  • fromtheinside u thinkin of reviewing it? cause i think you should. it needs to get exposed for its brilliance.
    April 20 01:15 AM
  • fromtheinside game over death mask album of the year
    April 19 06:18 PM
  • greg84 Yeah. The new Lord Mantis is ace. Idk if I prefer it to Pervertor, though.
    April 17 08:00 AM
  • Graveyard I'll be putting out one more split and a remix album this year. Gonna take a break from the Volcanic Queen project for a while to focus more on family stuff. My daughter is already 6 months old.

  • Balerion did lord mantis leak?
    April 16 09:09 PM
  • R6Rider Ha, thanks! It only took me like 8 years lol
    April 15 10:28 PM
  • climactic i think i checked a song from impetuous ritual and dug it, i'll hop on that. other album looks sweet too. i tend to be wary of modern death metal stuff because theres a whole lot of s*** out there. thanks for the recs
    April 13 09:34 PM
  • Jacquibim Where did you get Impetuous Ritual's new album from??!!?
    April 10 03:25 AM
  • Inveigh maybe I just wasn't in the right mindset when I listened to it. plus i'm not much for the entire ambient genre in general, so my opinion was already bound to be a little jaded. i'll give it another shot when I really just want to chill out
    April 9 10:15 PM
  • Crysis Awesome, thanks man. Have him send it to sputnikreviews@gmail.com if he says yes, that's where Willie sorts through promos and posts them to Olympus.
    April 8 07:33 PM
  • Crysis That would be cool if you could tell him to send us the Agalloch promo haha
    April 8 09:46 AM
  • Voivod Yeah you are right about prog metal, most (if not all) bands are rehashing Rush's riff from the song "Natural Science".
    April 8 03:24 AM
  • Crysis read that earlier, trying to see if willie can get us a promo soon
    April 7 09:32 PM
  • emester I can definitely see where you are coming from with your opinion on the new Triptykon. I do agree that not many risks were taken with it, however I thought that it was just as great as their debut with the added bonus of being able to hold my interest longer at some points.
    April 7 09:02 PM
  • Voivod I agree about thrash being rehashed most of the time, but that applies for all rock/metal genres these days. On whole different note; Metal Hammer Greece listened to the new Dead Congregation album and wrote that's boundary breaking material.
    April 7 06:40 PM
  • Voivod I recently bought the debut Triptykon album and I can see what you mean. I'm absorbing the debut now, but I will definitely check the new Triptykon album. As for Reek, I know that thrash bores you, but just listen the second track from their album, just to take a flavor of the sound production. The best part is they are not signed to a label haha!
    April 7 07:44 AM
  • Funeralopolis Hey man I just started trying to learn how to edit music using Audacity. I made a short song using a snippet of an instrumental by Creatio Ex Nihilo as a first project. This is a big learning process but it is a lot of fun. I did the vocals, here is the song if you want to check it out: https://soundcloud.com/brandon-schauer-1/serpents-golden-crown
    April 6 09:13 PM
  • BMDrummer How come you have Through Silver in Blood only a 4/5 instead of the other Neurosis LPs? Most people, including me, say it's one of their best.
    April 6 05:15 PM
  • DarkNoctus http://en.metal-tracker.com/torrents/103687.html got mine here. it's a torrent but the files are safe, i scanned them. [:
    April 6 04:24 PM
  • DarkNoctus SO GOOD. i remember being blown away by the first triptykon record back in the day and that one keeps growing and growing with the years too, i have no doubt this one will as well! [:

    April 6 01:47 AM
  • Graveyard Hey man. That new track I uploaded isn't part of an EP or anything of that sort. So I'm having the mods taking it off. I'm really glad you enjoyed the track though and thanks for your support!
    April 4 07:48 PM
  • Voivod Don't mention it man. And about the 2sm I have to admit that after just one hasty listening session, I wasn't impressed by Psalm Zero, but as you know, one listen is no listen at all. Will pick up the album again in due time.
    April 1 04:30 AM
  • RiffOClock haha im way behind when it comes to new music, have listened to like 3 records from this year so far. and honestly, powerviolence is mostly dead anyway (sea of s*** is the only modern pv project worth anyone's attention IMO)
    March 31 04:22 AM
  • Jacquibim Sweet, got that Howls of Ebb album downloaded, just gotta listen now. I tried Coffinworm when it leaked but wasn't very impressed, might revisit.
    March 31 02:30 AM
  • BMDrummer Saw you just rated Mr. Bungle's S/T, check out California next. It's amazing.
    March 30 11:42 AM

    March 30 10:32 AM
  • Jacquibim Not bad, people seem to ask you what you think of x a fair bit more which is flattering. Wondering if you had any recs I might like from this year?

  • zaruyache Nop still don't like The Invisible Mountain that much. The instrumental side is great but I don't dig those vocals at all.
    March 27 10:17 PM
  • zaruyache Pfffffff. Honestly I haven't listened to that album in a long time and my ratings got nuked last year so I just put up a 3/5 because I couldn't remember what it was before :3 But I definitely liked their new metal-less album more than their older stuff.
    March 27 07:28 PM
  • zaruyache I gave the new Horseback a 4/5. Any recs for similar stuff? It's super chill and minimalistic and I love it.
    March 26 09:56 PM
  • Lucid glad to hear you came around, didn't expect that at all! and no need to apologize, I got madly defensive about the record last year haha
    March 26 06:48 AM
  • Crysis You'll have to ask our lord and saviors Jom, Willie and Deviant in the meds thread. I can't grant features.
    March 25 09:18 PM
  • ShadowRemains needs more hype, might be the best album out this year so far
    March 25 06:37 PM
  • ShadowRemains i did write that lol
    March 25 05:09 PM
  • SlMBOLlC Haha you can hear schuldiners riffing in most death metal : p but I'll give it a look

    March 24 09:20 PM
  • Relinquished yeah dude it's one of my early faves this year. when I have time I'll continue more metal volumes. since I'm creating them I'll have quality control which is important for this site.
    March 23 08:49 PM
  • Relinquished yeah that's a goddamn good record
    March 23 08:42 PM
  • Relinquished yeah I've heard one track and noticed it, it's a welcome change
    March 23 08:35 PM
  • Relinquished I forgot about them dude thanks for bringing them back to attention, gonna listen soon!
    March 23 08:13 PM
  • Tyrael I don't hear it but I'm not surprised you'd think that. To each his own :]
    March 23 06:53 PM
  • Tyrael Isn't every progressive band pretty much ripping off Death these days I mean cmon
    March 23 09:26 AM
  • Relinquished that's great news man, I don't get Decibel in Sweden. And yeah Lil Wayne did it cuz he's from NOLA. He makes horrible music but he's a smart guy, plus I think anyone would've wanted to help those suffering in their hometown.
    March 22 04:49 PM
  • Relinquished yeah not even through Lil Wayne's actual philanthropic aid for the city cured all the damage
    March 22 11:32 AM
  • Relinquished And anything with a Godflesh presence is welcome by me. I think we are like the biggest fans of them on this site haha. If only Broadrick gets off his lazyass and gets going with that new record!
    March 22 11:25 AM
  • Relinquished My favourite lines off of Heathen would be from "At the Foot of Mt. Driskill" right after the crescendo leading to my favourite riff when he painfully reflects "Vanquished are the fires in the eyes of the friends I knew. Just as they are deafened to my wasted breaths." It spoke to me cuz anyone can relate after seeing the people they know get eroded by life.
    March 22 11:23 AM
  • Relinquished I completely understand the winter sentiment. I used to love it for about a year and a half when i moved near Stockholm since it was a change from 20 years living in Florida, but my love for the snow soon melted away through my frustrations haha.
    March 22 11:20 AM
  • Relinquished lol dude you are too funny. personally the band's main appeal with me comes from the lyrics and I think Heathen has some of their best so far. zero fantasy, romantic metaphors, violent imagery, it's just pure ****ing real talk.
    March 22 09:48 AM
  • zaruyache I dunno man. I wanted to like the instrumental side of the new Twilight but my rip sounded thin. I'm going to try and check out the Pitchfork stream and see if the quality there is any better. Right now it doesn't seem nearly as clean as their last album, though.
    March 21 11:56 PM
  • Relinquished you'd think there'd be a difference if you listen to it while following along with the lyrics, if you haven't done so already?
    March 21 10:36 PM
  • Insurrection lol theres no ass kissing with a contrib tag but i get what you mean. youve been around for so long you really dont need a tag to get respect.
    March 20 10:20 AM
  • Relinquished fair enough bro, either I'm just a real fan of sloooooooow music or it's me with the recent listens while bongripping that I don't notice hahaha
    March 20 09:11 AM
  • Relinquished bro pls admit u weren't in the mood when you spun Heathen
    March 19 11:07 PM
  • Crysis Yes you are! Hahaha I enjoyed it but thought their other LPs were better.
    March 19 07:57 PM
  • Insurrection id very much like to see your take on ASTNS and ToG. both could use better flagged reviews imo, not that theyre bad, it would just be nice for continuity if you had every neurosis flagged review :p and hell yeah man, underrated album. how come you never tried for contrib?
    March 19 01:16 PM
  • Insurrection hey you ever thought of reviewing the rest of neurosis' discog? lol. your reviews for given to the rising and souls are what convinced me to give the band a shot and thank **** for that man

    March 10 08:06 AM
  • R6Rider Thanks man. I know I've always been the musical noob compared to the rest of you guys but I'm cool with that haha.
    March 9 09:48 PM
  • R6Rider Thanks for the recs =)
    March 9 01:53 PM
  • R6Rider No prob. Honestly I'm not sure whether I like it or not. I've been more open to this kind of stuff lately though.

  • Voivod Thanks man, will investigate. I'm not sure how much you fancy funeral doom metal, but take the time (like whenever!), listen to this album and tell me what you think - http://shatteredhope.bandcamp.com/album/waters-of-lethe
    March 6 07:24 AM
  • Voivod i can't open the link, what's the name of the band?
    March 5 11:15 AM
  • Voivod Thanks man, will check the album asap and get back to you.
    March 5 11:03 AM
  • ChuckyTruant heheh i'm just messing around.
    March 5 09:52 AM
  • BigPleb Na man haha, was just exhausted and feeling a bit giddy haha.
    March 5 04:01 AM
  • zaruyache It is a pretty good album. I usually don't go for stuff labeled "DSBM" because most of it's pointlessly cheesy garbage, but that band really knows how to play.
    March 5 12:13 AM
  • zaruyache Heh heh Noctus was actually the one to show me My Useless Life. :3
    March 4 06:28 PM

  • Crysis that photo rustles my jimmies
    March 1 05:39 PM

    March 1 04:02 PM
  • DominionMM1 hey man, any recs along the line of invisible mountain?
    March 1 01:01 AM
  • Funeralopolis Just checked em out, yea they really do sound like they need vocals haha. I'll keep them in mind for sure.
    February 28 07:33 AM
  • Funeralopolis Thanks man. I have been doing harsh vocals for about 4 years but I've never had a band and have just always done lots of covers and I really want to try and start trying to write some of my own stuff to instrumentals (its a first step).
    February 27 10:14 PM
  • Funeralopolis It literally isn't produced I recorded it on my phone and posted it as was lol. I don't know anything about production or how to do it but I do need a better mic for sure. I chose Man Made God because it is normally an instrumental song and I felt like it could use some vocals so I wrote up some lyrics for it. My normal vocal style isn't anything like what you heard there though, I decided just to try it for that song. Thanks for giving a listen though.
    February 27 09:32 PM
  • Funeralopolis Sup. I (kind of) made my own first song ever! Did vocals and wrote lyrics for In Flames' song Man Made God. The recording is raw and done from a phone. However I was wondering if you could give it a listen, I value your opinion tbh. https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?v=452575078204661
    February 26 08:08 PM
  • Crysis Do yourself a favor and find the leak of the new Morbus Chron. Will change your life.
    February 25 02:26 PM
  • Jacquibim Perhaps I should rephrase my sound off, because by late-era Gorguts I was also including FWTH, not just the reunion sound. Gorguts is undoubtedly a pretty huge influence on them, even the band themselves state that.
    February 17 09:05 PM
  • Inveigh haha no doubt man, plus the timeframe when they were popular was when every metal band incorporated at least a LITTLE nu metal
    February 17 08:09 PM
  • Inveigh haha yeah I was gonna go Burn My Eyes, at the very least for nostalgia's sake. The Blackening is way overhyped. Through the Ashes of Empires is pretty solid though. I see what you're saying about the hardcore/punk aspects (and thrash/groove too). I only mentioned nu metal because of the semi-rapped (or just quickly delivered) vocals in some of the songs.
    February 17 02:50 PM
  • Inveigh Haha hell yeah man! Might even be my 2nd fav Machine Head. One of the better nu metallish records of that era. You should give it a review that does it justice.
    February 16 10:28 PM
  • Jacquibim Thanks man, and yeah, I'm trying to expand my horizons this year.
    February 15 09:34 PM
  • Voivod No I haven't listened to the album yet, but I will check it out.
    February 15 02:03 PM
  • Voivod I'm glad you liked it, and I should catch up with Agalloch, their new album is a good chance.
    February 15 01:48 PM
  • Voivod Hey Wizard, what's up my friend? I think this is up your alley - http://nasheim.bandcamp.com/album/solens-vemod
    February 14 03:24 PM
  • Hyperion1001 thanks a bunch dude, hopefully i can bring some new flavor to the staff crowd. as for ambient recs the best thing ive heard recently is Steve Moore's Light Echoes, some old berlin school worship. not 5/5 but pretty good, especially the second track
    February 13 08:57 PM
  • Gwyn. Haha, thanks on both accounts. Yea I love that Daughters album, I listened to it nonstop in january
    February 13 01:44 PM

    February 13 02:04 AM
  • Atari Haha thanks for the tip man
    February 12 09:39 PM
  • Crysis Will do, thanks for the recs
    February 12 08:45 PM
  • Rowan5215 I know what you mean. I've never listened to Gorguts in my life so I can't comment on the album but a lot of the users do seem to have that "can-do-no-wrong" attitude about it.
    February 12 03:49 PM
  • Rowan5215 Hah yeah man, although I know Pleb likes it almost as much as I do. I don't listen to metal all that much so my tastes are at odds with Sputnik's more often than not, so I do know the feeling and I'm pretty used to having semi-serious discussions/arguments with those blokes. But still, thank you man
    February 11 09:50 PM
  • Crysis That's ****ing hilarious and awesome, good for you man. Exmotus was awesome, they put on a great show and really cared about being good live. Talked with them at the merch table after their set, good guys.
    February 10 08:38 PM
  • Crysis When I saw them a few years ago on their We Are The Void tour they played in a bar and I had a drink with Stanne. You get to meet them?
    February 10 11:22 AM
  • Crysis I just saw them last night in Worcester MA. Absolutely ****ing incredible. You'll love the show.
    February 5 10:51 AM
  • Graveyard I will have physical copies sometime in the near future.
    February 5 09:30 AM
  • Graveyard My new album dude. Feel free to listen, download, donate, etc. https://volcanicqueen.bandcamp.com/album/faith-in-desire
    February 4 11:06 PM
  • Hyperion1001 id them cause the database on sputnik isnt very good at all and im a fiend for accurate cataloging so i just decided to move everything over the RYM and stop worrying about over here (cause the ratings and stuff never matched up). im pretty sure im on ur friends list at RYM too. and hell yeah dude microcosmos is easily my fav drudkh and thats saying something when you have releases like autumn aurora under youre belt haha
    February 4 10:11 PM
  • Metalstyles Alright, I'll keep that in mind. There's just a ton of albums I want to check out at this moment, so I won't be hurrying with Tempel, but if I ever get curious I'll give it a go.
    February 4 09:07 AM
  • fromtheinside tell me that new chevy song DOESNT rock o it, i dare u
    February 4 02:29 AM
  • Metalstyles Oh and real good to know about Tempel - they were on my list of things to check out.
    February 3 09:18 PM
  • Metalstyles That does make sense. To me some of the riffs seemed really doom-y, if anything, but there's a lot of post-rock in there too, so I can see how you can also call it post-metal as a whole.
    February 3 09:17 PM
  • Metalstyles Oh and fyi, your soundoff for Tempel probably got erased because there was a merging of the pages - your soundoff was probably on the page that was merged/erased because one of them was miss-spelt.
    February 3 08:06 PM
  • Metalstyles I wouldn't call it post-metal myself, but I'm real glad you enjoyed it in any case!
    February 3 08:03 PM
  • Jacquibim I know right? Dynamics and bass in a Behemoth album?!
    February 1 07:24 AM
  • Jacquibim You digging the new Behemoth man? I think it might just be my favourite of theirs.
    February 1 07:13 AM
  • Jacquibim Getmetal.org, it's a good blog to follow if you want to keep up with the bigger releases in the metal scene.
    January 31 07:21 AM
  • GnarlyShillelagh Jeez that was a good ass album... I need to listen to it a few more times but I'm definitely hooked. That first song was incredible!
    January 31 12:58 AM
  • GnarlyShillelagh Damn Wiz, I should really stop being so lazy
    January 31 12:58 AM
  • GnarlyShillelagh yeah they've been up on my list. I listened to the first track or two of bergtatt a while back and i really dug it so now it's just a matter of me not being lazy lol
    January 30 04:15 PM
  • evilford I live in Iowa. honestly I like it, it's a pretty nice place but the weather is dumb
    January 30 11:01 AM
  • BigPleb Sucks dude, happened to a couple of other users too.
    January 30 07:36 AM
  • BigPleb I didn't dude, there was a coding error on my ratings and they were wiped. Jom confirmed :(
    January 30 07:32 AM
  • GnarlyShillelagh I've been planning on revisiting the split actually because I really really dug the third track on it and I worry that I was maybe a little harsh on it. I really loved Messe! I've never listened to any other ulver though so what do I know hehehe
    January 30 03:02 AM
  • evilford also yeah I did know that about demilich. been too busy to check it out lately but pretty damn excited to get around to it.
    January 29 01:14 PM
  • evilford no worries dude, you don't owe me a review or anything haha. just figured you'd be the right person for the job. I know what you mean about winter; this winter has been the coldest I've ever experienced. we've had two different days in the last month where the wind chill was -50 F. don't you guys get a break from winter weather eventually?
    January 29 01:14 PM
  • JamieTwort Yeah I've applied so fingers crossed. Haha, thanks dude.

  • Crysis I never changed my rating for the Drudkh album haha. Yeah new M8L8TH rules, it's different than their past stuff but in a good way. A lot more clean vocals but also some killer riffage.
    January 26 07:49 PM
  • Inveigh oh damn, I didn't know that about Dead Congregation. Badass. I checked out the Incendium, I need to give it more spins but dug it the first time around.
    January 25 05:27 PM
  • Crysis M8L8TH is the spelling of the band's name in the latin alphabet. Since the band is Russian, it should be spelled in the cyrillic alphabet.
    January 25 10:01 AM
  • Crysis I think this may interest you: http://ghostsofsaturn.blogspot.com/2014/01/88-2013.html

    January 24 12:19 AM
  • Inveigh what's up Wiz! how's that Burial Hordes album? seems like something I would dig but wondering if they're just another band doing the whole osdm meets oppressive atmosphere thing or if they bring something unique to the table
    January 23 09:02 PM
  • Jacquibim Nice, you should check out this album called "Sinister Ceremonies" by Domians, real filthy old school death metal I have a feeling you'll really like it.
    January 23 07:37 PM
  • ChuckyTruant **** you.
    January 23 03:28 PM
  • Metalstyles Hey man, did you ever check out that Kauan album? I'm going to be honest, I'm not sure if it's your kind of thing at all, but seeing as you had it downloaded and it was my aoty last year, I'd be interested in what you have to say about it.
    January 23 12:46 PM
  • Jacquibim What's crackin yo?
    January 23 08:09 AM
  • osmark86 damn son, that's quite the extensive list. should keep me occupied for some time. thanks mate.

  • osmark86 you never sent it ;), so unfortunately I haven't had the pleasure yet. Check out their 2013 album Henbane. it's bloody delicious. another tip is Arcana Coelestia for that sweet doom if you haven't already snuffed it out.
    January 22 08:00 AM
  • osmark86 yo, did you ever check out Cultes Des Ghoules' album Henbane? if not, you've been missing out.
    January 22 03:46 AM
  • ChuckyTruant I really need to document all the ass backward things you say.
    January 21 11:26 PM
  • Crysis Hahaha good point indeed. However, I'm confident Drudkh still have a lot to offer.
    January 21 08:11 PM
  • Crysis I thought the covers were good but I more or less agree with you about Eastern Frontier In Flames.
    January 21 07:55 PM
  • Crysis here's some new filthy dm for you: http://ghostsofsaturn.blogspot.com/2014/01/innsmouth-consumed-by-elder-sign-2014.html

  • SitarHero None taken. :-) Periphery seems to bring the worst out of everyone on Sputnik. It's a fascinating phenomenon.
    January 21 08:29 AM
  • osmark86 btw, Two Hunters is bloody brilliant. ain't no shame in loving that album ^^
    January 21 07:36 AM
  • osmark86 I guess it would just be in the back of my head whilst listening which would irrevocably spoil part of the experience. especially considering some stories of racial murder in Russia by people who support the same movement. either way you wrote a solid review for it, so have a pos!
    January 21 07:33 AM
  • osmark86 by the way, I mean that in no offense towards you what so ever. it's just my personal leaning, and I don't judge anyone for listening to NSBM.
    January 21 04:24 AM
  • osmark86 sweet dude. I've actually heard all those albums and I really dig them all, so more of that! I'd love to check out your list btw, please send it over ^^. as much as I'd love to listen to M8L8th I just really, really, really ****ing hate these neo-nazi scumbags and I don't really want to support them in any way. normally I don't give a rat's ass about the political leanings of various bands (Burzum for one I'm willing to throw a blind eye to), but seriously, **** these ****s.
    January 21 04:18 AM
  • Voivod I liked what I've liistened to, but it was a hasty listen nonetheless. As long as the stream is active, I will keep visiting it.
    January 21 02:24 AM

    January 18 05:39 PM
  • TheSlenderMan Definitely, I threw in a "wham bam thank you mam" in my first review for this account and I will continue to throw comedic jabs any chance I get.

    January 16 08:36 AM
  • Jacquibim Very surprised considering the amount of s*** you give some users lol
    January 15 10:02 PM
  • Essence I'm doin pretty all right I'd say. you could say my life was at a standstill for awhile but its got direction again. wouldnt say im that much of a metalhead anymore but you know how it goes, tends to be a mood thing now. how about you?
    January 15 02:16 PM
  • Jacquibim it's on the banned users thread "page breaks and big red text". Thing is, the post(s) that got me banned were 3 weeks old at the time, leading me to suspect pleb just reported them because he was butthurt over a difference of opinion lol
    January 15 07:23 AM
  • Voivod I hear you man, band is solid and that's an understatement on my behalf.
    January 8 02:27 AM

    January 6 05:43 PM
  • NocteDominum far from what most older listeners? should expect but with music like that there?s really no need to deviate or experiment with what they have.
    January 6 05:43 PM
  • NocteDominum List deadline was yesterday, I'm thinking a Karl V. H. feat. (me) blurb first of it's kind.
    January 6 05:42 PM
  • NocteDominum Hey dude, I need you to get back to me ASAP!! Was wondering if you'd be up for writing a Carcass blurb for the users 2013 list
    January 6 05:14 PM
  • Eunuch did you really say His Majesty at the Swamp was boring as s***? Are you out of your mind? Give it another listen, preferably in the summer. There is nothing like it.
    January 6 04:36 PM
  • Butkuiss Glad you appreciate it, dude. I'd advise against watching the actual video its from but as long as I can give sputnik users the unimpressed glare I need to with my avatar, I will.
    January 6 01:28 AM
  • Butkuiss It's a screencap from a video on porn.com that I feel perfectly describes my reaction to the sputnikmusic community.
    January 5 09:35 AM
