| NorthernSkylark Yeah and they're one of the most consistent bands out there too! Good to see you back here, site needs more blue nile love :) Have you heard neon gold by the notwist? I think it's a gem.
| zakalwe I'll give it a go mate, haven't heard his stuff.
| zakalwe Woah. Ello pap. Hope you're well dude. What have you been up to? That Talaboman record is the best so far this year, love it.
| Phlegm ay ay! yeah i see you bro, glad to see you're living! hope you're healthy out there guy! my instagram is essentially redundant as i've been at loss of a smartphone for a long while, should be back to it soon enough though! what's new in pappyworld
| zakalwe Always up for a heart warmer. I'll give it a whirl dude, bloody awful name though. Yeah I think it'll be three points to united which will give me the right hump. We need a springboard this season and a Man Utd hammering would defo be the right stuff.
| zakalwe I'll go with 3. Nick Cave Skeleton Tree. 2. Drive-By Truckers American Band. 1. Bowie Blackstar.3 classics. What about you?
| zakalwe All good pap. Just digesting the musical treasures of 2016, its new now officially my fave year ahead of '97. Mental.
| NorthernSkylark Check hats by the blue Nile, give it a couple spins to fully shine
| Lord(e)Po)))ts its easily the cutest album of 2016 no competition **** off carly rae s***erspen
| Lord(e)Po)))ts dude it ****ing rules dont let the retards who think grimes and fka twigs are good artists fool you
| Ryus haha yep. on another note, you think i would like that JMSN album?
| Ryus thats cool! im really not sure yet, but itll probably be something science-related. perhaps something in the medical field
| Ryus haha what do you do for a living if i may ask?
| Ryus pretty good dude, im a junior now so i gotta start applying for college soon. hows it going with you?
| InfamousGrouse Nah I ain't familiar with it, but I very much trust your judgement, so shall spin it accordingly. Thoughts on the new Viet Cong/Preoccupations record?
| Chortles ah thanks for the tip! Here's the website, the lineup is really ridiculous so even if Stott wasn't there I would want to go http://fyffest.com
| Chortles what's Andy Stott like live? I remember you saying you'd seen him and may go to a fest he's playing at but it's very expensive. just curious to hear what you thought
| Lord(e)Po)))ts it honestly kind of sounds like recent bonobo and then it sounds like recent bonobo mixed with four tets 'pink' on speed.
| Lord(e)Po)))ts its amazing dude. good mix of vibes its got some good downtempo kind of s*** like the first track Fight for Us but then a lot of it ****ing just straight bangs.
| Sinternet thanks, you don't know how long it took to find a nice gif I could compress enough to meet the ridiculously small max file size
| Tunaboy45 I was planning on going but something came up, atmosphere should be interesting to say the least.
| Tunaboy45 Hull is going to be the deciding game.
| Tunaboy45 People round here still like him, it's more a question of what the players think. I'd like to stay optimistic but I definitely have my doubts and reservations.
| Tunaboy45 He spat his dummy out because the players questioned his management. Everyone's happy he's back but I'm no so sure- I get the feeling he still isn't on good terms with the players.
| Tunaboy45 Yeah we have Hull next, huge game. There's been all sorts of speculation about how it was Gibson (chairman) and not Karanka who signed Rhodes and Downing. What's really strange is that the reason he walked away from training was because the players asked why when they were performing well in one game they weren't starting in the next. There's clearly more to this and we'll no doubt find out in the next few days.
| Tunaboy45 We were absolutely dismal, the players clearly didn't care and their hearts just weren't in it. If we keep this form up we have no chance of getting promoted. At best it'll be a repeat of last year where we somehow make it to the play offs and get beat. This is why we don't live as long up north- the stresses of being a boro fan are too much.
| Tunaboy45 It's been a bad weekend for both of us.
| Tunaboy45 Thanks man, good luck for the Everton game too.
| Tunaboy45 Yeah at this point it's pretty safe to say Burnley have won it. We desperately need to win tomorrow, I just hope this whole situation hasn't dampened the players' spirits too much.
| Tunaboy45 Exactly, even if he was planning on leaving surely it would be a better idea to wait until the end of the season. I know he's Mourinho's protege but I didn't expect him to do something like this.
| Tunaboy45 I hope we do, it's the best chance we've had since we got relegated and we need to make the most of it. I think what he's saying about the players not trying hard enough isn't true but even if it is it's not a good enough reason to simply walk away.
| Tunaboy45 I'm absolutely furious, I thought Karanka was better than that. Hopefully he stays but there's a good chance he won't now. Worst possible time for him to do it since we're fighting for promotion with 11 games left.
| guitarded_chuck just saw your recs now man thanks i will definitely check them out, ive gone through a few bands but i find them to be pretty hit or miss, ill check these out, i recognize the names of all them but i dont think ive listened to any of them yet
| Britch2tiger Variety was the intention, otherwise that list would been too biased to be shared.
| Mort. good good, finding it a bit difficult to get back into the swing of things work wise after the christmas break but im getting there. Norwich is a great city tho, wouldnt mind settling down here when im older. Wrote one of my rare reviews today, check it out
| Artuma i'm not in a uni nor a freshman lol
| NorthernSkylark Thanks man, appreciate it . Will check before compiling my eoty list
| BMDrummer didn't do much for me, not really a fan of the style. really love killing an arab and 10:15 tho
| Phlegm ahh sounds dicey! What's the situation about?
| Phlegm just been livin life to the full man! music has definitely taken a lower priority, though I try keep up with what I can.. what's on the happening with you? Missing parts of the community out here!
| TheManMachine thanks. Wildheart will definitely be a memorable summer album for me. Some great tracks on there
| Let Just realized the vox on that track are from Just My Imagine...great use of the sample
| Let That John Talabot is pretty sick. Kinda reminds me of SBTRKT, but a little slower and smokier. Good stuff man
| wtferrothorn Cool, hope you like it. Also thanks, both of the albums are great so far. After hearing Quas on Madvillain, I decided to check out his solo stuff, and Potsy just recced me Fatima lol
| wtferrothorn Hey man, you check the new Panda Bear EP yet? It'd be cool the hear what you think about it
| AmericnZero02 Yeah I remember checking them out once upon a time after seeing sputnikers liking it so much. I remember liking but not loving it. I'll give 'em another listen. I don't really listen to much p-h these days either. That genre easily used to be my favorite. Times change :/
| Mort. I missed out on a lot of that era of uk punk/alt rock simply due to being too young (i was only 10-11 during the mid 2000s) so ive been trying to catch up on it.
| Mort. thanks man, will definitely be digging through that
| Phlegm ay brother! hope all's well, what've you been listening to of late?
| zakalwe The debut is one of my fave records of all time, like you say the energy on that thing is ridiculous. London Calling has always been hit and miss for me though. Strummer was the man, band totally rules.
| zakalwe London Calling a 5. What do you think of their debut?
| Lord(e)Po)))ts thanks. i google imaged her to see if i could get the comparison but https://www.google.ca/search?q=dawn richards
| Lord(e)Po)))ts uh, no? i don't get the comparison tbh. its a cover i made for one of my albums
| Pon I know, at first I thought it was going to be some kind of incompetence-excused-by-way-of-concept bulls*** but yeah it's actually really fascinating.
| AmericanFlagAsh Yeah I adore The Woods and new album is excellent so I thought I'd check out their other albums. Not disappointed.
| chinesewhispers Really? Never knew that, pretty cool. I feel Technique in particular captured that essence perfectly
| chinesewhispers Yeah dude that's what's always kind of confused me, I actually like New Order, JD just never did it for me
| chinesewhispers Okay, tbh I actually kinda enjoyed it, sounds like it has more energy than most of the stuff I've heard. Maybe I'll give em another try, but can't promise I'll dig all of it
| NorthernSkylark yeah. also, i wish chromatics would just drop their new album right now. the singles have all been great!
| NorthernSkylark yeah that song is so damn good. i like how deceptively simple his music sounds. do you know anything that's similar to his sound (other than the obv big ones)?
| NorthernSkylark hello pappy. well i haven't heard the full album yet, just the four tracks he's already released. sometimes i rate new stuff 4 so i can go back and check it, system isn't bulletproof tbh but it's working fine :] check this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TP9luRtEqjc (it's basically the xx with choir)
| NorthernSkylark my aim is true is a top album def! i will give the next ago soon for sure. had completely forgotten about that mum album, love the title of that album too
| Phlegm Yeah it's pretty slick, loved the inclusion of Ae and Moon B, he's probably one of my favorite electronic/techno artists out there just because of that COOL image he portrays ~ def worth a check and hoping for a new LP/EP some time soon! Xoul and Ghettoville are killer
| ChronicSmiler Grid and Queen are the definite standouts for sure. Well, I hope you enjoy the album should you choose to persue it further!
| ChronicSmiler Thanks for the kind words on the review, man. :) If you want a place to start, i'd recommend here. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FfUzs4NDa64
| chinesewhispers Yeah, couple people weren't fans of it...it's okay though, there's a bit of Carrie in all of us
| Phlegm Been meaning to check that new Spitta album, how's it sound?
| Phlegm nice one man! i've basically just been doing the same, listening to what makes me happy! it's been fun going back a bit and exploring genres that i have often neglected due to there not being much of a surge of related releases in modern music. I'll have to check that album out! Post punk sounds right up my alley right now if the Sputnik genre tags are anything to follow off ;) SoM are classic too, good choice! chill on buddy
| Phlegm i've been really enjoying it man! it's the first album i've heard of his so i can't really compare, though when i heard Lifestyle a month or so again i fell in love with his adlibs and voice - and this album gives me a lot of that. pretty basic bars, but the beats flow very nicely! i like it when trap albums aren't too aggressive and in your face, this one just bobs from chilled to hype very casually and makes for a listen that doesn't become exhausting ~ try it out! what've you been listening 2
| Jots it has a lot of the elements that made his debut strong, so yeah i think you'd enjoy
| Jots if I can gather my thoughts better I'll try to review it (a bit out of my comfort zone). but yeah, it's grown on me. the closer is pretty great albeit kinda different from other tracks. it feels like a dystopian futuristic action movie made in the 80s, and I'm on a helicopter or something lol. idk, but yeah album is great. "Not a Word" might be the most addictive track though. The bass line is thick and groovy, and the voice effects are perfectly suited, as an almost cheesy, carefree element
| Artuma yeah although i rather vastly prefer their later albums
| Artuma nm jamming some gothic era swans
| scottpilgrim10 Thanks!, I've been loving their new album. It's the first album of theirs that I've heard, but since then I've checked out The Woods (which is okay) and One Beat (which I also love). What's your favorite S-K record?
| Jots sup pappy, would love your thoughts on my newest rev (as well as the album itself)
| SgtPepper i haven't heard that one actually, but i'll have to check it out. i've listened to most of the yesterdays new quintet albums and i like his sound, so i'm sure Sujinho is just as awesome. i dig latin stuff so that's a plus.
| Jots I'm listening to this Viet Cong LP rn..... holy s***
| Jots you might like this Jamesreindeer album
| Jots I think it's on what.cd... yeah I think the band is based pretty close to me, I'll definitely have to check them out live if I get a chance
| Jots yo man, any chance you have a DL link for that Viet Cong joint?
| Phlegm hey champ, you have a rym? what ya been digging on lately as well
| Ryus heard em all, i'd rank them souls of mischief
| Ryus absolutely, lyrics are hilarious and some pretty sick beats on there
| ChoccyPhilly hmm, well I tend to prefer the more experimental/industrial/glitch to hip hop but i'm still generally finding my taste and such. Any recs would be appreciated regardless!
| Jots yo man I *think you might like this.. maybehttp://horselords.bandcamp.com/album/hidden-cities
| Let Hey there. That Yagya album rules, especially Fimm. His LP from this year, Sleepygirls, is almost as good too. It's got some beautiful vocals.
| BMDrummer hehe thanks, one of the best bands ever imo
| PappyMason Ha, ha. Cheers Phlegm (you've got your shoutbox turned off). You're a cool dude as well.
| Phlegm you get my user of 2014 award
| Hep Kat i think it's pretty good. the with Mac Miller and Trinidad Jame$ is pretty corny, so are a couple other tracks on the second half. but overall it's good
