09:26 PM
  • SowingSeason I quite like your list but I'm not familiar with all of it. I'll check the Olympus list too I'm sure there's great ideas in there. And yeah, if someone I don't know shows up and drinks the bar clean out of beer, I'll know who to blame (Ponton). People say married life is different, what's your experience? I don't expect much to change honestly, been w/ this girl for 3 years and prior to that was 5 years of unrequited love and Yellowcard songs - me, not her unfortunately.
    April 8 05:48 AM
  • SowingSeason Ooh cool thanks. I already had every intention of including Anberlin's " Inevitable " but I'll check out the others I haven't heard of. I'm trying to find that small area of overlap between cliche romantic pop and hipster indie music. Anberlin is the closest to total agreement as the fiancee and I have come so far. I know it will end up being more of the cliche stuff though because the less accessible stuff simply doesn't work for a wedding...
    April 8 04:04 AM
  • SowingSeason staff peeps for recs that would be more wedding suitable. I forget how long ago it was but I seem to recall you did something similar? So yeah anyway we're at that stage right now where it's becoming very real that it's actually going to happen and we're tackling smaller items we never would have thought of from a year away, such as seating arrangements. It's gonna be an open bar so I have this sneaking suspicion that Ponton, Dev will show up outta nowhere.
    April 8 02:51 AM
  • SowingSeason Annual leave for jobs you mean? If so then yeah, we don't get much. Depends on a lot of things of course, like your profession and how long you've been there. I miss summers off while teaching, that was amazing. As far as the wedding goes I'm getting married July 18 so yeah its right around the corner. I'm actually putting together some music but I don't want it to be the s*** I listen to because you can't really dance to Brand New or The Antlers lol. May have to consult some
    April 8 02:46 AM
  • SowingSeason It depends on the university, but most of them just have a Spring Semester and a Fall Semester, then offer summer classes as a means of speeding things up or catching up in terms of credits. And most colleges already had their spring breaks, although it's possible some people could still be of lf for Easter. The only person I know who is still in college didn't have off for Easter, so she went back Monday.
    April 7 07:45 PM
  • AmericnZero02 No worries, it's a big country. Seems like every other band I get into these days is from Australia.
    April 4 03:28 PM
  • AmericnZero02 The new one is a little slower and moodier, both are about equally great though. I've been really liking those TTCT tracks that I've checked out so far. I'll probably go pick that record up next week!
    April 3 10:37 PM
  • JohnnyOnTheSpot hehe I actually have to take that criticsm positively, in that I'm glad you thought the review had so much going on. but, if you think I could have a lighter intro, I'll see if I can work that idea into my next writeup
    April 3 03:20 AM
  • JohnnyOnTheSpot sup Davey. i took your advice on that T'Saatsuna review you looked at a while back and tried to eliminate the first-person element in my reviewing. anyway, if you find time to check out my latest and lemme know if you prefer the change in style, I'd appreciate it
    April 2 10:22 PM
  • SowingSeason sowingsputnik@gmail.com, btw
    March 31 08:36 AM
  • AmericnZero02 Hey hey, thanks for the reminder on that one. I read your review the other day but then forgot to actually listen to the record. haha. I'll let you know how much I end up liking it! I'm really enjoying Young Lions' new record if you needed a rec.
    March 30 03:03 PM
  • trackbytrackreviews You gave Black Parade a 4.5? High 5!
    March 28 04:06 PM
  • Toondude10 True, but still I find it ****ing hilarious
    March 28 08:09 AM
  • henryChinaski He was regarded as a great talent, but they say he was bothered about all the media attention and the pressure prominent young Bundesliga players usually get
    March 28 03:56 AM
  • henryChinaski Broich definitely has what it takes to become one of the best. He even played for the German national team a couple of times (back in the day)
    March 28 03:53 AM
  • PorkchopExpress Hey yo, I'm sorry I'm barely on here anymore, and I *just* saw your shoutbox about Tobias Jesso Jr. I saw your review though, and it was great!
    March 28 12:05 AM
  • ExplosiveOranges Lol, I'd heard "Pour Some Sugar On Me" and "Rock of Ages" a long time ago, but only recently started really listening to their other stuff during the 80's.
    March 27 11:38 PM
  • ExplosiveOranges Davey, I've finally gotten around to jamming Def Leppard, and I have to say that I'm pretty damn impressed.
    March 27 11:33 PM
  • Toondude10 I think I found your next Sputnik Discusses blog http://mic.com/articles/113796/this-map-reveals-every-state-s-least-favorite-musician
    March 27 10:13 AM
  • henryChinaski he seems to be pretty popular down under. There's even a movie from a German director about his move to Australia
    March 27 08:59 AM
  • henryChinaski I've been following Thomas Broich's career since he went to Brisbane. He used to play for Cologne which sort of is my hometown
    March 27 08:55 AM
  • schoonda You've given it very high praise I can see! From the few songs i checked I can't say its really doing much for me, might need to give it more time.
    March 26 06:47 PM
  • klap was reviewing this lineup http://www.thebolditalic.com/articles/7109-heres-your-outside-lands-lineup-for-2015 and saw GIVERS?!? they coming out w a new album this year??
    March 26 05:11 PM
  • elephantREVOLUTION geez davey. i'm gonna try to listen to this a couple more times. it better be a grower
    March 25 12:26 PM
  • trackbytrackreviews is it the new emery
    March 24 10:06 PM
  • trackbytrackreviews It wasn't up when I asked D:
    March 24 01:22 PM
  • Cygnatti i guess they kinda phased out. they released a single a year ago with the caption "probably the last sweet trip song ever." which has since then (months after) been edited to "probably NOT the last sweet trip song ever", so there's hope for new material! whether or not in the pop/rock vein of this album, or the idm works of their past material, i'd happily accept!
    March 24 09:07 AM
  • Cygnatti lolololol no i'm not joking. yeah the genre tags don't accurately represent the last album made by the band, barely any shoegaze and no idm whatsoever, and it's basically just a really really good pop rock record with indie sensibilities and synth/electropop thrown in for good measure. not gonna be as immediate or outward as a lot of the stuff you jam but it's a bit more chilled and laid back. i really do hope you dig it. :]
    March 23 07:54 PM
  • trackbytrackreviews Hey DaveyBoy, do you happen to know when this year's best album chart goes live?
    March 23 11:31 AM
  • Cygnatti davey, jam this pls. :] https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kqPiiRoqfZY

  • SowingSeason It's happening: http://loudwire.com/breaking-benjamin-new-album-june-new-single-failure/
    March 20 12:01 PM
  • elcrawfodor Glad you liked the idea so much, haha! Also, I just put up a review, and as a Staff member would you mind looking over it with any criticisms that you have? Really wanting to improve my writing.
    March 19 07:47 PM
  • elcrawfodor Hmm off the top of my head, I think album artwork would be an interesting topic. The way it relates to the music, whether it should be taken into consideration when we look at the album as a whole, whether or not it means anything when the artwork changes with reissues, etc. I could do a short write up for a prompt if you'd like
    March 19 10:57 AM
  • elcrawfodor Hey man, just wanted to let you know I've really been enjoying the Sputnik Discusses features you've been doing. It's been a great way to start intelligent conversations on here beyond "this riffs hard m/" haha
    March 19 12:41 AM
  • JohnnyOnTheSpot lol maybe he could edit the artist name and put a space or whatever might help
    March 16 06:40 PM
  • JohnnyOnTheSpot hey davey, dunno how big you are on giving review criticism, but if you're willing to look at my latest and lemme know what you think I'd appreciate it. could use some unbiased feedback once in a while
    March 16 06:24 PM
  • donovan909 I wasn't sure how to reach out to the staff to submit a review, but obviously, it would be total bs to be reviewing myself.... I just released my self-titled debut and posted the link below. It would be an honor (no matter the outcome of the review!) to be reviewed on here.Cheers, Donovanhttps://donovancox.bandcamp.com/releases
    March 11 04:19 PM
  • Crysis Cheers man, really glad you like it as I didn't want to be the guy to derail the series as soon as you let someone else give it a shot. Seems like the discussion will be a lot of long posts so we'll see if we get a lot of people to bite and jump in.
    March 10 08:49 PM
  • klap i enjoyed it for about the first half, but then the conceit sort of wore on me
    March 10 11:53 AM
  • psandy I suppose i didn't quite think of that, but you're right. I'll pick it back up after this new Mouse isn't on constant rotation. Looking forward to your next review, I'm a big fan of yours.
    March 9 08:49 PM
  • psandy Hey, sorry for the late reply. I thought it was an enjoyable listen, I've been thru it about twice. It seems a bit safe to me, nothing no one hasn't heard before, but pretty good nevertheless. Lyrics are very early 80's, probably my main complaint.
    March 9 08:14 PM
  • Atari i'll post in there in a bit. can't really think of any band from my hometown off the top of my head haha
    March 4 03:54 PM
  • Atari alright just wanted to make sure i wasn't stepping on your toes. Cheers!
    March 4 03:23 PM
  • Atari hey man let me know if you decide not to review the new daisyhead because if you're not i might request a feature to get the band some more exposure. Otherwise, it's all yours :]
    March 4 01:38 PM
  • Kiran Just post her video in a Weakerthans thread and you've got a party. Her wry sense of humour alone will make half the site gush!
    March 4 10:44 AM
  • Kiran I'm good, Davey, thanks, and I hope you are too. Re: the record, I have and it is a dream. How is the buzz down under? I bet she's just taking off
    March 3 12:38 PM
  • someguest Definitely. Rehfeldt can play just about anything he wants. I had my ratings wiped quite some time ago. I don't assign ratings to anything anymore.
    March 1 01:14 AM
  • someguest This is probably my favorite from him: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u7QaKxfa2kI
    March 1 01:07 AM
  • SowingSeason Thanks. I kind of lost interest because I'd keep getting 2-4 users to volunteer for each song, yet practically no one followed through. I haven't given up on it, I've just acknowledged that it may take a really long time because I may find myself filling in a lot of the blurbs that were supposed to be done by the userbase.
    February 25 03:54 AM
  • SowingSeason I have no idea when that converge article will be done, I'm still waiting on user submissions. It could be months haha. So fire away!
    February 25 01:30 AM
  • RadicalEd I only listened to "The Woods" prior to "No Cities to Love" and i wasn't really thaaat keen on it (3.0) although it's highly regarded. I did love "No Cities to Love" though. Try "A new Wave".
    February 22 07:57 AM
  • RadicalEd While were at it, have you heard "No cities to love"? If so what did you think of it?
    February 22 03:41 AM
  • RadicalEd rutracker is a torrent site like piratebay
    February 22 03:11 AM
  • Green Baron yo davey do u got an email or maybe a facebook or any place where we can privately chat about stuff?
    February 20 10:19 PM
  • NocteDominum I hear you, what's next on the reviewing chopping block?
    February 18 06:01 AM
  • NocteDominum Sup Davey.
    February 18 03:46 AM
  • ComeToDaddy It's a fine line to walk too, deeper and more thought provoking topics could scare some people off, because they don't feel qualified/educated enough to talk about it. But there's only one way to find out (; if I come up with any particularly interesting ideas for the column, I'll throw them your way
    February 17 09:27 PM
  • ComeToDaddy Cheers Davey, I'll be looking forward to that post. I've always been a sucker for multi-part albums and concepts, and will have loads to talk about when that happens. Also really loving the 'Sputnik Discusses' feature, it's a great idea to get people more involved. I hope it can maintain this level of popularity and discussion the longer it goes on, will be in there regularly trying to help get the ball rolling

    February 12 01:34 PM
  • Voivod Fair enough, I just thought I should make you aware of it :)
    February 7 07:52 AM
  • Voivod Hey man how is it going? I just stumbled upon this news and I think it will be good material for "Sputnik Discusses" - http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/thr-esq/big-shake-up-music-licensing-770512
    February 7 05:55 AM
  • Arcade I think topics of that ilk would be nice breathers between the more protracted and in-depth topics for discussion. Certainly, having a few weeks of more fluffy stuff (favourite summer record, favourite record to listen to on a holiday, etc.) would slide nicely between the more hefty points of discussion. It's working out really nicely so far, so I would definitely encourage you to continue running with what you've got so far :p
    February 6 04:24 AM
  • Arcade an idea for the discussion segment; famous artists from your home town? i think it would make for an interesting seeing how certain cities take pride in their musical heritage.

  • Green Baron davey boy, how has it been
    December 6 12:19 AM
  • Fugue Relegation? Mate if you don't make Europe I don't know what's gone wrong! Clyne looking good for England and all, got a few Sint's mates who are proper chuffed at the moment, and I'd suspect you are too. How's life?
    November 18 06:45 PM
  • ExplosiveOranges Ah. Good to know you're still alive and kicking. Don't you go Emeritus on me, ya hear?
    November 17 07:35 PM
  • SowingSeason Miss you around these parts Davey, hope you return soon to review pop and indie with me!
    September 26 05:37 AM
  • ExplosiveOranges You still there, man?
    September 24 02:31 PM
  • Fugue Ahh Saint's'll be fine. Shaped up into a decent transfer window after all imo. Seen Anberlin yet? I'd be interested in your thoughts of the performance. Maybe you could make a list of something...
    September 7 05:30 AM
  • HBFS Ah that sucks! Hopefully you get back into it soon! And yeah, the pies were decimated this year. It's been okay for me though as I've been travelling this year and didn't have to stay in Melbourne where it's all I would hear about!
    September 3 10:26 AM
  • HBFS Hey Davey! Long time no talk, mate. I'm sure you're very happy with your Kangas making the finals. As a Collingwood supporter I can say that I'm gutted with how our season turned out. Time to focus on EPL now for me, haha. Hope all is well!
    August 30 02:16 PM
  • tempest-- are you still alive and kicking, Davey?? idk if you jam Kate Miller-Heidke but she released a new album a little while ago and it's a cracker! worth a listen or two
    August 19 11:57 AM
  • Fugue Made a fantasy team about a month ago and will join the league, although having just logged in I've realised about half my team is now injured so I can't promise to be any meaningful competition though! Lets all hope Southampton smash Liverpool tomorrow though, eh?
    August 16 04:58 PM
  • Fugue I know exactly what you mean in terms of going off music, although I have nothing like computer problems or a newly born daughter as an excuse so I'm worrying it might be permanent. I'm doing okay thank you, although my life in general seems to be stalling somewhat.. I'm hoping to get back on track by getting a new job but the process is just a pain in the ass.
    August 16 04:57 PM
  • AliW1993 Cautiously optimistic about Newcastle. We've done some excellent business, but we still look a little light up front, and the defense is worrying. Should get top half minimum though.
    August 16 06:05 AM
  • AliW1993 I think you'll be alright, the remainder of the squad is much better than most seem to realise, and you've made some decent signings (though 12m for Shane Long is laughable). Mid-table, maybe top half at a push.
    August 16 06:03 AM
  • AliW1993 Will do. How are you feeling about Southampton this year?
    August 14 12:56 PM
  • Fugue How's it going AussieBoy?
    August 8 06:08 PM
  • Thunderkat I have a question, is there a possibility to change my Username? Oh would I have to make a new profile? How does that work? Thank you!
    July 18 12:13 AM
  • SuperstitionFantasy Hey, I was wondering if you could give an opinion on the new Blood on the Dance Floor album? It'd be awesome to see your take on it because I may have rated my review too high. :P
    June 10 10:40 PM
  • Douglas No worries mate, that would be driving me crazy! Hope life is treating you grand my friend!
    May 6 06:01 PM
  • Douglas hey mate, hows life? just a quick one. The band I gig with in melbs just released an EP, any chance you want to have listen and chuck some words on it? It's a john mayer/josh pyke vibe http://paulreid.bandcamp.com/album/vines

    April 24 04:08 PM
  • Brostep Thanks! Same here, sitting pretty up there with my favorite releases of 2014 thus far.
    April 5 07:28 PM
  • cryptside hey friend, if you don't mind checking out my latest review, I would really appreciate any feedback. no worries if not! :)
    April 1 02:38 PM
  • schoonda If you're interested, Ceres debut is out now.http://hobbledehoy.bandcamp.com/album/i-dont-want-to-be-anywhere-but-here
    March 24 07:55 AM
  • Thunderkat Just curious, how does one become staff?
    March 23 02:14 AM
  • Fugue Can never get profile pics to work properly... managed to get this one working though so that's a plus. Cuter chick too.
    March 19 06:57 PM
  • Fugue Hey StaffyBoy, do you know if user name change thingymajigs are or ever have been a thing. Mine's a bit immature for my liking these days, what with me being a stand up member of the community and all that.
    March 18 07:53 PM
  • ASnideReturns Haha, yeahh it's a doozy lol.
    March 17 11:47 AM
  • ASnideReturns Hey Davey, I'm kinda interested in hearing what you think about my review - http://www.sputnikmusic.com/review/61473/Black-Veil-Brides-Set-The-World-On-Fire/
    March 16 06:56 PM
  • Waior wanna hear your thoughts, mate. you were properly constructive last time: calebmcalpine.bandcamp.com
    March 15 05:03 AM
  • Guzzo10 Thank you sir! And yeah, that's understandable from your point of view. For me, On the Impossible Past was as close to a classic as possible. Maybe its an American thing, I dunno haha.
    March 14 02:25 PM
  • Guzzo10 Hey, I know we've never really conversed before, but you've always been one of my favorite reviewers here. Probably because of your taste for the same alt rock/pop-punk as me, but I was wondering if you could hook me up with some recs. Along the lines of Menzingers/TSSF/Captain, We're Sinking if you could. Also, thoughts on Menzingers upcoming LP?
    March 14 01:34 AM
  • schoonda 150 minutes, that's cutting it a 'little' short from the promised 3 hours is it not? I still found it ridiculous to give them 3 in the first place, surely 2 would be good enough? I think the main reason I didn't see them is because of the downward slope they have been on, I made an assumption that they'd play quite an amount of their new albums, which I have never really taken any interest in. Also, I really didn't want to miss the Jason Butler show that is letlive.
    March 4 05:22 PM
  • schoonda Was it just me or was the sound a bit dodgy on that stage? When I was watching Finch the sound seemed quite off. I don't find that surprising, still a very young band I guess. How was Green Day? I don't think I could have lasted that 3 hour set!
    March 3 07:52 PM
  • schoonda You got a lot more out of my day than I did thats for sure. How was The Story So Far? Wanted to check them out but my mate wanted to see another band. I thought AFI put on a pretty good set, managed to see a teacher from my old high school in the moshpit!
    March 3 05:59 AM
  • schoonda Glad you enjoyed them, caught the last 15 minutes of their set, was happy. Who else did you catch?
    March 2 05:17 PM
  • AliW1993 Ha! I absolutely despise Allardyce, but he knows how to conduct himself on the touchline... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S9k4zvAEFc0
    March 2 07:06 AM
  • AliW1993 Yeah I can definitely see him being hit for the rest of the season, especially since he was warned over his future conduct less than two months ago. I don't think there's any question of it being premeditated to be honest; he clearly just can't control himself on the touchline. Don't get me wrong, it looks bad and sends out a terrible message... though as a fan of the club I found him calling Pellegrini a "****ing old ****" equally, if not more embarrassing.
    March 1 09:26 PM
  • AliW1993 I've kind of got mixed feelings about it all. Obviously he's completely in the wrong and deserves a ban and fine, but for me the whole thing's been blown out of proportion. Personally I don't think the punishment should be any worse than for a player, but of course the problem now is that he can't really discipline the squad having done that himself. All a bit of a mess...
    March 1 08:55 PM
  • TooLateToGoBack They should, hah. It's everything Killing Time was, but better.
    February 22 09:55 PM
  • schoonda I'd struggle to describe it well. My music knowledge isn't quite as extensive as yours, however on the reviews page of their unearthed page, Stu Harvey of JJJ describes them as " Blurring the lines of rock, punk and grunge, Ceres is worth checking out if you're a fan of Daylight, Balance and Composure". So if thats your thing, probably worth checking out.
    February 19 06:19 PM
  • schoonda Davey! Have you heard of Melbourne band Ceres? They are playing the unearthed set at Melbourne SW, I have a feeling you'd really enjoy their stuff.
    February 19 06:23 AM
  • TooLateToGoBack That new Bayside record is so damn good. Probably their magnum opus, imo. I don't think they'll ever make a "classic", and I'm okay with that, so this is the next best thing.
    February 18 11:03 PM
  • klap you doing jezabels right?
    February 17 02:10 PM
  • TooLateToGoBack Sweet, I'll give them a listen -- I also see they just released a new album; sound great from your review. Oh, and I wanted to also drop you a recommendation: http://oldmancanyon.bandcamp.com/Very good Canadian poppy-folk
    February 13 06:26 PM
  • ASnideReturns I thought I should bring this to your attention Davey - http://www.sputnikmusic.com/news/30091/Illumi-Naughty-Debut-Song/
    February 13 12:10 AM
  • LordePots ""lol no it's holy" says your 666th comment!!!" gonna have to let that just chill like that for a bit i think
    February 11 08:16 AM
  • WatchItExplode Did you at least get an advance copy? More Bayside by numbers?
    February 10 05:57 PM
  • WatchItExplode Hey Davey, are you gonna review the new Bayside soon?
    February 10 05:33 PM
  • TooLateToGoBack Also, shout spam, but great 2013 list. Props for placing Local Natives so high - they don't get the love they deserve here - or elsewhere, for that matter. I will say that your placement - and general inclusion of BVB is...questionable, hah.
    February 2 09:45 AM
  • TooLateToGoBack I recall ragging on The End - noting it was "sterile", especially for a group like The Jezabels, but I've definitely grown to really liking it a lot. I dunno, maybe it'll grow on me, and I'll end up really liking it 8 months later like that Misery Signals album from last year!
    February 2 09:43 AM
  • TooLateToGoBack The album definitely comes off like a slow burn - but I'm slowly warming up to it. I'm really enjoying the title track and Psychotherapy but each time I try and sit through the entire album -- all I really want to do is go back and listen to "Prisoner". It's a shame, cause "Prisoner" blew me away the first time I heard it - and still does to this day, but "The Brink" is just "okay" and pretty big disappointment the more I think about it.
    February 2 09:41 AM
  • skoopy48 You really need to hear the latest Life On Repeat album, it's right up your alley.
    January 28 10:48 PM
  • Ponton "river" is usually the attention grabber so give her a go: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T3k7ZC0-4qE
    January 24 09:51 PM
  • Ponton havent used torrents in years, may make an exception. also theres a chance you may like my dig/avatar/latest review. at the very least youll find a number of good tunes there.
    January 24 09:36 PM
  • iGuter Oh yeah, I read your review and I see our thoughts are pretty much identical.
    January 24 09:01 PM
  • schoonda had a few listens to a few of Living Colour's stuff on youtube, gotta say, pretty groovy, different to my usual style, but on the list for sure.
    January 24 06:44 AM
  • schoonda Sounds like a really cool style, I'll have a look, cheers mate.
    January 24 05:42 AM
  • schoonda Well you've got my attention now, I may have to check them out, what do they sound design like? Yes I believe that is correct actually, the video for that was released on their vevo Page the other day.
    January 24 05:10 AM
  • schoonda I'm still undecided on whether I want to go, would be keen to see glassjaw and letlive, however I think they might have a sideshow together (finch too maybe?) Never really got to check out Alter Bridge, haven't heard of Living Colour, worth checking out? Satellite was the first song they released, not sure if it was lead single.
    January 24 01:50 AM
  • schoonda Hmmm maybe I need to give it a couple more chances, I think when I first heard Satellite it really through me off, it just felt odd at first. That being said I really enjoy Think It Over. Also, are you going to SW this year?
    January 23 06:54 PM
  • iGuter I'm actually going to read your review after I write this. I actually thought Mind Over Matter was a step up from their last album in some ways, but not in every way. When Young the Giant said that the album was a more mature album, I completely agreed. I think it's also a more realized and truer album then the last and the so-called inconsistencies (that I really didn't have a problem with) are fixed in regards to the bitchy critics on their debut. But it is a bit too long.
    January 22 08:45 PM
  • TooLateToGoBack Listen to the new Jezabels record by any chance? I miss the epic and grandiose songs like "Prisoner" and "Hurt Me", which is disappointing, and I think songs like "Time To Dance" and "Beat to Beat" are straight up duds, for the most part. Maybe it's because of huge standard "Prisoner" set, or maybe it needs time to grow, but the album just isn't doing much for me :/
    January 21 07:30 PM
  • schoonda Still haven't properly checked that out yet either! If it makes you feel better Canterbury's only dropped a few days ago. However not too sure on it, it has a different sound from Heavy in the Day. Also, have you heard of Blitz Kids? Their new album would be up your alley I think.
    January 16 04:23 AM
  • schoonda heard Canterbury's latest? Haven't heard their first, but a big fan of Heavy in the Day, not too keen on the new album.
    January 15 11:58 PM
  • Omaha Hehe. The band actually emailed me! They liked my last review so much that they somehow found my personal Gmail account. ;] It's great stuff, man. I'll have a review up in about a week or so. Will we be getting a Davey review anytime soon?
