| Cryptkeeper How long until you're going to drama out again with a 'leaving for real 4: Electric Boogalo' list?
| TheSpaceMan yeah i didnt even really watch the show i just remember that episode on TV lol... but yeah thanks for the rec if i was more versed with rap i'd probably appreciate this a lot more but even still its got some great moments and worth a listen when im in the mood
| TheSpaceMan i'm diggin dude, throw it one every now and then. i laughed at the weeds sample lol
| TheSpaceMan Just a few songs and I liked em more than I thought esp for the first time hearing them. Gonna tackle the whole album soon
| TheSpaceMan Considering it but damn I hate buying digital
| TheSpaceMan lol fair enough dude i'm gon keep up the hunt tho
| TheSpaceMan Damn yea I've been searchin but I can't find it. Seems like deep cut hip hop alb so I'm reluctant to drop money on it. Don't mean any disrespect I'm just quick to admit I'm not versed enough in rap to make that move
| Toad I need to check it out again. Every once in a while I go knock down all the ratings of records that I haven't gone back to but had highly rated; used to have it at a 4.5 so it will probably go right back up
| danielito19 What's your favorite dota 2 hero? You seem like a Huskar picker
| VaxXi Noticed your low rating on MF Grimm's Fall of Ibliys. Thoughts on it?
| StarlessCore "they think they are better informed than people who have been listening to it daily for decades..." you legit dude. You are 100% the worst sputnik user of all time. i can't even believe that youre not a troll
| StarlessCore I was listening to Big L back when you two^ were getting your ass wiped by your mom while listening to Kids Bop. He's dope, but he's also overrated by hip hop noobs like StarlessCore who have almost no knowledge of 90s hip hop,
| Cygnatti no i completely understood what you meant, i think you did a great job of explaining it lol. i've never actually given this kind of stuff much thought so i'm wondering where i should go from here.
| Cygnatti that's crazy and very interesting...hmm
| Cygnatti how exactly does stocks and s*** work? i know i could look up this stuff (i'm lazy), but the info i get from that is also so formal and hard for me to understand in a practical sense.
| Cygnatti "just made a lot of money off of Nintendo stock. Thank you for making me aware of this game." are you forreal? i'm bein serious actually. nintendo stocks rose so much in a short time that it was actually capped a few days back, and barred from trading for the remainder of the day.
| AngryLittleAlchemist Hey Lamb what would you recommend next for someone looking to get into Hip Hop?
| oltnabrick probably like a long time ago, the cover looks familiar
| ArsMoriendi That's a pretty bad reason. I was recommending you a critically acclaimed electronic/hip hop album that I was surprised you never even heard of and I thought you'd love it and here you are calling me a punk. That's just disrespectful, but hey if making enemies is your plan, there good job man, you're killin' it.
| hal1ax do u like old jedi mind tricks?
| SharkTooth most likely it'll have 2 be you, I'm taking summer college courses
| SharkTooth was disappointed by the production, Ace deserves better. Album is still lit af tho considering Ace is still doing his storytelling thing
| Hurricanslash Damn man, nice to see you back! It's been almost a year! How you've been doing?
| SharkTooth holy s*** I didn't know you came back! How's it going man?
| SPRFanOf5H Dude check out of the some new hip-hop that's been put out, there's some really good stuff minus the usual TLOP by Kanye and then Views by Drake..... Just did a review on an underrated hip-hop rarity collection released by one of Nas' friends, Nature called Queen Classics. Check it, there's also the new single by Logic called FLEXICUTION and his new one Wrist with Pusha T too, also the new Death Grips album too.
| SPRFanOf5H Dude welcome back to the site! I noticed you returned man, and I know you were one of my favorites when it came to hip-hop so i thought I'd stop by and holler at ya, been listening to any good hip hop lately?
| Hurricanslash Also, the person who called you delusional was deathschool, and if you payed close attention, it should be pretty obvious that my "tries" to get you banned were all humorous. Just to clear some s*** up.
| Hurricanslash I'm like that with every person I know. I'm not trying to make anything up with a lighthearted music-discussion, I treat almost everyone like this.
| deathschool http://www.independent.co.uk/news/science/sarcasm-how-the-lowest-form-of-wit-actually-makes-people-brighter-and-more-creative-10416281.html
| Hurricanslash Ay, I know we have petty fights all over the place, but you should check this s*** out, two songs with Ellay: http://therealnobody.bandcamp.com/album/puzzles
| RosaParks check out jazz liberatorz. seems like something you'd like
| SharkTooth btw just wrote something for another Ace album, if you could proofread it that would be great
| SharkTooth awesome man! I need to remind myself to review Disposable Arts one day(it's one of my all-time favorites)
| RadicalEd I woudn't even argue that there are differences and obviously the whole way the US is setup makes it somewhat more complicated, but I disagree on it being this unclimbable mountain. I'm not an expert or anything, bu I think the problem lies more within the unwillingness to actually go forward with this and tackle the issues.
| RadicalEd Obviously on total the welfare cost is higher in the USA but that's pretty much irrelevant because you got more people to pay taxes as well. The total cost is not that important when it comes to social benefits, it only matter that there is a healthy amount of people who are making enough money to sustain it.
| RadicalEd I'm gonna respond to some of the stuff later, but just so you know, the median age in germany is roughly ten years higher then in the US. https://www.cia.gov/library/publications/the-world-factbook/fields/2177.html
| SharkTooth hey lambsbread, if you want a great hip-hop album that came out this year you should check out Akua Naru-The Miner's Canary
| Lakes. you should get in on the discussion in the PNWI community thread bro
| EcoChocolatacchi bless you for preaching the unpopular opinion, s*** takes guts and motivation.
| SharkTooth Awesome! You should check out the rest of his discog, everything he did is fantastic
| Jots this l'orange and jeremiah jae piece is solid, i think you'd enjoy
| SharkTooth Hey man, you should check out Masta Ace-Disposable Arts when you can, it's a hip-hop concept album yet a million times better than GKMC
| BeneaththeDarkOcean Hey dude, I just read your Kendrick Lamar review and I wanted to say I was wrong about you. I am deeply sorry I ever said I wanted to see you dead. You've got a lot more nuance in your personality than I gave you credit for. My sincere apologies. :(
| RoundOnEndHiInMiddle hey dude, just wanted to say that your change of opinion on TPAB was pretty cool, given how you readily admitted that you had misconceptions about it. that takes humility, and to be honest, openness to change is a great quality to have as a music listener in general. godspeed, man.
| Hep Kat Also I'm glad to see you enjoy One Be Lo. Dude is definitely one of my favorite rappers of all-time, and has been for over 10 years now, since the first time I illegally downloaded masters of the universe (which, imo, is a top 25 rap record of all-time)
| Hep Kat check that new kenn starr. he's definitely still a relatively middle-of-the-pack MC compared to others in the circles he rolls in(which isn't really a knock on him; he works with some exceptional wordsmiths), but his new LP has absolutely lovely production
| SmartWentCody Hey, you commented on one of my lists a while back and said you were gonna check out Eyedea
| Hep Kat yeah i fux with tha rifleman a smidge
| Spliffhanger67 Check Elvigemini's page if you want to listen to the good prog s***.
| HalfManHalfAmazing haha tbh it was a bit hard to come up with because there's a very fine line between ninja turtles and pizza and "dont make me break your kevin hart boyyyy"try "Think Good Thoughts", "The Calm", "5AM in Toronto" these are all straight up hip hop tracks. Drake is not really one to have a whole song with a humorous slant throughout
| HalfManHalfAmazing hey thanks for the link Lambs, I'll hop on that album asap. I always loved that Still Comin Up track
| SharkTooth looks like 2015's up to a good start then lol
| SharkTooth cool, I was asking you because he just released a new album(Tetsuo and Youth), haven't really checked it out myself but I figured you might be interested
| SharkTooth question: what do you think of Lupe Fiasco
| Skoj aye I eat hot pockets too after internet atheists convinced me life is neurons and neurotransmitters. i get that, man.
| Jots It's a bit more trip hop oriented, dunno if that's your jam
| Jots ahh gotcha, will do. ever listen to the Constructus Corporation?
| Jots yo man, any upcoming hiphop releases worth keeping an eye out for?
| SharkTooth sweet! he's releasing an album next week jsyk
| SPRFanOf5H Hey man, what's your next album you are reviewing? I'm looking forward to it man, been reading your past stuff: you definitely got a knack for hip-hop. Your MMLP2 review was an interesting read for sure, especially since I just wrote about Infinite a couple days earlier. Keep up the good work bro :D
| RosaParks i was fukcing around. didn't really mean anything by it lol
| SharkTooth I'd say prob Sage Francis-Copper Gone(it's packed with great lines)
| SharkTooth Oh yeah Holy Scriptures is dope af, haven't jammed it much b/c I've been too busy to check it out, but yeah I have spun it
| HalfManHalfAmazing riverside is mad underrated dude it even topped LA on some list for 'coolest cities in america' haha but yeah you should review OST.
| GnarlyShillelagh aren't those the same dude? i'll see about givin em a listen soon
| SharkTooth Lambs, check out Barrel Brothers by Skyzoo
| SharkTooth checking Holy Scriptures right now, damn, it's good!
| SharkTooth Didn't think it would be your thing to begin with, but I figured you'd give it at least a 2
| Mythodea Thanks for your flattering words mate. It's a weird taste you have, all hip hop and some Pink Floyd thrown in, but I like it! So, I can suggest some albums but I'm not sure whether you like them or not. So, here we go:1.Porcupine Tree - The Sky Moves Sideways, 2.Eloy - Ocean, 3.Rush - Hemispheres, 4.Camel - Mirage. It's difficult to find bands identical to PF, but they all arouse from the same scene. I don't want to overflow you with recs, so check these and we'll see.:)
| SharkTooth Hey Hil you should also check out Mick Jenkins-The Water[s]
| RoundOnEndHiInMiddle hey hil, i don't mean any animosity towards you, sorry if i come off that way. "be a mental vegetarian, indulge in no beefs", right? keep doin you dude
| Lord(e)Po)))ts that links not workin for me, what is the song name and artist?
| Phlegm cool thanks man i'll check that out, did you hear any Illogic?
| SharkTooth "So many of these types of clowns on the West Coast thinking their s*** smells like roses cuz they bought some dirty ass clothes and spent the rest on cigarettes"I live in the south so I really wouldn't know, but yeah I can see where you're going with this
| SharkTooth Yeah I can see why you aren't too keen on thrift-shopping as an alternative. But do you really think that 50$ for a t-shirt is a smart idea?
| SharkTooth seriously though, SAGE FRANCIS-COPPER GONE(check it out ASAP)
| SharkTooth Yeah, I feel similar when it comes to picking a favorite rapper tbh
| SharkTooth I'm curious Lambs:what's your favorite hip-hop album?
| GnarlyShillelagh I wouldn't say Kendrick is strictly better than Pac; Pac is definitely more important and very good in his own right, I just enjoy Kendrick more. Also btw we don't talk down to you until you start acting up. I'm sure if you had a normal conversation with someone without acting better than them or talking s*** about their taste or an artist they love (this is usually what does it; people don't respond well to having their taste denigrated) they'd be easy. Anyway, see you wheneva
| Guzzo10 Bro, I listen to KRS-One. I think KRS-One is one of the defining guys in Hip-Hop. I just don't think his style is law. Meaning you don't have to be all substance to be great. Just different preferences, in all reality it doesn't matter. Music is just something to be enjoyed in spare time, or to be lived and breathed, that the greatness of it. So I respect you, your opinion.
| SharkTooth http://albumstreams.com/s/sage-francis/copper-gone
| GnarlyShillelagh btw you should check the new album from Locksmith called A Thousand Cuts, I think you'd really dig it.
| Dodenakker Yeah man I know. I really liked the album too. The band is currently gaining some real exposure in the Netherlands, and the bass player is the brother of my girlfriend. So I thought I would post it here on Sputnik too. They deserve the attention. Give a listen to the first album, it's a little more afrobeat than jazz, but still immensely enjoyable.
| Dodenakker Damn man, that was one fine review! I really enjoyed reading it. And I'm glad you enjoyed the album, I will pass it along to one of the band members, I'm sure he's happy to read it ;).
| SGGreenman So that was pretty ****ing life changing. Best tracks: Rappaz R. N. Dainja, MC's act like they don't know, Free Mumia, Wannabemceez, The Truth, Out for Fame.
| SGGreenman I think I'll try the self titled then first and just go from there some time tomorrow. I'll let you know my thoughts.
| SGGreenman Nah that's sort of what I've been looking for. I haven't really listened to much hip hop pre 2000 (just got into the genre couple years ago) so any rec is fantastic. What's the best KRS album to start with?
| SGGreenman Hip Hop recs? Trying to get more well rounded in the genre.
| Hep Kat Crenshaw? Yeah it's good. Choice cuts: "U See Us," "H-Town," "Go Long"
| Rowan5215 Fair enough. The movie is outstanding, Ralph Fiennes plays one of my favourite ever villains in it
| Rowan5215 Thoughts on Red Dragon? That's my favourite of the movies I'd be interested to see what the book is like
| Jasdevi087 I finished my KRS-One review, hope it's well received http://www.sputnikmusic.com/review/63193/KRS-One-Meta-Historical/#lastpost
| SharkTooth got 5 new recs for ya: Sadistik-Ultraviolet, Sage Francis-Copper Gone, Clipping-CLPPNG, Broke/-Sketches, and RATKING-So It Goes
| Hep Kat I saw in the TC3 thread that you liked that one song. If ya really wanna give Wanye a shot, check out Da Drought 3. Hands down his strongest material. Listening to that and his earliest stuff ('98-'01, a good example would be his feature on ghetty green) you'll realize how unfortunate it is the drank has his brain totally zonked now
| mandan Nice to see some Sublime love, they seem to be overlooked on the site. Amazing band man. 40 Oz. has possibly become my fave album ever.
| SharkTooth new rec:Prince Po-Animal Serum(Prince Po was the other half of Organized Konfusion, a rap duo that Pharoahe was half of)
| SharkTooth I made additional changes to the ones you suggested, could you proofread?(although I haven't yet removed the bolds and changed the 'insane lines' part)
| SharkTooth Yes, but it's taking longer than I tought(I have a bunch of other stuff to do atm), hey could you please help me edit it in the site forum proof-reading thread?
| CaptainDooRight Much appreciated bro. I'm looking forward to continue working with you.
| CaptainDooRight No prob I just wanna be fair to all the other mc's who are waiting and have to do it. No offense to you at all but if you can't do it just let me know and if you get more time in the future let me know as well so we can include in some projects. We're trying to get everyone involved who can record within 5 days max. :)
| unclereich "One Be Lo, haven't been able to check them yetand I want to check out SONOGRAM sometime, butI'll check them both though" LOL
| CaptainDooRight And if you need more time just let me know. Communication always wins.
| CaptainDooRight I can sense your passion so I def want you on this project. How's another 5 days sound?
| CaptainDooRight bro i really honestly like your flows and your style and I can tell you have something to say and I really like that. I mean it won't work if the beat is messed up so we can try two things: if your vocal track is seperate that you can send by itself i can try mixing it in. I don't think it is by your description of how you mentioned you recorded so... do you have a mic? even if you don't it might still be fine. You should download 'audacity', it's free and you can import the song and record it..
| CaptainDooRight No prob and do you want me to make that new email address your current on my records?
| CaptainDooRight just emailed you a track to finish off and complete :], let me know asap if you can't do it
| SharkTooth New rec: Pharoahe Monch-PTSD: Post Traumatic Stress Disorder
| CaptainDooRight No worries nig, that's actually my life story too. We'll add you to the next track rotation and I'll forward you the original welcome message on Monday at work. glad to hear you're in. We've already had two nigs lay down tracks on this first track we're doing. We've got 3 tracks already fully scheduled so you and key will be on the fourth track which we're composing right now.
| SharkTooth Did you check out the new Mobb Deep yet?
| CaptainDooRight shout me your email, or public contact info so I can compile everyone's info in one central location. I can mediate everyone's info so we're organized if that works
| Hep Kat you should let that new de la soul tape bend your ear for a bit. s***s on point
| SharkTooth This album NEEDS more attention, review:http://www.sputnikmusic.com/review/61076/Lil-Herb-Welcome-To-Fazoland/FREE download link:http://www.datpiff.com/Lil-Herb-Welcome-To-Fazoland-mixtape.580474.html
| SharkTooth My friend, you need some CunninLynguistshttp://cunninlynguists.bandcamp.com
| SharkTooth I fixed my review a bit, can you check if I need to work on something?
| SharkTooth Dude, I'm really curious, what do you think of acts like the Death Grips?(And what does their music sound like for that matter?)
| Gyromania one day we'll laugh about all of this
| SharkTooth I found this rapper who seems to be a LOT like KRS based on this review, what are your thoughts on his music?http://www.sputnikmusic.com/review/28314/Sage-Francis-Personal-Journals/
| Gyromania lol relax. i'm just saying, as someone who is VERY into history, i can't believe you're actually arguing that tarantino's portrayal of racism in the south is grossly inaccurate considering i know, for irrefutable fact, that in many cases it was much, much worse.
| SharkTooth LB, can you check my review of Scarface's debut?(Already posted the link)
| SharkTooth http://www.sputnikmusic.com/review/61463/Scarface-Mr.-Scarface-Is-Back/
| SharkTooth Hey LambsBread, I just reviewed Scarface's debut, can you look at it and see if I should make any edits?
| Gyromania plus i have a bunch of links here directly referencing some of the worst slave owners who did unthinkable things to their "property". blacks weren't allowed to contest their masters nor seek any kind of legal retribution, so the killing or brutal beating of slaves was a very easy thing to get away with, and studies have shown in the past that people with absolute control have a tendency to greatly abuse it
| Gyromania here's what the film didn't illustrate: their meagre living conditions which led to major health problems, the painstaking labour they had to endure 6 days a weed from sunrise to sunset, their malnourishment. what kind of quality of life are we talking about here when many slave owners (i'll find you personal accounts if you want to challenge me) were merely keeping their slaves alive to work for them and not providing adequate clothing, lodgings, food, etc.
| Gyromania i'm sorry, but you don't at all sound like a historian to me. if you are then that's fine, i'm very into history myself, which is why i'm confused as to why you're debating this with me. think back to the movie for a minute here: it showed a few plantations abusing slaves (there were far more than a few that did this). i think your contention with the film is that it didn't show any decent slave-owners, which is fine (again a weird criticism, but whatever).
| Gyromania it is so comparatively tame. you can't seriously think slave owners weren't worse than that. i'm sorry but they were and that is incontrovertible. also it isn't inherent propaganda because people are stupid lol. what kind of logic is that? propaganda is intentional influencing, making your statement false. unless of course you're accusing tarantino of that (it was never his intention, as seen in interviews).
| SharkTooth http://www.sputnikmusic.com/review/61433/Boogie-Down-Productions-Edutainment/
| Gyromania but i digress: anyone who knows a damn thing about the slave trade in the south should know what to take away from this film and what not to. we seem to disagree on this and i don't expect either of us to convince the other. at any rate, i enjoyed the discussion and hope i didn't come across as too hostile. it's fun to discuss these things.
| Gyromania i'm not discussing the morality of slavery or child labour, i'm arguing that it is portrayed somewhat realistically. in many instances slavery as much, MUCH worse than what the film shows, and as a person who's studied history extensively and the effects of racism in the south, i can safely say it was (and still continues to be in some parts) a terrible, terrible ****ing atrocity against the human race. tarantino's portrayal of it is relatively tame if we're being honest
| SharkTooth LambsBread, check this outhttp://www.sputnikmusic.com/review/61076/Lil-Herb-Welcome-To-Fazoland/
| Lotus dont know what your problem is tbh. i come in and say the past american family model worked better than the present and you freak out and call me all this s***. you are a bigot my man. If you actually wanna debate, thats fine, just stop assuming the worst out of me in the absence of you being able to form a coherent argument.
| Gwyn. dont know what your problem is tbh. i come in and say the past american family model worked better than the present and you freak out and call me all this s***. you are a bigot my man. If you actually wanna debate, thats fine, just stop assuming the worst out of me in the absence of you being able to form a coherent argument.
| bach i'd say so. clams usually does top notch stuff so i would def give it a go if i were you
| bach LOL dude you're killing me. if you need recs hit me up
| bach not sure about all that jazz, but i sure do love talking about music on sputnikmusic. don't you?
| bach i'll debate you on politics on sputnikmusic.com
| Inhalation3 Yeah, it was out in November. Yeah ill do a review, but it might take a while because of got alot of exams to prepare for. It woul be awesome if you would review Jon Gomm! One of my fav albums of last year :)
| SeaAnemone lol srsly dude not trying to be a dick but what school do you go to
| SharkTooth " LambsBread Actually I would go with KRS-One (self titled album). There is a review for it, but its a really bad track by track." Let me tell you something, EVERY review that has 'theCreative0ne' on it is going to be an abysmal track-by-track.
| BigHans I see you quoted The Gangsta the Killa and the Dope Dealer in the Westside thread, so my opinion of you has been immediatley changed for the better.
| ExcentrifugalForz good review. I'll review whatever album you want but would like to do one that doesn't have a review yet.
| good post
| Mort. also, I do apologise for trolling you on the Eminem threads.
| Mort. Cmon lambsbread, don't tell me your gonna stick up for the guy who called yak an attention whore? I hope that hahahaha was in my favour
