  • DoofusWainwright New list up, rec me something classic, I know you will
    September 20 03:56 PM
  • ONEPUNCHMAN It is done, and it is bad lol
    September 18 04:15 PM
  • TwigTW Not sure why, but he's skipping Boston . . . You'll have to let me know how the show goes.
    September 16 02:51 PM
  • TwigTW You're in for a great King Crimson show! . . . I didn't know Martin Barre was touring. I'm guessing the set will be Tull heavy, sounds interesting.
    September 16 08:21 AM
  • Friday13th I just added the Who. I wanted you to question your sanity! ;)
    September 15 02:35 PM
  • Friday13th Love the Who, I have Quadrophenia at 4.5. Not enough room last I tried adding artists but yeah, they'd be up there.
    September 15 09:01 AM
  • Jethro42 lol the preliminaries I sent to you belong to the brand new tournament. It's already on the new lists. They're running fast! Cheers!
    September 11 06:54 PM
  • Jethro42 Yeah dude, that's it. And there is only one winner, one second place, two semi-finalists and four second tier. And if ever you need the global informations, consult the preliminaries right here (read the first comment); http://www.sputnikmusic.com/list.php?memberid=732569
    September 11 06:42 PM
  • Jethro42 ...And if ever you're eliminated in the first round (let say)...well everything continue to work in the sense that you continue to vote for the upcoming contestants.
    September 11 03:51 PM
  • Jethro42 You only have to choose an obscure, unknown or overlooked prog album that has 20 votes or under, and when Friday13th will set the table, you will have to make a short description about the reasons why you love your album. Tournament will progress by elimination, one against one all the time.
    September 11 03:43 PM
  • Jethro42 Gotcha, my friend Hahaha cool story! I figured it was a joke or a sort of story telling segment. So yes, tock tock, -Who's this- ''Jethro sent me'' ( pass word to access the tournament) :D
    September 11 03:03 PM
  • butcherboy hahaha, cheers.. my phone glitched last night and posted a list under both accounts somehow..
    September 11 03:02 PM
  • Jethro42 Hey bud! Friday13th is preparing another of his prog tourneys. Would you be interested to be a part of it? Please, apply here. http://www.sputnikmusic.com/list.php?listid=166576
    September 11 11:17 AM
  • LandDiving of course diva :] and it happens to everyone! for what it's worth you couldn't tell reading it, and the context you provided felt both important and well-put! keep it up!
    September 8 12:07 AM
  • DoofusWainwright Is this like Fight Club? Is this why I feel so tired? I'm Doof...but I'm also Compost. A double life. A living nightmare.

  • DeadlyNightShade In case you wanna see my 1 year list man here you go!http://www.sputnikmusic.com/list.php?listid=176835
    August 25 02:18 PM
  • Dewinged My father just used to bomb me with Led Zep and Beatles since I was a kid so I got those songs carved in my brain haha
    August 23 08:33 PM
  • Dewinged Another one I would like to see live would be Led Zep! Stairway live would probably be the death of me.
    August 22 11:45 PM
  • TwigTW I know. I should be used to it by now.
    August 22 04:38 PM
  • SowingSeason ty copy pasta-ing that verbatim
    August 22 04:21 PM
  • SowingSeason correct
    August 22 04:20 PM
  • TwigTW ...if only they could all bet together in one band it would be great!
    August 22 04:02 PM
  • TwigTW They actually did play Boston this year, but they were mixed in with the Boston Calling festival and I missed it--next time . . . I see two versions of Yes are touring at the same time (The Steve Howe version, and an Anderson/Wakeman version). They both use the name Yes, and they both play here within days of each other! What a mess.
    August 21 11:48 AM
  • LandDiving all good, diva. you bring some really positive vibes to the site and i appreciate ya
    August 19 11:42 PM
  • TwigTW Most bands come to Boston Diva, so I've been lucky to see them all. I'm still waiting for Bjork and Portishead. They're definitely on my bucket list, Sigur Ros too. I'd say Father John Misty, but I'm seeing him in September. Also, I'd put The Smiths on the list even though I've seen them. They are the one band that I need to see one more time! Sadly, anyone else I would put on the list has passed, so there is no chance of seeing them.
    August 19 10:28 AM
  • Jethro42 It's normal, bro. Even if English is not my mother tongue, it's easy to see, you're a good writer and you would absolutely deserve it, since you're open to review new releases...Chances are on your side. Cheers!
    August 18 10:00 PM
  • butcherboy goddamn, you're right.. are you going to write one up soon?
    August 18 05:07 PM
  • TwigTW I did! I saw Till Tuesday and the Cars many times in bars around Boston before they even had albums out. Rush twice: A Farewell to Kings, and the Moving Pictures tours. Pink Floyd twice: the Animals Tour, and The Wall. The Smiths on the Meat is Murder tour. and Joni Mitchell at The Concerts On the Commons. Although... she only sang three songs then ended the concert in a huff because she didn't think the audience was quiet enough--so I don't know if that actually counts as seeing her, lol.
    August 18 04:28 PM
  • DeadlyNightShade Anytime man, and sweet how you liking the site man? I've been a lurker for like 3 years but jsut decided to join this past year.
    August 18 12:53 PM
  • Conmaniac no prob my man! feels like youve been here way longer tho (:
    August 18 12:52 PM
  • Drifter Ok (:
    August 18 12:47 PM
  • macman76 green baron answered your question in the comments
    August 16 11:19 PM
  • Rowan5215 I pretty much know the entire plot already due to bitter fans on reddit, so I'm not expecting to be anything close to surprised - mainly just going to see how Elba and McConaughey handle the lead roles in it. I'm way more excited for the Wizard and Glass TV show they've been teasing, that has the potential to be amazing
    August 10 11:16 PM
  • Rowan5215 it hasn't arrived in Australia yet! I'm still going to go in with an open mind and all but those early reviews have not encouraged hope
    August 10 09:44 PM
  • e210013 Sorry that I answer only now, but I was in vacations for three weeks. I'm always very enthusiastic with all new releases from this band. I'm a great fan of them. But I was also a bit deceptioned with some of their previous releases. I'm going to order the album to my usual supplier, very soon. Thanks for share with me yuor feelings about the album.
    August 7 09:51 AM
  • TwigTW Thanks! I'll check it out.
    August 4 10:32 AM
  • DoofusWainwright Thanks, appreciate that. I'll put up a list celebrating the event at some point, probably when I get back from honeymoon. Last thing I want to do is upset the wife by spending an hour putting up a sputnik list the day after getting hitched!
    July 31 05:56 AM
  • Jethro42 I just bumped it for a 4.5. What prevented me to giving it that score is that one of my favorite moment of the album seems to be taken from Camel's Stationary Traveller's t/t. Album is so inspired overall that I had to get over it. The segment I'm talking about is the instrumental break - piano/electric guitar in the middle of the 1st track. Also, the vocals of the second track remind me of some Who, but there's no rip off this time. Both cases influenced me to give a 4 at first.
    July 28 04:48 PM
  • DoofusWainwright Good luck getting contrib, you've certainly done enough to deserve it
    July 28 03:42 PM
  • DoofusWainwright Nice, I'd like to read more about him, seems an intriguing character
    July 28 03:41 PM
  • Jethro42 Album is incredible indeed. They are pretty much back to their roots when it comes to folk rock with a huge accent of progressive rock influenced by Pink Floyd. Only the Celtic arrangements are gone. I think it's your first step into Mostly Autumn, so I invite you to visit their first three albums to see where they're coming from. Band cannot do wrong, so happy listening!
    July 28 02:05 PM
  • DoofusWainwright I'll check more of the rabbi's efforts one day...just not today, or tomorrow, or the day after. But soon.
    July 26 08:50 AM
  • SteakByrnes Yea for sure, I'd love to go see them again
    July 26 04:26 AM
  • SteakByrnes That was a nice write up and I agreed with most of it. PVRIS playing Fire and then Smoke really made me happy, and Muse played one hell of a show. They had the best effects of any band that I've seen live by far, and like you said, Matt sounds just as he does in the studio. And I'm not the biggest fan of the song Drones, but the album itself I liked. Their only album I didn't like was 2nd Law to be honest, but it's cool that we both enjoyed the show
    July 25 11:47 PM
  • SowingSeason ha, thanks. I guess I have to start looking at it as, "I made it to -x- years"
    July 25 01:16 PM
  • butcherboy okay, so I've been listening to the Gangster Rabbi and I am as confused as you are.. he is grotesque, but strangely appealing.. I really don't know what to think.. there is definitely an unhinged moment to him that I really like..
    July 23 11:11 PM
  • butcherboy i'll check it out tonight, Diva..
    July 23 01:04 PM
  • LandDiving Thank you diva! Appreciate it mate :)
    July 9 11:52 PM
  • butcherboy thanks very much, Diva..
    July 9 10:12 AM
  • e210013 Yeah, the site is a bit strange in the last times. I'm glad you bought a copy of it. I must do the same, one of these days.
    June 26 09:29 AM
  • e210013 Yeah, I suggested that. I already knew they had a new album. I'm really a great fan of them, especially of some of their albums. It seems you added the album already. Great, man.
    June 25 06:16 PM
  • wham49 I'll think about it, I have others I wanted to do at some point, but I wouldnt mind doing it, let me listen to them again, and I will get one out in the next week or so
    June 20 11:54 PM
  • Wright Thanks for the kind comment! Look forward reviews soon ;)

  • RexKwonDoCarrey No disrespect intended, but you said you would gift wrap her for me, you know? "Halsey" so I've been waiting...
    June 7 02:30 AM
  • LandDiving i definitely agree with not loving every track but still being blown away by it. i'm going to try and listen to the whole thing soon, but i'm gonna need to put aside more time and attention than i usually do bc the thing is a behemoth haahha. thanks for helping me educate myself on the classics, diva
    June 6 07:50 AM
  • LandDiving i can see where you're coming from. i'm at track 5 right now and the sequencing really does make it feel like there's a cohesive, multi-dimensional narrative forming
    June 5 10:36 AM
  • LandDiving i like King Crimson a lot, but i haven't yet listened to The Who properly. i understand Tommy kinda pioneered the concept album?? if that's the case i'm excited to listen because some of favourite albums are like that. will check now
    June 5 10:04 AM
  • LandDiving I'm at that point in my youth now, I think, where I'm beginning to go through some older classics and actually enjoy them. i guess it just means that any help i can get is important so if you have any more reccs let me know!
    June 4 10:47 PM
  • LandDiving We're Only In It For the Money is insanely good. dunno why i've ignored Zappa this long. thanks diva
    June 3 07:40 AM

    April 14 04:37 PM

    April 14 03:35 PM
  • Titan please review Keystudio
    April 13 07:44 PM
  • Jethro42 Whoa man, thanks for showing me these guys. I listened to their last album and I love what I've heard. They are really centered around jazz, but they're so ecclectic, it makes forget the jazz leanings. They have hints of some bands I'm familiar with, such as Zappa, Univers Zero, The Tangent and Echolyn. They all flirt with jazz, but they all expand their horizon further still.I will listen to everything Frogg (Progg) Cafe did. Thanks again! Cheers!
    March 20 10:19 PM
  • DoofusWainwright It might not stay on a 5 but Zappa has grown on me a lot over the last two years. Never realised he was THIS anti the hippy movement, pretty scathing stuff throughout.
    March 20 02:58 PM
  • Jethro42 Here I have something still better than my first rec. It's a coincidence if it's still Italian stuff. It's still modern prog, but it's way more accessible and harmonious. Ingranaggi Della Valle is harder to digest with all its tempo shifts, odd time signatures and complexity. I'm pretty sure you will enjoy this one more; One of the numerous projects by Fabio Zuffanti; https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uKOK_SxoguI
    March 18 03:51 PM
  • Dewinged Haha nice Diva, really happy you liked it. Great album man.
    March 18 07:17 AM
  • e210013 Once again thanks, man.
    March 16 11:28 AM
  • e210013 Thanks for the info, buddy. I know the band already but still I don't listen to that album yet. I like the band very much and you're right they're a heavy melodious band with Celtic elements, very prog. Anyway, thanks.
    March 16 05:49 AM
  • Jethro42 Nice try and thanks anyway Divaman, but except for song/segments reminiscent of Blackmore's Night, it's not really my thing. I don't like their sound. Not enough ''natural''. In the genre, I prefer bands such as Symphony X or Kamelot. I for myself suggest you a superb Italian. eclectic prog rock album released by Ingranaggi Della Valle - Warm Spaced Blue. They're a bit inspired by Anglagard, but they have their own personality.
    March 15 07:05 PM
  • DoofusWainwright I've heard of them and must know a few songs by then but I haven't actively checked them out, what's their best album?
    March 13 04:04 AM
  • theBoneyKing Their Waiting For the Dawn album I find fairly decent - Kids in Love is just so painfully saccharine and I find its lyrics pretty terrible. Different strokes, I guess.
    March 8 07:17 PM
  • butcherboy I tried Free Man in Paris.. I don't know, her voice is just so maudlin to me.. ended up listening to the kinks instead.. thanks though.. any other suggestions, throw them my way..
    March 6 08:54 PM
  • Dewinged You know what, maybe I gave her a 2 too cause in Spain we have them much worse. Check this out: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FuJh1gDL76s
    March 2 11:42 PM
  • Dewinged Hahaha agree in that she is a despicable succubus
    March 2 08:24 PM
  • Dewinged Oops that comment before was supposed to go to Doof lol I messed up, Anyway, Paris Hilton, couple of tracks in the first half are kinda catchy, if I didn't know it was her I could even like them! (:
    March 2 07:23 PM
  • Dewinged And 2 (Spanish joke :)
    March 2 10:58 AM
  • DoofusWainwright Diva we are always cool
    March 2 10:23 AM
  • DoofusWainwright Ha no, don't worry dude, I meant I was abusing all you lot with never ending Tiger Lillies reviews.
    March 2 10:08 AM
  • SowingSeason Reviewing new albums is definitely one aspect. You were definitely discussed at a couple of junctures, so my recommendation is to keep up the good work, focus on a few new releases, and apply again next time. Your work with the database and album adds/edits hasn't gone unnoticed by any of the mods, either.
    February 27 03:44 PM
  • SandwichBubble You lucky son of a gun! haha that's awesome. I just picked up some of his cds from some record store in the middle of nowhere around 2005.
    February 4 07:28 AM
  • SandwichBubble Damn shame, really glad he's back. And in such a substantial way too. Found "Demanding" and "The Natural Blues" in the garage yesterday. Forgot how good they were!
    February 3 02:30 PM
  • SandwichBubble Did he really truly release 3 albums last year? Guess I gotta go on a marathon haha
    February 3 11:40 AM
  • SandwichBubble I own that Preacher Boy album holy hell. I thought I was the only one on the site who even knew him. Thanks for adding it!
    February 2 01:00 PM
  • Totengott Forgot to rate it a while ago, I listened to it on my grandfather's sound system. He's been a fan of Tull since the early 70s. It's a nice record really.
    January 23 03:24 PM
  • DoofusWainwright I don't think so, heard something about some music vouchers once lol. Maybe I'm just not in the loop, but I wouldn't expect they get paid a great deal if anything.
    January 20 02:28 PM
  • DoofusWainwright Sounds like a plan, I came really late to Joni Mitchell but that album lives up to the hype. If you write the review I'll check that one by her next. 'Candy-O' the incentive is getting your name up early on the 'Albums Needing a Review 2017' list - there is no higher honour on Sputnik.com
    January 4 11:07 AM
  • DoofusWainwright I've had a few people say they agree with that Dylan description!
    December 20 03:41 PM
  • Jeffrulesyou I hear ya! There's a lot of classic albums on here that haven't been touched by any reviews. Keep em' coming I'll gladly check out your reviews for those great albums.
    December 19 07:51 AM
  • DoofusWainwright You loaded up all the albums by The Partridge Famiy - this sounds like grounds for you winning user of the year right there, stellar work. I was thinking of putting up the entire back catalogue of legendary Chinese singer Wing...
    December 18 05:31 PM
  • DoofusWainwright Listening to 1's isn't torture, it's hilarious. Plus for bad albums I usually only listen to a few full songs then scan listen the rest. I think 100% is impossible since they closed the 0.5 ratings other than for reviews. Otherwise maybe I need a few more 5s to improve my variance :/
    December 18 05:26 AM
  • TwigTW They have been on my list of bands to see since forever, and they did not disappoint... I will look for Shatner's "GKW". I'm sure it's a Christmas treat.
    December 14 10:03 PM
  • Jeffrulesyou Haven't listened to it yet, but I'm going to give it a spin. I'll check out your review when its ready of course! Kudos
    December 13 07:26 PM
  • DoofusWainwright No, just pure vanity ;D
    December 8 04:47 PM
  • DoofusWainwright The vocals are hilarious introspective crybaby Smiths style meets total goth groan. The music has some charm and strangely some of that charm then rubs off on the vox. Still poor overall though
    November 30 04:11 AM
  • DoofusWainwright I might be wrong, but I've just noticed how it's changed over time with my ratings. I've upped how many 1's and 5's I have proportionally over time and the objectivity got a lot higher
    November 29 01:05 PM
  • DoofusWainwright I'd say if you dished out twenty extra 1's and say ten more 1.5's you could painlessly increase your objectivity by 5%
    November 29 12:21 PM
  • DoofusWainwright Not 100% but I think you have to have as even a number of all rating values as possible, though if you are going to have more at any ratings they should be in the 2.5-3 bracket ideally. I think it might now be impossible to get 100% as users used to be able to use 0.5 ratings and now can't unless they request one for a review....so unless you review an equal proportion of 0.5's you're doomed to lower your objectivity. That's my guess anyway :D
    November 29 12:17 PM
  • DoofusWainwright Keep rec'ing me 1's - I need to keep my objectivity up in the high 90%s
    November 29 09:53 AM
  • DoofusWainwright Thanks for turning me on to the Dexiest album of 2016
    November 29 03:55 AM
  • e210013 I know that. What I wanted to say, sorry but English isn't my first language, is that when I review "Aqualung" we will be finally with the same opinion about the quality of a Tull's album, almost with the same rating. With the other two, we were in opposite fields.
    November 28 07:09 PM
  • SandwichBubble Hey no worries. I won't blast you too hard for it ;) And yeah, relistening to albums is a joy. Sometimes those albums can be goldmines (few of my 5s are previous 2.5 and unders). Not saying that's true for the new Dexy's, but you know: here's hoping!
    November 28 02:16 PM
  • SandwichBubble That's true I suppose. There is a degree of overlap (and I do like a lot of what you've rated/reviewed), but sometimes I just don't know about u. This Island a 3? Unacceptable lol :)
    November 28 01:46 PM
  • DoofusWainwright Ha, just saw the Enya beat 'Tallica comment. Perfect, what a match up.
    November 21 04:30 PM
  • TwigTW Sounds interesting, I'm always surprised by what bands I find missing from Sputnik. Especially local Boston bands that I thought were fairly well known--but I guess not, lol. Keep up the good work.
    November 20 09:03 AM
  • TwigTW Now that's dedication!
    November 19 02:08 PM
  • TwigTW It didn't look like you got an answer to your jpeg size question in the meds thread. The short answer is if you get your image from Amazon.com it is always a jpeg and the right size, but 200 - 300 pixels for the longest side is what they are looking for (and always works).
    November 19 12:30 PM
  • DoofusWainwright Well I really like Therapy?...but they're Northern Irish so I won't even get into that argument.
    November 19 03:47 AM
  • DoofusWainwright Diva I know Enya, I couldn't have gotten to this ripe old age without listening to a bit of her new age chuff. Never sat down through a whole album before...not sure if I felt I really needed to listen to a whole album of Enya in the one sitting by the end of it :D As a rec it sorta falls in the middle, enjoyable but not really my thing.
    November 18 03:51 PM
  • DoofusWainwright I feel like I'm really kickin' you where it hurts with these recs - I apologise. All I can say is I haven't rated too many recs that highly this round
    November 2 02:23 PM
  • DoofusWainwright Listened to it this morning - way too much cheese for breakfast
    November 2 02:12 PM
  • DoofusWainwright I'm sorry buddy, just not my thing at all - I like my punk girls a bit more scrotty, like the chick from Be Your Own Pet

  • TwigTW Yeah, I Skipped the Tales From Topographic Oceans show too. The Close To The Edge and Fragile shows were great tho, and they did some Heaven And Earth songs that year too--sounded better live than on the album.

  • TwigTW The show was great. I prefer Howe to Rabin too, but it really was an Anderson/Wakeman show. There were only three Rabin era songs. When they played ?Awaken? it was like Rabin wasn?t even there, lol. Here?s the setlist: http://www.setlist.fm/setlist/arw/2016/wang-theatre-boston-ma-2bfd4cae.html . Have you seen Yes recently? It was interesting to compare Anderson to his replacement in Yes. Similar voices, but Anderson is a showman in a way his replacement never will be.
